It's been brilliant since The Buck reopened. Great pint of Guinness and wonderful staff

Great staff, had a room reserved for school reunion very hospitable.

Dissapointed. Over priced burnt, unable to eat cheese toasties. Out of 8 people none of us could find the cheese.

Fantastic food and service! Italian tapas and big portions so beware how much you order, you can always order more. You will not be disappointed with presentation and flavours.

Went on Friday night and it was empty, food was delicious but not worth the money. Best example is the Pizette which is basically a pizza but smaller and at £12 that's more expensive than a full-sized pizza in some of the excellent Italians in the area. Also as everything basically came out at the same time you had to rush your food before it went cold, I know this is the concept but it doesn't make for an enjoyable culinary experience. Won't go again but if it's this empty every Friday I can't see it lasting. Other small plate restaurants charge about £8 per plate not £10 to £13

Just had a nice afrernoon around ormskirk town center with my partner, had few drinks in different pubs but returned back to here as we liked the me menu, we both ordered the fishermans platter well worth the money and the service from the barmaid was 10/10 defo be back soon

We’ve been to Luca a few times now and love the place. Food is amazing and staff very friendly. Our go to restaurant in Ormskirk. Right on Stiles carpark so easy to park and they have great gluten free options. Great place for taking friends everyone are always impressed.

I enjoyed the plates we ordered, especially the meatballs, which were very, very good. I think it's a tad expensive compared to other tapas bars (in Liverpool where it's ultra competitive), so not great value. My classic Negroni was nice, but not served in an Old Fashioned glass. Service was friendly, we did wait a fair while for the remaining 3 plates we ordered (I know tapas plates arrive when they are ready, but it's not usual you finish 3 plates before the other 3 dishes are served). Also we were not told about unavailable dishes until we'd chosen some which were actually unavailable, so that's quite frustrating. A nice meal though, nice servers but maybe a bit too expensive for what you get.

Small plates. Ordered lasagne, stale, dry cardboard like sheets, inedible, got the meatballs and sea bass, also poor. Whole experience unsatisfactory, overpriced, will not be back

Very over priced especially when the food is terrible every dish we ordered had Parmesan granules dumped on top without asking for it the presentation is appalling. There were 4 of us two where sick all night. I wasn’t sick but do feel like being sick when I think of the meal we will never go back. The waiter was lovely and looked embarrassed to be bringing such sub standard meals out.

Sat down in the restaurant service and the food arriving was too quick especially when you are paying between £10-£13 for a small plate. Was in there an hour and ended up spending £300 for 5 of us, extremely expensive for what you get. Decor and staff were nice. Not sure I will be back.

Enjoyed a really lovely meal last night at Luca, rosemary and Seasalt fries full.of flavour and pizza was really good. My favourite part was the dessert a deep fried cheesecake with sorbet! Will be coming back to try more of the menu

Used to come here 25 years ago (a lot!) and although it's changed (including not having to bend down and give your order to the barman through a low window) it's still a great pub in the heart of Ormskirk. Good selection of beers and wines.

Service not great wine left on table not opened ,different beer than we asked for £13 service charge what service sea bass on purple potatoes don't try and reinvent the potato

Food was average and extremely pricey. We got 6 small plates between us and a Diet Coke each and it came to £99. Absolutely extortionate prices for what you get. Will not be returning.

Very overpriced for what you get!! Came out very disappointed 😔 a roast dinner which cost £22 per person you should come out full not still hungry! Never again!!

Over charged a party of eight by £150!! We had paid for drinks separately. Then gave us two bills that were not ours and were for another table! Diabolical!

Have been here numerous times for a drink however, the new owners have increased the drinks prices dramatically. The Monday to Friday offer before 5 has gone. We would normally pay £8 for two drinks today £14.80. Bye to the Buck.

To be honest I’m not a massive fan of tapas but thought I’d give it a go. Seated promptly. Drinks ordered was incorrect but no big deal. Food came out incredibly fast for a table having ordered 12 plates. Food was averagely nice. We ordered pudding but had to wait a while as one of the tables pudding didn’t arrive. We alerted the staff who did deduct from the bill. Thought the bill was expensive.

Dropped in on the off chance for Sunday Lunch, absolutely gorgeous food, we all had the Roast beef lunch which was so tasty, service was just right, attentive but not overbearing, Italian style puddings were delicious. A great small plates menu, will definitely be returning to try those, good pricing!

We enjoyed a birthday lunch here recently 21/4/23 the restaurant is newly opened , beautiful interior with relaxing ambiance and the waitress was really friendly and knowledgeable in helping us choose a selection of sharing starters which were excellent! All the food was delicious and well presented we shall definitely return thank you .

Went on Grand National day for a breakfast and the place was lovely and the food was amazing. Pete did a fabulous job the service was excellent will definitely be going back soon.

Very friendly lady behind the bar. Nice green tea but Spanish panini I don't think so. Menu said Rotisserie chicken and Chorizo. No sign of any chicken or any chorizo. Pesto and peppers yes . £12 95 probably worth £6 and that's being generous.

As a group of friends we have been coming to this pub for years to watch the football, casual drinks or birthdays and Christmas. After attending for the football we won’t be returning. I understand the cost of supplies has massive jumped but to be told by a rude member of staff “well we need the money” wasn’t the answer we was looking for when asking why it had risen. Friends had also been told to not put their drinks back on the table after the same member of staff wiped the table down ready to close. Such a shame for such a historic pub to now be turning into a student bar basically.

Definitely recommend this place lovely staff, happy hour till 5pm and drink is cheap and tastes nice especially a bitter shandy.

I was treated like royalty the whole time I was in! Couldn’t fault the staff and was a lovely bar to visit in ormskirk. Rachel and James were perfectly polite. I will be returning soon :)

Called in at 3.30pm today were told kitchen opened at 4pm. Indeed it did and we had a great bar snack - wantons and chips etc for 3 of us plus water for our dog - definitely recommended

Noticed a lot of change over the past couple of months, unfortunately not good change. Previous management had a great thing going. Couldn't do enough, made us feel so welcome. Unfortunately that has now changed. Place is more like a prisoner war camp. Not sure...

Great pub and great value especially the Cider which was excellent value between 12 and 5.

Really enjoyed our time at the the Buck. Locals and staff very friendly and fine beer is served. Great venue too to just sit in a quiet area with a beer and let the world pass you by.

It may just look like your average neighbourhood pub but .. the buck i 'th' vine in ormskirk is anything but . My family and I were recommended the buck by a friend and was definitely not disappointed from start to finish Not only was it clean with all the covid measures in place but James and and kate went above and beyond to make us feel welcome . Fantastic service , friendly and attentive to our needs at all times . Would highly recommend and will be booking back ourselves soon .

Spent some money on this and it's really nice. £3.90 for a lager puts me off slightly. The old post office has a similar price with a good discount on their app, so guess where I drink

I used to love coming in here a few years back with its tiny cubbyhole bar area and it had kept it's old traveller's rest charm from the 18th century...including the bells in the smoking room for ringing for service (they hadn't worked in decades...
