Owner took order for drinks and food. Drinks came quickly however we waited over 40 mins for 3 panini sandwiches and a slice of cake. People were served food before us that ordered after us. We even carried our food to the table when we chased it up. Food was edible but not enjoyable Even had to wait 15 mins before we could pay. No apology from the owner, only a thank you for being patient while waiting to pay. Owner was on her own, if we had been informed of this and menu shortened, wouldn’t have such issues and very surprised that was trading without any help. Wouldn’t return and wouldn’t recommend

Lovely setting, but feel needs a bit of work. Has lost its way a bit. Had soup and I swear was out of a tin! Not ok. Teapot etc was chipped and looked really tired, outside play equipment dropping to bits. It's hard running a business, but feel they could do better without big investment, just a tidy and a rethink of the details.

Decided to pop here after reading the reviews but must say we were disappointed with the quality of food. Had soup & sandwich option but the soup was definitely out of a tin and my daughter said her beans tasted funny on her jacket potato (presume they were cheap ones). After a trip to the outside toilet I was regretting eating here as it wasn't very clean and there was no toilet roll or paper towels (didn't fancy drying our hands using the same hand towel as e eryone else!). The cafe itself is tiny (only a couple of small tables inside) but very scruffy looking in the outside eating area. Girl who served us was pleasant enough but there are much nicer places to spend your money on good food elsewhere on the island. Not for us!

Had driven passed here on numerous occasions but it was always the wrong time of day. So arranged to meet my wife here at the end of a run and what a lovely oasis it turned out to be. Everyone is catered for, lovely area for dogs, play area for kids and so on. Even little huts outside (it was windy when we were there). Staff lovely, food great. Will definitely go there again.

Came here years ago and was impressed then and am still impressed now. Had a lovely afternoon tea today, with tasty well filled sandwiches, fresh hot scones, (huge!) Bara Brith and fresh home made cakes. Tea was served in china cups and everything was delicious. Yes we had to wait a while but as it said on the board everything was made fresh to order and it was well worth the wait. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, and there were people with their dogs, families with children who were well entertained in the play area, and lovely views. All in all an excellent afternoon. Thank you

Today we visited our favourite cafe on Anglesey, it's a must visit every trip for us. Coffee Cups / Toll House is set in the most beautiful location in the beautiful Penrhos Country Park & is ideal for dog walkers & all the family. The view from the garden is delightful & overlooks the beach. Coffee Cups is in one of Thomas Telfords original Toll Houses. We are always met with a friendly & warm welcome from the staff & our 2 dogs love it here, not only do they have a beautiful garden but our dogs look forward to their cheese treat from the staff. There is a play garden for children & indoor & outdoor seating. The food is freshly cooked to order from their varied menu. I always enjoy the lovely fresh salad which accompanies my sandwich. My husband usually orders hot food which he loves. After our healthy lunch we ordered a hand made scone to share with yummy jam, fresh cream & strawberries. There is a lovely selection of fresh cakes to choose from. The coffee is simply the best. I had decaff cappuccino & my husband had a latte. We look forward to returning next trip.

We too had a bad experience. Slow slow service, thrown together food, and untidy staff. The salad was fresh though - and we only got one piece of cake and not two ! For heavens sake do yourself a favour and employ a decent cook and tidy up your staff. We were served by a young chap with one eye ( the other was covered by long hair dangling about. Not nice. )

The photographs say it all. We ordered pea and ham soup, a prawn sandwich, mushrooms on toast, and two portions of Bara Brith ( fruit loaf) Our tea arrived first after 15 minutes - we drank that and waited a further half hour for the soup and sandwich. (mayonnaise with three prawns sandwich) The mushrooms on toast arrived 7 minutes later. The mushrooms had been either grilled or dry fried because they were totally desiccated. The toast was untoasted and unbuttered as per photograph. I then asked for butter (waitress laughed) which arrived clutched in the girls hand - no knife. I spread the butter with a teaspoon. Knife arrived 5 minutes later. We waited a further 17 minutes for the bara brith but then left before its arrival. As we left I looked into the kitchen and the 5 staff were standing around chatting - and judging by the size of them all - eating our bara brith, and the rest of the cake in the place as well. Dirty tea pots, unkempt untrained staff, terrible service and unbelievably dreadful food. The photographed blackboard sign (badly spelt and very rude) says it all. I would have a Mac Donald’s in preference any day, or actually - starve. We can only think that the wonderful reviews have been left by friends and family or, sometimes they actually have good staff on. There were 6 other people in the garden eating, so there certainly wasn’t a rush on!! Not surprising.

4 people, 5 dogs, dropped past for a hot drink and a cake during a walk.Upon arrival met by a man who said we had to bare with him as he was by himself taking orders and cooking. Ordering was a complete nightmare. He couldn’t work the till and was annoyed at us for using notes as he would have to give change. Took a good 15 minutes to order, throughout he was rude. Then the real disaster began. One of the ladies ordered a slice of bara brith with a tea, bara brith cake and was thick cut like a slab of concrete, no tea to accompany. Then was a hot chocolate and a coffee, whilst carrying the drinks out he was spilling each drink into each other ther, both tasted horrible. Also a slab of chocolate cake arrived on a 3 tier cake stand. Then the rarebit arrived, which was burnt and looked like cheap plastic cheese on top.Eventually the tea then arrived after a hour of waiting.Complete disaster.

There is plenty of parking and a fantastic outdoor space for summer with cute outdoor eating cabins, all set in a stunning location right on the water with lots of walking opportunities nearby to work off the delicious food! To cap it all, it is dog friendly and superstar Clare knows SO much about the area and was more than happy to answer all our questions with kindness and patience! This used to be one of my favourite places to have either a Welsh Afternoon Tea or just coffee and cake. I know it is coming to the end of the season, but to be told there are only two staff on duty and they are "taking no more orders" is not how one likes to be treated. I hope the owners (who were obviously not there) either close when two young girls cannot cope or turn up for work themselves. Had to go to Church Bay for tea and scones ........... delicious.

Lovely cafe and a proper fire inside on cold days. Lovely garden outside with all sorts of seating from cosy arbours to tables in the sun. Fantastic cakes, scrumptious paninis and hot chocolate to die for. Carol and her daughter work as partners and both give you such a welcome it’s untrue, as does Carols husband. This is one cafe that stays as open even in bad weather so it’s reliable, as is the food and drink. I love the china teapots and cups and saucers, cake served on proper cake plates and so on. It just has values I remember as a child that so many eateries have forgotten in order to turn over a fast profit. They also sell local crafts and have a dedicated room upstairs. The cafe itself is fascinating, being one of the original toll houses on the “new road”. You won’t regret a visit here it’s so very lovely. Must also say the prices are very reasonable.

Gracias, realmente nos encantó y volveremos de nuevo.

Visited Sunday afternoon while on holiday for some refreshments! My mum and myself shared an afternoon tea that consisted of a piece of cake a Welsh cheese and caramelised onion toastie and a pot of tea my dad had a bowl of delicious tomato soup with bread and butter and a diet ginger beer (plenty of diet drinks available which is nice with a diabetic in our family) the place itself is quirky and cosy and the staff very pleasant! Little touches make such a difference when going somewhere new! Reasonable price, unusual building with a good history! Thank you! Denise, Janice and Paul xxx

Visited on Saturday afternoon for drinks and a snack. We were lucky to find one of the outdoor cabins free. Lovely novel idea for outdoor seating. Warm welcome received when I went in to order. Drinks arrived shortly followed by sandwiches and toasted teacakes. China crockery was lovely, sandwiches were good accompanied by nice fresh salad and coleslaw. Teacakes were nice two per portion and we were asked if we wanted jam with them. We enjoyed a very pleasant time in the cabin it was relaxing and quirky. The only issue we had was with the toilet facilities which could be improved or checked more regularly for cleanliness.

Popped in for lunch with a colleague and the staff who are all family were very helpful and friendly. The food was wonderful and there was too much tbh, but the prices are great and fair. Claire was all to happy to suggest different sandwich fillings.and the service was very prompt. Would recommend anyone to drop in for a 'Panad' anytime.

Whilst walking the dogs at Penrhos, I decided to pop in to the Toll House as I was peckish. I chose to sit in a little Cabin (there are three all together) decorated with buntings and always fresh flowers on the table. I ordered a Cheese & onion panini (with caramelised onions) it was to die for. Lovely salad and 3 little pots, filled with pickle, relish and creamy coleslaw, I had a latte And I also chose a local made tub of ice cream, bloomin lovely. All for £9.00. The dogs were treated to some chunks of cheese by the staff too. Lovely food and excellent service. Well worth a visit 10/10

I highly recommend this little gem of a cafe. The staff, led by Carole, are so welcoming and we are always greeted with warmth and friendliness. The products used are Fairtrade and plenty of the yummy cakes on offer are gluten free. The Toll House itself is tiny and quaint, but there's lots of space outside in the little summer houses, be-decked with bunting. This little cafe is a joy to visit. Check out the delightful vintage crockery too!

We popped in here while the kids were off school after a walk around the park, the food was top notch, the siting is beautiful with lovely views, the service and people are really what make this place what it is, they took the time to give us the history of the toll house and the area, we'll definitely be back and are going to make it a regular visit, living on Anglesey- it'd be rude not too :)

We've been driving past this place for over a year now since it reopened, every time saying ''That place looks, nice, we'll have to go there one day...''Well 'one day' finally happened, and I'm very glad it did!Inside youre greeted by a cozy open fire, fresh flowers and the smell of freshly ground coffee. It's very snug and welcoming, there is only room for maybe 4 or 5 small tables in the main room, but this really adds to the character of the place. We ordered up a coffee each along with toasted teacakes which was very enjoyable, whist we were there another customer ordered up a very, VERY tasty looking Panini- I'll be having one myself next visit

Housed in an 1820s Toll house at the end of one of Thomas Telford’s major civil engineering achievements on the London Holyhead mail coach route – The Stanley Embankment.Cosy & friendly, good food, good coffee, good toilets; dogs (& owners) welcomed, excellent value for money. Also has seating in the garden & overlooks ‘Beddmanarch Bay’ so you can have brunch & bird watch at the same time, with distant views of Snowdonia to the east as a backdrop (try to ignore the wind turbines 10 miles to the north). There’s a large car park, it’s on the Anglesey Coastal Path & you can also start/finish several woodland walks in Penrhos Coastal Park from the café…..what’s not to like ???

Coffee Cups of Amlwch is also at The Toll House, Holyhead; a quaint old Toll House on the edge of Penrhos Park. Masses of free parking and fantastic walks from the Cafe. The cafe is small and cosy but they also have beach huts in the garden for the hardier customers! The coffees and teas cover the full range, for all tastes. Everything seems freshly made and the cakes are delicious. They come served on a bone china Cake Stand. The Proprietor, Carol, is kindness itself and goes more than the extra mile to make sure her customers have a great experience at the Toll House. Definately one to recommend.

Going on the strength of other reviews, we booked a table in the dog friendly area of The Crown. Having had and a 2 hour walk beforehand, a well deserved refuelling stop. Quite chilly in that area of the pub. Cheap lunch menu. Specials board more expensive. We had Scampi & fries, small battered cod & chips. Both came with peas. I had much higher expectations and was disappointed in the portion size(5 scampi pieces). Would consider giving it another try sometime, go in the evening and dine in the restaurant area. Pay the more expensive dinner prices, in the hope that the food would not be cooked from frozen and the portion sizes would be satisfying.

This is a fantastic place to eat . Food is excellent and copious. I had a steak pie and I could hardly finish it. Still had room for sponge pudding though. Staff are good. Come here.

Really enjoyed our Sunday lunch here. The special roast was a braised lamb shank which was exceptional and my wife’s roast beef was as good. Good size portions and quality ingredients, got to say the roast parsnips were out of this world. Catered for my gluten intolerance too. Definitely will return and soon.
