This is a very cool coffee house, lovely interior, super friendly staff. However, if you love you coffee this maybe isn’t the place for you, their coffee is weak and a bit sour, really not that nice, sorry guys 😬

We were in Ilkley for a special celebration and headed for the Toast House as we had had a wonderful meal there some months back. We were not disappointed, we were welcomed by an amazing team of delightful ladies who made us feel very comfortable. I had the best scrambled eggs on toast ever! Homebaked bread with real butter pilled high with creamy scrambled eggs.(even though brunch service had officially finished! shhhhh!) My wife enjoyed the daily special of feta cheese, spicey onion and porcini ham on fresh toasted bread. The coffee is without doubt the very best in Ilkley. But the best thing about the cosy and welcoming Toast House has to be the delightful staff. Thank you to all concerned.

Was here today with the lovely Ursula and our son Bill. Lovely little spot with character, some repurposed furniture which is really cute. Staff are a delight, so pleasant. We had their special scrambled egg on sourdough and it was absolutely smashing! Coffees were great too and good value all round. Highly recommended

Great little place, with emphasis on toast or toast based food. I and my brother ordered toasted fruit bread and it was fantastic; the butter was allowed to melt into the bread before it was served (please note: this is exactly how a fruit tea cake should be served). So good, in fact, we repeated our order. Good range of teas and coffee and really friendly service. 👏🙂

Why wait and queue at Betty’s when you can stroll in here for friendly service, excellent coffee & delicious food? Well worth a detour from the centre where you will be warmly welcomed and customer service matters

Popped in this morning for a hot drink whilst visiting the area, had a delicious quality hot chocolate, extra hot as I had requested and my husband had a flat white, both were very nice, unfortunately we did not require food but all looked very tasty and well presented. Thank you for your hospitality.

Went to Toast for lunch and the food and service was spot on. Great team working together to deliver a fab experience. Food was lovely and a little different to the bog standard menu. Coffee was really nice, not bitter at all. Would definitely go back and can’t recommend this place enough.

On a recent trip to Ilkley we called into the Toast House for a coffee. It was really busy and we had the last free seats. Good coffees, nice service. Food looked good too. Obviously very popular.

We stopped here for lunch - young and friendly staff served us quickly. We had a coffee, an earl grey tea and shared one of the sandwiches chalked on the board - the nduja, feta and avocado. Freshly made and very tasty. A good choice for lunch if you are visiting this pretty little town

My husband and I popped into Toast House cafe for takeaway coffees before going for a long walk around lovely Ilkley on Saturday morning. The cafe was busy, but had a nice relaxed vibe and the staff members were very friendly. We liked it immediately and ended up returning for lunch. For lunch we snagged window seats so we could watch the world go by while we eating (and drinking more yummy coffee, of course). I ordered smoky beans with smashed avocado and sour cream on their delicious sourdough and my husband ordered the brie and homemade onion chutney on more of the delicious sourdough. We shared both and had a hard time deciding which one was our fave, as they were both excellent. We couldn't leave without purchasing some of their sourdough bread and a couple of sweet treats - a slice of chocolate hazelnut cake and a slated caramel brownie - to take home. Glad we did. All just lovely. My only negative to report is that I did not have the foresight to buy two loaves of sourdough bread to take home, as I will be sad when we finish our loaf and Ilkey is 45 to an hour's drive from where we live. We will be back though and will definitely recommend this cafe to friends.

I am not exaggerating when I say this is the best cafe in the world…and I’ve been to so many. Toast House is a special place, it is perfect in every way. The food (I’ve tried everything) is always delicious, it’s simple yet incredibly tasty, prepared with a gentle, attentive touch (you can watch them making it so no hidden kitchen to worry about here!) and is consistently amazing. ALL the staff are absolutely lovely and truly care that you have a good experience, you don’t have to ask for anything, they just know. Nothing is too much trouble and I’m a right fuss pot! The coffee is perfect as are the loose leaf teas. The decor is as welcoming and warming as the staff are … not to mention the place is spotlessly clean. I can not recommend enough, travel far and wide to reach here (I drive for an hour each way) and you will not be disappointed!

A strong recommendation here for anyone seeking great coffee and light bites in a relaxing setting with a first class team providing the service. I personally love coffee and have traveled widely. I have never found better than Toast House Ilkley even in Italy or Central / Southern American. It is devine and consistently good every time. Toast House source their coffee from a niche supplier and have invested heavily in top of the range coffee making equipment. The staff are so meticulous preparing the drinks. This takes slightly longer but the payback is a consistent experience every time. You will certainly taste the difference. If you like espresso, my personal recommendation is ristretto which is a very short pulled drink. Less quantity than even an espresso and more condensed. Try the food while there. Lot's of home made and very tasty options. Excellent value as well in my opinion for such a good experience.

After my first visit to toast house I can happily say I will not be returning. If you read the replies from the management to any negative reviews on here you can gain an impression of the management style. The staff are extremely rude and unapproachable with an awful patronising undertone. I was spoken down to and also witnessed elderly people being spoken to in the same manner. Food is average at best and extremely over priced. There are so many lovely friendly cafes which appreciate their customers. Don’t waste your time here.

We stopped off for lunch, the cafe is very nice, lovely artisan coffee and a homemade menu, they only offer sour dough bread so be aware of that, the menu is quite small but the food is good, the cake selection is plentiful, my only issue was the price, personally I felt it was expensive for what was served. Just my opinion.

There are many elements that impress you about this establishment, friendly staff, cosy atmosphere, excellent selection of food, but the most impressive is that it serves the best coffee for miles. Outstanding.

I have always been impressed by the standard of service and friendliness of the staff at the Toast House. The decor is cool and aesthetically pleasing as well. It’s good to be able to find a decent coffee shop, as when I moved up here from Manchester I was used to having a lot of cool coffee shops to choose from. The coffee is very good, being from an independent coffee roaster, but it is the service that stands out more than anything else as the staff take a genuine interest in you as an individual and make you feel part of the community. Popped in for a quick bite as me and my mum were having a day out in Ilkley. (We definitely didn't regret it.) Although the cafe was packed, we were able to find a cute little window seat. Ordered a honey and cinnamon toast and a white hot chocolate. The toast is so good that there isn't a word in the dictionary that can describe how I felt after taking a bite into it. The bread was beautiful: crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Toppings were what I needed on such a cold day and the white hot chocolate was addictive; sweet and warming. Service was great and friendly and would definitely recommend coming here.

A regular haunt as the coffee (their own lovely smooth blend) is served at the right temperature - hooray! Food is spot on for a light healthy lunch and plenty of homemade cakes and jams to follow.Service is toasty too as the regular staff/owners know their beans and their customers....eg my flat white mocha (no problems with a different cup size to change up coffee/milk proportions) and buttered crumpets with homemade jam such as damson or blackberry and apple, is always presented with a knife AND fork - they've seen me work :)Love the place and the people in it, highly recommended.

Popped into this small café on a recent trip to Ilkley. Chose the brie on sourdough with red onion marmalade. It was really tasty and just the quick snack I was looking for. Service was good, staff pleasant and best of all the coffee was to die for!

Called in to the toast house for the first time. My partner had toast with lemon and lime marmalade and I had the toast with banana honey and cinnamon. I also had a coffee. It was really tasty and the coffee was excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lots of different options and specials to suit everyone. Will be back.

Had a great lunch after a bike ride. Had Mackerel with Onions. The Onions was presented in a fish like tin & was incredibly tasty with the option to add some lemon. Also came with a nice salad. Service was hospitable and made you feel welcome. Coffee was good to.

Ideal for coffee, light lunch or tea. Coffee itself is very good. Bread is local, cakes are homemade, jams are local too. Pleasing light meals (eg smoked haddock pate on toast with marinated onions and salad). Shame it closes at 4pm, as often a break for tea and cake about 4.15/4.30 would be welcome. Very pleasant staff too.

My friend and I stumbled across this cafe when choosing somewhere for a post-walk afternoon pick me up. Turns out we couldn't have chosen better! She's not a coffee drinker but enjoyed a lovingly made hot chocolate whilst I, being quite the avid artisan coffee fan, was more than happy with my delicious oat-milk flat white. The cafe has a lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere, I'll for sure be back - next time for a scone with homemade jam too! Thank you Toast House x

Visited here forl lunch. The sourbough bread was one of the best I have had. The mackeral pate was very good. Would hihly recommend !

It’s a “does what it says on the tin” type of place; the menu is fairly limited, but what they do serve is absolutely lovely! I had toast (shocker) with butter, but my friend had toast with avocado and said it was great too. The bread was lovely, we were served fairly quickly, and the coffee was really nice too. I didn’t try any of the cakes, but they looked very tempting. The setting’s extremely comfortable and homely, and staff are friendly.

We have visited Toast house since it opened and been delighted to watch it develop into the thriving excellent cafe that it has become.The friendly relaxed atmosphere with the delicious home made food make us keep returning like many other local people.At times it is very busy and it may be difficult to find a seat but the staff.always give first class service and have time to discuss any queries about the food and the many coffees teas and drinks on offer.

Tea selection was lovely, although the food menu was rather limited. The beans on toast we had were very over priced. There was a nice, busy atmosphere but the staff weren't approachable, and our waitress couldn't tell us what cakes they had on offer.

A great concept, perfectly executed. Toast House has a simple menu mainly based around wonderful sourdough bread, toasted (unsurprisingly!). Great toppings, some sweet, others savoury. Other breakfast options, generous granola and yoghurt for example. Excellent coffee and tea. And don’t miss the cakes!

Had breakfast here with a friend after having it recommended to us. I didn't know what to make of a menu centred around something I could so easily make at home but the food was delicious (particularly the frangipani toast) and the hot drinks equally so. Only downside is that the staff aren’t particularly welcoming when you first walk in.

I absolutely love coming to the Toast House. The selection of hot drinks is fab and it’s great that they cater for everyone’s needs e.g dairy free and gluten free options. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

Visited here solo for Brunch. Was made to feel very welcome despite being alone. Staff are lovely and bubbly. They even allow you to pay after the meal which is always a good sign that you're unlikely to complain!

This is such a fab little place; lovely atmosphere and really friendly staff. The decor is amazing; quirky yet stylish. Cakes look super yummy and they have gluten free options; my mum had a gluten free salted caramel brownie! Savoury options include various offering on toast; they also sell their bread fresh. Great place and would highly recommend!

We visited here on a Saturday for lunch with our 7 month old. We've been before, but pre-baby! The food was lovely and as we remembered it. I had avocado on toast and my husband had the homemade beans - the sourdough is so tasty! We couldn't resist a piece of cake too.

Visited this lovely cafe today with my Mother for a Tasty Latte and lovely fruit scone each.A regular Latte is a tad small at £2.50 but the bigger size at £2.80 is much better value.A fruit scone is £3.00 not the cheapest but Very Tasty and a choice of jam served in a cute little hovis tin.Nice Cafe.

Food here gets better and better!, I called in today and although I uesli have musually for breakfast, today I tried their superfood porridge which was outstanding and took the dairy free option of made with oat milk - Delicious and healthy, highly recommended.

Lovely staff, setting and food. Was jealous of the terraniums on display in the windowsill but soon forgot about that when I tasted the tumeric tea amd avocado concoction on sourdough toast. Amazing. Perfect for a light bite!

We called in after a walk around Ilkley and this cafe was really busy but we managed to get a table and find space for our pram. The coffee here is made using North Star roasts based in Leeds and their coffee really tastes great. My wife enjoyed her hot chocolate. We had a white chocolate and raspberry brownie to share and it was one of the nicest cakes we have ever had - we will definitely be back!

My brother in law is a regular here so when visiting he brought us here for breakfast. Absolutely fantastic! Everything looks so inviting and doesn't disappoint. The granola was delicious and some of us couldn't resist having cake for breakfast because it was so good....

Stopped here for breakfast- had the porridge and other half had peanut butter and jam toast- delicious and just what we needed. Friendly and efficient staff, great atmosphere, great selection of cakes etc. Even bought some brownies to go as they looked irresistible! Would reccomend....

Certainly my favourite cafe in Ilkley so far, delicious avocado toast and great coffee. It was half term so crammed with children and parents but that was fine apart from the fact that pop music was being played quite loudly, not suited to children or indeed most other people whilst eating. The cakes looked gorgeous too so will try those next time !!

Everytime I visit Ilkley I have to have my coffee from the toast house. Its actually the best there. Highly recommended!

I am so glad we visited this little cafe. Everything was perfect! I order porridge nearly everywhere I go for brunch and Toast served the best I've had yet. Highly recommend, and if I ever visit Ilkley again I'll be prioritising a revisit.

I love toast. Seriously, I could actually live on toast. It's the ultimate food. Quick, easy & delicious. So it's actually impossible for me to walk past this cafe purely because the smell of toast just drags me in. I also love coffee and when I say coffee I mean coffee, strong and black - so I had extremely high hopes for my first visit to Toast House.It was so difficult to choose what I wanted to eat. So much toast, all different breads. It was heaven but hell because I couldn't decide. Just give me some toast... When I did eventually decide I had toast with peanut butter and banana. Need I say more. Delicious.But the coffee.... where was the coffee? It was weak and limp and oh so disappointing. No punch at all. Next time I will stick with just toast.

Yes, the focus is on toast....with jam (sometimes homemade), with avocado, with honey, with marmite. A few decent homemade cakes too. Coffee range is good too, and well-prepared. very pleasant staff. seating is limited and a bit quirky, and acoustics are noisy. More for a "functional coffee break" r=than a "sit for a lazy chat over a coffee", but the quality is worth that. And it's certainly preferable over the several chain-providers elsewhere in the town.

We have been coming here since it first opened over 3 years ago! Love the cosy atmosphere, exceptionally friendly and kind staff, welcoming everyone! They do the best coffee in Ilkley and their original menu is delicious, healthy and quickly served. The cakes are Devine! On a weekend by 9.30am all tables are taken and the queue is forming. Similarly around lunch it is busy. But I am not surprised! Its concept, location, atmosphere, and quality food and service make the Toast House a place where it's worth to wait in a queue.

Visiting Ilkley, we were looking for a small independent cafe/ restaurant as we never ever go to Costa, Cafe Nero etc for over priced "coffee" which tasted awful on our only visit a few years ago (by the way, the tea is worse) We found Toast House on the Main Street, and what a find! Staff were extremely pleasant and welcoming. My wife had Avocado,feta and mint which was very tasty. Tea and coffee were perfect. I had a bruschetta which believe me, was better than the one that I had had at an Italian restaurant the previous night. Five stars richly deserved and we both look forward to our next visit.

Oh momma indeed! Breakfast this morning consisted of superfood coconut porridge (ok so 'superfood' is a bit cliched these days) and toast (when in Rome...) with banana, honey and cinnamon. In a word....awesome. Very very good quality food and tasty coffee all at a fairly reasonable price (it is Ilkley I guess!) Would 100% recommend and will be back for sure.

Was here today with my family. Well, what a lovely little spot!It's full of stuff you'd see on Salvage Hunters, Drew would just love it! Lots of old desks, tables and seats from everywhere and anywhere. And they are unrestored which is the correct way to have them!The food was terrific and the staff are lovely.Do not pass this place by if you are in Ilkley!!!

A break from the normal cafe, you can tell the staff want to be there and want you there and they serve the most freshest tasting, exiting and simplest food. No fuss service with a smile, this is the best place in Ilkley for a break from shopping or running errands. Highly recommended, thank you very much!

I have been meaning to leave a review of The Toast House for some time. In a crowded space it's not easy to stand out. I have been a visitor on a few occasions during the day and always come away with the feeling, "If Carlsberg did coffee shops"....Great service, superb coffee (The best I've tasted) and delicious food. The environment is special and you can tell the owners have thought a lot about atmosphere and the user experience. Saw they were doing Saturday evening meals so booked a table with my wife and a friend. We were not disappointed. A range of warm and cold sumptuous tapas bowls on offer, my wife thought the Tajine was much nicer than F&U (And she's a fan!). A well thought wine, beer and drinks selection showed great attention to detail. You can tell when a place cares about their customers and that comes through in every aspect of this delightful establishment. We will be back. Suggest booking on Saturdays to avoid disappointed.

My sister visited us in Ilkley from London, 4 adults and 4 children (all aged under 8) had a lovely breakfast at Toast, coffee great, service really friendly, try the home made Granola or cinnamon toast, absolutely delicious! Kids loved it.

I've been taking my grandchildren to Toast House since they were born. My grandchildren love the girls there. So, as far as 'not family friendly' I disagree.The seating is intimate and so of course, children need to be of a well behaved disposition. The Toast House seems to work perfectly well in welcoming an eclectic mix of people. I go to the toast house daily, my haven, my treat to myself....I look forward to my perfectly made coffee (which takes time), my well presented food (again, takes time).The girls work so hard to please everyone, and that's a great challenge. I do feel annoyed that people find the time to write negative comments, which in my view, are unjustified.You've probably seen only a 'snapshot' of life at the Toast House, and then feel qualified to voice an uninformed opinion. Take it from me (a very discerning customer), people love it here. You really should sit here everyday, like I do, to be able to give your opinion of whether or not this lovely little cafe is worthy of criticism. In any case, sites like this, unfortunately, provide a platform for people like yourselves to denigrate whoever they wish. The old adage 'if you've nothing nice to say, then keep it to yourself'...it's a great line!!Jen

Slow service and not really very child friendly. Probably for couples and single people without kids it's fine.The food is very expensive

Had dinner on the second night of Evening opening. Great vibe and food, wine delicious. Good to see most tables full. Works really well as an evening venue. Also very good value. Long may it continue!

Went to the first evening opening of Toast House. As usual, service was great - friendly, informal and efficient. Atmosphere was lovely for the evening. The menu is quite short,but everything on it is fresh, obviously homemade and tasted delicious. The whole family enjoyed it and liked the fact that the food was unusual and a great mix of things, including gorgeous puddings!

Really lovely people who make you feel so welcome, fabulous food all home made (the scones are to die for particularly when they have just come from the oven) and just wonderful coffee.....oh and don't forget to buy your Leeds Bread Co_'ll bread from here. Visited for the first time whilst staying in Ilkley (had been recommended by the proprietor of our apartment). Excellent venue. Good menu choice and very pleasant staff. Coffee was the best we've enjoyed in a long time. Would thoroughly recommend and would certainly visit again when we return to Ilkley. Thank you all at The Toast House.

Had heard about Toast and wanted to try. The menu is limited-but everything that's on there is cracking. Scones and cakes are to die for. They look so inviting you want to try them all - or is that just me?!?The lunchtime toasts won't be everyone's cup of tea but they are mine and very en vogue with things like avocado/Bodycoach.Coffee good -could have done with a slightly larger one, especially if I'd being going for coffee rather than lunch.One tiny thing - milk put in tea for you - my Mum likes only the tiniest of dashes. Was expecting milk to be served separate as usual. Nice touch that there are games and cards for kids which kept us occupied for the whole meal.Overall my kind of place. Well done Toast ladies X

Great place for a coffee, cake, salad or sandwich. The team are so friendly - it's like being at home! Lovely decor, great atmosphere. If in Ilkley then pop in to Toast just a Cooke of minutes walk along the main Leeds Road in the direction of the new Ilkley cinema. Enjoy.

We called in to Toast House when visiting Ilkley to go to the local butchers (long story). Lovely homely feel with some comfy chairs and some kitchen table style. I tried the Mozarella, pesto and tomato toast - a lovely fresh taste with rocket and green leaves dressing. A little pricey, but it is Ilkley!

A wonderful gem in ilkley, food is delicious even if it is just toast. However I do recommend that if you want food arrive before 12 as countless times I've arrived at about 1 only to find they have run out of food which is a bit annoying as the place is a little out of the way compared to the rest of town. Otherwise it's one of my favourite places in ilkley for a light tasty fresh lunch.

Toast is the cutest place! This morning I popped in for some tea and was peacefully relaxing with my book. Its a fab environment for 'me time' and so quirky. I will definitely have to try out the granola/porridge options!!

We live in Ilkley and frequently visit the many coffee shops that the town has to offer. The Toast House is by far our favourite, and although the coffee is slightly pricier than at other establishments it is certainly worth the extra. With a great offering of cakes and (as per the name) toast based savouries it is an absolute gem of a coffee shop. Well worth a visit.

I love bringing my fiends to this cafe. It is split level and always I receive a friendly welcome from ALL the staff as I/we walk through their door. Its usually extremely busy with customers perched on vintage chairs, stools or sofas.The food is delicious and freshly prepared, plus they have 'picky' food for if you don't want anything in particular. This cafe is great at catering for dietary needs and they always have gluten free cake (which I usually eat there PLUS take some home!).

Theres a whole bunch of completely mismatched seating, none of which looks inviting or comfortable. I went in with my wife who is considerably smaller than myself, she struggled to reach the table, where as, as soon as I had sat down I felt my legs were wedged and the table had been rasied up because of them.We ordered some coffees which were nice although a bit weaker than what I would normally expect, but maybe thats a preference. I opted for a seeded carrot cake with walnuts on top, which was tasty, but nothing to write home about. My wife had a flapjack, she said she'd had better. Also quite expensive for 2 coffees and 2 bits of cake.

Lots of things to choose on toast. Toast is lovely and crunchy made with sourdough bread. Innovative toppings include avocado, pea, mint and feta. I especially liked the dukka and hummus (dukka is middle eastern spices mixed with nuts). Lovely friendly staff and great value.

Called in for a take out sandwich toasted avocado with pea and mint - delicious had a scone too, great service and nice people, this is my local cafe as my new hovel is a short donkey ride away, even faster on an ostrich. If you are in Ilkley and want tasty healthy breakfast/lunch highly recommended. I'm going back tomorrow to try their coffee, check wifi speeds and translate the sourdough recipe on the wall into Latin. #interesting

Called in for a quick cuppa. This place is very busy so you are lucky to get a seat. Nice friendly staff and service is quick. Sampled the orange cake which was delicious and the pot of tea was fab too. Only downfall to this place is how small it is, it's off putting when there are people standing around over looking you whilst they are waiting to be seated. Would visit again preferably if there were seats available on the upper tier of the place.

Popped in with hubby for a quick snack lunch. He had the bruschetta, I the cinnamon toast (which was absolutely delicious). Also treated ourself to a slice of (very rich) delicious salted caramel brownie. Good coffee, good tea. Lots to like, though it is all "on toast" (though it's really good toast)!!

I popped in for a drink with a friend and immediately liked he feel of this place.it was a busy little place but thankfully I found a table. The decor is cool, mismatched wooden tables and chairs, very laid back with some comfy seating at the back. Sadly my friend didn't want to eat so we just had a few hot chocolates but the menu had lots that tempted me. I will return soon to try what was on offer.

Nice little place on the main road through Ilkley.Perfect for a short business breakfast of toast, strawberry jam and a cappuccino. Pretty trendy overall. Good, straightforward staff

Whilst exploring Ilkley, "just around the corner", so to speak from the main "Grove" on the main road through we discovered the Toast House. A little cafe with a big heart and good food (and drinks). The three staff were really friendly and the menu was really exciting and different. The seating was rustic but with charm. We chatted with a few who joined our long table, they seemed to be regulars as did quite a few others who the staff knew. Maybe locals going in their lunch breaks ?A good sign. We had a pot of tea which came with milk in a cute small milk bottle a cappuccino which was really creamy. We shared one of the house dishes a humus salad with a lovely Egyption spicy nut like mix and warm soda bread toast. A great find and if you venture of the main "drag" it shows it pays

My wife and I reciently had the pleasure of spending a couple of days in Ilkley, where there is no shortage of tea and coffee shops. This one really stood out from the bunch for its original menu, warm welcome and although it was very busy it still had a laid back relaxed feel to the place.

I regularly visit the toast house for a coffee at lunchtime. The coffee is extremely nice and there are many nice cakes to choose from. Its also has a very nice relaxed atmosphere and the staff are extremely friendly. A must visit!
