We stopped going to this fish and chip shop about 18 months ago as when we got home the chips were cold. We normally go to the Wetherby Whaler. On this evening we were feeling tired so decided to give the Frying Pan another try. That was a mistake. The girls serving were not interested in the customers they didn't know, only laughing and joking with local customers they knew. When we opened up the fish and chips, the chips were burnt. I'd seen the person serving picking bits off my order and it must have been the chips that were burnt the most. The batter was flaccid and the fish didn't taste of anything, it didn't have that lovely fresh fish taste you get with the Whaler. Next time we won't be lazy, we'll travel a bit further and get a much nicer meal two minutes down the road. It's a bit of a cheek how much they charge for a poor meal. It seemed to me like there was no one in charge who was bothered.

Lovely chips, cooked beautifully on the outside and fluffy on the inside! A really good portion, enough for us to share for lunch. Please make sure you visit here!!!

This has been my 'go to' fish and chip shop for many years now. Even though I have a much more local chippy in the village that I live in. I always choose to drive the extra few miles into Wetherby because there is no comparison between them... These are proper fish and chips, cooked the way they should be, not in oil, but in dripping. The key to the tastiest fish and chips is the Dripping. Unfortunately it seems to be becoming a bit of a rarity nowadays, with many using cheaper cooking oil. The other more famous one in Wetherby is guilty of this crime against fish and chips. And that is why the locals go to the Frying Pan and the sheep go to the Whaler. If you know, you know!

Third time visiting as it is 100 miles round trip. The fish lightly battered is excellent, not had anything to equal it hence I keep returning and will do so in future.

Really good chippy little on the expensive side now, the highlights is the Chinese curry sauce and the mushy peas are much better then whaler, the special is massive but the normal fish is small. They were bigger but been away for 7 months. Definitely worth trying.

Lovely fish and chips (well, I had a sausage, my Wife had the fish). Had an afternoon out in Wetherby, and were tempted to try the Whaler, but their prices are ridiculous. Saw a proper tradional chippy on the map so stopped by the pub next door until they opened at 4:30pm. We each got a meal deal (with side, and can of pop). Food was very nice, cooked perfectly, and big portions. Sat outside to eat, in the scorching late afternoon sun. Friendly staff, and great service. Will definitely come again if we ever visit Wetherby in the future.

Great fish and chips, freshly cooked, wuick service and friendly staff. Only downside is lack of disabled parking or parking generally and not wheelchair friendly. But still worth the hassle for great fish and chips

Without doubt the best Fish & Chips in Wetherby. Really tasty fresh fish in a crisp batter and chips that had just come out of the fryer. Friendly staff for whom nothing was too much trouble and reasonably priced too. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area

Well this was our first visit to The Frying Pan and it won’t definitely be our last. What a true gem this place is. Lovely, friendly people with fantastic tasting food. The cod was perfect and the ingredients of the greatest quality. Great prices too! Would recommend without hesitation. Thank you!

I certainly enjoy their Fish and Chips. Staff are polite, quick and efficient and the shop is clean, what more could you ask.

Every time recently they’ve forgotten to give me my full order. Last week was a portion of chips and last night was two battered sausages. Tried calling on both occasions and no answer! We’re local (ish) but a car drive away. Very annoying and frustrating as I don’t want to change back to the Wetherby Whaler but at this rate might have to!

While the staff were very nice, I ordered a small fish and chips for my sister and a fish and battered sausage. Upon my return home I discovered a very small fish in my wrapper and no sausage. My sister who went home to her house had a large fish and chips but not my sausage either. Sadly still, though still open the chip shop refused to answer the phone. Very disappointed.

Down wetheby for work, and just called at the frying pan! Dont bother going anywhere else. Food is unreal! 100% impressed. Staff friendly. Next time im down wetheby.... fryin pan it is. Faultless (and exceptional reasonably priced!)

Stumbled on this chippie one hot sunny evening, sat outside with fish & chips and they were superb. Freshly cooked, perfect. Plan to call there on my next visit to Wetherby.

Fish and chips weren't nice at all, didn't even finish my fish and chips. They just tasted of grease and were soggy.

The Frying Pan is a local favourite. The staff are lovely, the food is delicious and portions are always generous. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!

We stopped at The Frying Pan on our way home down the A1. The fish was nice, chips hot although somewhat soggy but the portions were extremely small - much smaller than the mini fish portions at my local chippy even though I was charged for a standard portion. Well below the normal standard of Yorkshire fish and chips.

Got recommended by my sis who used to work in wetherby and we had a day out in knareborough. Came prepared with cutlery baking tray and lemon to have a car dinner date Everything was great and im sure the last pic shows that

Just had fish bites and chips for my tea..all the others had the full fish chips peas etc...not a bit left..not a sound uttered..clean plates and satisfied full tums all round. ..excellent from the F P as usual.

Was told about this chippy from friends, came on Friday and was extremely good, will be passing on the recommendations to other friends/family.

Very disappointing, batter wasn’t crispy, chips were greasy. Haven’t been for a while and wont be calling back anytime soon.

Bueno, hemos comido de este chippy durante muchos años, generalmente tomando pescado y papas fritas cuando visitamos a mamá que vive en wetherby. Siempre ha sido hermoso pescado y patatas fritas - pescado ligero en escamas y masa ligera crujiente - gran sabor. Hoy, aunque no era lo mismo - la masa era espesa y gomosa - no pudimos pasar la firmeza - por lo general esto es todo lo que se necesita - el pescado era denso y gris - seco para masticar. Me arriesgaría a adivinar que estos eran filetes congelados hoy, la forma ciertamente lo parecía, la masa estaba tan uniformemente cubierta por el filete de pescado que no estaba burbujeante y desigual como de costumbre. Además, no sabía nada. Muy decepcionante, ¿qué pasó con la sartén? ?

First fish & chips in 9 weeks and they seemed as happy to see me as I was them. Social distancing was implemented perfectly and the food was excellent.

Fui a dar una vuelta por el río ayer a las, wetherby. saw chippy estaba abierto, así llamado en un obtuve uno de cada con sobras y un pescado con sobras, sal un vinagre, bajé al río y realmente los disfruté, 1 calle en aproximadamente 9 semanas desde el cierre delicioso, definitivamente volveré por más pescado realmente escamoso buena porción patatas fritas agradable un marrón, rebozado un sobras fantástico. agradable personal amable, recién salido de la sartén. Me sentí muy seguro en la tienda con una distancia segura y una pantalla de vidrio de seguridad en su lugar. muchas gracias, steve, york

1st time here and not disappointed at all BEST chippy in wetherby and the staff very friendly too WILL be using this chippy again and again so folks if in wetherby come to the FRYING PAN :-)
