Beautiful Breakfast and the bestest fish and chips we have had in ages.Very clean and staff very warm and welcoming also a good take away which was ideal when staying in town.

We decided to have a takeaway on our last night of holiday on the seafront. We had pizzas and burgers from the Boat House. Staff very helpful and friendly, especially when checking for my allergies. Food very tasty.

End of holiday treat for my two teenage grandchildren and my son. We had the fish platter. A portion of fish and chips and a sourdough bacon and cheese open sandwich. All were excellent. Well cooked, well presented and friendly efficient staff. Couldn’t fault it, so thoroughly recommend.

Clean, Spacious and Friendly. Cod and Chips lovely with nice crispy batter and crispy chips. Coffee and Tea very nice, service Friendly and quick. One small niggle I think the charge for peas £2 bit cheeky really didn't mind £2 charge for curry sauce as I do consider that as an extra. On the whole very nice and will be back.

Nice looking place and friendly staff but the food was awful , an open sandwich ordered is basically cheese on toast , the fish and chips was OK but the chips felt like oven chips , not great . Probably won't return .

Visited for lunch twice while visiting Slapton Sands for a week. Excellent service, friendly staff and really good food. Excellent range of Gluten Free options. Try the fish and chips, lovely crispy batter and excellent fish cookery.

I had a wonderful experience at the Boathouse in Torcross, earlier today. The staff are extremely professional and very welcoming. The food is amazing, I had lemon drizzle cake (warmed) with honeycomb ice cream which was absolutely delicious. I would most certainly recommend this establishment. I will be back soon.

A lovely cafe right on the seafront with excellent outdoor seating. The place is dog friendly inside and out also selling doggie ice cream. There is a decent selection on the menus from a light coffee and cake to more substantial meals. As its licensed alcohol is also available. Access is wheelchair and buggy compatible, there is car parking nearby on the opposite side of a fast but not too busy (at least off season) main road. We enjoyed a lovely coffee and ice cream sat outside on the walkway between the cafe and the sea in beautiful weather. Takeaway fish and chips is also available if you want to eat and stroll. Based on my visit I would certainly recommend a visit. A great place in good weather to lose some relaxing hours with the pebble beach right next to you.

A warm welcome, dog friendly (inside), a lovely menu which had a great mix of options covering all tastes and dietary needs. 3 of our group had burgers which looked tasty (and were). I was delighted to see a salad with oven baked cod, simple and delicious. We thought we might need a bus back to our vehicles as my husband has a hip issue. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and genuinly enthusiastic in obtaining the information we needed. We had a really good experience and would certainly return and recommend.

Fantastic place with excellent views. A good choice on the menu and everything cooked fresh. Great service, nothing was too much trouble.

The only thing more tasteless and unappealing than the food provided to us was the lady from whom it was given. One knows it's an issue when your hospitality is modelled off Hannibal Lecter, although quite frankly even Hannibal's food sounds more appealing than the stale and somewhat wet chips we were given. Also the Lady was a racist. Addition from an empath: Although I may not have been present on this trip, the energy exuded from the victims of this experience truly made me uncomfortable. It was almost as if all joy had been sucked out of them, and I fear that the hopelessness they live with will never be lifted. Being an empath, the experience of my fellow sufferers has also impacted me terribly. I am unable to function after whitnessing the aftermath of the horrors that they went through. Food was alright though I had a look at pics.

Kings and Lily provided me with a fantastic service. The food was also fantastic and they made sure my experience was perfect by catering the food to my needs. 10/10 will be coming back again

Had a few takeaways from here, and have sat inside for the first time. The food is excellent, and the chips are just the best. My ciabatta was lovely.

Lovely little place, great fish and chips, excellent relaxed service and atmosphere. I would go back if I was ever nearby. Honestly not a single complaint from four adults and a big black lab who even got some treats from our host. Highly recommended!

We visited for a work get together one evening, we knew the restaurant was closed as its late in the season so we ordered takeaway and sat on the decking to watch the sun go down. Really friendly, helpful and accommodating staff. Great, fresh and superbly cooked fish and chips. We would highly recommend!

As a local to the area I visit the boathouse quite a bit and I’m never disappointed. Such a lovely place with welcoming staff, cozy interior and amazing food. Great selection of gluten free options which is hard to find and always loads of yummy cakes to choose from. This time I went for the chicken and bacon salad with an iced coffee. My husband went for a cod and chips and couldn’t get enough of it. The batter was light and flaky and the fish was cooked perfectly! After walking along the beach, we couldn’t resist coming back to the boathouse for a piece of carrot cake! Would definitely recommend to everyone!!

Airy room with a good view of the sea. Friendly staff. We had a large portion of whitebait with generous salad and an excellent ciabatta with chorizo and mozzarella and really good fries. A delightful lunch.

Thought we would try this as we wanted somewhere for lunch. We were not disappointed! The food was excellent (chorizo and mozzarella ciabatta and chorizo, halloumi and tomato ciabatta). Staff were friendly and the 70s music brought back our childhoods!! We will return!

Worst fish and chips I have had in a long time. Spongy uncooked batter and oily chips, totally tasteless fish. Not cheap either, £14 for large cod and chips.

Was recommended to come here after being told it was the best place for takeaway chips in the area. Well, what a disappointment. It doesn't do 'proper' lovely soggy unctuous fish shop chips, rather we received them very dark brown and dry; looking like oven chips had been shoved into a fryer and fried to within an inch of their life! For this we paid 3.75 a portion and received with our meal only one meagre sachet of vinegar as 'standard'. We were told they 'don't do bottles of vinegar' (what fish n chips place doesn't have bottles of vinegar!) so I had to laboriously open 12 sachets just to get enough to moisten and flavour the chips! On the positive side, they were good about giving me 'extra' vinegar sachets, and the chip portions were quite frugal so we didn't have to suffer long. If you want a similar chip experience try wetherspoons although their chips are much nicer.

So nice to see gluten free options on the menu!!

Perfect place to stop for a coffee and refuel after time on the beach. Grand views of the ocean from the front, views of the lagoon/lake at the back. Really nice owners! Great staff. Great ambience and welcoming feel.

Had tea and cakes with the family and it was perfect. Really friendly staff, good table by the window, and the cakes were the best ever. They're made locally and were all super yummy. Thank you!

The food was very nice. The service was pretty slow (c35 mins for a lunch), although it was quite busy.

Poor quality and overpriced fish n chips with misleading advertising. A 'premium fillet' 'large cod' n chips. Is actuslly a small fillet. Overbatteted and oily. Average Chips all from a generic frozen bag. Kuds sausage and chips was a very cheap processed meat. Pales in comparison to the start bay next door. We took a punt as the start bay que was a 45min wait.. torcross boat house was 10 mins.. go figure. This chippie needs to up their game.

The 'one size' advetised premium fillet 'Large' cod and chips for £14 takeaway.. would be a sml fillet to the competition. It tastes overbattered & rather oily. Chips are generic/average from a wholesale bag. Kids meal 'sausage & chips' has 1 cheap supermarket pork sausage. Kids 'fish n chips' is Hake is mostly mushy batter with the fish breaking into many small bits. Mushy peas were decent.. Overall family dissapointed & unsatisfied feeling. Pales in comparison to the Start Bay inn next door. We took a punt. But wont be returning unless this establishment and the owner up their game.

Thank you for the lovely service and delicious breakfast this morning. We had two flat whites and mushrooms on toast (white sourdough from the Duck bakery) with a poached egg (perfectly done) overlooking the sea and sails. Very relaxing.

Over priced long wait tiny fish supposed to be large? Only thing large is the price, children cooking and trying to be something they are definitely not . We were told that this place was good don't think the person that told us liked us. Go to the pub next door food is a lot better and not served by ignorant children. The guy with the blonde hair needs sacking, good job he doesn't work for me!!!

It has become part of our South Hams family holiday ritual to come here for fish and chips either on the first or last night. These guys never fail to deliver and we are so glad they managed to survive the COVID pandemic. The fish and chips from here never disappoints, and the staff are always cheerful and helpful. Keep up the good work!

Great fish and chips, and ice creams. I Recomend the ice cream, fish, chicken burger and chicken bits. The beefburger wasn't as good though. Lots of choice and food portions for a reasonable price. Beer and cider on draught as well is a a nice suprise.

Sadly we walked past the pub and went to the cafe for takeaway fish and chips. What a mistake. Ordered haddock. Clearly wasn't haddock but fish which had been around far too long and tasted awful. The batter was not fully cooked. The chips dry . Everything was very greasy. The mushy peas were not particularly good either. Typically British didn't go back to complain. We all left most of our food. Seems like this place gets very mixed reviews and we got it on a bad day. Will certainly not return.

Worst fish and Chips I've ever had the experience of. Why has serving fish and chips these days got to the stage of serving frozen chips deep fried, rather than actually serving real fresh potatoes. Prices go up quality goes down. The guy behind the till, either doesn't want his job or hates the owners. It was deadly quiet compared the the establishment serving the same food next door. Should have taken that as a warning and should have waited for the queue next door to die down. On the plus side you also get to take your rubbish home with you as a momento. Why pay for removal of rubbish when the local council can collet it for free out of the already full bins.

This is a disgrace to our great nation. The chips are hard and dry, had better in Watford. Fish pretty bland. Basic stuff done bad, poor vinegar.sort it out

Bad experience. Totally over priced. Got order wrong. Then cook had the cheek to have a go at us cos he could not find us. Even though it was clearly stated at time of order where we'd be. Chips are from frozen bag as is scampi. Cheap ingredients and bad tampered cook. Plus over priced. Eat somewhere else.

If you are going to put notices up in your kitchen reminding staff to upsell flakes and sauces and only fill ice cream cones from the side and not the middle, don't put the notice in view of the customer as you make them feel like mugs! Especially when you charge such extortionate amounts. Clearly not interested in repeat custom, as I won't be coming back.

We had seen the reviews and decided to visit, they only use the takeaway now due to staff shortages, you are welcome to use seating in restaurantand outside. The food comes out in polystyrene boxes in a bag. 2 cod chips, 2 cans of drink was £30.00!!! Nice food but very small thin cod in lots of batter. I was dissapointed.
