Went for a coffee first before going to the castle. Very nice friendly staff and good coffee so we went back later for a light lunch. Much busier with a fairly long queue but staff coped really well, still friendly and remembered us from earlier. The food was really good, the service good. Considering they have a captive audience they keep standards high and would thoroughly recommend

The high quality of the food at this cafe was quite impressive. We were a party of 10 ranging in age from 9 to 81 and we all loved our lunch. Several of us are vegetarians and we really appreciated all of the vegetarian and vegan options. It was one of the best meals on our trip.

Beach Cafe is the cafe at the bottom of Castle Road near to the footbridge for Tintagel island. It is run by English Heritage and is located in repurposed buildings from the mining industry. It sells a variety of hot and cold drinks, cakes and light lunches. The closest car park is The Castle Car Park on Atlantic Road (in the Wootons Inn). I think it was cash only at the time of our visit (£3.50 for two hours, £5 for all day). There are plenty of other car parks around the town if this is full. You need to allow 20-30 minutes to walk down to the cafe from the main road. There are also great views looking up at the footbridge and island and of the coast. We saw that there is a Land Rover service to take you back up the (very steep) Castle Road. This is not managed by English Heritage and there is a small fee. It's worth every penny!

Very disappointing visit. The staff were dispondant...didn’t see one smile! No interaction with visitors and woe be tide if you asked a question or changed you mind! The scones were rock hard so we asked for them to be warmed slightly, then they crumbled into a heap on the plate. The cream was also rock solid and impossible to spread on the crumbling scone...won’t be visiting again

We had to wait a ridiculously long time (half an hour) to order some hot drinks and food. When finally served the kitchen had closed 10 minutes previously so no food was available. The card machine was broken so we had to pay cash- and had to wait whilst others paid card on an old manual machine which only certain members of staff could use. The hot chocolates we were finally served were only Luke warm and at £3.60 it’s a joke. The staff were completely disorganised and didn’t know who had ordered what. A thoroughly disappointing experience.

Stopped for a coffee and a quick bite to eat after visiting the castle. We queued for quite a while at the main cafe, two people serving, fairly haphazardly. There was a sign on the coffee machine saying filter coffee only, full coffee menu available at the kiosk - the kiosk was closed. Everything was very slow, there didn’t seem much communication between the two people at the counter and the four others that were working weren’t helping with the queue. Had to ask for a tea cup for my tea, then for a tea spoon. They all seemed pretty fed up, maybe just a bad day for staff and visitors alike. There were no vegan options. There were very few smiles or pleasantries. We wouldn’t go back.

We visited this cafe following a visit to the site. Have queued for 15 mins, I asked what they had available for my two children who are coeliacs - I was offered soup and a roll or a GF brownie. Not really much choice for them.We ordered a cheese and tomato sandwich and wanted to order a portion of chips and cheese only to be told the kitchen was closed. It was 3.20pm and given the new bridge had just opened and it is the height of summer, surely the kitchen should have still been open.??The whole bill cost over the £31 and return we got cream teas which included rock hard scones which were very dry and clearly had been out for most of the day.Terrible value for money considering the visit to the castle cost over £40 for a family of 4.Luckily the castle was full for the day! Great place to visit for the view not for food.!!

I requested and checked a few times with the lady entering our order that I would not get rocket with my sandwich, as I cannot stand the stuff. The sandwich was delicious but guess what? Had loads of rocket on my plate which I had to pick out of the salad part. I ended up laughing it was so ridiculous. My parents ordered the pea soup which I requested to come with brown rolls. I double checked that too. Out comes a large scone each and soup so peppery it was inedible for my poor mum. She felt sick for the rest of the day. Fortunately, she received money back for her dish. How does a scone sounds like brown roll? Why would you automatically think of bringing those two items out together? Very odd. Not sure how you can go wrong with pea soup either but they did. Disappointing.

This cafe is in a beautiful, dramatic setting with a decent menu and reasonable prices. All good so far. However after waiting patiently for the first 35 minutes our party of 5 started to feel frustrated. At last 2 meals appeared-great! But then another 5 minutes passed and no sign of any more food. I went inside to enquire to find 2 members of staff standing around chatting whilst our waitress (the only member of staff who seemed to have anything about her) carried out one more meal. I naively thought the other staff might help our waitress but no, another few minutes passed before she reappeared with the last two dishes.

Visited on 18th August 2017. Got a table outside, then joined the queue outside the door. Could not work out why we just weren't moving. There was three people 'serving' and two girls clearing tables etc. After a very long wait, it appeared that the staff were certainly 'on Cornish time's. They would never cut it in Costa! They were just sooo slow - for no apparent reason. Finally ordered and settled in for another long wait for the food. We ended up going inside to try to find a table as it started to rain. Unfortunately, other people who had finished their food decided to help themselves to the free glass of water at the cutlery area, to keep their seats til the rain passed! The food was lovely, when it finally arrived - ale battered cod, chips and peas and tomato and basil soup with a sandwich.

Food and drink bought from staff with no manners and didn't say thank you.... Sat down and were made to feel most unwelcome with staff suggesting that a group take over their table.... My baby son was quiet until two dogs started barking at each other which made him slightly upset but certainly not crying loudly, my husband who usually has a thick skin left. We visited as a party of 6 adults and 5 children, four meals arrived (2 adults, 2 children) way before the rest. This would have been fine if it was all of the childrens food arriving early but it always creates problems if only some of the children's food arrives at once! The soup had to be sent back as it was as thin as dishwater. It eventually arrived for two other diners in our party much thicker and satisfactory. One item was missed off the order and so arrived after everyone had finished eating. A beautiful location and so much potential for this cafe but not a fulfilling dining experience!! Situated in a most lovely location, we entered the cafe which was deserted of staff at the serving hatch. After taking a seat, we had to endure a few minutes wait before one of us had to ask if anybody was serving. The assistant cleaning the tables had to call for somebody, who then appeared from the back. Despite this delay, the tea and cheese scones we had were really lovely and people could also access just water if they wanted. We did also notice however that people generally did have a fairly long wait to be served when the queue got longer.

This café (now called The Beach Café) is in a prime position at the bottom of Tintagel castle. It has a good menu and lots of space (inside and out). We ordered three sandwiches and one portion of fish cakes. After waiting for half an hour I asked if the food was coming. I was told it was nearly ready (but was offered no apology for the delay). The food finally arrived over 40 minutes after ordering, by which time the kids were tetchy and we were all starving. We received a brief and seemingly less-than-sincere "sorry for the wait". Very busy due to sudden down pour. Assistant wouldn't take our order of two coffees andca sandwich as we didn't have a table number. Hard to have one when there are no tables free!

A hot day at Tintagel Castle so stopped in afterwards for a rest. Ridiculous wait to be served, one person taking the orders and working the till, nowhere to sit down, and bottled beer at £4, no thanks very much, food looked pretty unappetising and very pricey so we didn't bother.

It's a nice little café with outdoor seating too, just what you'd expect really. Nothing fancy, but what they do offer is done well.

Good wholesome snacks and light meals with friendly staff. Some snacks are prepared to order so that at busy times there can be a wait, but then you get fresh food. There was sufficient seating at lunch as some were outside, but at tea, it was raining, reducing the seating, but also some people insisted blocking tables by walking past the serving area whilst another member of the party waited in the queue. This meant that when we had paid for our tea there was nowhere to sit until someone who had finished kindly gave us their seats. At the time at least four tables were being taken by people who had yet to buy their food. The café needs to think about how to solve this issue with selfish customers.

A good location with a range of indoor and out door seating. Prices are rather high but the scenes are amazing, Service is OK but check your bill, we were over charged on two items.

We called in here after three hours walking to have some late lunch as was three o'clock ,sadly after standing in queue for a while as only one person serving by the time I got to order was only just turned three o'clock and was told they stopped serving food after three would not even get me a sandwich. Had to end it with the worse scone since I came to Cornwell very dry and scale and over priced . Went to King Arthur's cafe were I had home made soup and panini no problem .

Good food well served and I suspect it will be busy at the height of summer. Our dog was allowed inside, always a good sign. Friendly staff and quality produce.

After a not so great start to our day in Tintagel, we were so pleased to find this cafe. We had fish and Chips and the portions were extremely generous. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Treated ourselves to a cream tea after the excursions of climbing to the castle. Lovely little cafe. Friendly welcome and the scones were amazing. We all had fruit scones and they were huge, and the cream...delicious! We did get there fairly early so I can't comment on the service when it's at peak times but we had no problems. The views are also fantastic! A great cafe!

We stopped here for a cream tea and were very disappointed. On the day we were there they must have run out of jam/ramekins as they only had small plastic individual portions (you know the ones you get in service stations and in cheap hotels?!). One of these covered about quarter of their big scones.Would suggest they keep well stocked in fresh good quality Jam. This could be cost neutral to them if they had slightly smaller (and less dry) scones! If they really really have to give plastic portions then I'd suggest 2-3 per cream tea...I mean how much do they cost to buy in bulk? Don't be cheap when you charge premium prices!

Had a hummus in pitta salad, and chips, at The Helston Grill last night, and my goodness, it was the best thing I've eaten in ages. Perfectly balanced, plentiful. The hummus was delicious, the pickled white cabbage the best I've ever eaten. Chips were hot, and really tasty. Thank you for a wonderful meal

It's a shame that such a lovely place is let down by some of the staff. We called in Saturday morning the girl at the bar was barely civil. However the young lady at the cafe part was lovely.

Great food, great choice of music and good cocktails. Particularly a fan of the Moonshine Cocktails, I had Pork Belly Roast and all was cooked to perfection. 5*

Despite using their own email contact form to book I had no reply. On checking the actual premises it would appear this establishment is closed despite their web site saying the opposite. There is a 'lease for sale' notice in the window . Sadly the demise of a good Newquay restaurant
