! ! Quite a cool looking place- but not much atmosphere. The music was really loud which made talking over dinner quite hard. The offer was good- three courses and glass of fizz at reasonable price, but selection wasn't the best. Staff were friendly- but major worry from one of the waiters- his hands were shaking SO MUCH when he served us, I actually thought he was going to drop a plate of hot soup on a friend it was that bad. We made a joke of it but he said it was something like he hadn't drunk for a while and then had a drink. DT's? Really odd! Anyway enjoyed it.

Amazing host with impeccable wit and spot on timing! Made the atmosphere in the restaurant. Great attention to detail and made sure our table was looked after. Great rapport built and would definitely return due to his charismatic and welcoming approach. Food was good for what it was as we all had burgers. Reasonable value for money in London. Puddings were a lovely treat and got the taster desserts from another menu. Nothing was too much trouble. Olivier was hands down the highlight for our lunch - would come back if could guarantee he was working.

My friend and I decided to book through bookatable because they had a deal that was £23 for 3 courses and a glass of prosecco and we'd never been to Tonic and Remedy before. I did specify a quiet table but when we came to the restaurant and saw lots of empty tables with views in the Windows I politely asked if we could take one of those, the host was very hesitant and told me they were the "noisiest" tables, I said "it's ok we'd quite like a nice view as my friend doesn't come to London much" then he told me that "they get very busy later" (I'm an assistant manager for a restaurant I know how easy it is to just swap booked tables over especially for just 2 people) so I asked him, again, if we could swap after a minute or two of staring at the computer screen and clicking the mouse, he said ok then. We sat down and was given a very limited food menu and no drink menu. We were given our prosecco, still no offer of another drinks menu or water. While ordering my friend asked if she could order her dessert later the "manager/host" said "We get very busy it's better if you order now" My friend replied she didn't know if she'd want a dessert or coffee so the manager/host reluctantly took a coffee order. Food was mediocre and quite bland, didn't get offered a drinks menu the whole evening, not even any salt or pepper on the tables or the offer of some bread to soak up the sauce from our mussels. The restaurant didn't even get half full all night and we were there from 8pm until 1030pm so I don't see what the table or dessert order issue was about...I assume just the host/manager being difficult. It was a Saturday night!! It should have been booming, I realise now there was one waiter in the whole restaurant for a Saturday evening shift....which tells me maybe they're not such a great company! I wouldn't return nor recommend as we didn't feel welcomed. The restaurant is quite "cold and clinical" and expensive for what it is with absolutely no atmosphere. Needs a serious injection of what hospitality is really about. Total Bill: £35 each, booked through bookatable:3 courses and a glass of prosecco £23 and a glass of wine each £6-£9

Went here for NYE dinner service was so slow it took us 2 hours to get our mains and we had to skip desert because we didn't have time. Was overpriced for how poor the food was prepared (salmon was so salty I couldn't even eat it). One server barely spoke English and didn't understand when I was saying I had a deathly nut allergy and said they might not be able to comply with that even though the menu said to notify the server or your allergy... the next server was very nice and understood but the restaurant was extremely understaffed which made everything move so slowly and poorly. I came here for dinner with friends on a Thursday night. The restaurant was lovely and modern and the staff were attentive. When our main courses turned up (we all ordered a burger as part of the set menu) 3 out of 4 of them were undercooked/raw in the middle. The manager came over to check everything was ok and we told him we didn't think the meat was quite cooked enough, to which we agreed, so promised to get new meals cooked straight away. While we waited he bought some snacks and another glass of prosecco each, which I thought was a nice touch. Despite a limited set menu (we used the 3 courses for £23 deal) the food came out in big portions and was very tasty. If I came again I would visit the bar downstairs and that had a bit more atmosphere than the restaurant.

Visited on Friday evening for our girl's Christmas meal. Downstairs was very busy but we were seated upstairs and to the right, near the kitchen, where no-one else was. There was therefore no atmosphere and we were almost forgotten about. Service was slow and a couple of our starter choices were finished. My main, a chicken burger, was half burnt so I could only eat the chips. The waiter did take this meal off the bill at the end. We didn't get the opportunity to complain during the meal. All in all maybe just a bad experience in what is usually a good restaurant but won't be rushing back.

Despite a Bookatable a £23 offer for 3 courses + prosecco, I had a brief lunch on Sunday.Bar near the entrance, restaurant upstairs. The fact time slots are often all available is not great for business and predictably the restaurant was empty apart from me and a family of 3.Decor is nice, smell of bleach a bit less.Service was forgetful, at best: both when I want to order and ask for the bill, there was nobody around, either they were behind an empty bar or simply not visible.Despite a depressing menu (a gastro-pub would be more inventive than grills made of 4 burgers and 2 steaks), burger& garlic fries were far above expectations and I would recommend them.Since I had waited a bit too much I didn't order a dessert.Venue is quite informal despite smart casual dress code. Prices are on average for this type of bistro but I would spend 5 pounds for a bottle of water (£4.5 + service) at some high-end restaurant not for a lunch at a hotel. Go for tap water. In other occasions I would give a 2 but the burger was too good to be so harsh.

I had an afternoon tea at Tonic and Remedy at the weekend and was really disappointed. Whilst the food was very nice and the cocktails perfectly okay the service was extremely sketchy. We were approached by four different members of staff at different points in time to ask us what we would like to eat and drink - each time our response was "we have already ordered the afternoon tea". We asked for water which we didn't receive and it took 15 minutes to receive our cocktails and 45 minutes to receive our food. Whilst the staff were very pleasant when serving us the whole operation seemed badly executed and the staff seemed to have no idea what the afternoon tea is - at one point a server told us the Pork we were served was duck. I was hoping to use this afternoon tea for my Hen Party but will not be revisiting now. With so many great options in London I would give this one a miss.

I was meeting an old college friend who I hadn't seen for 20 years. I work nearby and had always thought the building was interesting so suggested meeting here in the bar for drinks and a casual dinner as convenient for us both.We started with cocktails downstairs for a catch up and then went up to the mezzanine to eat which I thought was much nicer as downstairs is mainly high seating which is OK for drinks but not so ideal for eating. Spectacular views over Old street which sounds odd if you know the area, but there was something very relaxing about this alternative 'buzzy' perspective over such a familiar area for me.Food was lovely (we both had the burger) and the chips we ordered on the side were amazing chips... a must. Simple menu, simple food but very tasty and well executed and reasonably priced. The main thing for us was the service. Amine, our waiter/bar manager was excellent. So friendly and knowledgable and a genuine nice, interesting guy. He asked us if he could suggest some wines after asking our likes and dislikes and then brought us a couple to try. The one we preferred was actually the house wine so not expensive at all. All in all a lovely evening and a great, relaxed, modern place to catch up with a friend and have a good old chat. I also think it could be good for informal business meetings as was quite quiet when we went on a Wednesday evening. Amine told me about the more formal restaurant too which I will definitely try one time with clients as always looking out for good places to entertain.

The 1st floor, semi-mezzanine restaurant in this extraordinary modern building is rather strange in its layout as when the sun is shining it is unbearably hot and bright so we had to move to nearer the open fronted kitchen which felt rather shoved away. Interesting view over a huge building site! I didn't think the menu lived up to the 'status' or cost of the place and my dish of 'lamb tagine' certainly fell far below a standard one should expect from Searcy's. When our waiter asked if it was all right I told him that it was absolutely not a tagine with all its deliciously matured Moroccan spicing: This was slow-cooked lamb with no sauce but which left a horrible peppery after taste stinging the back of the throat. The couscous was OK. Anyway I was not offered an alternative so ate a few mouthfulls to keep my lunch guests company! The dish was not taken off the bill. The others had fish and chips, good; a burger, very, very good apparently; a ribeye steak, good. The selection of little bread rolls was very good indeed. So I was the unlucky one.

The bar/restaurant upstairs also did very good meals including a couple of set price menus which were very very good. If I was to make a bit of a fuss the service charge (12.5%) on bar drinks is a bit naughty. It seems to me to be a way to hide some of the high prices charged, and not a lot of service is required to pour a beer or glass of wine! However, overall, a great place to relax.

I know they take time but that took the P***What is with them adding service charges to drinks when ordered at the bar too, I would always have tipped but the service wasn't great. They were however friendly and nice

I went here with a couple of long-standing friends - we had a fun time and the waiters were friendly and efficient. We went for the £20 menu which was very good value for money - three courses and a glass of sparkling wine. Being a vegetarian, I went for the pasta and to my horror discovered a piece of plastic which looked suspiciously like the the tab from a tub of tomato sauce. I complained and they said sorry but nothing more. So I would think twice about going here again.

Service was a little slow with not many people in the bar area, but overall not too bad. The beer was cold, served it's purpose and checkout was simple. Bar food available, not much of a beer selection. If you are more of a liquor drinker, then this would probably be a better bar for you.

As staying at 'M' it was only fitting to try a drink or 4 at Tonic & Remedy. To start we opted for a bottle of house champagne which at under £60 represents excellent value. We then moved on to cocktails - my favourite is an old fashioned which was made in the traditional style which is hard to find these days and could not be faulted (all 4 of them). My partner went for Lady Marmalade and was equally impressed. They have a fantastic selection of spirits, the staff are very good and all well priced.

My son and I visited for lunch, and we both had Portland Fish and Chips, a started of bread and butter to share. Two soft drinks, one coffee and one Ice Cream and Chocolate Brownie. The bill, including service was £58. I know London is expensive, but this is really takes the biscuit. The main course was served with the fish and chips inside a paper bag. Something that bought back memories of The Good Life, as least it wasn't in The Sun, although at that price it should have been in The Times! We had just EIGHT chips each at least it was equal numbers, although they looked lonely on the plate. Even the waitress thought it was not enough and bought us some further chips at no cost. Any less chips and it would have to be Fish and CHIP. No problem with the taste but the amount was not in keeping with the premises. Not impressed at all, and could do better, don't be so mean.

I cannot rave enough about this place. The evening started at the bar and seeing the cocktail menu will excite you. There's nothing classic about it, many of the ingredients we hadn't heard of, and it's great to sit at the bar and see everything come together. One thing I didn't delight in seeing was a raw egg being cracked into my cocktail, and still it tasted good (not for everyone this one). The food was amazing! I had the fillet steak with the fries and red wine sauce, ahhhhh, sooooo good. There's a barbecued taste to it, like it was cooked in flames, beautiful. I also tasted the fish from a friends plate and that was also very good, only critique is that the dish was small, very small. The lady who served us was brilliant. She made sure we were happy throughout the evening without being in the way. On the way out, I made sure she knew how good she was. The barman were also good. They've got service right in this place. This place is not cheap so I might have to save it for special occasions, but I really can't wait to go back for that steak.

Had the lamb which was cold and sent it back to have it microwaved and not a new dish cooked which I would have expected especially as they were not busy.Quality was ok but I am sure there are other restaurants locally that would offer better fair.Drinks great / food average.

Held a meeting in the bar downstairs at about 11am and then moved upstairs when they opened for lunch @12. Service downstairs for coffee / tea was OK, a bit slow given we were just about the only 3 people there, a bit annoying as the front door opens automatically so random people walking down the street caused it to open and blow papers and cold which prompted us to move to a less windy location. The barman also complained that one of ends of his bar was also freezing due to the door opening. We were told that the first floor was open all day but then when we wanted to move upstairs at the start were told they were just finishing off breakfast so were clearing up and lunch would be ok from 12. So we delayed the move until after 12. There was a reasonable set menu which some of us took and others took a la carte. Starters were pretty good but also pretty small. When I ordered the main after the starter which I had expected to be larger and thus no need for a main, it took another 20-30 minutes for it to be delivered.Anyway, not a bad lunch, the set has pretty good value and given the opportunity I'd come here again.

Dined here with my girlfriend on a Saturday evening. Food was delicious and amazing value for money. Highly accomplished cooking, reflecting the credentials of the chefs behind the stove. Top quality modern British cuisine and ingredients with some very clever dishes. Service, however, was a let down. Despite not being particularly busy we struggled to get attention and staff seemed to be rushing around needlessly. Our waitress was also overly pushy when it came to upselling us wine. Staff were very friendly overall however. I will give it a second chance due to the quality of the food!

We came to Tonic & Remedy expecting a nice atmosphere and craft cocktails. The bar is in a hotel lobby and feels like it was added as an afterthought. Seating at the bar is very uncomfortable. The drinks are unique… and stiff! The bartenders were attentive & had some neat tricks, but that did little to win us over. There are just too many great bars in this city to settle.

Nice enough pub to sit in or out of in the garden, but service incredibly slow - 45mins for our food to arrive, and when it did hardly generous (and on the verge of stingy) for the price - £26 for a maybe 200g steak, chips and I think 3 lettuce leaves and a single(!) slice of radish and one sliver of onion (of course, no dressing). Drinks also over priced, and still had the cheek to add 12.5% service. A single ladies toilet that was in a state. Will not be returning.

It's great that they have vegan options. I'm not keen on the banana blossom, the texture is interesting. I've had better batter on vegan fish. Chips were lovely.
