Tocketts Mill Country Park and Restaurant in Redcar and Cleveland

1st visit in 30 years. I was pleasantly surprised by the food. Thoroughly enjoyed the potato skin starter, which came topped with cheese and bacon/ham? and the parmo was one of the best I've had. Service was great with the young ladies coming round to ensure we had drinks and everything was OK with the food. Highly recommended this venue for a meal.

Lovely food and great service , would definitely go back

One of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. Service was just terrible, food was bland and tasteless, and my wife and 2 year old daughter felt an uncomfortable atmosphere it was clear to us we were not welcome.

Lovely place , gorgeous food. Very good choice of meat and veg. Massive Yorkshire puddings. We sat in the bar, so it was a bit quieter. Highly recommend. Will definitely go again

My wife and I are regular customers to the restaurant, Her meal today was good. I chose the small plate roast beef. It was served luke warm and was lacking in taste. There was lots of beef but it wasn't very appetising. I did mention it to the manager but was told this sometimes happens. We may be hesitant about returning.

Called on the off chance mid afternoon as it’s a while since our last visit. We weren't disappointed! The location is beautiful, peaceful and very picturesque. The food was served very quickly and just as good as we remembered. Very cosy with the log burner roaring, very friendly and polite staff and the food was delicious. We won’t leave it so long for a return visit.

Average food. Young lad on the bar was great. Other member of staff (John) not so much. We ordered a cake to takeaway. We were then stood around waiting at the bar for 15 minutes for this cake (baring in mind it was already made and we could see it in the fridge but no one seemed to be bothered to get it. For this reason we explained we would just leave it and go back home, to which John sarcastically replied “how long do you expect it to take? One minute? Two minutes?” To be honest John… 30 seconds considering we could see the cake in the fridge. Shocking customer service at best. Got the feeling he was a manager at the place which perhaps explains why he thought he could say what he liked. Unacceptable and will NOT be returning.

People waiting an hr to gt food tday we waited 20 to be asked our drinks order and other couples asked first who came in after us. When we found out people were complaining about waiting times for food we left.

Went for Sunday roast at 5pm and placed was packed, but service was still speedy and efficient. Food was lovely apart from potatoes which were hard. Deserts were delicious. Reasonable prices, eg £138 for 5 adults including all food and drinks. A star taken away because of horrible potatoes.

On asking if I could have a small plate for the Sunday carvery as I have a small appetite i was told no we are very strict on that and you have to be under 11, also my 12 Yr old granddaughter couldn't have a small plate, why are children classed as only under 11s?. We were seated in the concervatry area which was barely warm,, with one heater on, the table in the middle had leather chairs which were very worn with holes and foam showing through, otherwise a nice area on a warmer day, the carvery had a good selection but the gravy was watery and all could have been warmer otherwise a nice family gathering

Visited several times before and it’s always been brilliant. Been for lunch today with my parents and seven month old baby. The service was fantastic. Great portion size despite ordering the smaller lunch time helpings. The pie and chips-gorgeous. A member of staff was so good with my daughter. She brought her some veg with gravy and even some fresh fruit to mash for her for dessert. Left feeling very full with a happy baby!

What a hidden gem ❤️ Peaceful and full of wildlife. Lovely bar and restaurant too.

We were visiting the actual water mill which is adjacent to the pub and restaurant. They have guided tours on some Sunday afternoons and bank holidays. It is a fascinating place and well worth a visit. The volunteers are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and make the tours very interesting. Just to warn you that the mill is over 3 floors with very steep stairs to access the upper floors. Lovely setting in caravan Park and handy for a visit to the pub or restaurant too.

Visited Tockets Mill for the 1st time in a few years and was pleasantly surprised - the food and the service provided by Claire was excellent - I would definately recommend booking as it was busy

Avoid!! Have been waiting 1.5 hrs and still no food. Not busy most tables empty. Shocking disgusting extremely slow service. Nearly 2 hours until food comes. Drinks order was wrong. Stay away, no service and no food.

Steaks and prosecco at Tocketts Mill. How lovely! Looked forward to it. But our day out was spoiled by the bighead waiter. So casual - so offhand - so cheeky with customers. Who does he think he is? Not welcoming in any way. Treats you as if you're a pain in the rear during his time, trampling all over his shift! As if you're a damned nuisance being there making him show you a table or getting you menus. Ugh. Cannot abide these sort of hospitality people. They have forgotten you're going to be paying £100 or so for a couple of steaks, beers, wines. Shouldn't be employed if they're just going to make customers feel upset/annoyed/disappointed.. Ruined our experience. The steaks were delicious, thank you chefs👍🙏

Never got the chance to sample the food, I was stood by the "wait to be seated" sign, and I waited and waited and waited, didn't get one acknowledgement from any of the many staff the passed by me and my husband. Totally rude, not one person said, "I'll be with you in a minute." Nevet felt so uncomfortable.

Recently moved to the area so first time we have visited Tocketts mill, what an absolute find. A stunning place with small river running adjacent, and holiday homes and lodges in a beautiful, peaceful park. We actually only went for breakfast, which was fabulous, and first class service and surroundings,but ended up spending a good few hours there. Highly reccomended, we will most definately be back

What can I say, I'll keep it short as I don't want it to get too much attention. But, it does have holiday mobile homes and it's spotlessly clean. Peaceful with wonderful woodland walks. I hope this little gem stays hidden just for me and my friends. The grounds have chickens and peacocks running about, nice area for kids to play. The food really is awesome and isn't the most expensive place I've ever eaten at, most reasonable for the quality, table service, fast, efficient and friendly. Inside and outside under cover restaurant and the coziest bar with log fire, just rounds it off perfectly. I was a little late for the breakfast menu that I was really looking forward to having just completed a long night shift behind the wheel, but they were quick to please and made me and the wife, the best full English with the best of local produce. So ignore how great this place is as it's my secret gem and not for sharing. Visit, you won't be disappointed. Just whisper to your friends as this place needs keeping a secret. What can I say, you don't find these places every day. 👍

Lovely lunch excellent service food great recommended

Made a last minute booking for this evening and it was great. We’ve been coming here for food for about 8 years - tonight was really busy (no surprise) and we were told there might be a slight delay with the food but we didn’t really wait very long before we ordered and prior to that they took our drinks order immediately. The food was delicious as it always is but the service was brilliant. Such a lovely team - Mike who took our food order was a real gent - what an asset to the place!! Lovely food, great service - definitely recommend.

Sunday carvery with friends and they did a gorgeous mushroom stroganoff (veggie) just for me. Lovely place, especially if the weather is good and you can eat outside.

Food is amazing and great choice

We have always eaten at tocketts mill but never again I ordered the jumbo fish as usual and it wasn't as it normally is. The battery was really over cooked and very dry. The fish inside was white but dry now I've had tocketts chips plenty of times and they are the best this time very white and lots of hard scrappy chips not there normal. My wife always has lasagna and it comes in separate pot this time was already on the plate and small square piece this also was very dry. The salad had seen better days dry ends and discoloration. We both said to each other has the chef changed this is not the quality we usually get.

Went late afternoon with daughter.As usual great service and parmo and chip were piping hot and freshly cooked. Glass each of cold water presented in a nice glass with colorful straws Lovely atmosphere. I would recommend it .

Food was really lovely : ) Gravy was bit too runny for me. Lovely decor inside and the outside grounds are really nice.

A lovely surrounding area, but service with a wait for meals of 35 minutes and I had to ask after half an hour to check if our meals had been ordered and lack of cleaning tables within a reasonable time, after finishing (observation of other tables here also), didn't make for an enjoyable lunch time. Our table also was wobbly and the top had an uneven surface of warped wood slats, that made for us to be vigilant when putting our drinks down between sips. Food when it arrived was on a small plate for large cod and chips the same plate size of mine having only ordered a small portion of scampi. Not presented well at all and where mushy peas were not the choice expected with the fish, after a lengthy wait, it was too much hassle to complain. Salad on plate, was dry and a honey & mustard dressing, or similar would not have gone amiss! Whether this was an off day, but not likely to recommend or visit again in a hurry, everything seemed too half-hearted.

What a disappointment. A belated get together for me and my daughters who live outside the area . After ordering our lunch we waited for almost 1 hour before questioning why we hadn't had our meal, to be told that due to the time of ordering 12 noon, we had arrived during there very busy period. When our meal arrived we found the food disappointing. The parsnipsand roast potatoes on the roast beef dinner were cold and hard, possibly left over carvery from yesterday ((Sunday) and both the Meditteraean Quiche and Cod Gougons served with mushy peas and chips were very dry. Not the pleasant lunch that we were expecting.

Sunday Carvery. Table of 12 people , one who is a vegan. Really slow to get our food as tables went in order.5.15 and ended up eating at almost 6.30. No options for the vegetarian and advised just to eat the vegetables but paid the full price of the carvery meal. Not value for money, staff confusing drinks orders and generally appeared stressed or low in mood. Not able to find one staff member smiling. Very off-putting

outdoor terrace is a lovely place to eat some great food....(if the weather's ok, that is)

When for lunch with the family today and all I can say is how fantastic everything was. Stunning scenery, brilliant service and food was excellent. Shall certainly be back but this time going for the smaller portions 🤣

So a lot of people rave about this place. It's quite a small venue and very warm if sitting inside. The main thing that disappointed me was the lack of Swede/Turnip. This is a must for any Sunday Dinner. I have never known this not to be offered anywhere else. Maybe they had run out. Maybe.

Food was phenomenal steaks cooked to perfection and would highly recommend.

Beautiful surroundings outside & inside was very clean too. Food was plenty full & more than expected. A very nice calm atmosphere presented with excellent staff who were very approachable & friendly. Some drinks were incorrect but swiftly rectified. Yes, I will visit again.

Some of the best Vegan food we have eaten here, a unique selection and amazing especially the chocolate mousse at a really reasonable price.

Honestly this is the best place we have eaten since moving up North. Amazing staff, lovely restaurant manager. The food is outstanding but the burger and apple crumble stand out as the best food I have ever tasted. All 8 of us in attendance did not have one bad word to say about the place. Will be visiting again shortly. Thank you. PS been back three times since including Sunday dinner today and still number 1 for us in North Yorkshire. Thank you again.

Food was great, staff friendly. Pricey and VERY slow. We had more or less an hour between starters and main courses being delivered. They were busy but there were empty tables so could be even busier at times. Setting is fantastic, so if you're not in any rush this could be for you.

Went fir a family birthday. From arriving into grounds it's beautiful. As you park up chickens walking around along with peacocks. The sitting area outside looks inviting it was a lovely afternoon warm and no wind. Loved all if the interior bigger than I expected. Staff very good. Our food was all very good. Wow... Then another outside of dining area all ready for an 18th party. Looked amazing and quirky loved furniture and all the ornamental things out there. You have to try this place. Out in the most beautiful Yorkshire area just passed Guisborough. Amazing.

The Pub in Tocketts Mill is located in the heart of the caravan park. It's surrounded by loads of green space, a river and some free roaming animals. Definitely worth a visit for a walk and a meal! The pub layout was a bit awkward for bigger groups, but it was cosy, clean and not too loud. The staff was lovely and quick to help and serve. We had a selection of different foods, ranging from mussels, curry and beef stroganoff to scampi and fish & chips. It was really filling and delicious - don't order too much extra as it's big portions. There's an outside area for warmer weather as well. Would definitely recommend it if you're in the area!

On arrival I commented to the waiting staff that on my last visit the gravy on the roast dinner was awful…very watery which was very disappointing as the gravy makes the dinner. We ordered our food and 50 minutes later we asked if we’d been forgotten about. When the food came the mash and veg were barely warm and again the gravy was watery and very salty. We felt that this was deliberate because I had commented on the gravy. I certainly will not be returning!!!

My son and daughter in law, had there wedding reception here on the 24 April, the food was lovely the staff were easy going nothing was to much trouble. The venue is lovely the grounds were gorgeous for the pictures. Thank you to all involved.

Sunday Carvery easily one of the best on Teeside, excellent size portion of meat and fantastic flavour throughout the food, friendly young bar lad providing excellent service today Sunday 21st as just dropped in and provided without outstanding service. Look forward to trying again. Desserts homemade and too die for 😋

Had 2 hot fruit scones when asked for cold ones due to heartburn.had 2 lattes warm and low and behold I was charged 19 pound,I told family and friends and we will never go back to tockets mill.wasnt told the price till my card went through.started clearing the table when my wife was halfway through hers,bad customer service.

We recently used this venue for a wake and had a first class experience. The venue itself was ideal and both the food and service were excellent. Thank you to all involved.

Love the atmosphere of the place and the staff ,attentive and nice,food was lovely and homemade chips ,we all had parmos which were lovely and my grandson had chicken strips and chips followed by ice cream ,it was my sons birthday so they put a candle and a fountain candle in the ice cream which was a nice touch as we never asked for it and to the delight of my grandson who said its not my birthday its me dad's lol would definitely be going back .

At 1 o'clock on a Friday, we were surprised at how busy it was. We had booked in advance, which is to be recommended, especially if you are in a larger group. The staff are always lovely here. We ordered the smaller plate dishes, most of us going again for the roast dinner (choice of three meats). Delicious and very good value at £9. And the desserts are all amazing, but particularly the rice pudding.

Went for Sunday Dinner. Lovely carvery with four meat choices and lots of different vegetables, lovely roasties. Desert choice looked lovely too but too full to try one. Sat in the outside Conservatory area, very pretty mediteranean vibe and plenty of heaters and blankets for anyone feeling the cold.

Just had lunch in the bar area, absolutely first class customer service from George, polite, welcoming and cheerful. It was a pleasure to eat there. 5 stars

First time going today and had carvery and a desert and it was absolutely lovely and the staff were super friendly, lovely meal and great value too

Lovely place, can't believe I'd never been here before. We sat in the main restaurant, which was pleasant enough, service was good and food well presented and served quickly. Passed through the pub on the way in and it looked really cosy, will definitely try that next time. Only negative point was that the beef in the stroganoff was very plain and tasteless - but everything else was delicious.

I ordered the parma chicken, a very excellent dish, i thoroughly enjoyed this dish

Always a warm friendly welcome. I always order the small portions because still served ample, delicious variety . Recommend the quiche but everyone enjoys the menu.

The most beautiful, tender steak I've ever had!

We waited 1hour 35 minutes for food we sat for 30 minutes waiting to place our order and had to ask for our order to be taken no one came and said there was a waiting time for food I asked several times were the food was and got no satisfactory answer in fact the waiter didn't seem to care and was rather rude needles to say l don't think I would return or recommend it to anyone

Busy. Food took a long time. Had salmon , veg and potatoes , needed a sauce really. Hubby had cod, nice but no peas. Should have been told then another dish would have been chosen. Disappointing. Not cheap. Won't be rushing back.

Food good, staff good. Problem is the "stuffed in" feeling when dining inside. Tables tend to have too many people on either side and you are very much cramped next to each other and can't spread out because the HUGE table legs block you in.

1st time we have been , will be back , parmos are the best we have tried .....staff are brilliant , very cozy place ...thank you.

Restaurant food and service excellent, finished off with a drink in the cosy bar with a wood burner. Would definitely recommend.
