The Fox in Birmingham

All of the wait staff were lovely and friendly, However we were seated in a tiny booth (there were 5 of us) which was cramped and not big enough for everyone to sit comfortably. The chef cut the tiniest pieces of meat possible from the carvery and the "slice of beef" was literally just a raggy bit of fat - for the price of the carvery the amount of meat u get is terrible and clearly the chef doesn't think to even cut off a piece which is atleast edible. The selection of veg was minimal and disappointing compared with other carveries. The carrots were clearly just dry frozen carrots with zero taste, the stuffing was baked to death and one of the roasters i'd picked up had a rotten patch in it (see pic). It's as though no care or attention whatsoever is put into the food.

The Chef, Amy, was amazing with my two year old. Showing him how to make the desserts and pizzas. So friendly. Made a family meal exciting and interactive. She really made the evening special for him.

We visited this pub on this Tuesday Excellent service from Jake and the Manager. However carvery meat was cut wafer thin and they ran out of two vegetables .

Took my 4 yr old grandson for lunch last week .great that he could pick exactly what he wanted .good quality food and good service

I went to the fax with my dad to have a carvery, the meal was very disappointing, the roasters were rock hard and could not be eaten even though the chef had bought out fresh ones, the mash was lumpy, the staff looked like they could not be bothered or even cared, no one came to ask how the meal was, as I assume they already knew how bad the food was, we both had a pint of Johnsmiths with are meal and we both felt that it tasted flat. We went on a Saturday and the pub was empty I can only assume that this is due to the poor quality of the food and the unwilling and unhelpful staff. I would recommend that no one goes to this very poor pub, me and my dad will never go there again.

Situated off a busy main road with surrounding shops. Good size car park , remember to enter your car regd when you arrive. Plenty of bar / waiting staff both kept busy . Food and drink both good. Food portion a bit hit and miss . IE 1 portion of chips last visit you could count on your fingers . This week, a fair portion is the same with carvery meat . Value for money, nothing fancy . Worth a visit .

I tend to visit the Fox for the carvery. The food is always very good, the pub is clean and comfortable and the staff are always very friendly.

We have been going here for a few years go at least 3 times a month but for the last few months it has been steadily going downhill vegetables all dry carrots were black mash was lumpy and dry and the roast potato’s were only half cooked and mostly rock solid the only good thing about that experience was the two lovely young ladies working

the carvery was dry and undercooked do NOT recommend, not much option to choose from

Amy and Anna were great servers, made an old couple very happy on a Sunday.

Went for breakfast... sausages burnt. You can get pizza on your breakfast but can't get basic brown sauce. Hit water for tea was warm not hot. Tea was luke warm after adding milk. Toaster hardytoasted bread. Used to be great here for Breakfast but not anymore sadly. The only positive thing I can say about my experience today is the girl on the till who served us was really nice.

Always great value for money Sunday Carvery, plenty of choice - might not have the Guiness with such a big plate next time - too filling - no room for pudding 😳😂 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dropped in here for a no frills quick quiet lunch.its a Calvery restaurant,beef ham or turkey meat.i had beef my father was turkey the meat looked dry but was absolutely brilliant nice and tender a decent portion full of flavour.the mash and cauliflower cheese were good and proper roast potatoes.good gravy so for the price it was good the only thing i could find wrong is there was no horseradish sauce and one of the waitresses had ear phones on putting Halloween decorations up and was singing which was dreadful I would have paid extra for her to stop lol but overall 4/5 cheers

Great staff, especially Em always friendly and helpful.. Used the pub for 23 years so it's shame the current manager is doing his best to ruin it. No darts team or pool team noww.. Generally all the staff are brilliant.. Em ,Anna, Will, Amy, Caitlin Aaron Carol. Too many to mention but are all good and a credit to the pub.

Expensive glass of wine @£8!!..yet there were others at £5.60-££7.. I seemed to pick the most expensive!!!

Absolutely disgusting. Refusing serve us to a carvery due to them being under staffed. Had 2 children and my disabled mom with me. Wouldnt allow us to sit down for my mom to get her breath back.

Anna served us and was brilliant. She had a lovely smile and was very attentive and happy to help. The food was fine and it's nice to find an alternative place for a carvery at The Fox to replace the now closed Toby Carvery in Sutton Park.

Service was excellent.Had a lovely carvery and dessert. Very clean and tidy. Drinks delivered swiftly and table cleared of plates and empties also swiftly.

The good old fox. I love the morning Breakfast as well as the evening Calvery. I have been coming hear for years. And very time is a wonderful experience. Anna is a wonderful worker. Her warm smile just makes my day a perfect one.

We had a fantastic carvery meal at lunchtime last Tuesday, so decided to bring the rest of our family tonight as a treat. Very different quality of both food and service, so disappointed. Family group of 7, 3 of us had a carvery, all of which were delicious. However, the remainder of our group had fish, lasagna, burger and a kids chicken dippers meal. Mediocre at best, over cooked and dry, so clearly re-heated/microwaved. The meals did not come out together, so those of us who had meals had to start eating so they didn't get cold. The service staff were very poor in comparison to Tuesday's excellent service. Maybe it was because it was an evening service and busier, but standards should remain the same. I'm not sure that I will return, or if I do it would definitely be for a carvery only.

Waiting staff are great but food tastes awful. Burgers are really cheap and nasty. Grease flavoured.

I go most Sundays for a Breakfast Sandwich for my little one and myself. It's sooo good that it's become a usual Sunday routine to get our breakfast sandwiches from the Fox. Extra crispy bacon, egg and hash brown baps - 10/10 - £2.99 bargain! Additionally I'd like to thank Anna the and the rest of the staff for great, quick and friendly service too!

Had a shocking meal with my wife. Ordered starter and main. Starter came out quite quick. Main was pizza. Horrendous. Burnt the first pizza so had to wait ages for another one to be made. Female chef very loud and brash. Shouting across the restaurant. Very unprofessional. Had fries with pizza. They came out way before the pizza. Served luke warm. Won't be rushing back to this place.

Just popped in on the off chance to see if they do breakfast. Brilliant breakfast unlimited same as coffee. I will definitely be coming back again. Emily and Kate were brilliant and if you have a chance, give the breakfast a try.

Nice inside and wasn't too busy with service and wait times for food (both ordered and carvery) very good. The carvery meat was good quality with decent portions but the yorkies were on the small side yet still tasty. Staff were great, very friendly and welcoming. Would visit again.

Staff are rude and haven’t got a clue. food was cold and most food on carvery section was dried out, no vegetables. no cookie but eventually brought one over to our table - this ended up being hard and horrible. We asked for ice cream with the apple pie but received custard. staff seem to have no manners and don’t read their order tickets. Carol was very rude & unable to take a proper order. Don’t think we will be coming again.

Chris who runs it is really lovely. Always looks after my Nan and Grandad when they eat there each week.

This evening as a family we had a carvery. Chris/Mustafa did not serve us on this occasion but I could hear and see how hard he was working - cleaning tables, welcoming customers and serving. He is a credit to the team at The Fox.

We order pizza for the kids but had to wait for delivery order to be done before ours was started, worst of all was the loud lady shouting across our table from behind the counter to other customers and staff while we was eating and having our own conversations.

Massively gone downhill. Used to love this place but quality has been poor the last 4 times I’ve visited. Food often takes ridiculous amounts of time to arrive and is often over cooked and dry. I ordered a meal with no mash a few weeks ago for delivery and was given a bowl with pretty much nothing other than mash in. My Yorkshire pudding was rock hard and literally inedible. Tonight I ordered again and never received my cider and I’m being told I won’t be refunded despite me filming myself opening up the sealed bag because I knew immediately the weight of the bag was off. Not sure how it’s possible to charge someone for something they didn’t receive and then not give their money back with the consumer rights act being a legal obligation. Think I’ll dispute my payment as this has happened too many times. I honestly can’t be bothered ordering with them anymore. Been going here since the early 2000s and it’s not shockingly bad. I won’t be back any time soon.

Walked in for the first time since the refurb to find beautiful decor & a warm welcome. The food was delicious & hot. Great selection. Coffee was much needed early morning. We’ll definitely be revisiting soon.

Service slow and non-existent at times in bar area, went into watch evening football, screen set up good.

Had some carveries delivered for a family of 6 as I didn't want to cook a Sunday lunch, and I didn't feel like going out. It was delivered bang on time and there was more than enough food for everyone. There was a wide selection of veg, and the meat was really tender and tasty. There was also plenty of gravy and yorkshire puddings. Only one slight criticism, some of the family thought there was too much pepper in the mash, however me and my granddaughter thought it was delicious. Will definitely order again.

We came here on tuesday for a family meal and had a lovely time. The staff went above and beyond esp katie who was on the bar

The service is always fabulous here, and it was exceptionally good when we visited yesterday. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman (I'm not sure of this name, but thought he may have been the front of house mamager) who showed us to the table and explained about using the app. Although I'm not a fan of using the app as I always make mistakes, and it's not the most user-friendly, the manager (I think) was really helpful. We hadn't been able to select the children's pudding that comes with the kids' carvery, so he resolved that issue straight away. Food was okay as always, usually a bit better during the week but for the price and a self-serve veg carvery I can't complain. We were checked on a couple of times, and the staff member who had served us had a smile on his face the whole time we were there and a lovely manner with everyone who was dining on Sunday. From our chatty son, asking lots of questions to the lady, he helped back to her seat across the restaurant as she was struggling to carry her food. We'll keep dining here for a reasonably priced roast dinner (which my son loves) and the friendly staff/service.
