Tompsons Fish and Chip Restaurant and Takeaway in Bury

Heard good reports about this eaterie and wasn't disappointed at all. Having had fish n chips in loads of establishments, I'd rate Thompsons a solid 9/10. The fish was superb and I liked the way the currie was served in a silver gravy boat which was a nice touch. The chips were nice but I prefer mine crisper and not like your usual take away chippy type! I ordered mushy peas but I received the processed type and just a tad hard. That said, it was a fabulous first time experience. The staff were so friendly and very attentive and couldn't do enough for you. I'd definitely come here again and would recommend Thompsons to everyone seeking a nice clean and friendly eat in experience. The staff said a cheery good bye on leaving, which made us feel quite special!

Lovely hot crispy battered fish. Beautiful white fish. Just how I like it. Mushy peas, nice curry sauce, chips, muffin and a canned cold diet coke. Wonderful meal.

delivered someone else's food, driver didn't check my code and ignored me when I shouted to him to say it wasn't my order. Rang the restaurant 6 times and no one is answering the phone. I am not happy at all

This place is absolutely fantastic. It's high quality, has my favourite kind of sausage and has excellent customer service. If you can visit in person, I highly recommend them.

Quality of the fish:- poor. The chips were undercooked. The Driver:- miserable and went to the wrong address even though given a tip. I'll never use this place again.

Absolutely loved the cod and chips! I personally prefer my peas a little more mushy but they were lovely. Chips had a good amount of sale and vinegar and everything was clearly very fresh! My partner didn’t think much to the steak and kidney pudding as it was a bit small, but that’s the only area of improvement!

I had preordered my delivery for 16:25pm.. it arrived gone 17:20pm. The Food was all freezing cold so I had to chuck it all away. I had asked if they could put two forks in the bag for me, yet no forks were in the bag so I wouldn't have been able to eat it anyway. I had ordered 3 cans of coke also yet only two were in the bag. Very disappointing all round.

Called in today for a chippy lunch. It is what it is, a chippy with a sit down bit at the back. Nothing special, but it hit the spot. We thought it a little pricey at circa 30 quid for fish n chips twice and two drinks, Just our opinion but I’ve had better for less.

Often have food from here and it’s always been first class. But this time was awful. The fish was that greasy it had soaked through the box it was in, the paper the box was wrapped in and the bag all the food had been put in.

Fantastic food, lovely and hot. Excellent value and always delicious, only place I will eat the fish as very fussy over that.

Me and the wife called in after shopping in bury and we were shown to our seat by a lovely lady who took our orders, The food was very nice although was disappointed not to see a senior citizens menu they only have what they call small plate meals which are still quite expensive for a pensioner. This meant that the cost of a fish and chip dinner for me and the wife cost £29 which I think is absolutely scandalous and won't be going back again. This review would have been 5 stars if the price of the food would have been more reasonable.

Once again the order was wrong, despite me specifically asking them to check it and make sure everything was right. Order said large peas . Sent large gravy. Get it right. Food is good though.

Beautiful haddock. Lightly battered and crisp. Lovely tasting mushy peas. Plus the best English curry I've ever tasted. This has got to be the best Engllsh chippy in Bury. 10/10.

I love the food from here and order every weekend and will carry on doing so just one mistake the week I ordered a large curry and a large gravy and I received small instead but I am getting a refund for both. I will still from here as the food is fabulous

We were clearly given a small portion of chips when we paid for a normal portion. The chips are old and I suspect they just ran out of them and gave us half a portion.

Went in to order a big lunch for work and they come ld not have been more helpful when dealing with all the different dietary requirements, the food was excellent and we were served very quickly, cannot recommend this place enough.
