Toby Carvery Kings Norton in Birmingham

Best carvery to go to. Just don't go on a Sunday. Booked for 3.50. Got seated at 4.10. Finally sat with my meal at 5.05. The que for the carvery was wrapped around the pub. Certainly wouldn't of waited if I had kids.

Popped in as friends birthday hadn't booked and was rammed,lovely lady said if we were prepared to wait approx 20 mins she could get us a table.less than 10mins and seated. Carvery was amazing staff attentive. When asking for the bill young lady asked if we had a voucher?? Then explained if we downloaded the app would get a sizeable amount off the bill ,which of cause we did 😀 staff very friendly food Great will definitely be going back 💗

Never had a bad meal, meat can be occasionally fatty but not enough to moan about. I keep going back so can't be that bad 😉

Avoid. Long waiting time. Long lines. Staff who are rude.

Lovely place to come and eat. Not always full meat choice on offer but that's because it's always busy. However, food is nice, good selection of veg and service is friendly. Will definite be back!

Some customers were treated more warmly than others. We simply walked in without a reservation. We were assigned to the bar area. My wife clearly expressed her request to move to the restaurant area. But the staff insisted we stay in the bar without explanation. Meanwhile, a lady who made the same request before my wife was accommodated immediately. Additionally, the bar area is a self-service section with tables not set for dining. When I asked one of the team members for cutlery while carrying my food, she simply opened the drawer and left me to help myself. We couldn't help but feel unwelcome and unfairly treated.

Not the first time visit , we came today with the £6 carvery offer and booked at 6pm, we expected will be more people than usual but didn’t expect the extremely long waiting time for carvery ! Staff at reception worked really hard to get table for us in 10 mins however the queue has been extended longer and longer . We joined the queue and finally waited for one hour ! Yes one hour at the queue. The reason is not about the food supply but how the staff management is . Only One guy serving customer while he responsible on cutting meat as well as get all meats out from kitchen when it’s gone . Another guy who only take care vegetables and looks less busier ,why don’t he also help on meats to share some workloads ? Come on be flexible ! At least manager should have noticed short of hands and get sorted of it .

Lovely food had an amazing server think her name was Beth she was lovely to us and made our experience great.

It was my first time to visit for breakfast, and I was looking forward to it. However, the waiter did not introduce us at all, did not speak, and just stood in front of the cashier. We asked the waiter if there was a drink menu, and she said no. There was no receipt after payment, so I suspected that they had been overcharged for the meal.

We had a server called Claire who was really friendly and made the experience positive. Food was beautiful.

The staff member went above and beyond due to huge queues we were going to leave as having physical health problems, we are unable to stand for long periods of time. The staff asked what meats we wanted and brought us our plates allowing us to just get our veg. Couldn’t of asked for more

Went for a yummy unlimited breakfast with the boo thang, everything was lovely. HOWEVER I didn’t care for the mushrooms, but dry and cold. The hashbrowns are 10/10 though 🫶🏻

Sunday all you can eat breakfast 😋 a must try

It's a Toby Carvery and there's not a lot else to say. It has a blandness that most chain restaurants fall into. They do what they do and do a reasonable job at it but no more

On visiting today 22.2.2025 , not only was the food awful and tasteless, gravy like water the service was appalling, was shown to our seats by a man in lilac shirt, ordered drinks and were just thrown on table, I said thank you and was no responce . After food the waitress came back and asked if everything was OK but walked away before we could open our mouth. Worst £78.00 spent. We went to McDonald's after and food was so much better .we have always had good meals but this visit was awful, don't usually complain but on this occasion is needed.

Excellent service: particularly team member Adel, and who was exceptionally friendly, engaging customer focused, efficient and professional. Although the restaurant didn't appear to be busy, likewise few customers queuing at the Carvery, they had run out of the lamb, two forlorn bones resting on the tray. There were no Yorkshire puddings available and no gravy, until a team member was requested to refill - and this was just 5pm.

Had a lovely breakfast with the family today, all the staff were amazing 💓 thank you to the bar manager, the lady setting and clearing tables and to the chef for a lovely breakfast and experience, will definitely return

Just had a quick unplanned lunch with my Mum as we don't see each other very often and I didn't want her to cook... Claire looked after us really well, we could see she was really busy...but she was super friendly and kept a smile on her face...would definitely recommend and we'll be back

The food was delicious, Turkey was nice, a little dry. The Mac and Chesse was a 10 out of 10 and the Cake was an 11 out of 10. Staff were friendly. I Would come again

Took nearly 45 minutes to provide the vegetarian meals offered

Ordered through Uber Eats and a third of the entire meal was just left out of the delivery. Tried to get the food sent out but no option so instead was refunded. Extremely poor service. No attention paid to the order. No apology from the restaurant. Will never order from there again.

Angry lady on front desk who i think was the manager with glasses. 14 feb 6pm. Too many delivery drivers hanging around inside because they call the drivers when food isn't ready (a driver told me this) waited on front desk for 5 mins before the angry lady arrived. Won't be back ever again.

I have been a big fan of Toby Carvery for years (I have picked it for multiple birthday dinners!) but yesterday decided to try ordering for delivery via Just Eat, as I had friends round. The food was delivered promptly, but it was cold to the touch after what must have been under a 5 minute drive. We received one full pot of gravy and one that only contained 80ml. There was also one of the side dishes missing. I reported it to Just Eat who are refusing to offer a refund as it is 'in line with their policy'. It has really put me off eating at Toby Carvery, and I certainly won't order for delivery again!

Had breakfast here. It was very good with plenty of choice. Would have been five stars if it had been hotter.

Long waiting time even though we booked. However, the food and service were great. The light in the carpark is so bright it blonds you from the road. Needs looking at.

Visited with a friend who has dementia and the staff couldn't have been kinder. Food was good but a lack of vegetables was the only issue.

Everything except the food was good. Yorkshires flat and like rubber, veg cold , gravy tepid and the vegetarian pie was terrible the unusual combination of mushroom and caramelised onion was sickly and the pie crust was like rock. £10.99 is beyond a joke for a few veg and cold gravy. I won’t be going back again although I have been fairly regular in the past. My opinion is it’s going slowly downhill and there are better places to eat.

The whole format is a bit tired. The toilets are tiny, the lock on one didn't work at all. Dark wood and 1970s looking decor. Food ok, meat was fine but I don't know why you claim your gravy is famous as it's tasteless and cold and would benefit from a splash of wine and a bit of jam to make it tastier. We came to kings Norton and have been regulars at the Walsall Toby which is equally tired and needs a facelift. However staff are nice and attentive although we wondered if my husband's crumble was being made from scratch.

Hadn't booked a table, but was prepared to wait 45 mins. Gave up after 50 mins and went elsewhere.

Day we went very busy because of police incident at wetherspoons pub staff did their best to cope but 15 min wait for food this effected what good you could have

Ordered a take away carvary on the app, food was lush, all well cooked, gammon was tender, roasters and yorkshire pudding was in another bag was nice touch as I hate a soggy yorkshire also separate gravy pot One issue that annoyed me, I waited at the desk thing at the front for a good 7 mins before been greeted which is to long and needs to be addressed, if wasn't for the delay would have been a perfect score Well done for a delightful carvary I will be back soon...

My parents had booked for 3:40 they told us we had to wait till 4:20 so we was waiting for two hours watching everyone that had come in go before us with the same amount of people absolutely ridiculous.

Very friendly and efficient staff and we were served drinks with a smile by Claire. Great value for money considering how fresh veg and meat were in the carvery selection.

Katie was a delight, friendly and personable. Food was colder than it should have been. Delay serving meats, for some unknown reason.

Just ordered off deliveroo. No stuffing. No cake. Everything was dry and cold like it had been left out. Not great food at all. And a tiny bit of gravy. Such a shame as I have eaten there and that time the food was really great 🙁. Its very expensive for cold dry food, paid £20.

Great value for money! It seems like everywhere you go these days for food they’re trying to do you over on price. The Toby Carvery here in Kings Norton has remained great value and have been consistent in their delivery. Visited here during a weekday, and the service was great! We were warmly welcomed on entry and seated. It didn’t take long for drinks to arrive and then we queued for the carvery which was not too busy. I don’t really have much criticism when it comes to the carvery as the price is reflective to what’s on offer. I would suggest bringing back some more vegetable options such as sweetcorn, which wasn’t present on my trip here. Also, the meat is on the shy side when being carved. Slightly more or thicker cut slices would have earned the 5* rating along with more draft options at the bar, which is like a trip back to the early 2000’s with the choice options. The dessert was also very nice but noticed they have reduced in size since my last visit here. Either way, it tasted nice and is still a lot cheaper than most other places these days. The service here was great, and the waitresses are on their feet constantly working hard and making sure we were happy with everything throughout. They are a real credit to the franchise.

I have been to many toby carvery i use them every day I'm a trucker but I would never go back to kings Norton the food was disgraceful the worst I've ever had

Staff were friendly, that's all the positives I have. Food was cold, eggs like jelly, coffee not drinkable neither was the tea. The bread has to go through the toaster at least 4 times to get toasted. Really was all awful. It was pretty busy too so no excuse to why the food was so cold and tasted disgusting. All 3 of us struggled to eat our food. Premiere inn breakfast is so much better and better value for money. Will never return and don't recommend anyone else going either. Im still in shock on how bad it all was.

I have recently visited this carvery on at least 2 occasions & have found some improvement in the food as of late. Unfortunately there was only one member of staff serving at the time of one visit, which made the wait for food extra long. The atmosphere was extremely loud with lots of children running about. I think it was Kids Eat For A Pound day. My one gripe was the fact that compared to a weekday the carvery on a Sunday was an extra £4-00 which I found to be quite exorbitant considering today's climate. I personally would never go to this particular carvery again on a Sunday

You have to register your car to park. If you forget, you're fined! Not cheap, either. Gammon and lamb were dry. We won't go again.

Well pleased with our visit and Sue our waitress went above and beyond to serve us. The only trouble that we had with the carvery was it seemed to go cold quick. I don’t think the gravy was as hot as it could have been.

Just finished my day shift at Queen Elizabeth Hospital when 2 lads from Toby Carvery came and delivered 38 meals to the hospital staff for free! Thank you for being so kind! We all appreciate it 🙏 🙌 💯
