First fish and chips from here since it changed hands, was not disappointed, I enjoyed the fish no bones at all, chips just how I like them, definitely will be back.

This has become our go to chippy over the last few months. Lovely flakes of skin on line caught haddock in light crispy batter. Can get cheaper locally but nowhere near as nice. What tops it for me is that I can get batter scraps. The availability of these little pieces of crispy heaven makes a fish supper complete for me but are surprisingly tricky to get down here in the South In summary, lovely food, friendly staff, spotless premises, fairly priced and fabulous scraps. Really friendly and helpful, enjoyed the food a lot, we had fish and chips with a saveloy, mushy peas. Homemade tartare sauce which was great! A little bit over battered with the fish and not the thickest of cod I’ve had. But for the price, I can’t complain. The batter was crispy and fresh as well. I would happily come back and eat here again.

The 99p lunchtime menu is crazy good value, great service.

A proper good fish and chip shop! Light, tasty, crispy batter on the fish, fluffy chips, DELICIOUS mushy peas and the homemade tartare sauce is the best I've ever had. The service was really friendly and welcoming. I only wish I had a bigger stomach because the meal was so tasty

Really lovely chippy. Friendly service and great food. We had £5 Cod and chips and it was more than enough. Customers and staff knew eachother by name and it felt like a proper part of the. community.

I go here regularly every week & the food, service & general atmosphere doesn't change!! 100% every time. I can't fault it. Even when they are extremely busy they always greet you with a smile & the food standard is still v. high.... Well recommend for any small or large groups too as there is plenty of space inside but also outside tables when this sun is shinning!! Enjoy!

Usually I’d say this was great chip shop as the food is good, it’s always clean and tidy and I can’t fault the service.., but today I bought the lunchtime special of cod and chips for £5.. which unfortunately was basically a slice of cod a bit bigger than a fish finger with a handful of chips. No where near worth the £5 it cost and especially when you consider the chip portion given was the same size as the 99p portion they do at lunchtime too. Basically I paid £4 for fish finger sized piece of cod with a 99p portion of chip’s advertised as a £5 lunchtime deal. If I’d bought of seen it before I got home I would of definitely asked for a refund. Iv added a picture of the lunchtime £5 cod and chips next to a portion of lunchtime 99p chip portion for comparison. I like this chip shop but this by no means a good deal and more like a rip off sadly

Absolutely superb freshly cooked to order fish supper, line caught haddock was amazing. Super fresh food, great service and place is immaculately clean. Will def be back soon, highly recommend!

Spotlessly clean, friendly service. Excellent chips and fish cooked fresh to order in dedicated fryers so the chips taste like chips and not fishy. Thin crispy and light batter, none of the stodgy stuff here. Recyclable serving trays. Best chippy in Southampton in a long time.

Ordered regular cod and chips. I felt too much oiliness in the fish but the chips were great. The strange part was they don't give ketchup with the chips and you need to pay for small quantities of ketchup. In my opinion they could provide to their customers for free if they are dining there.

I only wish I discovered this chip shop earlier!!! Popped in to try their saver menu and it did not disappoint. Chips where were cooked to perfection. The battered sausage was deliciously succulent. My child was nodding whilst chowing down his fish cake. Portions were ample, food was cooked fresh, very clean premises and inviting. Staff are pleasant. I've been converted! This is now our local chippy!

Best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Though there are a couple of tables to dine in, most customers were taking away or ordering online. I ate in as my B&B don't allow food in the room. Ate the meal from the cartons quite happily. Would highly recommend.

Very expensive for the portion size. 7.40 for large chips, that was medium size at best. Fish lovely. But charging more than most restaurants that you visit for a meal.

New to the area we fancied fish and chips for dinner and having driven past many times and seen good reviews thought we'd give it a try. They have a great app which lets you order online for pick-up shortly after - this worked very well - ordered, walked 5 mins there and it was ready within 5 mins. Regular cod was amply big enough and perfectly cooked, scampi was excellent and chips were perfect (not greasy) and plentiful. Probably the best fish and chip shop I've used in a long while - will definitely be back!

Great service, called seconds after placing the order to tell me that they had none of something and could they exchange or refund the missing item. Delivered a bit earlier that estimate but I was very hundry so that was no bad thing, food was fantastic. Best fish n chips I've had in a long time. Will be returning

Fish tasted so fresh and battetered sausage was the best I ever had. Highly recommend. Only thing i would say is the curry sauce wasn't the best which is a shame but everything else was lovely.

One of if not the best chips and sausage in hatter I have had in a long time. Reminds me of a true english style oldschool chippy taste!

Stopped by chance for a quick and easy lunch. Fish was perfectly cooked moist inside with crispy batter outside, chips were also crisp and tasty and not soggy. Service from the gentleman that also freshly cooked the order was very helpful and polite. Best fish and chips I’ve had in years. I will return. Thank you.

Fish is fresh crispy chips big boy sausage and service was good. however even though I love mushy peas, this one tasted like a fart in a cup.

Been here numerous times before, but I have to say that last night's effort was way and ahead the best fish & chips I've had in years. I'm not a massive batter fan, as my dogs know, but they were left salivating!!!!

One item was missing it was a fish price £10.00

Must be busy as they forgot items of my ordered and had to pay again my first order was £50 +

Literally 10 out of 10! First time ordering and the staff (scouse lady) and the other lad who were talking about how to make welsh cakes were very friendly and gave superb service. Nice atmosphere and you can tell the staff really enjoy being themselves. Portions were super large, in fact we had enough for our dinner the next day and the fishcake was the size of 3 standard ones you'd find anywhere else. Was very fresh, hot, tasty and reasonably priced! Would definitely come back again 👍

Best fish and chips we have had in Southampton in the 8 years we have lived here! Wished I’d got names … the lovely girl from Liverpool was so warm and friendly (never stop being friendly lol) taking our order, she made us feel really welcome. The young guy from Wales can cook a mean fish and chips, they were delish! We shall be back 100% and already told our friend when we saw them how good they were ☺️ Was a little cold sat eating in the shop, but that’s fine, it is more just a take away shop. Really lovely surprise - thanks for yummy food!

Seriously the best fish and chips I have EVER had in my life. Came at end of their day. 10 minute wait. Everything cooked fresh. Had mini cod and chips for a fiver. Excellent value. Partner had battered sausage, chips and curry sauce. Batter was incredibly crispy. You must visit.

Came here with my family after a trip to west quay last week and the guy there was superb. My wife wanted fish but not the whole piece so done a nice small portion with her chips. My son loved it and the guy behind the counter was genuinely the most helpful server we've had in years. Will definitely be popping back next time we are there 😁

Completely wrong order and had it with just eat. I'll be using my kitchen from now on this is all garbage! Do yourself a favour and eat some organic real food.

Staff here is really rude, I only asked how long will it take. And she’s like ‘it’ll be ready in 2min if you want to leave it I’ll refund. I mean just calm down lady. You’re losing customers. Never gonna come again and I wouldn’t recommend anyone

My favourite fish and chip shop, you get what you pay for and this is top quality. Food is made to order and not sitting under heat lamps there's providence from where the fish are caught to the farm the potatoes are grown. Owner is passionate about what he does, always great customer service. Must try!

The bag that the food was packed in had opened up on the bottom when the delivery guy arrived, so that was sort of awkward. But overall food was delicious!

We ordered 2 haddock, thinly battered and well cooked with one portion of chips and 2 gherkins. Fish was nice and fresh with a crisp batter. Chips were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Having been cooked to order both fish and chips were hot. Gherkins were large and tasty. We felt very lucky to have found this chippy and thoroughly enjoyed our meal in our hotel room.

This used to be my favourite fish and chips but tonight’s purchase was absolutely horrible. The chips were really old and the fish was so small I had to look twice. This is a real shame as I won’t be buying here anymore:)

Dirty cold cod cooked in old oil that tasted like it hasn't been changed for months, extremely greasy and tasted disgusting, the chips were hours old and been kept in the warming tray for far to long, looked like a portion of old batter bits rather than a portion of nice fluffy chips, the tartar sauce had a sour taste to it so god only knows how long that had been kept for. This was my first time trying this place as new to the area, and definitely the last time, I will be buying any food from them again. DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED. Couldn't eat the meal and ended up putting it in the bin.

Clean, fresh and they tell you about the source of the potatoes (and maybe the fish too!) Non-plastic packaging, great tasting, well cooked food!

I have been coming to Top Catch Shirley and the earlier shop in Soton for 3 years. The service is great. The staff are great and always friendly. And my preference is Haddock. Locally sourced potatoes and ethically caught fish. Always consistent in quality. All round great fish and chips

Came here on the off chance tonight as have passed and was in the area and gave it a try, the best fish and chips I have had for a very long time 10/10 and would definitely come back again!
