We had noticed the mixed reviews about this tea room but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt because we wanted to support the church. However we wish we hadn't bothered. The choice of food was poor, some of the staff were grumpy, and we had to wait over half an hour for poor quality white bread sandwiches (they hadn't got any brown bread). If you just wanted a cup of tea or coffee you might be happy.

Delightful tea room adjacent to Tewkesbury Abbey. Small range of cakes and some snacks. Visited 25/6 however coffee machine was not working although they still did filter coffee and decaf coffee bags. Clean toilets and pleasant staff.

Had the misfortune to use this cafe on a meet up with friends. Only had drinks but they were delivered one at a time in intervals of 5 minutes between! Coffee was tasteless and as weak as water. We did complain and were told that machine was slow. However customers arriving after us were given the drinks straight away. Sorry will avoid next time.

Great name for a tea room attached to an Abbey, “Touching Souls tea room”! Lovely ladies served me and had sausage roll and slice of Bakewell tart, my favourite! As it was a lovely day we sat outside in the shade with the abbey as our backdrop, lovey. And reasonably priced too.

Attractive and clean, with a comprehensive range of light bites, tea and coffees - at a price! Staff were helpful and friendly. Only one criticism: don't EVER microwave pastry; it turns a sausage roll to a filling that will blister your mouth and pastry that becomes chewing gum.

Just had lunch here, never seen rolls with such minimal amount of filling. My husband complained and they added some for him. I should have also taken mine back as never before had a coronation chicken roll with absolutely no chicken and just a scraping of flavour with a few raisins! What an absolute rip off. Such a shame as last time we went we had lovely sandwiches. Won’t be going back!

As our tour continued throughout England, I continued to notice a "who cares" attitude at many restaurants. Not all, but many of them. "Brexit" is often used as a reason "we can't get good staff". Does this mean the French and Irish are more capable than the locals? In any event, can't serve in queue order, can't get order straight, can't move quickly. Got nothing to do for an hour? Come here. Want to visit the cathedral before the bus leaves? Go somewhere else.

Decided to have a slice of ginger loaf cake. No price on any of their cakes but on their boad cakes range from £2.50-£3.20. They also had coffee and walnut cake, Victoria sandwich & a chocolate sponge cake. I was given a very thin slither of ginger loaf and then charged £3.20 ! When I queried this she said we have to cut back as we were giving to thick slices and charging £2.50. Not very professional. Another member of staff then shouted just charge £2.50 that's a tiny slice! The cake was so dry it was only fit for the birds. Very disappointed. Not at all like it used to be

Run for local charities (today was the Abbey PCC) the tearoom provides first class tea, coffee and snacks at reasonable prices. The staff (primarily amateur) are always friendly and welcoming and the cafe is warm and comfortable. In a town which seems to comprise more watering holes every time we visit, Touching Souls is the one not to be missed. Take the time to look at the Touching Souls sculpture, just outside the cafe.

Before visiting the Abbey Sat. 16th March 2019 3 of us came here for a snack. We were greeted by a (fair haired) very pleasant and jolly lady, who made our visit a nice experience. We arrived not long before 3pm when they would be closing, but that didn't seem to be a problem. We had the last two jacket potatoes. One was just plain and the other with salad and tuna. One had a ham and cheese salad sandwich, which looked fresh and full or ham and cheese. A young boy was taking the money on another table with a till on it. He was a well mannered boy and doing a really good job for the ladies. We enjoyed our meals. Looking at the cakes we decided to have a flapjack and carrot cake for afters. The carrot cake was said to be 'really tasty'. The room was inviting and the staff certainly welcoming. Would definitely call here again without hesitation.

visiting the Abbey we decided to have a quick lunch stop in the tea room without any real hope of getting anything worth while from past experiences of volunteer run tea rooms.Just how wrong can you be? What we were served here far transcended anything we expected. The place was spotless and staffed by volunteers from an organisation called "national star" I think. They were young adults with learning difficulties and were serving the freshest and tastiest food (mainly soup and sandwiches but a few simple hot dishes as well) that was as good as anywhere. A brie and grape sandwich made with love and served with care beats any Michelin feast. We had a wonderful meal, simple yes, but we left filled not with just food but with love and compassion and a true feeling that despite everything this world is a much nicer place for ventures like this.Unless you are so stuck-up that you could never lower yourself to tasting a sandwich or a bowl of home-made soup in a place such as this I recommend you go. You will feed more than just your face and your soul will rejoice

We much appreciated the ambience with flags and posters reflecting Tewkesbury's wonderful history and there was no canned "muzak"! Hurrah! Another great plus-factor was that the service is provided by volunteers, so you don't get all those predictable exchanges, like, "Everything all right?", "Enjoy!", "Have a nice day" etc They spoke to us in a natural, caring way and answered all our questions in a friendly, appreciative manner. Normally when visiting such a wonderful ancient building as Tewkesbury Abbey one can reasonably expect to have either a cup of something or maybe a snack type lunch or afternoon tea and a piece of cake in its cafe/restaurant more or less whenever one chooses (within reason - (say) 10.30 to 16.30 like one can at St David's Cathedral Refectory, for example) but not here, regrettably. Yes, one appreciates that it is run by volunteers but only being open from 10.45 to 13.45 is ridiculous and needs a bit of a rethink.

I have been shopping at Teddington Stores for close to seven years. The butchers(especially Richard) are very helpful although the hygiene is questionable. No washing of bare hands between handling meats, no use of disposable gloves whatsoever. Last week the senior butcher went to the external fridge bare handed and brought in a joint and presented it without washing his hands or putting on gloves. The Saturday girls are exemplary, the older staff, one in particular, are abrupt, and can be extremely rude and has a propensity to handle the open display of sweet pastries with no regard to hygiene. This display, close to the toilets and front door, is not covered nor has a sneeze screen to it and is at an ideal height for children to handle(witnessed). I have taken to having a coffee and cake after shopping but, since finding a Victoria sponge for sale with mould on it, have refrained. I am sure the cake covers don't comply with EHO standards! Surely these cakes should be kept in a cool environment with a sneeze screen. I have recently discovered out of date produce for sale(coleslaw two days over). I called this to the attention of one of the staff and was greeted by "What do you want!" I mentioned that this was an EHO breach and needs to be removed. I was given a look of incredulity as if to say "So what". She reluctantly removed the item. It is a pity that such a wonderful shop is being let down by lax hygiene and staff/public interactions! Perhaps familiarity does breed contempt, but I feel that, due to my recent observations, I have no alternative but to look elsewhere for my shopping experience. It’s disappointing that the owner is unable to reply
