Kettleby Cross in Melton

Ordered 4 meals for our table only 3 came. I had ham and eggs the eggs were cold. 4th meal turned up after we had finished.

Good food that was served very quickly and was reasonably priced. It was very busy on a Saturday afternoon which is a good sign.

Nice and quiet lunch time drink. Polite service. Nice cold pint.

Cheap drinks prices and fast service. Food is very hit and miss and clearly done to a low price but I guess that's why people go to Spoons.

New Manager needs to attend to basic needs of stock. Unlimited hot drinks,public tell him there no tea bags and milk nearly gone. Response, I'm going home in hour is not the response we want to hear. And cold beans on breakfast most of the time. Been in again Fri 21st no chips or eggs available tonight ran out ,Manager stock rotation is disgraceful.

Food had better had to go and ask where our meals were. As we had 5 meals and only got 3 of them

OMG no eggs so had to review what we could eat. Only alternative was gash browns so why would I want 5 hash browns on a breakfast. No additional bacon or sausage Ridiculous Luke warm coffee again Beans cold again

Dirty tables full of plates and glasses. We and others cleaned our own, Management couldn't care less but main problem is not enough staff. Food not too bad but portions have shrunk. Come on Spoons get it back to how it was

Cheap and cheerful, friendly pub with an excellent range of food and drink, and lovely glamorous loos for the ladies. 0.0% alcohol Guiness classed as a soft drink so I'm a happy bunny!

It's a Spoons. Visited on a Tuesday. Always busy in Melton on a Tuesday due to the cattle market. It was busy but service was quick and food was hot and tasty.

Reasonable food choices, very good drink choices and prices. Efficient service but tired flooring, decor and furniture. May 2024.Much better now after flooring and furniture cleaned.

Didn't order food but had drinks. Good service spoons as very quickly table was cleared. Staff were friendly and smiley compared to some others I've been to where they just grunt at you. Very affordable as two refillable drinks under £4 and opposite accessible parking area.

Arrived just after 11am so it wasn’t too busy compared to usual. Waited 30 mins for our breakfast. The server did apologise for the delay but the food was cold like it was sat out for ages. Won’t be returning

Sometimes there are good ales. Other times there aren't Sometimes the premium steak is OK. Other times it is not. A variable experience.

The wetherspoon app was down again so I ordered no food

Great we have, a spoons in Melton although service is slow at time generally it's, good however the pub is cold sat here right now it's like the Baltic sat in here and the toilets are freezing

The drinks are at great cheap prices. It was taking a little while to be served the drinks as the bar tenders are still in training. The food is OK and not too pricey. Our food orders for 4 people were 2 x all-day brunch, which were fine. And 2 steaks with salads. My steak was ok. However, the other steak was really tough and had to be sent back. This was not a problem to the staff. It was not ideal as we all had finished eating.

Bang smack in the middle of Melton Mowbray on the main road opposite the taxi rank. Usual suspects for a spoons ...set on various levels with eclectic seating. No cctv in the upstairs gents toilets & quite busy, hence the delay when ordering drinks by app. Didn't eat, so I cannot comment on the food.

Bad,poor, slow service . Meals are smaller costing more. If u must visit only have refillable coffee

Was very good. Now gets very very crowded at the weekends, probably due to all the new homes being built in the town. Tables are usually sticky and full of uncollected glasses and food plates.

It's an OK pub. Tables not always clean and quite often sticky. Food OK but not great.

We often visit this weatherspoons, we just had a drink this visit but we've always had great meals. They do tend to over cook the bacon though.

Good, fast service. Staff friendly and helpful. I was surprised to find we could have a cup of tea or coffee with the meal. Very nice as I would be driving afterwards.

Had an unfortunate untimed fit at Melton Wetherspoons today.....Staff and the other lady off duty at the time were amazing ❤

Paid parking around the back killed it for me. Less than 15 minutes over at a pay and display and stuck with a £100 fine from nearly 4 months ago. Although I do appreciate I stayed a little over what I paid for, outsourcing your parking to a moral-less scum-run parking agency to solve a ‘parking problem’ is a sure fire way to make sure people don’t return. Actively going to recommend people not to use this site & other Wetherspoons. PS - They all HATE dogs

Good value food and drink in a convivial atmosphere

20mins to get food and then cold. Work men swearing and dirtying chairs. No acknowledgement from staff. Drinks machine dirty and surrounding area

Had the mixed grill was very nice great portions nice presentation. Would definitely recommend.

On arriving I had to ask for a cloth to wipe the table down .I was shocked to be given the cloth and spray to do it myself at which point another customer ask me for the cloth to wipe there table down.The place isn’t busy but yet there are 5 tables near me that need clearing of plates and glasses.Staff behind the bar could easily do this .Not a pleasant experience.

Just popped in for hot chocolate. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Really disappointed today. Had usual of avocado muffin topped with a poached egg. It looked totally different to when I've had this at the Ashby and Coalville spoons. The avocado was thinly spread on the muffin, not in chunks. It was stone cold. The egg looked more hard boiled than poached and lukewarm. The restaurant was quiet so no excuse. Surely the menu is standardised and it should be the same in every branch?

Staff so unhappy, breakfasts sit so long on the hot plate, a miracle that ours was actually ok. The male member of staff on the floor was so unhappy, why bother even being at work. Not enough staff and another chaotic day at spoons. Find was actually warm and good value

Of all the wetherspons I've been to this one is by far the best.

We ordered 3 medium rare steaks 1 fish and chips . The steaks came back well done tough as shoes leather. Fish and chips perfect. I laughed as I always go for fish and chips. Although the steaks were bad we sat out side and had a good night anyway. But those steaks were still the talk in the morning during our breakfast. Staff are quick and friendly.

What more can be said, cheap drink loads of space inside and out seating

Disgusting! Service at bar was appalling, blond haired young lady could not have been more disinterested. We had never tried steak night before and will never again. Service was quick but jack Daniel’s Tennessee sauce included in my gourmet steak option was missing, when queried they brought me a bit of bbq sauce 🤦🏻‍♀️, chips under cooked and yes it seems like a good deal, but not if it’s not actually edible.

Always a winner a weatherspoon. Very busy on a Thursday night. Lots of choice for food and drink; excellent value for money and did not have to wait long. Seating all on ground floor. Toilets are located upstairs and along corridor. Not sure about facilites for less mobile visitors. Great service from staff.

Popped in for a quick pint before staying in the Premier Inn (no bar) had a great pint of Green King IPA for £1:79, great value. Decided I'd pop in for breakfast the next day and wasn't disappointed. Had the large full English with Blackpudding and a coffee. Good breakfast and excellent staff. Would recommend.

Really disapointing visit. Food was cold, 1 small mushroom, bacon under cooked. Also the breakfast discription a bit misleading. The large breakfast says bacon, 2 sausages, 3 hash browns so I assumed it was only 1 bacon so I ordered another rasher but it came with 2 so got 3 undercooked rashers 😏. Coffee is also just luke warm.

Cold plates which made the beans and bacon cold. The meal was cold sitting in a cold plate. Complained accepted a replacement but came out with burnt blackened bacon. If they served on warm plates this would not have happened.

The Kettleby Cross is one of the best pubs in Melton Mowbray. The English breakfast and caffe mocha have met my expectations. The service is on a high level, and the staff is very friendly and professional. The atmosphere was very relaxing and enjoyable. There is also a huge selection of draught and normal beers and ales. Highly recommended pub!

Does what it says on the tin. A great pub, easy, no step access. Staff need to keep an eye on lower end of bar. The bar is too high for wheelchair users. Good food, reasonable priced drinks

Nice pub usual good food and beer but my wife said the ladies toilet was terrible, smelt like a sewer.

My wife and I were passing through the area and stopped off at the Kettleby Cross for dinner on route to East Midlands Airport. There was ample free parking in the council car park opposite (it's free after 6pm) and quite a few people were sitting outside enjoying food and drinks as it was a warm day. We ate inside and used the Wetherspoons App to order drinks and food. The service during our visit was friendly and efficient and the food was very good. I enjoyed a spicy chicken pizza with an ale, and my wife had the BBQ chicken melt with Jacket Potato and a soft drink, and we shared a dessert, which was very nice. The toilet facilities were large and located upstairs (as is often the case with 'Spoons pubs). Overall we had a pleasant meal and stop here on our journey.

Decent sized modern "Spoons" pub plenty of staff and ample seating on busy Saturday lunchtime. Food served in quick time and good value too.

Discriminates against disabled people. No space for them, and when we moved a table, leaving plenty of space for people to pass by, we were informed it wasn't good enough. We were frequent customers, but sadly no longer. Disgusting "service"

Awful breakfast. I know it's inexpensive....bit it was awful, cheap ingredients.

This establishment was absolutely packed late on a wet Sunday morning, which meant a long wait to be served at the bar (there was no mobile phone signal for my mobile network so I couldn't use the app). We only ordered toast to eat, and it was OK. There was only one coffee machine working though, which meant I had to queue 10 minutes or so because of the number of people in front of me, some filling 2 or even 3 cups for their dining companions, and I couldn't face queuing again for a free refill. Even if both coffee machines had been working, I suspect only two would not be adequate in busy times.

Well worth a visit, this spoons in Melton, the colourful stars lve put in ,says it all.

Called in here today for lunch. Staying at Eye Kettleby Lakes. Easy to park as Car Park opposite - £2.30p for 2 hours, cheaper than Lincoln. Busy but got served quickly. Two scampi combo, one large bowl of chips, large Chardonnay and pint of Doombar, just over £20. Wetherspoons always reasonably priced. The usual 5⭐️ hygiene rating - never had a dirty glass at any of the Wetherspoons we have visited and, on our travels, there have been many😊. Furnishings rather tired.

Cold toast, cold mushroom under cooked bacon, cold beans, luke warm hash brown. How difficult can it be to provide 2 hot breakfasts and it took 30 minutes to get to the table

The Kettleby Cross in Melton Mowbray was once a stone cross, probably noting a boundary that once stood in the town. Long since gone, a Wetherspoons pub now sits in its place. The pub doesn’t have quite the same historical feel as a centuries old stone marker, but has a place nonetheless. Once destroyed by fire, the pub was refurbished quickly and has served breakfasts, beer and a burger meals, a selection of beers and wines and affordable curries ever since. We had lunch on a weekday in The Cross and enjoyed the meal. As ever, you know what you’re getting in a Wetherspoons and in that respect The Kettleby Cross is no different. The staff in The Cross doe seem more than happy to make sure that The Cross matches Melton Mowbray’s exacting standards and the pub does have a well looked after feel. Our chicken curries nicely hit the spot and we left the pub rested and gorged. We then turned into tourists, bought the nearest pork pie and made our way home…

Like all weatherspoons, brilliant quick service and good food..cannot fault.

Just nipped in for a pint and a coffee after visiting the popular Melton Mowbray market. The pub was very busy but I didn't have to wait long to be served due to enough friendly efficient staff on duty. Lovely pub , good value food and drink, there is a pay and display car park directly opposite.

Had the big breakfast mine was hot on receiving, staff friendly, my partner had small breakfast said not very warm she did tell staff member after eating 🙄 they did apologise, no complaints from me 👍

Called in for a breakfast, fast service but all sites of this chain can’t seem to keep food hot. I know it’s not cooked to order but hot plates or lights over food are common nowadays. A part from that it’s a good pub, they all have a great choice of beers at good prices. The Cross is on a main road but the is a public car park across the street (can get busy at peak times)..

We had the full English breakfast, appalling! Bacon was cremated, as was fried egg, Hash browns were so drenched with burnt on unchanged cooking oil and beans were burnt. The whole breakfast was a waist of money !! I adressed the manager he didn't seem remotely bothered what so ever !!!!!
