The Cod was extremely fresh, an absolutely delicious meal! Highly recommend!

I ordered the sea bass and some mash potatoes. The fish was ok but small and the mash was bland and dry.

Chip, fish, and pie's are delicious. Next time, I might eat in.

Our weekly go-to spot for a seafood fix. Lovely staff. Just wish they could address the fruit flies. Other wise food is consistent and fresh.

Very good cod with chips, large portion, price felt a little higher, but there was very nice service, seating inside and good presentation of the food. Mushy pies were delicious and well seasoned.

Not happy ordered 2 haddock, got home to find 2 cod, i hate when a chipshop does this think the punter wont know, used to be my go to chippers not no more the trust is gone, wish you the best but you are not to be trusted

Absolutely loved the vegan fish and chips at Sutton and Sons! The banana blossom was a delightful surprise—crispy, flavorful, and a fantastic alternative to traditional fish. First visit here was great, second time round the service was poor. Server kept ignoring my table and every time I asked for help he would say wait and forget. Server never brought water to my table after sitting for 40 mins.

I might be biased as I used to be a regular for years and haven't been back in a long time, but I have found the quality overall not as good as I remembered. I only had the fish cakes and the chips but they were both a bit soggy. May have been an unlucky visit, as I have fond memories of this place, and it is still a very buzzing, lively local spot.

Best Bag of chips I've had in 10 years! Fresh, red hot, and flavoursome. Massive portion for £3.30. My wife was astounded and we were both very pleased. Good service and great value. Smashed it

[Islington] I don't quite understand why a lot of the seating area is closed off? This is a very cosy and nice place to stop and eat. The chips are perfect. 1st visit was for cod&chips, the 2nd was takeaway with sausage-in-batter + chips. All very nice. Angela is very friendly, warm, hospitable and charming.

Great basic food which is used by local people in the heart of Stoke Newington. A fried plaice and large portion of chips was enough for two of us to share. The meal plus a tea came to around £20 without service. The meal was well cooked and presented. A vegan menue is available.

Quality chippy! Decent size haddock & plenty of chunky chips. If you've got enough left over for breakfast and lunch the next day, you know you've found a good 'un! Lots of good looking veggie options, too. Proper Job!

Food was very good but i wished the cashier told me the price difference between a regular and lunch meal. The menu is expansive and honestly a bit confusing. I could have saved myself a few pounds but what do they care about saving you money, right?

Where do I start from? Shop is so clean and staff are absolutely warm and friendly. Most importantly the fish and chips looks far better than what the pictures make them too be...I absolutely love this place. Mark my word for it, you get what you pay for. Give it a try, if you haven’t already then like my comment.

Bit too much salt on the chips and they didn’t ask how much I’d like. If I knew they were going to put loads on I would have said something. Otherwise than that it’s ok. Has a decent amount of vegan options and the service is fast. Would likely go back but tell them about the salt issue.

I'd say better than Poppies and Toffs (finchley). Highly recommended the cod and chips are amazing. Not oily and fresh which is most important. Definitely one of the Best fish and chips in North London. Parking on a Sunday is right outside and available for free .

This restaurant is a must every time we are in Stoke Newington. Ordered haddock and chips and a side of mushy peas. Delicious. The staff are very nice.

I love my fish and chips and as I was staying in the area I decided to try this place. They have seating whether you are on your own or as a group/family but I opted to have a takeaway. I had a large cod and regular chips, both were amazing and freshly cooked. I will be back again with friends, but probably to sit in as the list of sides and fish/seafood on the menu is amazing.

Fine food, friendly staff, cozy. In addition to many fish dishes, there are also a lot of vegan options, even dessert (not just sorbet). Dinner with dessert was inexpensive and not too loud on a Monday evening. Highly recommended for anyone who likes good fish & chips!

Definitely not the best today. I ordered today and sadly the cod had absolutely NO flavour at all and the chip were hard :( Normally the savaloy is nice but the skin was tough and meat tasted not great (I think it was the last sausage at that time) the mushy pees given to me free THANKFULLY as they had a VERY distinctive smell and not in a good way! £17+ for absolutely nothing tbh had to throw so much away!

Myself and my partner came in yesterday and it was brilliant! Delicious as always, we always get a craving for this! We were served by a lovely waitress Alyssia? I believe! always so happy to see her there and she makes our evening! She’s always so lovely, friendly and extremely competent! An asset to this business. Makes the delicious meal even more delicious. Thank you! She deserves a raise!

This has to be the best fish (cod) and chips. Steaming hot, fresh, pleasantly presented and of high quality. See from the pics how wondrously white the cod is. Very light batter coating and not a splodge of grease anywhere. Tempura prawns starter was a nice appetiser, but at £8.95 for 8, but in all honesty, they didn't seem homemade, and Lidl Sainsburys, and Tesco do pretty much the same thing for around £2.50/£3 for a box of 12. A very nice eating experience with great attentiveness and service. However, it was most off-putting and unpleasant to discover that the wooden table we were at was quite filthy. Stains and dirt embedded on the surface. On one wipe with a sanitising cloth, the result is shown in photo. On looking around, other surfaces could be seen with clumps of dust. Not very good for any eating establishment, and deep cleans should be done every day! C'mon, don't get complacent, guys. You have a lovely, cosy, remarkable establishment, so please take more pride in it!

The fish is great but the chips are always so bad and undercooked so that the inside doesn't have that soft texture chippy chips are supposed to have. I always order fish from here and get chips elsewhere.

This is my go to Fish and Chipshop. I drive 1 hour and a half in total just because everyone is amazing. I've been going her for many years now.

They sell rock salmon in their own fishmongers a few doors away, but they won't sell it in their fish and chip shop. It's beyond my understanding that they refuse to carry a few bits of fish when they have it. seems really weird. Food is good, but I go elsewhere now as they refuse to sell what I want to eat, even though they have it. i can't work them out..

I had the grilled mackerel. I have to confess, it was so tasty that I devoured the fish skeleton. Chips were great too. I do wish the salad could have a bit of dressing though as it seemed a bit flat and flavourless against such awesome flavoured fish and perfectly fried chips. Biggest let down, sadly is that there was a stale urinal smell permeating through the restaurant from the toilet.

Ordered a skate wing and chips and a rock and chips, also a Wally. Instead received a middle piece of skate with probably no more than 150gs of meat and the rock tasted like a gone off fish cake, not nice… chips were fairly decent but fancied fish and chips not just chips. Much like getting a gone off tuna sandwich with nice bread… pointless…the Wally was hollow in the middle so was probably as fresh as the fish. I did message them directly before writing this review but they viewed it and didn’t respond. It’s also notable to point out their very extensive vegan menu which looks AMAZING on paper (which I appreciated at first as a chef myself) has a designated fryer that’s marked vegan in capitals is where my awful fish came out of. So, nothing vegan here as cross contamination is, evidently, quite an international practice! My friend was also sick the next day, he had the rock! Go figure… So to sum up, Bad communication Bad customer service Gone off food Cross contamination When it said renowned fish and chips I didn't have that in mind. Not what I expect from anywhere with such competition in the local area. Waste of money. Avoid.

This place is so much more than a chippie. They have a full menu that includes grilled fish and oysters and salads. But the fish and chips are exceptional. Fish is moist and flakey and batter is thin and crisp. No sogginess here. And I love their onion vinegar. Can also get a nice bottle of wine. Prices are reasonable too.

I really love this place. They cater for a healthier option which I like as I'm not a fan of traditional fish and chips. Today I had the grilled seabass with salad and it was very tasty and just perfect. The fish is very fresh. Can't wait to return.

Best fish and chips in London by far! We get takeaway here all the time. The real star, however, is the chargrilled fish - plenty of fish to choose from and delicious sides too. Highly recommend it for dining in as well.

It's a totally legit chippy with knobs on! A battered white side of plaice with a side of samphire was perfect! You dont often get to specify the side you'll get. Samphire is a welcome, healthy vegetable of the sea alternative to mushy peas, and I dont feel obliged to have chips. So many chippies promise much, but Suttons exceeded expectations. Excellent value. Pleasant service. I'm delighted to add this place to my list of best kept secrets.

My first fish n' chips experience in England! My friend only goes here when he has a hankering so I wanted to try it. The fish isn't greasy and the chips are nice (despite how they look 👀). I did find my food a bit bland though; I like a bit more seasoning on my food and this was quite plain. And the tartar sauce did not taste like tartar sauce 🤔 Place was clean and the service was friendly.

I travel to London a lot for work and I decided to have fish and chips. Not busy on a Tuesday at 1850 apart from three in front. Purchased large cod and chips, £13.95 and took back to my hotel. Fish had no flavour, even covered in salt and vinegar and the chips didn’t look or taste like they had been cooked. I go to a great deal of restaurants and takeout due to work and business but I shall NOT be back here. Some of the worst fish and chips I have had. I don’t write things which don’t deserve but this does.

About 3 times a month, I pop in for a late lunch of oysters and a cheeky prosecco. It has become one of my favourites places in London. Everyone is so friendly and on the weeks I can't make it, I really miss it. Highly recommended.

The man who took my order was very friendly and even offered to bring my food out to me in my car once it was ready. I came for the vegan food, but I will return just for the amazing customer service.

Good quality as ever, but disappointed with the cod size. Ordered a regular, but was more akin to a fish finger. Given it cost £10 for the fish alone, it felt steep. Hopefully a one-off.

Had the cod and chips. Really nice chips. Some of the best I've had. Thick and soft in the middle with a good crunchy bite on the outside. Excellent! The fish was also really nicely cooked, beautiful crust and hot and juicy in the inside. The only downside to the wonderfully cooked fish was that it didn't quite taste of anything. No spices, vinger, salt, etc. It's as though they've perfected the cooking but decided to remain noncommittal as to what it should taste like. They provide condiments for self assembly, but I was a bit disappointed by it.

Food ok. Venue appeared clean. Waitress was ok up until the point she asked how much tip i wished to give her. The tip should be optional and not asked for.

I can honestly say it was the best Fish & Chips we ever had. You walk in to the restaurant and the smell of the food is just heavenly. We also got to meet Mr & Mrs Sutton. Wonderful people. If you are ever in the area it’s a must to go there.

Großartiges Fish&Chips im Stadtteil Stoke Newington. Wir haben hier die VEGANE Variante bestellt und können nur sagen, dass es sich gelohnt hat, hierher zukommen. Leckere Chips und sehr interessanter "Fish" mit einem ganz eigenen Geschmack. Ein Hammer ist allerdings auch die Dill-Sauce zum dippen. Dazu die urige Umgebung und das freundliche Personal. Top!

Vegan paradise here, the menu is extensive - “fish” and chips (two types: banana blossom and “fish” fillet), vegan curry sauce even vegan tartare!!! Really friendly staff and a nice place to eat! This is a “destination vegan fare” definitely worth a journey!
