It was for my birthday meal, myself, my wife and two of our adult children came with us

Myself and my partner visited the Toby Carvery today and would highly recommend this place!! The food was beautiful, but even more beautiful was our waitresss Ella. A young girl who is at university, and ready to qualify as a teacher next year, she was absolutely delightful and the customer service portrayed was second to none!! The time and service provided by her was second to none, and she could teach many others in the industry a lesson or two. Good luck to Ella, 'you will make an amazing teacher', unless Tobi give you an offer you can't refuse!! We will definitely be returning in the near future for a special anniversary!! Thank you Ella for your time and just 'for being you' . We will definitely see you soon xxx

We were served by Ella who was really lovely! However the food was tasteless, gravy was like water and the kitchen staff serving the food were miserable and made you feel you were an inconvenience to them. Can’t believe how much we just paid for tasteless food :(

Lovely inviting place. Staff can't do enough, specially Jodie who looked after us. Asked Gemma and Sophie about times of opening had a lovely conversation very knowledgeable. Would certainly recommend it and we will definitely be back. Makes a difference when the staff are welcoming.

Excellent we go here on a Sunday if we go to the bursco carbooot.

Worst roast I've ever had, roast potatoes were very small and felt old. Veg was all dried up. Even the yorkies were flaky. The meat was good. We didn't complain because it's not what we do, won't go back

Usually nice & quiet with tables spaced out. Speedy waitress service on arrival. Don’t need to book. Food is 7 out of ten. Not a great range of veg only pies n carrot or onions. But loads of roast spuds n mashed. And usually 3 - 4 choices of meat, turkey, ham or beef/pork Staff very polite n chatty n quick service at carvery

We came Sunday for a carvery, to find that there was only one meat turkey, no gammon and no beef!! The roast potatoes were disgusting and hard!! The chief really need to learn on how to cook roast potatoes worst carvery ever!!

This place is huge! I went for breakfast, which was the usual full English. Apparently, this is the only option. There were only a few people in.

Came for breakfast Sunday, asked chef on the carvery deck of there Yorkshire puds had bacon and onion like they are meant to, also asked where the bacon and cheese was in the hash there was no onion or cheese in, the mushroom looked like they was even cooked it any butter or oil, the other stuff was nice and hot and the servers where very nice, the chef in the other hand was very rude.

I have visited toby carvery over many years and found the service and food to be exceptionally good However my wife and I visited Ormskirk carvery on 23/08 We both had the carvery and we were appalled and disappointed at the standard of food The potatoes had been left out for ages and were rock hard the cabbage was like mush the carrots were inedible and the peas were Like bullets The mash was acceptable and the cauliflower cheese was almost devoid of cheese I ordered some pigs in blankets and they were burnt to a crisp and at £3.99 we’re not good value The only saving grace was the meat which was cooked well and tasted nice I don’t think I will be returning here any time soon Toby carvery you need a big improvement here Service was very good by the way pity the food wasn’t

Would not recommend visiting on a Sunday - not only are the meals a third more expensive, but the staff are clearly not enjoying their work and are foul tempered. The meat choice is good, but the portions are small. The veg etc is sloppy and nothing to look forward to.

Came out for a little meal with my family and I am very disappointed in everything. The food was absolutely awful! Me my brother and boyfriend got a carvery, spuds tasted like they have been left there all day dry soggy and cold vile! Mac n cheese tasted like plastic. The food was not fresh! My dad got a vegaterian dish and hardly touched it cause he could not bare to eat it, my dad had got this meal previously before somewhere else and he said it did not taste the same not even a similarity between the both. The only thing that was nice was the drinks. To top it of all the staff look miserable and rude and arrogant, especially the manger I think it is??! I won’t be returning again absolutely disgusting and the atmosphere is dreadful

was there on Thursday 25th July first there was no beef available also most of the veg pots were empty or very low so what was left was dry and crisp (carrot, onions ect) it was only 17.30hrs heavy metal music coming from the kitchen was very annoying then to top it all a young male member of staff goes behind the servery and picks up a Yorkshire pudding with his bear hand and starts eating whilst in the serving area, he then came back for another one and done the same, this time he used the tongs to pick it up .Terrible experience its put me off Toby Carverys for a while .

Food very nice it was a really quiet day so had a leisurely meal and drink would go back again.

Dog friendly. Not a lover of carvery but yesterday it was quite nice. Reasonably priced.

Break was ok, it was quite, the wallpaper was coming off the walls in some places. Wish there was pancakes and porridge as another option. Plenty of parking. Clean outside.

Came on a Tuesday night about half 6 for a spontaneous dinner as we couldn't be bothered to cook. On arrival we were welcomed warmly and given a freshly cleaned high chair for the baby and told someone would be back to take our order. Nobody came so we ended up going to the bar to order our drinks and order our food. Upon going to get our carvery the food was not nice. Vegetables were dry like they had been sat under the hot plates for too long, the roast potatoes were hard and had a stale like texture to them, mac and cheese was like rubber. Half way through the meal a bowl of pigs in blankets were placed on the table which were inedible. They were solid and dry. A server came to check we were okay and when told about the pigs in blankets was very helpful in taking them away for us offering another batch, which we declined. At the end we went to pay and had 3 carveries on the bill, when we only had 2, however, the staff were very helpful and this was promptly sorted.

Beautiful place clean and tidy food excellent plenty of car park space price reasonable especially when you go back for more and staff so friendly and polite. ...well done to all the staff and chef 👏👏👏 nothing more to add a couple of years on ...

Best roast spuds I've ever tasted

First time visit,won't be the last, 3 adults and 1 child,. lovely hot tasty food and our server Elle was so friendly and helpful, she's a real credit to Toby carvery.. excellent service..won't be our last visit.. The Windle family.

Took my mother here on Sunday for her birthday, We were party of six, food was standard not quite hot enough in my opinion, five of us were having meat with our meals and one had the meatless option (vegetarian) We asked for a jug of water for three of us, we never got a jug just glasses of water ! We ordered 1 coffee and 1 tea which arrived with the water we also ordered 1 J 2 o which never arrived, We had our meal paid and left however when we arrived home I thought it was a bit more expensive than it should have been and reckoned it up and realised we was charged full price for the meat free option and also charged for the J2o, so just a little disappointed with this visit.

Not a very good experience,staff look unhappy,breakfast was poor bacon inedible pancakes freezing definitely won't be back

I don't know if it was just because it was a busy father's day meal but the meats were all very fatty and horrible. Everything else was ok though and the staff were lovely.

Having been to a few Toby Carverys, and knowing that even our picky eaters are happy there, when we were on holiday recently, we thought this would be a safe bet to get our evening meal. It was the best one we've ever had! We must have timed it just right because everything was fresh and well stocked, the service was really good and we were very impressed.

Food was ok. Service was pants but I have suspicion that the guy that served us was the only one working the entire bar and food side of service didn't see another member of staff anywhere.

Stunning service, couldn’t ask more from the servers, made me and my mrs feel very welcome. Gutted couldn’t have more meat but oh well, the chef that served it was very sound, even had a chat with me about tattoos, his were sick 🤣 Will be coming back 100%

Not many staff about, but we were welcomed, shown to a table and offered drinks quite promptly. Needed to use the gents bathroom (near the carvery hotplate), washed my hands (no liquid soap), electric drier did not work, no paper hand towels in dispenser, thought to use toilet tissue as an alternative. First and second cubicle floors were strewn with toilet tissue, wet and looked totally ignored by cleaning and maintenance staff. Reported to waiting staff. Poor show for an otherwise pleasant place.

Simply the Best... Normally it's good but today has been the best food here I have ever had, the roast beef was incredibly juicy and the Yorkshire puddings were so light and crispy.. Thank you...

Should've picked up on the vibe as soon as we walked through the door. 6.30 on a Saturday night and hardly a soul in the place. Food was bland, luke warm and not very appetising. Waiting staff were the only highlight as did make sure on more than one occasion if we needed anything. Should've asked for my plate to be popped in the microwave to warm it up!!

Servers don't want to serve people, managers prefer to stand about chatting rather than running the business, food is average.

Food was ok the carver was a bit small on the meat slicing. Never used the carvery before here . Don't understand why toby carvery in general don't serve turkey gravy. The vegetarian one is always lumpy and tastes horrid. A chicken gravy or Turkey would be lovely.

Had breakfast for the first time 23.5.24 as recommended by a few, it was not to any standard at all. The staff were not engaging, the toaster is a 2 slicer that takes around 10 minutes to lightly brown your toast, so if you got your food before your toast it would be cold and pointless.food was disgusting mushrooms wrinkly and dried up, tomatoes were like soup, the sausages were dry to the point the skin was separated from the sausage, hash browns were warmed up, the bacon was either leather or something quite close to it. No fresh juice just tea and coffee.very disappointed and will not return save yourself from a disappointment and go elsewhere.

Servers seemed rude, watched us eat and were very blunt, had no manners towards us and didn’t check how we were for the duration of our stay. The girl serving asked every table around ours how their meals were, if they wanted anything extra or any additional dietary needs but not us, the potatoes and yorkshires tasted old and a lot of the veg was very dry like it had been out for a while.

No spuds with dripping left (20 min wait) no stuffing (10 min wait) no gravey left had to wait 5 min to make more.as I'd already got my meat I ended up with normal roast no stuffing and a cold dinner as waited for gravy

Went there today,food was chronically bad.When I said we were only given a small amount of beef I was told by the waitress we are only allowed 165 grammes of meat each unfortunately it wasn't meat it was fat and gristle totally unedible veg also luke warm although the plastic serving spoon handles for the veg were scalding.My elderly father wanted a child's portion the waitress again said that children portions are only for children my dad has terminal cancer and only eats a few mouthfuls so we paid £14.95 for a spoonful of mash and gravy he couldn't eat even a mouthful of the beef as again it was just gristle and fat.Overall service was OK and i appreciate shes just the messanger for Tobys in house policies but food was very poor . No wonder it was the only place we could get a Sunday lunch table at short notice, will never set food in a toby in again.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines outstanding as “exceptionally good.” I define it as the entire experience provided by the Toby Carvery in Ormskirk. Not only is the atmosphere is a welcoming one, and the food both simultaneously delicious and nutritious, but the service stands alone above all. Our server today, Syd, seated us exceptionally quickly and brought their A-game with regards to table side conversation. I cannot recommend this establishment enough; especially when staff members like Syd are on shift…

Today included a wonderful carvery which included an incredible selection to sink my teeth into. The service today from Syd was top notch and the banter to follow this service was well and truly above incredible. I would like to thank Syd for making my week and for a mouth watering carvery. Incredible meal. All a man could ever want. The service was great, Syd not only served great food but also great banter. Next time we visit it will not only be for the food but in line with Syd's rota. With a brilliant spinach pithivier and plenty of options, who knew a vegan could be so happy in the carvery? Big thanks to Toby and Syd for a great meal and experience.

I recently visited Toby Carvery in Ormskirk with my partner and we had a wonderful experience. We were served by a lovely girl named Sydney and she was friendly, helpful and made sure to deliver whatever we needed to enjoy our time in the restaurant. She’s a credit to the team. The food was delicious, as it always is at Toby Carvery. We love the Ormskirk restaurant for its atmosphere, always making us feel welcome and happy. This is the top spot for a homely and comforting roast dinner!

I came a couple of days ago and had a lovely experience, the food was delicious and out serve syd did an excellent job of ensuring we had everything we needed and service was very quick and efficient.

They wouldn't cater for my daughter who has multiple allergies explained she couldn't eat anything needed to be remade for her cause off cross contamination but refused so she was left eating nothing won't be eating there again

All the breakfast food was so greasy. Food had ran out and it took about 20mins to get new trays of food put out. When you have little ones with you this is not ideal. Won’t be coming again due to the quality of the food and the service.
