Rang up on the day and asked if I could order afternoon tea for 2 as a take away. Staff were so accommodating. Sandwiches were freshly made and nothing was too much trouble. Everything was ready within a couple of hours. Would definitely go there again.

Entered the cafe and made our order, while waiting local people came in who owners knew and ordered full breakfast, was weird how they got their breakfast first when all we ordered was a toasted tea cake. Staff said this was because they was using toaster for toast on full breakfast. Over 30 minutes since we sat down did we get our ordered, I asked for extra butter and was treated like I was asking to much. As we left we got a goodbye which was full off sarcasm. Rude staff and not at all welcoming. Never again

Ordered sausage and egg x 2. My portion with beans was fine but other portion with garden peas, peas were cold, barely defrosted and sausages were lukewarm. Took them back. Didn't really have time for them to be cooked again but owner said he'd 'think of something'. Plate was returned, clearly microwaved as chips were streaming and eggs congealed. Sausage was still lukewarm and only one was returned, not two. Dinner couldn't be eaten. No refund was offered and owner denied using the microwave. Will not be going back.

I visited here with my mum for a mid-week lunch. Neither of us had been before. There is no dedicated parking but it is on the main drag through the town and we walked from a pay and display car park in less than five minutes. We have never been to Melton Mowbray before so didn't know where to go. We saw a sign for here and the menu looked nice so we decided to try it. The cafe is in a little covered arcade. You can sit inside or 'outside' which is in the covered arcade but outside of the cafe itself. We decided to do that as it was a lovely day. The cafe doesn't do table service so you order and pay at the till before eating. I ordered the ham salad and my mu ordered the Ploughman's with a coffee and walnut cake for after. She ordered a milky coffee and I ordered a tap water. The cafe doesn't look like much from the outside but we were very surprised at how lovely it was. They appear to have a lot of regulars and the waitress knew most people who came, chatting to them all. The food is very reasonably priced. Although I 'only' had a ham salad, it all tasted lovely and the ham was decent quality. My mum said her Ploughman's was very nice, with the only complaint being that the edges of the bread roll were quite stale and she had to leave a little but as it was rock hard. She said the cake was delicious. The cafe does have toilets but you need to get a key for these and go up a couple of flights of stairs to access them. It's better than them having NO toilet, but we were shattered by the time we reached them! I'm also not sure what was wrong in the toilets, but there was a VERY strong smell of ammonia / gas / chemicals as soon as you opened the door. You couldn't smell a thing from directly outside the door but on entry, it was overpowering. To the point we thought there might be a chemical leak or something! We would happily return here should we visit Melton Mowbray again. It was good value food, friendly service and a great price point.

Nipped in for breakfast during a trip to Melton and were pleased to find that the environment was clean and welcoming and everything was cooked fresh to order. The owner took time to engage in conversation with us which was a welcome change to the many places that aren’t so friendly and purely business orientated. Food quality was really nice and we can’t fault it at all.

My partner and I decided to pop in for a breakfast whilst in Melton Mowbray and the cafe looked inviting so we thought we would try there. My partner ordered a bacon butty and I asked if they did any vegetarian options. I was told unfortunately not and that I could have egg on toast if I wanted. As I am unable to eat bread I declined and asked whether they had any hash browns as an alternative, they said they didn’t do hash browns. This left me quite disappointed, particularly as there was no dietary options available for any individual to be catered for. I had just a latte and my partner proceeded to have the bacon butty. When it arrived it was very disappointing. 2 bits of thin and pale bacon on some thin brown bread. Although paying over the odds is not a concern when dining out, for the price we expected the quality to be better. We will not be returning unfortunately.

We decided to have a trip to Melton Mowbray today and after an enjoyable look around the sheep & cattlemarket, together with the local market (held on a Tues) we found Time Out. We had 2 pots of lovely tea served in a teapot with china cups & saucers. The owners are very friendly and were interested to talk to us. Everything is homemade & fresh with generous portions. Bereft of speech until we had 'disappeared' everything. The home-made smoked salmon was sold out so I had prawns/mayo/routine combo and it so wasn't routine! My partner had same experience with the pedestrian egg-mayo - and it so wasn't! We also took a side 'tester' of Pork Pie (we're in Melton Mowbray, right?) with home made chutney/salad. I travel often, world wide, my partner doesn't. We came to an unparalleled agreement that this was the best light lunchtime meal we had experienced for several years. We said as much to the Main Man/Owner/Cook. He was so damn delighted it made our day. 'Cos he wasn't delighted just to take the money, he peered, poked and prodded into to the why we liked, what we liked, etc etc etc. This man is well bothered about what he creates. And rightly so. It's Absolutely Ace.

Tucked away in the Bell centre but really handy for lunch while shopping in Melton. It's a small cafe and, with only 2 staff, there may be a bit of a wait but it's not too bad. I've certainly waited much longer in the larger chain cafes and pubs. The food is all freshly prepared and it tasted fresh and good quality. Outside there are tables and the centre is covered so it's great for dog owners even when it's raining. I thought it was very good value (I liked the tea served in a teapot with China cups, nice touch)

Considering this place was less than half full, 15 people, taking around 30 minutes to serve food is poor. The Melton Mowbray Experience was good, and good value at £4.99, the sandwich on 'local granary bread' failed, as they had run out of 'local granary bread' and thought they might serve from a sliced wholemeal loaf without us noticing!!! Really not any more than average, but could be good!!

A nice little cafe with a good location in the little arcade. Nice, friendly and helpful staff and the food is good. What lets it down a bit is a very limited menu and the slightly expensive price. Do not go here if you like lots of options, they only have very few choices for both food and drink. This little cafe may get missed as it is in a little shopping mall that does not have a lot to it's name..sadly shops have closed like so many other places. But please do search it out and give it a try. The service is so friendly and efficient and the prices reasonable. I will return on my next visit to Melton!
