Wonderful for golf and a cheap stay, but definitely needs a new carpets and a little investment to bring back the glory old days

The venue was too small for how many people were there Too hot and it just felt chaotic Service was so slow between starters and main. I then had to wait for my main while why the rest of my table were tucking into there's. Oh I was also told I didn't order Seabass!!! Err yes I did...it then came out late looking like it had been plonked on the plate. When the desserts and coffee arrived after 9.30 they were then whipped away from the table with no excuse me, or have you finished? Staff looked fed up and stressed. I appreciate it's Christmas but maybe put more staff on. Disappointed

Had a function here. The food is quite exceptional and plentiful and great quality. The staff are so helpful too. I would recommend this for whatever function you desire

Went here with four members of my family for a birthday Sunday lunch. Car park a nightmare to park in, not enough spaces and spaces are narrow. Restaurant is extremely noisy and everybody has to shout to be heard. We sat at our table and ordered our main meal, no starters required., 1 hour later our luke warm Sunday lunches arrived. Both my parents left most of theirs, two pieces of roast potatoes which is small and were just about warm, veg like warm, Yorkshire pudding cold. Feels like they bulk cook and leave in trays for staff to dish up so it's going cold. This is the second chance that we have given the Restaurant but never again. Lots of staff standing around and then shouting "boom" everytime they deliver a meal. Somebody needed to clean up a spillage so one member of staff shouts "it's alright I've got bog roll here". Spoilt lunch and spoilt birthday.

This venue was ideal for our wake. The food was real good and any member of the many staff were more than willing and able to tend to anything you require. Well done, nice ending to a traumatic day. Thnx

Went for Sunday Lunch, very busy but nice atmosphere. Food was lovely, plentiful and we both enjoyed all of our 3 courses. Well done to all the waiting staff, all attentive and polite. We shall return!

Stayed for a wedding. Towel rail fell off when used it, cobwebs in bathroom. Very good value though, main room clean. Very hot (take a fan). Breakfast was good and lovely location

A group of about 20 of us went here for the 3 course lunch. We sat at our tables just after one. Although the order was taken at our other table quite promptly, we had to wait about twenty minutes before our order was taken. We waited an hour and ten minutes before we got our starter. We explained to the manager that we had to pick up our grandchildren from school, so could they serve us promptly. He did not seem to care less, saying that it was a 'busy restaurant' and we would have to wait. The starter we had, BBQ ribs, was quite nice and the mains came quickly. However, it got to 3.15,the time we had to leave, and our desert still had not arrived. We we left, having eaten only 2 of our 3 courses. Ironically, the food was quite nice - although I did find all of the supplements listed on certain dishes annoying - but the service and the staffs' attitude was poor.

Took Mrs MadDog out for her birthday. After last years celebrations run for nearly six months we had a more muted event this year. Did come here last year and had a really good meal, but forgot to review. I think I was in shock at the cost of the said birthday and duration of things so...... First off, as before we were unimpressed with the bar area. It's just the most soulless bar ever. I know it's mainly a bar for golfers but come on ,let's put some thought into the decor. Please also the tiles in the bar make it look like it always needs sweeping. The main point was to review the food here which is top quality. Good choice of starters and mains without an endless menu. MadDog was a chef in a previous life so knows a bit about food. We both ate from the menu of the day, Mrs M had scallops and pork belly (at a supplement) and Linguine and was most impressed. MadDog had Calamari to start and possibly one of the best Lamb dishes I've ever had. Slow roast shoulder. Just perfection. excellent! Calamari batter was slightly overcooked but didn't affect the taste or the texture of the seafood. All for £20 a head +suppliments +drinks. All in great dining at very reasonable prices. Well done! The dining room itself is light and airy with views over the countryside which is quite pleasant. It can get a bit noisy with the Golfers trying to outdrive and outputt each other but it's not too bad at all. Was a nice night out. MadDog says "Fore"!!!!!

Took Mum for pre mother's day and friend for birthday treats to Top Meadow today and we all had such a lovely afternoon. Great, relaxed ambience and staff who are professionally friendly and efficient... nothing too much trouble. Afternoon tea was very good and plentiful. Looking forward to returning. (Mum's in a wheelchair ... she was made to feel no different than anyone else and assisted with subtly and kindness ...behich was appreciated) We all enjoyed the afternoon tea but agreed maybe another element to savoury would be nice (like sausage roll or quiche or vol-au-vent) even if it meant taking away one or two of the many sweet elements ...just a suggestion)

There were nine of us present, seven different meals ordered, all served together and hot. No complaints from anyone.the service was excellent. We have been here many times , I think that tells a story. Will definitely be back

We have visited Top Meadow many times and have always been impressed with the food and the value for money. This time was very different. We went to celebrate my wife’s birthday and selected a main course we had enjoyed on two previous occasions, slow cooked lamb shoulder. This time, my lamb consisted of about 40 % fat and my wife’s about 80%. On registering our dissatisfaction with a member of staff we were told that they try to get their supplier to send only best quality lean shoulders but sometimes they are fatty. We were not offered any reduction in our bill or any other compensation. We felt that the quality was up to Top Meadow to ensure before serving the meal to customers and this meal will certainly not be our choice again.

Came here on a recommendation with my partner for lunch; wow this place is amazing ! Service was faultless and the food was ridiculous; large enough portions and beautifully cooked. Nothing was an issue for the staff. Will definitely go again !

Been here several times and each time our menue,which was pre ordered weeks before had run out of what we ordered. Other than that ,staff are very pleasant and service is good.great location and has a golf course.

Myself and 3 friends went for lunch. The food was beautiful, the staff very attentive and friendly. I have been here several times and have never had a bad meal. The sea bass En Papillote i had was excellent. As was the Argentinian red prawns. And the baked limoncello and raspberry cheesecake is a must try.

Really disappointed this evening food and staff not good at all been coming here for years but will be definitely not be coming again soon especially on a Saturday Staff not very attentive at all nobody seemed to be in charge we weren’t asked at all how our food was very sad for us I must mention that the singer was brilliant

Lovely place and surroundings. Good food too. However one of the bar staff in the golf club could do with re-visiting Customer Service School. Lost a star as her attitude sucked.

Great place for a function and a lovely golf course

We ate here in January 2022 as part of a large family celebration. Service was really slow and the food wasn't hot when it arrived. The vegetarian option for Sunday lunch was smaller than the meat options despite being the same price. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise because the nut roast was inedible. The tables are crammed together and staff were constantly squeezing past us, carrying hot drinks and glasses over our baby, which did not make for a relaxing meal! There are no baby changing facilities at the restaurant and we had to walk outside to another (locked) building across the car park and through a crowd of staff smoking in front of the door every time we needed to change a nappy. Staff were kind enough to provide us with hot water to warm baby food and the dessert would have been really nice had it not been stone cold when it arrived. Overall it was a disappointing experience and I would not recommend bringing young children here.

Excellent service by professional waiting staff. Some fine tweaking is required to warrant a score of 5. My starter of smoked chicken salad with feta and avocado was a good mix, but the green leaves would have been better had the grit been removed by washing. All 4 of us had the roast beef which was good. However, if the plates had been warmed, the food might have been hot. My husband opted to have coffee instead of dessert. We were still charged for his 3 courses plus extra for the coffee. Surely dessert OR coffee should be on the menu choices. 2 of us asked for tap water and we were charged for this. This is not allowed any more and must be given free if alcohol is served. The restaurant is in a nice setting and, as previously stated, the service is excellent. Unfortunately I found I would go there again for reasons given above.

Food and restaurant excellent and the staff very attentive there was no rush for us to free our table the view accross the surrounding country side very relaxing

I have been to Top Meadow many times and had super food and great service. This post covid visit was terrible the food, starter and main were not good although the dessert was amazing. The worst thing was the flies we spent the whole time eating our dinner swatting flies and watched other tables do the same. Im sorry to leave this review but l feel it is unacceptable to be in a restaurant with so many flies.

Top Meadow was recommended to us by friends. We visited on a Tuesday lunchtime and the place was full. We found that the menu was very consistent and that the food was very well-presented; it was also good value for money. Put another way: everything is done to a price, and for us every dish was "okay" but nothing more. We both found the starters and mains were under-salted. Okay if you know what you are going to get, but not a place for a special meal where you want the food to be truly memorable. Good service.

We were hoping for a lovely meal out for a special occasion. We were very disappointed. Our waiter was terrible - inattentive - never asked us how our food was, never offered us additional drinks, and refused to make any substitutions on the menu (e.g. requesting a different type of potato from the one listed with the chosen entree). The soup was tepid, watery and bland. When I mentioned this when our plates were finally being cleared, I commented politely that the soup was poor, and was promised that they would “take care” of this. Nothing happened and we were still charged full price. We waited ages for our entrees; these were better, but again no one came to check if the food was ok, or offer more drinks. In addition - flies. Flies everywhere in the restaurant - very distracting and unhygienic. Overall an exceptionally disappointing experience. Would NOT recommend and we will not return.

We came here as a large group. Overall the food exceeded expectations. The ribs were delicious. All the food was presented beautifully. One criticism I have is we ordered the chateaubriand and when it was served you could tell they had had it under the hot lights in the kitchen. It didn’t look glossy and delicious it just looked dry. It was tasty the peppercorn sauce was good. Blue cheese sauce needs work. However they saved the best till last desserts were delicious. Lemon meringue and tarte Tatin are a must!

A wonderful restaurant lovely food for special occasions and treats

Some really great offerings and all so well cooked. I started with Watercress Soup which was truly delicious followed by slow roasted pork belly, another great dish. Portions are generous and the food is very well presented and served by friendly and efficient staff. I couldn't fault anything!

I'm not a golfer so cannot comment on these facilities. We visited the restaurant for a family meal, and to be honest it was okay but definitely not special. It took three attempts to order due to misunderstandings and various items not being available, which was blamed on their suppliers letting them down, but that really isn't the customers problem and a better solution would have been to offer compensation, be that a discount or alternatives. But what it really says is the kitchen staff and chef aren't cooking from basic ingredients. However for a la carte prices they should be! Disappointing overall so on this occasion I cannot recommend 🤔

We had a family birthday dinner at Top Meadow golf club. The event was hosted in a dedicated dining room, separate from the golf club bar and restaurant. The room was well decorated and beautifully set up for the party. The bar and waiting staff were excellent - friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was really good too. Altogether we had a great afternoon.

The family went to Top Meadow for my husband and I’s Ruby Wedding. As we had been there before, we knew we would get good service from the very friendly staff. Everyone made the night one to remember.

El personal es fantastico. 10/10 para Jackie, Fiona, Wendy, Si, Nico, toda la oficina y David (el propietario) Siempre amable, educado y acogedor. ¡Estando aquí por tanto tiempo, nos han hecho sentir como parte de la pandilla!Le hubiera dado a esta crítica 5 estrellas, realmente es un lugar encantador pero desafortunadamente, solo pude darle 3 debido a Paolo (Gerente). ¡Es grosero, arrogante, arrogante y te habla como si acabaras de patear a su perro! Lo evitaría a toda costa. Él, solo, le costó a este encantador, pintoresco y acogedor lugar 2 estrellas. Hombre horrible!

Fui a Top Meadow el miércoles 7 de agosto, por primera vez desde la renovación.El restaurante estaba lleno, el ambiente era genial y la comida excelente. El brie podría haber estado corriendo un poco más en el medio, el bacalao era divino y generalmente no tengo un dulce, pero probé el merengue de limón, era encantador. Este restaurante tiene un excelente menú y está dentro del rango de precios de TODOS.

Un gran lugar con nuestra familia extendida. La comida era estupenda y los camareros de buen humor y amable. Es un lugar que parece especializarse en grupos más grandes con varias mesas de cumpleaños. Se puso un poco ruidoso hacia el final de la comida pero nos decantamos en el patio para tomar algo y despedirnos.

Went there for lunch last week, my first visit and it will certainly not be my last. The food was absolutely lovely. We had the set menu of 3 courses. The choice is amazing, the service excellent. We will be back soon.

Tenía un increíble almuerzo de tres platos aquí con amigos y qué valor fantástico a 12 por cabeza. Muy bien presentado también! Comí brie frito para comenzar, seguido de bacalao al horno en una cama de papas nuevas con espárragos y guisantes y luego un pastel de merengue de limón para el postre. No puedo dar a esto una calificación suficientemente alta. He comido en algunos restaurantes de primera clase a lo largo de los años y esto fue muy superior en muchos casos. My husband and I had a golf weekend at Top Meadow - it was great value. The double room was great for the overnight stay (overlooking the 18th hole) clean, warm, tea making facilities, tv and shower. What more for a short stay. Breakfast was freshly cooked and the evening meal in the restaurant was lovely, great atmosphere and great staff. Only extras we had to pay for was the golf buggy. Great weekend was had by all.

the restaurant looks very smart after its re-furb and judging by the amount of diners , there was a good chance that the food was going to be good.

Excellent service from Wendy, she made sure there was a table for us when the booking was mixed up. Wendy was very informative of the menu and looked after all her diners with the same top rate service.

He estado en Top Meadow con amigos durante los últimos años. Well appointed pro shop. Ordinary food, ordinary service,ordinary golf and ordinary prices. Expect no frills and you will not be disappointed. Some idiot insists that you spend £10 at the bar if you are using a card. It's basically a municipal golf course with members.

This restaurant needs to train staff on allergies and customer care. There seems to not have enough staff so food comes up luke warm. I have been disappointed several times. Not a restaurant I would recommend.

I have visited here quite a few time and everytime the meals have been lovely and such value for money but what makes the night is the staff. You couldn't ask for more they really look after you.

3 fuimos a la zona del bar esperando por algo de comer antes de nuestra partida de golf. Me dijeron que no estaba seguro de si estaba haciendo la comida, pero afortunadamente lo suficientemente dijeron después de un par de minutos. Tuve la hamburguesa y patatas fritas y por £4. 50 fue absolutamente deliciosos y una ganga, también vino con 2 hamburguesas y ensaladas.

I recommend this restaurant the food is good quality and a good size meal, I have never been disappointed their midweek set meal deals are great value 3 courses for £11 unbelievable - Friday nights they have a singer the food is al la carte but is still very reasonable.

We went for a birthday lunch and we spent an amazing time.

I visited this place recently with my daughter (10 weeks) parents, sister, brother in law and niece (11 months) for afternoon tea. With the price being so cheap I had relatively low expectations but this was fantastic. The sandwiches were plenty and well packed and the cakes were devine. Teas and coffees were regularly refilled. Staff were very attentive and made a fuss of the little ones. They didn't even seem to mind the inevitable mess made by an 11 month old in a highchair! Thank you Top Meadow for a lovely afternoon!

Nothing pretentious here,just smart ,trained staff and food of high quality ,served and presented well.There is a welcoming atmosphere a free car park and an extensive mainly British menu,which offers really great value.

Sunday lunch. Aparty of 10 met for Sunday lunch. The food was reasonably good. The main problem is : you have to have 3 courses.( or at least pay £18.50 for them) Not popular with people on a diet. They didn't have elderflower cordial. Very Noisy (no sound deadening)

Nuestro grupo pequeño de cuatro tenía una ventana que daba a la carretera de entrada a las colinas de Essex. Podríamos haber sido no más de un par de millas de la M25. Nos llevaron a este restaurante por primera vez por amigos que han cenado allí en muchas ocasiones. La entrada al aparcamiento y los jardines tiene una barrera automática que necesita un código cuando salen. Nos dieron el código cuando se paga la factura, pero la barrera fue cuando nos fuimos, aunque esto no siempre es el caso.

Siempre tuvimos una velada agradable aquí vamos en un grupo grande cada año pero tienen muy aumentado su juego. Comida fantástica, increíble servicio y entretenimiento. He pagado mucho más en lugares de Londres para la comida y servicio que no compiten. Muy recomendable para una gran noche.

Wedding reception what a great place and the view is amazing

Sólo asistí a una función de una comida grande con. Amplio aparcamiento. Escaleras y ascensor a la sala para eventos de arriba. Se sirvió comida para unas 80 personas y se sirve rápidamente. La opinión general fue que la comida era la mejor que he estado con porciones decentes tamaño y nos aseguraremos de cocinado. Nos hemos asistido a este lugar antes y no estaba tan bueno como este. Bien hecho a todo el personal y cocineros por un trabajo bien hecho.

We had a wonderful lunch, service was excellant, we had a mushroom starter and a herring starter, both were very good. For main course we both had steak medium rare and that is exactly what we got, very tender and very tasty served with salad , chips and mixed veg all cooked to perfection, for desert we had lemon merangue and a cheesecake with plenty of cream. finished it off with a very good coffee. thanks to all at Top meadow for a wonderful experience soon to be repeated we hope.

El menú de la semana para £11 es una excepcional relación calidad-precio. Para ello, tres campos y hay mucha variedad con excelentes raciones.

Mi familia y yo hemos estado utilizando este lugar para nuestra familia de egresados cada año que alquilar el club de golf y pedir un buffet. La comida es en general buena relación calidad-precio y el desierto es realmente bueno. Hay un bar que cubre la mayoría de las necesidades. Las vistas son impresionantes. Sin embargo, el personal era increíblemente grosero recientemente a mi cuñada quien recientemente había un bebé. No había vestuarios. El personal no era muy amable, no sonrisa y teníamos prisa por limpiar en 5 aunque habíamos pagado para tener el lugar hasta las 6. Muy decepcionado.

Went to Top meadow for a friends birthday last night. Food and service were excellent and brilliant value for money. We were on a table of over 30 people and all of the food arrived at the same time which takes some doing with that many people. Great singer as well. Highly recommended venue.

We went for a 60th birthday and as i have recently discovered I am gluten intolerant I telephone a few days before. The service I received was excellent. There was a gluten free roll ready for me, I was told most meals could be adapted to be gluten free, and a special dessert. The food food was lovely and well presented. My only regret was after I had a couple of glasses of wine I couldn't finish it all.

Have been coming here for many years for different reasons, birthdays, anniversaries with 14 of us or just simply a meal for the two. Everybody I have taken have all thoroughly enjoyed their experience and returned ! The food is excellent and reasonably priced the best you will find around this area. Staff 1st class.

We have been here many time and its a great place for a family meal the staff are really helpful and friendly Johnny guitar has been here years and is always so happy and makes you feel like you are eating at a family's home. The food is always hot and well presented and I have always seen empty plates. The view over the garden is pretty and its very open and warm.We have spent the past three New years eve evening in the conference hall, now this is worth every penny, a nice champagne and canopies free flowing then followed by a three course dinner and a singer with disco and dancing, everyone puts on their best Sunday dress as my mum said and its so nice to see everyone looking good for a wonderful evening.This lovely restaurant even has rooms so you can stay overnight and for a very good price.

Stayed 2 nights in the accommodation as we were attending a family party.Breakfast was included in tariff and was a disappointment. Very little choice if only wanting a continental breakfast, cereal, pain au chocolat or croissant, no fruit etc. On the Monday morning was told only cereal so luckily I was able to have poached egg. I very rarely eat cooked breakfast but no alternative. We were told only on Sat and Sunday do you get pain au chocolat or croissant. I understand they might not be very busy but am not surprised if this is what is on offer. I would say that the food provided for the party in the function suite was excellent and the room lovely. Unfortunately I cant say the same about the bedroom but that isnt for this restaraunt rating.

Great value for money. Especially with a breakfast thrown in.

Very disappointed with my meal today . Chicken fillets looked and tasted like very cheap frozen chicken pieces. The chips had been double dipped so had lost all flavour , strange colour and not chip like at all! Husband had fish. The strangest colour batter I've ever seen!!!The fish didn't smell good either!!!Dessert - worst chocolate fudge cake I've ever had !Guess you get what you pay for! £11 for 3 courses .Very upset that I paid for 10 of us for my birthday and nobody enjoyed their meal. Also the ceilings are filthy - hundreds of cobwebs too. We had black pieces falling on us throughout the meal. Was told it was from neighbours bonfire! But not nice to be covered in bits of black dirt! Overall a disappointing experience .

lovely place to stay clean rooms clean bedding breakfast in morning was very good so much to choose fresh orange cereal good choice full english plenty of it in fact too much all nice and fresh good service 2 nice ladys
