Spotted this cafe on my travel back from Pembrokeshire when i passed through kidwelly. The cafe its self is a quaint place easily spotted on the main road, as i entered i was seated by friendly young staff member with menus. The prices even in this day and age seemed extreme but thought id give the benefit of the doubt that the food would be worth the cost, order a latte, a Jacket with beans and cheese then a scone, the food was mediocre and all store bought so i don’t know why the charge so high, but unfortunately i had the dishonour of meeting the owner, She has a cold demeanour about her and saw her berating a staff member quite harshly then overheard her bad mouthing that same member of staff to another while i was in the bathroom, I understand telling off a staff member but to then go to another member of staff is horrid! I payed and left in a hurry after tipping the youngster, i don't mind paying a fair amount to small businesses but do better in treating your staff, they are the only reason you are still open! with her demenour she wouldnt last without those employees who made the stop worth it! Do Better!

Me and my partner called here for a coffee about 3.00 in the Afternoon. It was St Davids day. Nobody else in at that time. The owner asked what we wanted, and we said 2 coffees. She then asked if weed like a cake. There was a glass cabinet full of different types, so we thought, ok, we will have a scone each, without jam and cream, just to keep the cost down. There was a price of, £3.00 each for the americano's, but no price on the cakes. When the bill came, it was £12.60. I have to say we were both a bit shocked, as the scones were very small, and looked like they had come out of a pack. Anyway, a nice little cosy cafe, but we won't be returning, as we felt the price was extortionate.

Went out for a breakfast with my partner today, We both decided on The scrambled egg with salmon for myself and a Large welsh Breakfast. It was an amazing meal the chef must know what she is doing and the two young waitresses were well mannered and polite and were quick to get us some extra drinks! The prices were affordable and we left with a full belly and happy about the pleasant experience

6 of us popped in for a quick coffee but when everyone saw the menu they couldn’t resist ordering food too We were served by a lovely young man, he got our orders quickly and served our drinks swiftly There was a delay for the food to arrive but quite understandable as there is a notice saying they were understaffed so there would be a delay. ( so obviously not their fault, we should help these businesses that are struggling for staff at the moment and not condemn them for it) The quality of the food was great and freshly made Will definitely call in again if in Kidwelly

I visited whilst on holiday at Parkdean Carmarthen Bay. I ordered a slice of the lovely looking coffee and walnut cake in the cabinet, but when it came to table they’d coveted it in caramel sauce (which I hadn’t asked for).. when I told the owner i didn’t like sauce, she just smiled and said ‘oh’… then when she saw my son take a mouthful of it, she said well he likes it! A simple replacement slice was all that was needed to keep a customer happy… but she wasn’t bothered about a disappointed customer

Went as family for lunch, pee booked table. Was really looking forward to trying this new venue, hadn't been before. Ordered our meals, 1 x steak, didn't look appetising. 1 x jacket potato with chicken tikka masala. Potato was cooked but whole meal was cold. Quiche n side salad, quiche was layered with a burnt black skin on top and pastry surrounding was burnt black also. Customer didn't eat it for obvious reasons but as was family meal didn't like to complain n make a fuss. Why would the kitchen even send a plate of burnt food out to start with. Not the only one, a customer came in after and was served the same. Really!!! We decided to do without dessert, pay n leave. Disappointed.

Called in while waiting for the castle to open so thought we’d have a light lunch . Ordered two toasties & two drinks . I thought £1.75 was overpriced for a can of Diet Coke . Toasties were hot & tasty but the accompanying crisps were damp & tasted out of date & the salad came with a dressing already on it - give me the option to add anything if I had wanted it. I had a delicious carrot cake after this & my partner had a blueberry lemon cake which was tasty but to add cream you have to add another £1.65 !

We visited today having cycled from Llanelli on a very hot day. We had reserved a table in the garden and it was lovely and cool and shaded from the sun. 3 of us had the Mediterranean chicken with rice and veg and the other person had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on toast. All was very tasty, the chicken just melted in the mouth, portions were generous and we left fuelled up for the cycle ride home. We always make a beeline for this cafe when we are in the area on holiday. The staff are super helpful and friendly, the toilet is spotless and we feel covid safe whilst there.

We were in Kidwelly yesterday to see the castle, wet and windy day. Looking for a cup of tea before out drive home and saw a sign outside this little shop front. Really wasn't expecting much, greasy spoon sort of place. Inside was I admit a little weird with all the Covid stuff and didn't hugely change my expectations. After that though, wow. Surprising range of food, a full GF and drinks menu and lots specials. The food was outstanding and so far as I could tell freshly prepared. I had the Glamorgan sausage, rice and egg which I ordered just to see what on Earth I would get. I was expecting a couple of cheap veggie sausages, some micro rice and an egg. What I got was a wonderfully presented taste sensation.I did find the price was slightly high for what is in effect a cafe, but the food was far beyond what you would expect in a cafe.Sadly I live nowhere near Kidwelly :(

Service was friendly and the food was well presented, although the quality wasn't great and the food tasted cheap. The cafe itself is small and a bit cramped. The main issue is that when it was time to pay the bill, they refused to discount it in line with the government scheme, despite being registered and having notices up around the cafe. Not sure whether this is a scam, but it certainly left a bad taste in the mouth.

Had a very friendly welcome at lunchtime, we sat in the pretty courtyard at the back and ordered between us, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, full breakfast, faggotts and mushy peas and panini and salad. All the food was tasty, well presented with generous portions. This was the first time our friends had eaten out since the lock down but we all felt safe and well looked after. We look forward to visiting again in September and this time perhaps sitting indoors. We can heartily recommend.

This tea house is the only one in the village and perhaps this is the reason why on my last visit I was refused wifi by the owner because I wasn’t buying any hot food! On the two previous occasions staff had provided the password to the wifi. My thoughts were that many visitors calling into Kidwelly would just be passing through and enjoy what was on offer but being refused wifi would be off putting. Wifi is of course not the be all and end all but when you are in the road it does become important.

Popped in for lunch as it was freezing outside and we needed something to warm us up. They accepted dogs so in we went and found a nice table at the rear away from other customers so our dog wouldn't be a problem. Our order was taken and the drinks arrived together with a home baked dog biscuit, what a lovely touch! We finished our drinks and watched as the two very busy waitresses went back and forth to the kitchen with plates of food, making us feel ever more hungry. We started to wonder where our food was but could see the waitresses were busy so we waited a bit more. Then I decided to ask one waitress, as she hurried past, where our food was. She replied that they were very busy with a table of 13. We waited a little longer but then my partner decided he had waited long enough so we paid for our drinks and left. If it had been explained to us when we ordered that there was likely to be a long wait we could have wandered around a little longer and come back later but we were annoyed that nothing was said and we did wait for over 30 mins for a toasted sandwich and a breakfast.

Lovely lunch time stop after a 5.7 mile walk from Burry Port. Our Nordic Walking group were made very welcome and the food was great and served quickly. All the food is home made including all the lovely cakes. Will definitely be going back when next in Kidwelly.

I was still starving after ordering a so called cheese and ham toastie the size of a saucer. It entailed 2 slices of the thinnest white processed bread with one single wafer thin nastiest tiniest piece of plastic processed ham, I don't think it contained ham actually. Yuk yuk and triple yuk. The tea was tasteless too, they use the cheapest nastiest tea bags imaginable. They will never see my money again. Between the toastie being almost £4 and the mingey slice of cake about £2.25 I would expect to feel I had eaten. I am not even a greedy person. It's a shame as some of the cakes are pleasant but the lemon meringue was horrid, I didn't realise it would taste of burned ginger. Don't be so bloody tight and with the quality and quantity of your toasties. I would not say so much if I had paid £1

It is the only complaint that i have with this small cafe - but it is a big one. They have made a decision to attract those customers who have to take their dogs everywhere, and will inevitably lose custom to those who do not appreciate other people's pets around them, especially when food is involved and/or they have an allergy to pet hair. While i was quietly having food there, a lady came in with a large dog just to talk to someone who was sitting there. Far worse though, a couple and their dog came in and sat on the adjoining table. Whilst they read their papers, the dog feretted around under my table and around my legs. They didn't even notice until it stood back and gave itself a good shake right in front of me (and my food). I left and would not think of returning until i see a sign saying "Guide dogs only".

Popped in here for lunch after a visit to the castle. Very welcoming and friendly, efficient and good food. It was great that they allow dogs in and I was pleasantly surprised by the bill at the end. Would definitely visit again!

You sometimes find a little gem of a place that's worth travelling miles to visit. Kidwelly is just such a place, but one of the diamonds in its crown has to be Time for Tea. It doesn't look much from the outside....just another main street cafe in another small town main street.......but the quality of the food and warmth of the welcome, for you and your dog, make it a must for anyone who loves good honest cooking. Nothing from a packet, nothing cooked in a bag, nothing mass produced and everything freshly prepared. Well tasty!

A lovely friendly place to pop in for a quick drink or a full meal. Food has improved recently so will visit more often. Fresh food made to order, desserts handmade from scratch by the owner i believe. Lovely garden area to the rear if you wish to sit outside on a nice warm day.

We called into this cafe for a pot of tea, and some cakes, which we found out were home made,so much nicer than factory cakes! There is a separate section of the cafe with a very large tapestry picture on the wall of cats, very well done by all the local ladies and the owner.Good to visit after a trip around KIdwelly Castle or The Industrial Museum nearby,or both.

Fabulous cream tea, the sandwiches were beautifully fresh, the bara brith, welshcakes and scones are warm and delicious and came with butter and loads of jam and fresh thick dairy cream. There were even strawberries and little macaroons . I thoroughly recommend you go and try it out yourself. We scoffed the lot.

We popped in for a cuppa and scone. Nice cup of tea. Sad dry scone. Seemed pricey? Perhaps interest was on the low side towards the end of the day? YMMV

We called in when out cycling and enjoyed a very good coffee and bacon bap. The quality was high and the establishment was bright, extremely clean and with all the tables neatly laid for the day - we were there around 10.00am on a Tuesday. We were impressed by the attention to detail and the warm welcome.

Had a wonderful scone this morning with my coffee; it came with a generous portion of jam, clotted cream, and strawberry. The scone was slightly warmed - excellent!! whilst writing can I also recommend the chocolate fudge cake - one of the best cakes I have tasted in a long time.

We called in for drinks at lunchtime and the place was packed. We sat outside in he courtyard and the staff were friendly and helpful and service was very quick. The place was spotless and they couldn't do enough for us e.g. it was the only place we visited in South Wales that bought both lemon juice and lemon wedges for my friend's tea. They also brought out a bowl of water for the dog at the next table the moment it arrived. The prices were reasonable as well. Thoroughly recommended.

I believe the Thomas Arms were going through a reorganisation when we booked our meal, and it was difficult to contact staff. However, they now have changed their contact system to cover the different dept options, so I'm sure this has been resolved. We were a party of 12, at a time when the pub was very busy with the Christmas light celebrations, but the staff seemed to manage well and the table service was very good. The food was good in general, and the starter options of cockles, and the sticky toffee pudding were outstanding. All the staff were very pleasant and attentive

This was a great spot for lunch! We stopped off on spec and I was pleased to see vegan options. I had the vegan burger which was lovely. My parents had the chicken burger and the gammon, and they were equally pleased with the food, the portions and the service. I also had a vegan crumble tart with custard which was delicious! Overall a very pleasant experience, although prices were a little on the high side.

Stopped off here for lunch with my elderly mum and was pleasantly surprised. Whilst the seating was adequate the staff were very friendly and cleared vacated tables promptly. The drinks and food menu’s had plenty of choice and I decided to have the jacket potato with chicken curry which came with a salad garnish. The portion was great and the chicken curry was delicious…mum had a toasted sandwich which came with a small salad, coleslaw and some crisps. Both very reasonably priced and would not hesitate to recommend if you are looking for a lunch time bite. We will return.
