Best steak I've ever had. Felt like the scene off Ratatouille where Remy's trying food and seeing colours everywhere. The sides and desserts were lovely, staff were friendly and accommodating for a walk in. Highly recommend!

It wasn't that busy when we arrived so they accommodated us with ease. The place is nicely presented. The food was tasty and fresh.

Staff couldn't do enough for us, the food was excellent and we really appreciated the extra attention taken to accommodate us with a food allergy.

Sooooooo expensive for what you get. Although it was nice I could easily get a steak half the price that would be better and make me more full. Plus they left out all the veg.

I only go here for York restaurant week when the prices are a little bit cheaper, but the quality of food here is incredible, and the staff are lovely.

I have waited a good couple of years to come here and I finally got the chance to eat at the Tomahawk Steakhouse today. When me and my other half arrived we were greeted at the door, the young lady, Aiste, was so polite, we were shown to our seats and offered the best service by not only the young lady but the waiters too. The food we ordered was absolutely delicious, the chips were amazing, the steak was beautifully seasoned and cooked to perfection. Riley and Danny have been amazing company and they're amazing waiters. The desserts were also top notch too. We have been to multiple restraunts together and this has to be the best service we have ever received. Easiest 5/5 we have rated.

Great Steak Meal! Lovely Staff!

Had an amazing post-marathon meal at Tomahawk Steakhouse in York! The sharing board was a highlight, with a fantastic selection of perfectly cooked steaks and sides. The flavors were spot on, and everything was cooked to perfection. The cocktails were delicious and complemented the meal beautifully. The restaurant itself is lovely, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere—just the perfect spot to recharge after completing the York Marathon. All in all, a brilliant experience, and I’ll definitely be back next year. Highly recommend!

Amazing food we had a beef Sunday roast and a fillet steak roast, nothing left on our plates! So it’s all 5’s from us, try it you’ll not be disappointed!

Great historical building, wonderful food (much better and more varied than I imagined for a steakhouse), good service and overall an excellent meal.

Very nice food and very friendly service. Why not 5 stars the price is a little high, but was happy to pay that little extra. The reason I knocked 2 stars off was purely because they put a service charge on when you pay, you don't have to pay it but you have to ask for it to be taken off so they go back to the till and come back to you. We paid £120 for 2 people, one share platter and a few cocktails so nothing mega. Stop trying to force us to tip. This is not America

Food was perfect and staff were lovely. Only wish my stomach was bigger so I could have managed dessert as well. Main downside is the experience reminded me how much I enjoyed your London restaurant when it was there, please come back.

**Disappointing Experience and Food Poisoning – Avoid!** I took my family to Tomahawk Steakhouse in York for lunch yesterday, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. Despite being the only table in the restaurant, it took them a shocking 40 minutes to bring out our food. Given the lack of other customers, I can’t understand why service was so slow. To make matters worse, after dining there, we all experienced food poisoning. This was completely unacceptable and ruined the rest of our day. I had high expectations for this place, but it fell short on every level—from the slow service to the unsafe food quality. I would advise other travelers to be extremely cautious if they are considering dining at Tomahawk Steakhouse. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

If you want steak . This is the place to be. We went on a Tuesday early evening and it was already busy. We had Sirloin , Fillett and Rib eye. medium rare. All cooked as ordered. Excellent flavours. The beef dripping cooked chips were tasty as was the accompanying onion rings , brocolli and fries. Definitely coming back when we're in town !

Absolutely lovely staff and food! We last minute came here for food after being belittled at our hotel and leaving, and it was a good choice! Despite having to be there for 9 and walking in at 8:50 staff were so so pleasant and made small talk with us. We also did not feel rushed to get our order in quickly. I got fillet, my boyfriend porterhouse and muscles. The food was amazing and the wait was not long. We will definitely be back when we’re next in York. We left a tip on top of the optional service charge as we really enjoyed it.

There is really only one thing I have say about this place.....WOW!!!!It was fantastic.From the moment we walked in till the moment we left the whole experience was superb.It wasn't cheap,don't get me wrong BUT,you get what you pay for.Great place.

This was our first visit here and we really enjoyed it. The service , food and drinks were great! It was a busy Saturday night and our server kept us informed on how long our food would be rather than us waiting which we thought was a nice touch :)

These dishes were huge.. slightly more expensive for the usual burger or chicken type dishes but these were not small portions or the usual boring sides. Thanks for having us.

The best restaurant for the quality of its meat

We had sharing plate steaks and seafood. Main was very good but sides been very small. Definitely for no more then 2 people.

2nd time visit was as good as the first. Fantastic steak and side's.

A little slow on service, had the restaurant day special menu rump steak, quite chewy. Son had the piripiri chicken which looked good.

First visit but won't be our last! Really needed a Sunday lunch but couldn't decide which meat to have so got a sharing board. We opted for roast beef, lamb and pork with crackling. It came with roast potatoes, roast parsnips, roasted carrots, stuffing, a large Yorkshire pudding each and oodles of gravy. Also came with sides of broccoli & peas, cabbage with bacon and cauliflower cheese. We were both really hungry when we got there and absolutely stuffed when we left. Every item was delicious but unfortunately I didn't manage to eat all mine. Hubby faired better! The staff were polite and the decor reasonable. I can hand on heart tell you it was the best Sunday Lunch I've ever had whilst eating out. I am a great home cook so often feel dissapointed with meals served at resteraunts. Not today. Well done Tomahawk steakhouse I give to 10 out of 10.

First time visit for York having previously been to the one in Newcastle, Absolutely love the place amazing food and service from the moment we stepped in, would get to a quarter of a drink left and asked if we wanted more immediately. Went for the mighty Tomahawk share platter was not disappointed wow just the finest steak ever and one to remember.

Food was excellent we had the Sunday roast sharing 2 course The Yorkshire pudding was light and cooked just right gravely was excellent to be honest it was all very nice the service was quick and price was not to bad either

The food was fantastic, took my family that came over from Spain and they loved it . Only thing idea say bad about this place , is one of the staff was a little bit in a bad mood or it seemed that way that's why the service was a 4 out of 5 but the place is absolutely amazing

What can I say, other than the food, service, and atmosphere were all fantastic! Some of the menu items were a bit on the pricey side but quality was amazing, and the sharing platter was decent value! Id definitely return, and would absolutely recommend to anyone 👍

Wow! A couple of us did the shared 38 Oz Rib Eye Steak. Cooked to perfection. Sides were great too - we had beef dripping chips, mac n cheese, creamy garlic mushrooms and bacon andcream peas - highly recommend them all.. Desert presentation was eye catching. Everything totally tasty. Others in our party had the Wagyu Steaks- said they were good.

I love going to Tomahawk York, always a great atmosphere, the food is incredible and the staff friendly. Ellie went above & beyond with her customer service. Very happy customer who will be returning soon!

Excellent food and service 6 of had Sunday lunch and drinks

What can I say about this place? Seriously if you are in York and you want one of the best dining experiences you will ever have this place is for you. The food was an incredible mouth bomb of flavour, taste and texture. I got the garlic bread as a starter which was nice, it only went up from there. The F1 Wagyu Ribeye melted in my mouth and was incredible with the garlic butter or the cheese and bacon sauce. The chips were amazingly crispy but still fluffy inside. And the dessert! A nut allergy safe hot fudge cake, omg getting a good dessert as a nut allergy sufferer is hard so thank you. It was so good that I was basically in tears and forgot how to use a spoon properly (my friend was taking the piss on how I was eating) The waiter was lovely from start to finish too and helped a lot with allergy stuff. It's pricey but you get what you pay for, worth every penny!

Just been with my family and it's a great place and the food is fantastic, we all ate from the Sunday lunch menu and could not fault it. Will return one day for sure.

Wow, managed to get the early bird steak and chips before 6pm on a Friday. Me and the wife really enjoyed it. The steak was great, no gristle or fat. Nice place, some outdoor seating, good atmosphere and the staff were bob on. Usual selection of drinks to be had. Will definitely be calling next time I'm in York

Never eaten here but the people I've seen leaving look happy and full, the salted caramel martini is to die for, we often make the journey to here just for the martini

The only bad thing about Tomohawk is there isn't one nearer to us (down south)! Our guests also complained that you guys have now ruined steak for them everywhere else because yours was too damn good!

Amazing food- we went for the steak and seafood share board, everything cooked to perfection, shout out to Zack the chef for the evening, was lovely to meet you and we will definitely return, front of staff also very welcoming. I hate that I loved every bit of this .. naturally hard to please🥰🥰😁☺️

Came here for bottomless brunch at the weekend on my hen do in York and it was brilliant service would definitely recommend. Gorgeous food and cocktails and they couldn’t have been more attentive. Couldn’t fault anything!

Fabulous food at the Tomahawk steakhouse york, Myself and my partner had the sharing board which was £79.95 and then we had x 2 of the Tomahawk Bombe puddings at £9.50 each. Expensive but tasted good. Portion sizes are fair. Will be returning.

Overall was great even got a birthday platter. Only issue I had, we was placed on a table outside the kitchen doors in a corridor. I don’t believe there should be any seating here at all was very put off. We did ask to move to which they was happy to do. Food was great and service was just as good.

Just had a visit to the Tomahawk, what a great place and very friendly atmosphere. Food and service were first class, their steaks are lovely and cooked to perfection. We will definitely return on future visits to York. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful evening.

45mins to get seated and order placed. No interaction for the rest of the meal, no drinks or query if the food was ok. had to stop someone to get the bill. Very disappointing + side the food was good. Nothing exceptional just good

I visited this lunchtime as from previous experience the food has always been nice , the Sunday lunches amazing . Today I have never been so disappointed, the only reason I never complained was that my daughter did not want me to cause her any embarrassment. I left nearly all my food it was uneatable. Greasy deep fried chips and the parmo croquettas were filled with a mulchy chicken stodge . I paid the service charge as the staff were friendly and polite but I have wasted £36 on food that was basically just vile .

Had a lovely meal here, special shoutout to the manager Riley for making mine and my missus night perfect, a real gentleman who deserves the best. The meat was cooked to perfection and the service was lovely

We ordered wagyu steaks, both were massively over seasoned, the chips were soggy, the hash was a gloopy mess, both sauces looked and tasted like they came from a packet. The broccoli was okay but for £177, I'd go elsewhere.

Over charged (and they wouldnt change it even after i chased them up about it), rude staff (the only saving grace was our waiter who was apologising for her unprofessional colleagues) food wasn't anything to shout about either...considering the abundance of quality restaurants in York I would not recommend this place (maybe it was just a bad shift several other parties had the same experience)

Staff was not interested in servicing us, very grumpy woman serving us at the till looked like she didn't want us there. Then, we got our meal which small not worth the money at all 20 odd pounds for a small meal with hardly anything on it. Definately not coming to this steakhouse again will be going elsewhere when we go to York again.

We had such an amazing experience here. First of all, the cocktails were really nice. The steak was out of this world and fairly reasonably priced when you consider that you get two sides included. The best thing however was the service. Our waitress could not have been any nicer. She was so attentive. She also overheard that it was my brother in-law's birthday and brought him out a complimentary birthday dessert. Really lovely experience from start to finish and we cannot wait to come back.

Lovely find, I wanted to try good steak. Now I'm already aware it's not 100% for this to be like genuine Japanese wagyu Steak, I've had many people tell info on their meat sources but honestly I could careless, they don't technically overcharge too much and when I got the steak I even ate the fat. Me, someone who has always cut the fat off as I dislike the texture. But this fat was soft like butter, it melted on your tongue and it was cooked to perfection. I got some odd looks as I was on my own plus filming the place for my review and tiktok but I understand that. The cocktail was great and paired well with the steak as it was whiskey based and honestly I wish I'd gone bigger and got the wagyu platter. Maybe next time. This place is massive, lots of places to sit with private areas for groups, downstairs bar and upstairs. Its definitely a good food place to visit from my experience, staff were friendly and courteous.

Perfect steak dinner nice atmosphere central location

We walked in and almost walked back out because it looked dead. Turns out there were people upstairs. The staff were all friendly and attentive. Unfortunately the food was poor. Calamari was rubbery and the batter was soft. We told the waiter who was very good and he took it away. It had clearly been dropped back in the deep fryer and replated. Still rubbery but with crispy batter now. Steak frites - the frites weren’t really frites, more like frozen chips. They were skin on fries either but they did have some skin on here and there. The steak, don’t know what it was but I’m guessing sirloin, was cooked medium, not medium rare as requested. It tasted ok and was quite tender but it wasn’t amazing and for a steakhouse you would expect great steak. In fairness we did do the starter and main set menu, so we didn’t go for the expensive stuff. The waiter was very apologetic and did take off the price of the calamari.

Absolutely incredible time here Friday Night. The service was phenomenal 👏. Our every need anticipated and sorted before we even had a chance to ask. Food was outstanding. Had a delicious Sunday roast at Tomahawk. Potatoes cooked to perfection, lovely selection of veg, massive Yorkies, big portions and gorgeous gravy. What’s not to love?

Everything was as we’d hoped. Service was impeccable just like the food. Special mention for our server Mike who was very knowledgeable and the Scottish drinks waiter who was very chatty about the local area.
