An amazing experience and one of the best meals I have ever had in England. The Chef/Owner was great and let me just say you need to go with his recommendations, he will not steer you wrong. The Clams Bulhão Pato & Prawn “Alhinho” to start were pure goodness and the Seafood Cataplana for two just blew my mind, make sure to order a side of fresh baked bread to soak up all the Cataplana goodness. The special hot peri-peri Ai Ai finish was mind blowing 🔥 . If you need to ask you aren’t ready for it! Will be returning every time I am in the area!

The Portuguese restaurant is a little, simple place with top-of-the-top food! Fresh seafood made with taste and love! Friendly and warm welcoming with exceptional care! They have been awarded as the top 10 in the country, which we discovered later. Last night we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary and 60's b/day in one and couldn't choose a better place to eat out. To be honest we found this little magical place by mistake. And we are so glad we found it. :-) Portions were huge, exactly like in the pictures, so we were so full that we couldn't try even dessert that was also homemade. We ordered the monster platter along with a swordfish dish and they did not disappoint. By far the best and freshest seafood I’ve had in a long time! The owner was a delight, very attentive and lovely to chat with.

Had the most wonderful meal here to celebrate a birthday. Excellent seafood freshly bought and cooked. Best I have had in some time. It has a family run feel with a simple down to earth venue. Though it has a somewhat humble exterior it really is fantastic food. Recommended it highly.

Came for a date with my husband, nice a quiet so we were able to chat without too much noise. The chef / owner was so lovely and so was the waitress.

Was treated by my daughter and her boyfriend on a Sunday evening. Simply superb seafood, on a par with anything I've had before, if not better Had oysters to start and then the Deluxe seafood platter (perfect for 3) The food was so fresh and tasted wonderful, the dips smashing The house red was a great Rioja and the waitress and the owner could not do enough for us. Wonderful service all round. Had a long chat with the owner during and after the meal and he gave a history of the restaurant and the sourcing of all his fish and Seafood, very interesting. I would recommend you Book before hand. Can't recommend this place enough

We came across this place by accident. We were actually on our way to a different place. As soon as we entered we were greeted by friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing, we both had swordfish and it was so succulent and tasty. This is definitely one of our favourites we have eaten at for a while and would highly recommend if you are wanting something different. We will definitely go back. Thank you

We came in for a meal tonight (we hadn't booked but the restaurant was good enough to fit us in). There was a long wait for the food but we didn't mind and weren't in a rush. When the food did come out surf and turf skewers we tucked in. The chips were beautiful (pre salted) but I like them that way. My youngest son said they were the best chips he'd ever had. My wife had asked for the steak medium but it came out well done. The chef explained that his medium steaks have no pink in them or something which made me laugh 😂 Like we don't know how a medium steak should look. The chef and waitress are friendly and welcoming and I truly believe they do their best. I enjoyed my food and so did my wife. My son had Spaghetti Bolognese but couldn't eat it. It's the chef's own variation containing other ingredients such as chorizo and carrots. Constructive feedback: finger bowls for dishes when you have to peel prawns would be good. Overall, friendly service but the food wasn't to everyone's liking. Perhaps it would have been better if we had pre booked and I recommend you do so. I was happy with my food but my 3 stars reflect the overall opinion of the party of four.

Absolutely amazing staff and atmosphere was fantastic the food was gorgeous and so fresh best meal I have had in a long time the owner was making sure we were all okay and if everything g with our food was okay they were attentive and it was just superb would go back again

We shared a Turf and Surf for my husband’s birthday and were not disappointed. Excellent quality meats and ingredients and we couldn’t believe the portion size. We were also pleasantly surprised to find the meal came with a litre of free wine! With my husband driving, I took one for the team. We also shared some starters which were all great - especially the prawns. That sauce was divine! Really think this restaurant deserves all the bookings as we cannot stop raving about it to our friends and family. My husband still says it’s the best steak he’s ever had. We travelled from Lincoln and would do so again in a heartbeat. :)

Fantastic seafood platter. Nothing else like this in the East Midlands. It's a lot of money but you won't regret it for a special occasion. Welcoming, passionate and enthusastic owner/chef made for a great evening

Really enjoyed our birthday lunch. Absolutely fabulous seafood platter. Quality and freshness was superb. We had the seafood sharing platter and there was more than enough food for two. Excellent service, very attentive and friendly. Will definitely go again. Would recommend.

What an odd night! I received a phone call at 18.10 asking where our party was… as we were late.. when I explained we were booked for 19.00 he realised he had misread the clock! When we arrived at the restaurant at 19.00 we were informed there was a staff shortage, as we had pre ordered our meals we didn’t think it would be too big a problem… there were 5 of us in our party and at that point we were the only ones in to eat. Our drink order was taken and we relaxed… another party of 2 came in, sat and ordered. Our starters came out and we were all ok… then things went downhill! Our mains came out one at a time so the first had finished before the last was served… everything, and I mean everything was over cooked and dry and quite what one person was given as a ribeye steak I’m not sure, but it wasn’t a ribeye!! Not as I know it anyway! One dish had had a component changed as they had run out of the ingredient and it wasn’t good… bearing in mind, these were pre ordered meals! Then…. The other party who were still waiting for their food were told he couldn’t cook for them as he had burnt their dish…so they left! I’m not sure what exactly was going on that night, but at approx £35/£40 per head it was a very disappointing evening, luckily the company was good at the table.

Excellent homely restaurant. The seafood was perfect as was the chicken. No complaints on the food from anyone. Cataplana, razor clams, calamari, swordfish, salt cod cakes, chicken wings etc. Yes it comes out in dribs and drabs, but that is explained by the fact it is 1 person in a little kitchen, it is very Mediterranean and the atmosphere and staff are great. All food us cooked fresh. We preordered over the telephone to ensure we had what we wanted. The homemade crisps on the cataplana were tasty and we ordered bread to mop up the juices. It is a slow paced meal and you aren't rushed out the door after an hour or so.

These people definitely know how to cook delicious seafood.

Absolute gem! Me and my mum went for dinner tonight and had the monster seafood platter, it was delicious! We also had prawn cuttlefish and oysters to start. Flávio was a wonderful host! You could tell absolutely everything was fresh, just perfect. Will definitely be back for our seafood fix!!

We went last night for the first time and it certainly won't be the last. The quality of the food is excellent and the staff are very polite and attentive without being overbearing. We had Sardine fillet to start and followed that with the Special Seafood Cataplana. Both courses were of a very high quality, particularly the broth in the main. We are already looking forward to going back and trying some more of the menu

Amazing family run restaurant. The owner could not do enough for us!!! The freshest and tastiest sea food ever!!!! This guy really does go out of his way to make you feel at home. The food is above 10 so fresh and tasty really enjoyed our fresh oysters and sea food platter! Lobster , clams, crab, mussels and prawns all came with different tastes really really enjoyed it can’t wait to go back xxxx

We joined our friends already seated at the table, totally ignored by the staff. Our coats were wet as it was raining. Approaching staff behind the small bar and asking where we could hang our wet clothes, we were told they had nowhere available in the restaurant and that we would have to keep them with us. Not ideal at all as there was nowhere in this tiny space to put them. We rolled the damp coats up and put them on the narrow windowsill where they kept falling off onto the floor. The waitress seemed under trained. We ordered starters and 2 Cataplaners one with lobster. Starters were underwhelming, tough chicken wings and fish cakes heavy with mashed potato and rather dry, we asked for some mayo to liven them up. Looking forward to our traditional cataplana we were astonished to find that the recipe had been altered by the chef to the extent that we were served soup with deep fried potato crisps and over cooked sea food ! The waitress was informed and the chef came to the table to explain, many, many times that he had no idea how the fish was over cooked because he only cooked it till the prawns went pink. As an ex chef myself, I usually find that if something is over cooked, it’s because it’s been left on the heat for too long. All the once beautiful fish was over cooked, lobster like rubber, mussels turned to string inside the shell, prawns hard. We picked what we could and left the rest. It was a disaster. And how people are supposed to eat soup from a plate I do not know. I suggested they give people a bowl. The chef thought that was a good idea! It was also suggested that the National dish be served in the traditional way and not with the edition of greasy potato crisps added to the soup. And perhaps some bread would be more appropriate to serve along side( not in the dish chef)? The chef told us he had changed the recipe 3 time to suit the local Grantham taste and that crisps had been added to reflect this. Our party suggested that he should stick with a traditional Portuguese recipe in a Portuguese restaurant as obviously something was wrong because there were only 2 other people in the restaurant on a Saturday night in high season. If some of the locals don’t like proper Portuguese food, there are other places to eat in Grantham. We asked for the service charge to be removed from the £240 + bill. No discount was offered for the half eaten overcooked food and soggy crisps that went back to the kitchen.

Surf and turf cooked to perfection, served with traditional chips that tasted like what I used to have in my childhood. Also had the Octopus dish, which was rather delicious with its sticky sauce. The really nice food presentation and a thoughtfully decorated setting made the whole experience really enjoyable, kudos to the team!

Ate here today. Our daughter and son-in-law have told us about it before. The seafood is unquestionably the freshest and best I've ever eaten inland in the UK and ranks in my top 10 of all the various places I've eaten seafood around the world. Fantastic atmosphere and attention to serving quality sea dishes.

2nd time we’ve been. Friendly family run little restaurant. Amazing food. Freshly cooked to order so obviously there was a wait, but it was well worth it. We left feeling well fed. It was superb and we will be back. Thank you everyone

This is a remarkably tasty fish restaurant from an enthusiastic owner who makes great dishes and dishes. And his olives are so marinated that I have never eaten them better than here. We had a dish for two and left out the coriander. But the man balances taste so well that I should have left it as he intended. Recommended and reasonably priced for the quality you get here. And the coffee is also delicious! And that is special in this country.

Visited Tinel restaurant last night for the first time. It was my Wife's birthday so was looking for something different and we hit the jackpot. The food here was unbelievable, don't think I have had anything this tasty for a while. I had the Swordfish and Prawn skewer and when it arrived I thought I can't eat all that. It really did taste as good as it looked, food did beat man on this occasion as well. A neat little place that was clean and very friendly. The head chef even came and chatted to us which made it even more special. There is a saying...you get what you pay for and this place is worth every penny.

Took the wife and daughters there. Wasn't sure what to expect but heard good things about the place. Tried seafood course for a change and was pleasantly surprised. Food was amazing, service was brilliant as were the prices. Atmosphere was really good and it felt like we were eating in a restaurant by the sea. Thoroughly recommend it and will definitely be going back.

Had oysters & then seafood platter, which was in a massive serving dish with a sauce/broth. Very different but tasted fantastic. Great wine too.

Lovely restaurant with an equally lovely staff. Freshest of the fresh seafood, scallops, and prawns. Perfect chorizo starter served traditionally on fire with beautiful fresh Portuguese bread. They make you feel like family and the food is made with love. It is refreshing to see in Grantham people who actually care about what they serve. Recommended for those who crave for something different than the sad, pre-frozen, pre-made food at the pubs.

Surprising and amazing. Real, fresh seafood in the middle of Grantham. Don't be fooled by the modest exterior and decor, the food here is is good as anything I've eaten in Portugal. The service is super friendly, and the food is bursting with flavour. Booking recommended on a weekend, as the main restaurant is rather small, and the terrace gets quite chilly in the evening.

I had to review this after my experience tonight because it was shocking. The lobster isn’t prepared fresh. It’s frozen lobster. The water oozes out from the fingers/claws when cracked and it had a straw like taste like it had been frozen a while. The most shocking part was despite ordering a whole lobster for £40, the fleshier part of the lobster on both halves had been stripped off and I was only given the tail end which has very little flesh. The striped off part was then replaced with some gooey greenish stuff. Honestly I was disappointed and displeased by the experience and the thought of being cheated out of the whole lobster. I guess that explained why the restaurant was empty on a Friday night. I won’t be back here

It's becoming really hard to find good seafood in England, and the dishes we ordered were the chonkiest prawns I've seen in a long long time. Everything was great, the host was incredibly knowledgeable and even more so passionate about his food which added to the atmosphere. Cannot recommend this place enough and we will definitely be back at some point.
