Tomassi's Restaurant & Ice-Cream Shop in Southend-on-Sea

A second visit and again very happy. Yes it is traditional but what wrong with that. We don't all want expensive boutique alacarte eating. The steak and Guinness pie was amazing my wife gad grilled salmon and was very happy. We will go again.

Such an amazing meal celebrating mum & dad’s 55th wedding anniversary. The food was great as always and the staff so friendly & attentive, especially Sonia who made sure it was a special celebration, thank you & well done Tomassi’s.

In this day and age not to have at least one vegan option is unacceptable. We had just arrived in Southend and my husband was desperate for the loo and so we went into the nearest eatery. On browsing the menu there was nothing for me. When my husband returned we asked if there was as vegan menu. The waitress said yes and brought a different menu over. Nothing vegan on there either. We asked again was there a vegan menu, she thought we had said "bigger menu". She pointed to the options with "V" they are vegetarian I said. Anyway, she said no they did not do any vegan options. I had to opt for a baked potato with no butter and baked beans. When it first arrived there was coleslaw. I again said, "I am vegan, I cannot have this" I then eventually got the baked potato. Pretty substandard and will not be returning unless they review their tired old-fashioned menu.

Despite having lived in Southend all my life only been to Tomassis once before and my wife has never been so we popped in while in the High Street for a light lunch. It is very nice with traditional waitress service. Friendly staff but perhaps the light lunch menu is a bit restricted? We had paninis followed by ice cream desserts. All was good but may be a little on the expensive side? Just over £40 for 2 for a light lunch?? I would return though as it is a traditional place and does have a certain quality.

Cappuccinos were very nicely done. Has a Chinese Magic ice cream was quite nice - ice cream was a bit melted though when it arrived l. Good and interesting selections of ice creams - very nice.

As always the food was fantastic plenty meat and vegetables their were 10 of us yesterday and everyone said it was a a very good meal and good value also the waitress asked if anyone had am allergy which is very sensible

I had Lasagne couldnt find the beef and the cheese sauce on top was melted but not browned . Most disapointed.... the waitress said sorry. Gordon G

We have been customers of Tomassi's for over 50 years. We popped into the cafe for a light lunch today and were happy with the food and service. Unfortunately, standards seem to have dropped when it comes to cleanliness of glasses and cutlery. We were served a rather dirty-looking drinking glass, so asked for it to be replaced, and then a knife we were given definitely hadn't been washed properly. That was replaced. On a previous visit we witnessed clean cutlery being dropped by a waitress and, instead of it being returned to the kitchen, it was just put in with the clean knives. Not very hygenic.

This is an old fashioned cafe/restaurant. Old fashioned welcome, old fashioned service ethos, old fashioned attention to cleanliness. We had dinner one evening and brunch the next day. Both were enjoyable and tasty. The staff seemed happy to serve and friendly. We would recommend this establishment.

Been away for too long and was reminded just how nice this place is. Excellent food, friendly professional staff and very good value. Will be back soon

Staff helpful and friendly. Wasn’t keen on our seating, as it was rather dark. But it was roomy for a pushchair and Walker. Disappointed with my spaghetti bolognaise it was incredibly salty and the Parmesan tasted just like a hard cheese. The salt left an after taste for hours. The vegetable medley comprised of peas and carrots. The vanilla icecream was lovely.

I felt the restaurant has let themselves go. The entrance looked uninviting. However once a waitress came to the door she was OK. Enjoyed brie wedges. The chicken in creamy sauce was nice.

Tomassi's used to be a lunchtime favourite of ours, and we went to lunch there today. We ordered 2 x fish and chips and 2 x soft drinks. When we were served our lunch we could not believe how small the portions and drinks were, they were child size and we left the restaurant extremely hungry. No one asked us how our meal was when paying the bill, which was £32.00. It would have cost Tomassis's 20p to put a spoonful of peas one the plate, which would have filled one of the gaps. My suggestion to Tomassi's is to either increase the portion size or present the meals on smaller plates at a reduced cost. I am sad to say that we will definitely not be going back.

This was a lovely find during the winter. We had a warm and safe welcome. Covid compliant. Friendly staff. Not had a chicken Kiev in years in a restaurant! Or seen a knickerbocker glory on a menu, which sadly I was too full from main course to eat! We had chicken Kiev and fish and chips which were served hot and were tasty. A very good value eatery, highly recommend.

At last we have been able to get out of the house and go back to our favourite restaurant Tomassis. True to form, the fish was wonderful - skate and plaice so fresh and the desserts really delicious. The staff are so pleasant and helpful. Love the way the restaurant has been adapted against Covid. Thanks everyone.

This was my first visit and will definitely not be my last. Lovely clean establishment with relaxing decor, the real plants around the place was a treat rather than being surrounded with plastic tack. You could come for a meal for two or with the family and I believe you will have an amazing experience. Me and my other half were greeted by our wonderful waitress Ana, who went above and beyond for us, nothing is too much trouble for the polite, clean and experienced staff. We will be back for a roast, they look SUCCULENT !

Good quality food and very helpful service the food is always good quality and plenty of choice. We were very pleased with the waitress Sonia.

Had a wonderful anniversary lunch here on Thursday 8 th October. Very nice welcome when we arrived. Shown to our reserved table with the area around it covid friendly. Starters of chicken bites for me and deep fried Brie for my husband. My main course was Deep fried Haddock and chips which was lovely and himself had Ham Egg and chips which was equally good. With a nice glass of red wine to accompany the meal we were very happy with the service the food and the price. Would definitely book again.

Had a good lunch here. Hadn’t been to the restaurant for several years, but the customer service remains excellent. Plenty of Covid secure measures were in place. There was a great choice of food; I opted for the spaghetti Milanese. It was superb; with wonderful tasting sauce. I had the ‘stars and strips’ ice cream for dessert; again, very tasty. I would definitely recommend and return soon.

Had a quick bite to eat for lunch. Reasonably priced quick light food. Well maintained and socially distance measure were in place. Ice cream sundaes were good!

We go to Tomasis regularly when we are staying in Southend. The food is always excellent & the cost good. Recommend the Roast & the Fish & Gingerbocker desserts are also great!

We went for a Friday lunch. It's many years since our last visit to Tomassi's but we will be returning soon. Only had main courses which were very good - reasonable size, well presented, well cooked and good flavour. Prices of the main dishes were very reasonable but if you wanted to add extras they were £2.95 each which would bump up the price quite a bit. Service was effcient and friendly though the waitress was a bit pushy trying to get us to have a dessert. Overall a good place to eat.

When we go to Southend, which is fairly regularly, this is our restaurant of choice. Had another nice meal there today. However since lockdown the menu has reduced slightly - please, please, please bring back the steak and mushroom and ale pie.... it just wasn’t the same without it.

All 4 of us pleased with our meal choices, quite generous portions & delicious. Pretty spot down by the river. Looks like it could be a great spot for evening outdoor dining. Would definitely recommend & return to if in area.

service and food second to none.staff are so helpful and always with a smile on there faces,we had not booked but we were shown to the other resturant and had what we would normally would have had in the main reaturant.

This is a lovely restaurant. I live in Luton but always go there when I am in Southend for a day. The atmosphere is very friendly, colourful and the staff at very helptul.

We had a great lunch here for a special anniversary, the menu had a varied selection of food and drink all competitively priced. The staff observed the covid regulations in a helpful and efficient manner, the upstairs section was closed for renovation but the downstairs area had well spaced tables and we had a good view from the front window, would therefore recommend a visit to sample the menu.

I am absolutely appalled at the service in this place I have been here before as a customer and I returned here the other day not to dine but to ask at the front doors if I could please use their baby change facility as I had already been walking around the high street trying to find somewhere and absolutely everywhere was shut due to COVID. I asked in the Royal shopping centre opposite if their baby change facility’s was open they said no but to go over the road to this place as they would be more than happy to let me use theirs as it’s for a baby. I was greeted by a young waiter who didn’t help me at all just quickly asked an older woman who I’m assumed was above him and she quickly said to me straight away “no it’s for customers only” to which I then replied that I was told I would be able to use the baby change as I was in desperate need and she still continued to say no and that the royal shopping centre should open their own toilets etc and that I should make a complaint about them!She had no remorseful attitude what so ever And she could clearly see that I was in real need to change my son and she just stood there and looked at me. Little did this woman know that me and my family that was waiting outside with me was going to return to this place for some lunch after we had been shopping but I would never ever return and give my custom to somewhere that would actually turn away a baby to be changed which would have took literally 10 minutes! I then had to change my son in he’s buggy in an alley way next to the restaurant as there was no where else I could go! The woman come across very rude also which was so uncalled for as I was very polite when asking if I could use their faculties and she should be ashamed that she acted that way and turned away a small baby! I will never ever return here again and I think the workers need to work on their BE KIND skills much much more!!!

been here many times over the years, decided to stop off for brunch to start off our day out, felt like we were an inconvenience to the staff, food and drinks were more or less thrown onto the table, the brunch was unpleasant, sausages were overcooked, the mushrooms and rosti were raw, very greasy and inedible, the waitress never checked or asked if we were OK at any point during our visit just threw the bill onto the table,won't be returning

Was so looking forward to coming back to here. So disappointed in my lunch, skate was nice enough but chips just frozen cheap ones tiny pot of tartar sauce no veg. Knickerbocker glory not the beautiful dish it was either- loads of pineapple chunks very very poor.

Always come here for lunch , delightfully traditional and unchanging as the years go by. Solid main meal fare, but the real draw is the great ice cream menu full of tempting delights, don’t miss it.

I had Lunch in Tomassie’s yesterday - first time since lockdown and found the same friendly welcome and delicious (though shortened) menu. The management have installed many safety measures and I really enjoyed the experience. I felt safe and well fed. Congratulations Tomassie’s on keeping up your high standards whilst complying with guidelines. I will be back!

Det här måste vara ett skämt? Trodde vi gick in i en trevlig italiensk restaurang men vi hamnade i en skolmatsal från 50-talet. Maten var som uppslevad för fängelsekunder troligtvis enbart färdigmat från frysen. Förutom det bröd vi trodde vi tog innan maten. Bredda, torra, grova rostbröd....

Should have checked Tripadvisor, we were hungry and it looked nice on the outside so we thought, how bad can it be. In an age when there is so much competition and good food around, this place is not worth a visit. The food really isn't great. It's just about edible but that's it, I would recommend to go elsewhere.

Our first visit. The restaurant looked nice when entering, the waitress pleasant. Our food was served and thats when it all went wrong. The food immediately reminded me of a cheap 2 for 1 pub lunch. So, l would say if you want to eat frozen oven chips and use smelly toilets then Tomassis is the place for you. If not, avoid.

My husband and I both have memories of our grandparents taking us to tomassis as kids for a very special meal and ice cream sundaes as a big treat !!! Which it was !! So with that in mind we decided to go there last night as we were staying in Southend for the night . I ordered chicken curry and my husband couldn’t decide so went for the waitresses recommendation!!Alarm bells should of rung when our meal came only five minutes after ordering!! Mine was ok but curry , rice then peas & carrots ???? My husbands looked like spaghetti chucked on a plate with a spoonful of ragu sauce plonked on top then on top of that a breaded chicken fillet that had been crucified in a fryer on top !!! Didn’t look good and he just couldn’t eat it , it was so bad !! I then ordered an ice cream sundae, well they have shrunk so much not the sundaes you used to get there !! The waitress did apologise and took my husbands meal off the bill , but it’s such a shame how a place can go so downhill over the years !!! We certainly will not be going back and would not recommend it to anyone!!!And we ended up getting my husband something to eat in Mac Donald’s!!!!

Tomassis is a lovely, let's call it Italian-ish restaurant. It hasn't changed a lot since the 70's and all the better for it. It has a varied traditional menu, with little of the fancy stuff for' what I call the quinois curiosities. although there are veggie things I think.The food is excellent, our personal choice is the fish, but everyone is tucking in to something looking very tempting. OK, just once over many years did we have a bit of a grumble, but that was the first over many years.We were there again yesterday and on a Friday lunchtime, about the third time this month, and I had a job to see an empty table.Tomassis's is unashamedly non-trendy. Everyone is chatting happily, and behaving politely, maybe an indication of the typical customer. For the British readers, it's very much one for the 'Warners' brigade. Everyone behaves themselves. I hate those yelling shrieking 'hen party affairs' and thank the lord for that. They aren't too common at Tomassis.The staff are friendly and helpful. It's a reasonably priced, non-plush but spotless middle-of-the road restaurant in Southend High StreetIf you are an ice-cream addict the dessert sundae menu is to die for.

I am sad to be writing this review as I have been to Tomassis since I was a child and have wonderful memories, but alas no more. I have not been in foe yrs and was saddened by the decline.Surely it is not owned by the family still? The toilets were disgusting, they smelt of urine badly and not that day, the floors were disgusting and the doors and walls (downstairs( never went up so cannot comment. The coleslaw looked like it had been bleached white! ! The jacket potato was solid and had hardly any tuna or cheese on! I would rather pay more money and have good food as I am treating myself and guest. I do not like writing bad reviews ,but the toilets are unforgivable. Will never return neither my family, the more I tell them they all say the same.

Tomassi’s hasn’t changed ... for over 30 years.In many ways, that’s a good thing. You know that you can expect good food, good service and good value for money. The range of choices is excellent; the food, for the most part, is well cooked - but much is prepped from frozen. The salads have a reputation that is hard to beat, and the fried haddock and chips is something that I come back for on a monthly basis - although it is on the opposite end of the highstreet from my office!The ice creams, however, are to die for! Rounding off a good meal with one of their many delicious choices is something that just has to be done in Southend!!! A very nice welcome. The staff maintain an exceptional standard of service. Everyone is greeted on coming and leaving. Loved the brie wedges. Seafood plaice was excellent, very good taste.

The atmosphere in this restaurant was warm and inviting, and the staff were so friendly. There were several regulars eating there, which attests to the good ambience and value. The ice cream sundae menu was the longest I've ever seen!

Good selection of food on the menu and good value. Friendly service. I try to eat at this restaurant about every 4 to 6 weeks and have always enjoyed the food here.

Went there for a group Christmas Meal. Arrived about 10 minutes before the scheduled time and told that the tables were not ready, sent into the bar room but no seats so most of us had to stand. We then told after the scheduled time that we could go to our table and all seated. Meal went OK from there but no chance to talk to anyone except those on our table.The food was OK, service was good and considering that Tomassi's was nearly full they worked hard.All in all good have been better but could have been worse, all in all OK

My wife and I went in on a busy Sunday for a roast dinner.

My party of 9 people ordered starters, main courses,ice creams, coffees and drinks with the meals . We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the quality, portion sizes and presentation of the food was outstanding . The staff were attentive and polite. We have been coming to Tomassi for many years and always enjoyed the atmosphere and the fact that we are able to talk without the intrusion of loud music as we eat. Thank you,Tomassi,for making my birthday meal so enjoyable.

Went here yesterday for a lunchtime meal and was extremely disappointed by the attitude of the maitre d’. Obviously only interested in regular customers who were welcomed with open arms. I asked for a table for two which seemed to be a problem although there were lots of empty ones. I also asked to book a table for 5 but was told to see her later (again because regulars were just coming in).

Went for a double date with partner and friends.

We enjoyed a really nice Sunday dinner followed up by an amazing ice cream dessert with 5 of us eating for £70 which was quite reasonable. Decor hasn’t changed much since the last time I remember going in there back in the 90’s but the food and staff were very nice.

A great restaurant in Southend High Street with a varied menu and the best desserts in the town. The food is excellent and the staff and owners are a friendly and polite bunch. It seems to attract an older crowd and it is very rare to see teenagers drinking creating there unless a accompanied by parents.

Very average food, small portions. Wouldnt come here again in a hurry. Quite expensive for what it is. Some of the staff are friendly.

Whilst visiting relatives, was treated to a meal at Tomassi's, what a great venue. The staff friendly and corteous. Lovely setting, oh the food, superb, The desert I could not resist Maple and Walnut Sundae which went down a treat. The following day my wife and her friend dined there !!! Would reccomend this venue which also caters for large parties.

Popped in for lunch last week while on a day trip to Southend from Kent. We had been there once before, a couple of years ago and had a good meal with good service. Happy to say that our experience was just as good this time round. My husband had fish and I had pasta. Both were excellent and the service was quick and friendly. We had wine, two courses and hot drinks and the bill came to £42 - very good value. We would definitely go there again.

Having booked a table for 6.30pm and arrived on time, we were told the only seating available was to share with another couple who were already eating. This was not something we wanted to do and although the couple were not even asked if they minded sharing, I suspect they wouldn’t have been too happy about the arrangement.

Having lived in the area for more than 30 years, I know Tomassi's well. Stopped going several years ago because of being harassed by the managers to leave after our meal because "there are people waiting for your seat". This despite having incurred a large bill for a full lunch for four people and not having finished our coffees. In the last couple of months we have returned several times, having decided to give them another chance and hoping management attitudes might have improved. Interestingly, we now have no problem getting a seat without booking. Today I ordered salmon and asked for the new potatoes to be replaced by cauliflower cheese since they are the same price on the menu. The waitress conferred with her "manager" and told me that this would not be possible, and that I would have to pay "a bit extra" for the substitution. I couldn't be bothered to argue. When our food arrived I had salmon and peas/carrots for which I was charged full price, plus a separate dish of cauliflower cheese for which I was also charged full price. So inflexible and incredibly mean spirited but hey, this is Tomassis so I'm not in the least surprised. I have to say that the waitress was lovely, and obviously very embarrassed. This was their second chance, there will not be another!

A modest restaurant with no frills and good value. You get fresh seafood, tasty pasta and quick and polite service from all the lovely waitresses. I recommend the cannoli pasta, yum! The skate is beautiful and fresh but the brown sugar sauce wasn’t for me. The frito misto was also very tasty and fresh. (Salad could do with some dressing)

Came for a visit yesterday, haven’t been to tomassis for a couple of years, used to be a regular of the restaurant so me and my family thought It would be nice to go for a meal there, was very disappointed, I had the plaice new pots and veg melody which turned up 6 minutes after I ordered it, the plaice was swamped in sauce, half a dozen small new potatoes, two spoonfuls of peas with sliced Carrots, so much for their vegetable melody. My partner had chicken chasseur, which was dry as old boots and very tough, which she couldn’t eat and had to leave. Was so disappointed, my partner the most because she had to cook for us when we got in. What’s happened to this place? Used to be so nice.

Second time we have been here. Service is fantastic and good was great. Would come again next time in Southend.

We ordered chicken breast chips etc, but received half a very old skinny chicken. So instead of a reasonably sized chicken breast, we received a thin leg attached to an even thinner breast, full of bones. It looked as if it had walked many miles to reach the plate. When queried, the waitress said that this is how they serve it now. Not as described on the menu

We had to make brunch arrangements, since our flight was cancelled and we had to cut our day in half. Tomassi's wasn't our first choice and we wont be coming back here again.

Just had a very average meal at Tomassi’s. Ordered Penne Napoli which came with very little taste and three very thin slices of pepperoni. Dessert menu is good but pasta is lazy.

Having lived in this area all my life and being aware of the good reputation that Tomassi has locally, I made my first visit there this week. What a disappointment!

Been two Sundays running cannot complain excellent food as always, first class service as well would never eat anywhere else in Southend!

It was a nice day, weather wise, so it was decided to go into Southend for lunch, and Tomassi's was the selected venue. I was surprised at how empty the place was on such a sunny day. The menu was varied and extensive. I had the frittata (a slice) and it arrived far too quickly to have been cooked fresh, thus it was a little hard and not piping hot. The ice creams were good though. The whole experience lacked lustre and sparkle.

We stopped here for lunch after a morning at Sea Life and Adventure Island. The service was quick and very friendly. The lunch again was delivered speedily and was fresh and delicious (haddock and chips / scampi and chips) .

tomassis was recommended to me by my relatives. they was not wrong .everything was good and reasonably priced .the service was quick and staff were polite. we first went to go in about 12.30 pm, but the place was packed as it is very popular. however we returned at about 15.30 and there was more room and we had an enjoyable afternoon

great sunday lunch - to improve a jug of gravy present on table as roast dinner has minimal gravy, also new cultery knifes are not sharp at all.

Looking for somewhere to eat while visiting Southend and came across this Restaurant by chance. It had a good varied menu and some good wines at very reasonable prices. We both had a three course meal with wine and coffee for just over £50 - 00. The service was swift and very professional. I wish I could have remembered the waitress as she deserved a very special mention. If in the area again this is a place I would return too.

My last review was not commented on by the owners which shows what I was complaining about is the normal practice for Tomassis . Personally did not want to come here again but visiting friends in the area were going to the Fish/ Chip places at Leigh On Sea. However our friends said being hot lets go back to Tomassis it is nearer. Upon arrival not very busy a large noisy group as you go in. Two ordered grilled plaice with new potatoes. One ordered Liver and Bacon and one ordered Skate and chips.. I felt all the plates in view of my previous review and all were barely warm. Assumed although they never answered my review might have taken what I said on board. Skate was anaemic considering supposed to have been in a deep fat fryer. Frozen chips were golden brown which is how deep fried fish is supposed to be served. Food was barely warm other than where it had been sitting under the lights on the pass. Very small skate it was as well, Others liked their food but again the elderly were bought up not to complain. Over the years when eating in a Fish restaurant it has always been served that hot you have to blow on it to cool before putting in your mouth that is how food should be served in my opinion particularly Fish and Chips, But here served barely warm on barely warm plates to start with unless you are a quick eater it is stone cold before you clear your plate. Decided to have the Pancakes that tasteless I asked the server do they buy these in or make themselves? she replied make themselves well gave to my husband and he said I have had much better. Really mean this will not eat here again they need a Chef who knows how to cook Fish and Chips correctly and make Pancakes properly.

We had a 90th years oldbirthsat lunch celebration party today.. The food and the ice cream were delicious. The staff were efficient and helpful.

It has been three years since I last ventured down from Scotland to my home town of Southend. What better place than Tomassi's to have lunch after a nostalgic trip down the Pier. I didn't have my beloved skate this time, but the fried plaice. It did not disappoint. Light, thick and as soft as milk. This time I didn't have an icecream and regreted the scone at the end of the Pier that 'filled a hole'. I hope it will not be another three years before I can enjoy another taste of a 'must' restaurant in Southend.

Having visited Sunday afternoon 07/07/2019 we have been going there for over 30 years we paid our bill with 10% tip in cash to the waitress who served us we then left but to our surprise the waitress came after us insinuating we had left without paying I gave her the bill which she had returned to me after taking our payment my wife and I were both totally stunned and humiliated if front of several people in the high street, next day my wife complained to Antony Tomassi who made excuses regarding another incident he said he would think about it and contact me the following day which as yet he has failed to do so and we are still awaiting an apology.

Had a day out with my step-dad, was on our way back from seafront to go and find a restaurant on way home and came across this place. We both had 2 courses and 1 drink each and bill came to £30.25. Great value for money, food was nice, service was very prompt and we did not have to wait for very long. Will definitely go again when next in Southend

A lovely meal with a party of 10 friends and family, the day after our wedding. Good service, everyone enjoyed their meals, and as we’ve come to expect the ice cream sundaes were fabulous!

Called into this place with my wife /carer as it wasn’t very busy which is good for us with the wheelchair sat in the middle towards the back moved a chair so the wheel chair could get in snooty lady immediately came over which we thought was to take the order but no it was to remove my wheelchair to by the exit door in case it got busy and the customers could struggle to get past l tried to explain 1 they were not busy 2 they could easily get past by walking to the side of the table but she insisted even the couple on the next table offered to help but we decided to leave as to not cause a scene as for the staff being pleasant maybe ok if your not disabled and one of the inset. If your in a wheelchair give this place a wide berth as it’s a most uncomfortable experience.

Popped in for a few ice creams, rum and raisin has always been a favourite.

Ieri pomeriggio io e il mio fidanzato abbiamo visitato la cittadina di Southend-on-Sea, un posto veramente carino, ci siamo fermati in questo bar/ristorante per prendere un espresso, siamo andati al bancone per ordinare e un signore In divisa, ci ha chiesto in modo molto rude se stessimo aspettando qualcosa da mangiare,abbiamo chiesto 2 espressi e lui sempre in modo arrogante ci dice di andare al tavolo e aspettare la cameriera. This was the first time we have had breakfast in the cafe and it won't be our last. I had the vege option which consisted of grilled halloumi, egg, mushrooms, beans, hash browns and tomato. It was lovely. My husband had the full English and wasn't disappointed either. There was lots to choose from on the menu so i will definately be going back.

Once before we had a bad experience at Tomassis but believe in second chances. However on this occasion I wish I had not. My Wife and I ordered the Steak in peppercorn sauce. One medium one medium rare. Both of which were well done and tough. The peppercorn sauce looked like peppercorn however that was the only resemblance, basically it just tasted like melted butter. Plus the place was nearly empty so no excuse for the very poor quality. Would of gave a zero if the app would of let me.

We enjoy the lovely meal here, the waitress was informative and attentive. Even though it was a busy Sunday we were made to feel relaxed and unhurried. The food was what you’d expect p in a well run restaurant. It wasn’t the best meal I’ve ever had but it was good value for money and very tasty.

We popped in here for a quick early lunch prior to making a hospital visit.

I asked to swap my egg (as I’m vegan) for a hash brown, more mushrooms, or anything like that. Most places are keen to accommodate this request. I was told I could only have more tomatoes, instead. I thought ‘fair enough, if a bit ungenerous’ and accepted.

We arrived as they were closing but the lovely lady said it was ok.situated on the high street. Seating was comfortable service was very good .food was ok , hot and fast to table ,

My partner and I were in Southend for a concert and decided we would try somewhere different. After looking at the menu in the window at the menu we decided to try some food here.

I first visited in May 2017 and put a review on here then. Well yesterday we came back with friends for another visit. Sad to say things are just the same up came four dinners on stone cold plates. Needless to say the Skate and chips I ordered were just warm, It was lovely food not enjoyable as just warm. I imagine what with being left sitting on the pass plus being put on cold plates what does one expect, Also why not state on the menu whether a wing of Skate or a middle. I assumed would be getting a wing like last time but no this was a middle which is not as nice. Another thing why use frozen chips? Husbands Bolognese as it was put down I asked is that a childs portion? it was small. Finally I ask after all your years of trading surprised you serve hot food on cold plates why?

We often go to Tomassis, as it's my parent's favourite restaurant in town. It's always friendly service, and decent quality food. Very often we have skate, but recently we all went for the sirloin steak. Service was as ever, very good, and everyone enjoyed their food. As I am currently on the Keto Diet, I asked if my fries could be swapped for a salad - and they were only too happy to oblige. Dessert is tricky for anyone on a low-carb diet, as there is no cheeseboard or similar. I opted for a black coffee, and treated the cream on the side as my dessert! :)

Lunch for 6 at Tomassis on a Sunday. The restaurant is busy, so booking is essential. The food is very good, well cooked, decent portions and good value.

We had 3 plaice and chips and 2 spaghetti Bolognese. The fish very nice. The Bolognese looked small and we asked for confirmation that they weren't children portions and they weren't. Having said that, my daughter couldn't finish her one.

Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, overlooking the High Street.

My husband is a foodie who is particular about food. Haven't been here for years and found the fish fresh and prepared well. He had skate (9GBP). I had fish and chips. Everyone in our group went out amazed at the amount of food, the freshness of it, and the reasonable price.

We had the full English breakfast, hard fried egg, too much potato. Service was good, the bill was acceptable but it’s just a typical English seaside restaurant.

First ever visit for lunch on a Saturday. Loads of food choices and extremely reasonably priced. Food was very tasty and good portions. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Can see why this is a Southend favourite.

A very nice Italian restaurant on the high street with a great selection to choose from, my wife and I really enjoyed our meals, the staff were very polite and also very helpful.

Came here as a spur of the moment with my partner...big mistake.

Popped in for Sunday brunch, service was really good lovely staff even when very busy and run off their feet. Ordered two pots of tea and 2 ham and cheese toasties with salad was lovely quality food and presented well all for a reasonable £14

First and last visit to this establishment i found the staff blase'. The minestrone tasted like it was tinned,was served in a thimble, sat on the counter for ages after being warmed in a oven with looked suspiciously like a microwave,bread roll was hard and and have to ask for condiments

Took my Mother here as this was her option, not mine. Quite frankly, clever marketing! The restaurant is clean and well presented then it goes down from there. The food is very bland, and for what you get quite expensive too, it's no more Italian food than fly. I have it as a pretty healthy guess that your eating pre-prepaired bought in Break Brothers food. You won't find dishes being cooked and made freshly here either, it's all heated up out back in the kitchen. This also explains the speed in which the food comes out after ordering. There are many more better places to eat than here. Quite disappointing really.
