Popped here for a couple of drinks whilst staying in the area. The staff were friendly and the service was great, the place had a good atmosphere

Celebration of 100 years of forces

Went for Sunday lunch 7.6.2023 got a standard meal. Very small portions chicken tasted sour 2 roasties no mash few carrots and peas disgusting for the price. Asked for extra gravy was told that would be extra cost. Couple next to us asked for a hammer and nails for the beef for new souls for his shoes Would not rec this pub at all.

We have been here a number of times for food and drinks, lovely pub and atmosphere, great landlord and lady, but the most friendliest and star of the pub has got to be their gorgeous boxer dog Archie! Always makes our visit extra special! 🌟 🐶 Sarah & Graeme

On our travels me and my children stopped for some food after visiting Richmond castle . The staff were welcoming and we were given a table . I ordered 2 children roasts and one for myself . The food arrived in about 10 mins I was a little surprised with how small my plate was and the portion sizes everything was just piled ontop of each other one piece of broccoli a small bit of cabbage a few carrots 2 bits of parsnips a few roasties one potato still had skin on and wasn’t roasted the Yorkshire pud was over cooked the meal claimed the lamb came with mint sauce and it didn’t the meat was cold and chewy the gravy lay like a thick blanket over everything and was also cold . This was also the case with the childrens meal although their plate was bigger than mine . I feel it would be better to have the gravy seperate so customers could put themselves as I felt it also ruined the meal as did my son and didn’t want to eat it . Overal I was very disappointed with the food but not disappointed with how we were greeted

Great food, staff and prices are good. Whilst it's dog friendly there's a good sized 'dog free' area to eat more hygienically. The open topped pies are stuffed with filling, will be back

We meet here for our monthly book club and have recently held our Xmas meal here also. There was ten of us this year and the food was absolutely superb - generous portions and cooked to perfection. I am coeliac and the staff and chef could not have been more accommodating- I had the roast beef and they even provided a decent sized gluten free yorkshire pudding which I've never been offered anywhere else before! The staff are always friendly and the drinks are very reasonably priced. A real asset to our lovely town! 😍

A warm and welcoming pub! Staff were lovely, chatty and very welcoming. The food was lovely and the portion sizes where great! Even though they were busy the staff checked we where happy with our meals and if we needed anything else. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

Lovely pub, lots of space, dog friendly, and seriously good food. Very friendly and pleasant staff too. I recommend the chicken, ham, and mushroom pie!

Superb Sunday Lunch and generally great pub food. Great value. Good quality home cooked pub food. Highly recommend for feeding the family. 4 roast beef and drinks all round for just £54. Can’t beat it locally.

Was a good night I didn't remember a lot of them, but was a great night for making new friends.

One real ale, very very ordinary and served by someone who was a stranger to the concept of smiling.

Had lunch here with the family on Saturday. What a wonderful place. The atmosphere was so friendly. The staff were really helpful and great with the kids. Food was spot on. Have been a few times for food now and absolutely love the place. Would highly recommend if you're visiting Richmond.

We called on a Friday teatime staff nice but unfortunately the food was awful peas and Carrots shrivelled up Yorkshire pudding microwaved that much we could not cut them my pork and my friends chicken was nice but we had unfortunately covered with a horrible smokey tasting gravey, potatoes like bullets.

Although my cheese chips were nice it only covered the too as they were in a bowl type and unfortunately the under chips had no cheese on, when I asked for some extra cheese the waiter came back and said this is an extra charge of £1.00 their for with it being in the middle of my meal and not having cash as I paid on card this was an inconvenience so I just said to leave it and left the rest of my chips. I'm quite disappointed as the top lot of cheese chips were nice, And the onion rings were nice too.

Nice and friendly staff, nice to enjoy a drink outside with views of the market place, staff member came out and offered a treat for my dog

Nice food and pint in Richmond.

Called in today, just for a quick pint, the girls were brilliant, nothing was too much for them. They even brought a bowl of water out for my dog, and some gravy bones, (we were very welcome to stay inside too). Will definitely be back!

Went for food. Friendly welcome when we arrived however only 2 staff in the bar. Waited ages to be served. Very slow service should have been more staff serving on a bank holiday. We were seated to the left side of the bar. The party commented on the lack of cleanliness. There is a cut through that had a rucksack, candle sticks, large tin of paint that they used at the front of the bar and a Greggs wrapper. Large box on the bar blocking the menu. More care and tidy up. Would take 10 mins max to put away and present better. The food was okay. Wouldn't go back. Very average. Which was a shame.

Had a very good Sunday lunch, plenty on the plate and really hot. We'll recommended. Enjoyed another good meal there. Wife and I had gammon, very nice.

On the evening we called in, it was very quiet. The staff were all friendly. However, the salmon we ordered was dry and quite hard. The vegetables were ok and the was hot.

Really nice. Quick service, but it was quietetish. Ceasar salad needed a bit more bacon but that's all. Dog friendly. Nice atmosphere. Background Music not too loud. Deffo worth a visit.

We had a lasagne and a pie. The lasagne was pretty bland and in a very shallow dish with lots of greasy cheese. The salad was just a few chopped bits of cucumber and tomato and a couple of leaves. The pie was very watery and chips a little soggy. Very disappointing. Staff were lovely and service was good.

Lovely place, friendly staff, great and reasonably priced food, even did the dog some sausages and gravy on request for a small fee. Pool table for the kids, dog friendly, couldn’t be better. Thoroughly recommend.

Been here couple of times and keep coming back. Foods always good, good variety of beers to keep hubby happy, TV on but no sound so not overwhelmed by noise, I like that.

Fantastic. The guy with the fair hair is one of the hardest workers and very good at his job. Whatever they are paying him isn't enough. Every pub needs someone like him. Food lovely too ( x2 nut roasts.)Keep up the good work.

Me and the Wife visited last Monday 5th July. Great food and great service, the staff were brilliant/Polite who served us our food and drinks. Deffinately going back next time we visit Richmond.

Poor food. Sirloin Steak was overcooked and chewy. My wife's leak & mushroom pie was 'OK'. Service was no better than average. On the whole I didn't hate it but I wouldn't choose to go back given the number of places to choose from in Richmond.

The food was absolutely exquisit staff were excellent very friendly staff

The food here is great. Some may say a little basic but that's what we wanted. Good, honest and fair priced food. The staff are just great, helpful and attentive without being overpowering. The bar is typical of many in Richmond. Old, low ceilings and a little dark but in its own quaint way. We were only in Richmond for 2 days but had lunch here twice. Parking is in the main square, a disc system is in use and is free. Discs can be picked up from local businesses surrounding the square. There is a small outdoor seating area at the front and toilets in the rear. Some of the small steps can be missed easily though as I found out. Hopefully the end of restrictions soon and these places can get back to normality, will visit again when in the area.

Very poor experience, staff were rude, unwelcoming and unhelpful. Seemed to deliberately overcharge. Strongly recommend trying somewhere else instead. As you can see from the response below, they are pretty unrepentant and argumentative! Given the number of options locally, I would follow the above advice and try another establishment.

Great dog friendly pub. The food is amazing and the staff are really nice. Highly recommended Sunday dinners here. I had half a cow on my plate. Our dogs were spoilt too.
