Terrorífico lugar y no volveremos.

I Went to Town bar for cocktails with my friend to what we thought we thought was a buzzing cocktail bar. After arriving we had to go hunting for the cocktail menus and on the way back to our table I fell over on slippery floor that had just been mopped, there was no wet floor sign up! I twisted my ancle, the staff member cleaning the tables just laughed and did not even apologise or ask if I was ok. Even after I had clearly stated they need to put a wet floor sign up there was no response.

We arrived at lunch time yesterday looking forward to some food. After ordering drinks we were advised by the surly waitress that there was no fish on the menu. After consulting with the "chef" it arouse that there was no white fish but prawns, calamari and white bait were actually available.Orders were taken but we were then informed other dishes were also not available.2 of the party ordered the tapas selection and quickly wished we hadn't.The salt and pepper calamari was breaded and frankly looked as though it had come from a cheap high street freezer shop. The meatballs were burn't and the sauce on the mussels was a claggy grey affair. Our patatas bravas failed to get to the table. We were also advised they had run out of fat chips ( clearly not a potato in sight then) when the other 2 mains appeared. In such a competitive location with loads of great eateries available, there will be no reason to return.

I really don't understand the bad reviews! My friend and I ate here last Friday evening and had a lovely time. It was a beautiful evening and we sat outside in the sunshine. Our food came in good time and it was delicious! This occasion was actually the second time I have eaten here, and I must say that both times I have been impressed with all aspects of the place. The tapas is honestly amazing - I used to live in Spain so I know what good tapas is!! Patatas bravas is brilliant here. The service was brilliant - all staff members really friendly and chatty, made us feel welcome.Prices very reasonable, considering the high standard of food and service you receive! Can't wait for my next visit!

We arrived, as a family of four for lunch. Service was very slow, but at least the waitresses were cheerful. The delivery of the food was even slower. The soup was okay, but so heavily peppered, it made it hard to determine what it was (we weren't told, only one of us guessed leek and potato). Sandwiches were of variable quality - the steak was very good, the club sandwich had an identity crisis (three layers in a club, not two, chaps) but was very nice. The fish finger sandwich was, sadly, poor - grey fish, probably pollack, in a thick batter. We were fed, the bill was reasonable, but this could be so much better. Maybe it was a bad day.

We visited here with our relatives for Sunday lunch the other weekend as they do a nice soup, sandwich and chips taster menu which is excellent value for money.Unfortunately on this particular occasion they had run completely out of all draft beer and were only able to offer bottle beer. The young lady offered me a Brew Dog but forgot to mention it was alcohol free. When questioned she just shrugged her shoulders and laughed it off without offering me a apology or alternative. When our food arrived the stilton and potato soup had been swapped without informing us to tomato which to be honest was awful. Again no apology she just blamed the chef... Shame as this experience will probably mean we'll go elsewhere next time!

I asked for vegetarian breakfast without egg, I got an ordinary breakfast with egg. The young lady was apologetic but all she did was ask the chef if the sausage was vegetarian. He said it was, but we both agreed it definitely wasn't. Altogether an unpleasant experience and won't go back in a hurry

Such a shame that I'm not just writing about the food. I visited on a Thursday night with family and we waited a while to be seated. Unfortunately we were then served drinks in dirty glasses, which the bar staff were happy to change. The lady that then came to take our food order, was quite rude and not very friendly and only took two orders when there was quite clearly three of us sat there! She then decided to disappear at a speed Usain Bolt would have been proud of! Five minutes later she reappeared and we managed to order more food. No apology on her part. We did see her again 5 minutes later though...more bad news two of our starters were unavailable. All this hassle aside once our food arived it was well cooked, fresh and delicious. If only more care were taken by the staff this would have been 5 out of 5 instead of a generous 3. I can't believe the owner allows this shoddy service especially as there are other establishments in Heaton Moor that look after you much better. Maybe more money is made behind the bar rather than by serving food, if this is the case then they should consider concentrating on the bar rather than trying to do a bit of both at the detriment of the diners.

We fell into Town Bar today to get a hot drink and decided to stay for lunch after being quite surprised by how much choice there was on the menu. They have a great selection of tapas in addition to breakfast, snacks and more formal main dishes. We decided to just have sandwiches and plumped for the bacon, brie and cranberry ciabatta, and the fish finger ciabatta. They both came with a carrot & coriander tasting soup which was delicious, and French fries. I have to say we couldn't fault anything as it was really well prepared and lovely, as was the coffee and Mocha to wash it down with. The table next to us had ordered sever tapas dishes and also commented on how good it was, so we will definitely have to return and try their 7 dish tapas offer.

The perfect place to catch up with a good friend. The menu had lots of choice and we both enjoyed our meals. My fish finger sandwich came with small portions of soup and fries, which I loved! Brilliant value at just over £5. I would recommend here for a long, lazy lunch. It's a brilliant places to catch up with friends and watch the world (well Heaton Moor) go by.

We arrived at Town Bar on a Monday evening looking forward to trying the special offer advertised outside - several tapas dishes with a bottle of prosecco. This also featured on the menu we were given when we sat down at a table. However when we tried to order, the young waitress looked uneasy and said they could not provide the prosecco. We asked if she could provide a substitute, and she disappeared to ask the manager. She came back and said the answer was no. A bottle of cheap plonk would have been accepted by us! And I felt sorry for the very pleasant young waitress who looked thoroughly embarrassed. We got up and left, and enjoyed a meal at one of the other bars instead.Won't be dining at Town again.

I spent an afternoon here and it was beautiful. It wasn't too busy, and the food was excellent. The coffee was great and the chocolate bomb cake I had was divine. The staff were down to earth but became very pre-occupied with who may possibly have been the owner pulling up in a car outside.I decided to go in the evening to see how the atmosphere differed, but it didn't feel very welcoming. The bar is quite small but there were a lot of older men crowding around. I could not get any service, and as a result I just decided to leave. As a note, there were some very sticky tables and floors, but otherwise it's a nice place.

I've been to town bar on several occasions hoping that it will improve or maybe they were having an "off" day. However, the off days appear to be the standard...the food is below average and overpriced, service is full of attitude, music must be what the owner enjoys and believe they are still riding on the wave that Liam Gallagher visited in 2010. Adding a glow stick to a drink doesn't make it a cocktail. The breakfast is much to be desired...I'd save your money and nip across the road to the Elizabethan where breakfast is half the price and they don't forget items such as an egg....(yes, this actually happened) I wouldn't recommend this place for a night out or for lunch and it's a real shame given the limited choice in Heaton Moore which I would imagine is why the are still trading after 9 years.

My mum and I went as a pre-Christmas treat yesterday - we thought it was quiet - perhaps that was a sign! We ordered soup and bread and oils for starter, sandwich and portobello mushroom for main and 2 wines and 2 sodas. The soup arrived - nice but very very thick, the bread arrived with plain sliced loaf bread - not the speciality breads as described - when we ask the lovely waitress said - yes I though it was wrong - I will get some other. She came with another plate of 'normal' bread which was rather stale. We said it was not good and was told sorry we are having issues with the chef. The sandwich arrived - a gooey mess - gross no way that you could eat it and the portobello mushroom arrived in a white barm which was was heavy in grease, the chips were wedges and the poor side salad had seen better days. The colslaw was like pure mayo! We said that we would not bother with the food and the waitresses who were excellent and clearly embarassed apologised again and said that the head chef had left and this assistant chef did not know what he was doing. I said they would be better shutting the kitchen as otherwise if you were not a regular you may think this was normal. All food was taken on the bill (as we did not eat it) and we left feeling like we had wasted £15 on drinks, wasted best part of 2 hours and clearly it ruined our pre Christmas treat. Would we go again - no despite knowing this is not the usual standard it was so poor that I have been put off - no manager/owner should let the food leave the kitchen and be served - they should respect their customers more. As for the lovely waitresses - I would find a job somewhere else!

Popped in Town Bar for lunch and was impressed with the sort of baroque almost dungeon styling in there. There was a very nice waitress serving and it was a pretty quiet day on visiting. My husband had the famous town burger, which he allowed me a tatse of and yes it was very nice, not the best burger ever but oh yes it was tasty. I still think £1.20 for a slice of cheese is daylight robbery though. I had a chicken fajita and although it tasted nice, it wasn't particularly mexican andwas a touch bland, there was no guacamole, or salsa, or sour cream (you see where I'm headed here) coupled with the fact it seemed to have been shoved under a grill meant it was a little crisp and dry. The chips are really nice though. I would visit again, the woman on the table next to us had a sandwich and that looked pretty good to me, maybe I ordered the wrong dish. It most definately didn't deserve the 11.95 price and there's also a complex meal deal thing which I personally think could be scrapped and simplified a bit, as you get the impression all the owners are interested in is making money and not really too bothered what people think. But that's merely my humble opinion...

I have eaten here many times during the day and evening and the food is fairly mediocre. On a weekend evening, the tables tend to get taken over by people having drinks encroaching upon the diners. This is a good place for a drink but not so great for a meal out (both in terms of atmosphere and food). Furthermore, don't even think about going during the day if there is more than one pram. This is definitely not a baby friendly place. Having lunch with friends and two prams (with quietly sleeping babies), we were made to feel as if we were causing a massive inconvenience. Given that Heaton Moor on a weekday is populated predominantly by mums on maternity leave, this seems to be a large section of the community to alienate.

A late lunch on Mother's Day with my son and his girlfriend - and it was lovely. I had the smoked haddock risotto, they had steak ciabatta and a Town burger respectively. We were all delighted with the quality of the food. The service was good; the staff welcoming and attentive; the decor attractive ; the tables well spaced out, not crammed.I had expected that it would be packed but it wasn't, although there weren't too many free tables. Maybe it had been busier earlier in the day. There was a relaxed feel to the place which helped us sit back and enjoy each other's company and the food. I won't give it an excellent review as there wasn't anything outstanding. But there wasn't anything I could fault either. Everything was simply very good.

I have been coming to Town Bar for many years now and it's still a favourite, whether for breakfast, luch, dinner or just drinks. I was a less frequent visitor for a while when the menu didn't change but the food here is most definitely back in the fast lane since a recent menu overhaul. The signature Town burger comes highly recommended as do the recent addition of veggie fajitas. In fact there are now a number of vegetarian choices which is brilliant. The addition of an upstairs extension has created more space and luxury, though if you want a relaxed, chilled meal without the blaring music then avoid Friday or Saturday nights. Very good value deal available on Mondays to Thursdays for 2 courses - would highly recommend you visit on one of these nights if you want a relaxed meal out.

New upstairs extension (Uptown!) has added another dimension to this lomng-standing favourite - both literally & metaphorically! Decor is deliciously 'bordello' (in the best possible taste!), cocktails are inventive, food is fun and the atmosphere is by turn, relaxing, chilled or full-on party depending on what time of day it is.

Extensive menu consisted of mainly sandwiches panini etc. couple of main courses, fish, steak however slightly expensive and didn't want huge meal. I am coeliac and there were no gluten free choices on the menu apart from salad. Also during our meal the music was cranked up and we felt we were eating in a nightclub. There needs to be cut offs for dining and/ or drinking. Not a pleasant experience, very noisy and uncomfortable.

Went there on a Friday evening and it seemed to turn into a night club, come wine bar. Was difficult to have a conversation. Not exactly sure what they want to be a restaurant, wine bar or club or just take as much as they can from people at the bar. Drinks expensive and bar staff slow to serve. The bar is small and was over crowded. Not my favourite and will not go back.

A lovely place to chill out, especially when the weather is nice and you can have a table outside. There are free newspapers to read and the menu is varied. The food is generous and of good quality.

I had been taken to TheTown by a friend who lives in the area. The atmosphere was great and we had a good night but towards the end of the night one of the bar staff spilt red wine on my expensive white top. He dealt with it promptly by getting me to take the top off and soaking it in soda water (I had a top underneath) but when he brought the manager over to me to sort out dry cleaning etc she swore at me twice and walked off. I am absolutely disgusted. I have worked in the hospitality industry for many years and fully expected her to offer to pay for the top to be cleaned. To be told "you must be ***ing joking. **** off." is absolutely appalling. Do not expect any complaint to be dealt with by the manager. She thinks she is above the customers.

I went here a few days ago with a friend for lunch. We asked what their 2 course deal included and the waiter snapped back with 'well I don't see how you can have 2 courses for breakfast'. I pointed out it was 12.30pm and we were there for lunch, he then made some excuse about him being up at that time for the first time in 5 years. I asked him if he could put something under the table as it was very wobbly (as were a few others), he said yes and didn't bother. We then got another waitress who took our order and brought us our food. She was better, but we still had to ask for servietes/ napkins (she looked puzzled at this for some reason) and had a long wait for the bill and to pay. Overall, I won't go back.

Busy, metropolitan bar that serves great food at good prices. The two fixed price menus (two course/three course choice) is exceptional value for money. The goats cheese salad with red onion marmalade is recommended! Lovely buzz about the place and with '2 for 1' cocktails on a Wednesday for the ladies, you can't go wrong!

We went here for a snack more than anything on a Sunday afternoon. We found the atmosphere very good and I can imagine the place is buzzing on a Friday or Saturday. We both had salads. Unfortunately, our order seemed to get lost and after a 40 minute wait we spoke to a young lady who was shocked but immediately spoke to the chef. She admitted that it was her mistake and insisted that we pay for nothing. When our food came it was very nice and quite substantial. It was refreshing to see someone admitting their mistake and immediately putting it right. Despite that one slip up, I would recommend this place and will be eating there again.

Town bar is an excellent place for a daytime meal....limited menu but well presented and at a good price. At night the bar become a trendy nightspot and the food is dropped for a totaly different, but very accepable bar environment.

The type of place you go for a catch up with friends for a drink mainly although the place is really rather small and cramped. The menue is in need of being extended and the service could do with being faster.

Very weird place, the door staff seem to think that they’re in the SAS, one of them had handcuffs and a baton. The vibe is going for expensive cosmopolitan drinking hole but lands more on tacky and pretentious. The drinks are overpriced and bad quality. The bar staff seem lovely but are clearly working for bad owners. Your money is definitely better spent at any of the nice locals around Stockport and Manchester. Gave it a try but never again.

Surprised to see the low rating I thought the food was alright and staff friendly. I mean it cheap food at a hungry horse not exactly going to be artisan bespoke burgers like other reviews are complaining about is it? Plus the pub look amazing.

Terrible. Don’t go. Why? Because it’s never been open when I’ve been! Just walked out there today with my daughter, and we hoped to have lunch and drinks. But it was shut, despite stating it’s open on a Tuesday from noon. This is the THIRD time I’ve been (all different days and times) and it was shut each time. I’ve checked the website and socials and there’s no indication they’re shut. Terrible service for such a remote pub.
