We really shouldn't have walked into this pub. The welcome was very similar to Slaughtered Lamb in American Werewolf! The patrons and the barman looked at us in a way that very much suggested we shouldn't be there. We asked about food, which we discovered that they don't serve, and felt so uncomfortable that we left before we even ordered a drink. Enter at your own risk.

Amazing Hot Chocolate with Welsh (Bailey's) It tasted BETTER than Bailey's. Must make sure I buy a bottle before I leave at the end of our holiday. It was a shame that there was no food as we would have eaten here. The bar staff/ landlord were so welcoming as were the other locals to holiday makers. They gave us a couple of hillarious evenings even though we struggled with a very strong welsh dialect at times! We had some great evenings and would thoroughly recommend anyone who would like a relaxed evening in a welsh pub to go there! Great fun and we will have some fun memories to take home with us. we will definitely visit again next year!

My wife and I visited this pub 3 years ago and had a lovely meal and drinks with our dogs, last year on our return we went to this pub again and were told it not opened for some reason this after 12:15hrs, so we went elsewhere, this year we returned again with our dogs, and thought we would try this pub again, and again the lady outside said at 12:30hrs the pub not opened yet, and then we see the sign also saying no food being served, shame really after having a good meal and drink and good chat with the locals few years ago, this place is never opened at the time it says, so obviously this pub must make so much money in the evening that it does not need to open at the time it says, mind you we did have a good time across the road in the Fountain nice welcome from management there and food was nice too, so in the end all the customers came to that pub and had a good time, Cheers Cross House.

Booked a table for nine with the three family dogs in tow. Such a warm welcome, really friendly, laid back and nice to our dogs who quickly settled with biscuits and bowls of water offered by the pub. Immediately remarked that the whole place was spotless, spacious, with a lovely aroma of good food. We were given an area with plenty of room for us all. The food was a fine example of British Sunday home cooked dinner sourced from local Welsh produce and it really was delicious. Tip... Always ask what they have that's local. So soup was great and the mushrooms on toast just fab. We kept to local Turkey dinner with lashings of gravy, vegetables and all the trimmings. Simple and perfect. The flavours just come at you. Then the deserts were just perfect. What I love is that the food is light. I work all over the South, Midlands and East Anglia. Quite often food is heavy or fatty and just misses the mark. So now I've found this place we have decided that we will be coming here for all our family gatherings.

Stayed in Laugharne for a week with my family and earlier this week we thought we would try out this pub for lunch as it displayed a big banner on the wall stating they were serving food. When I asked for a menu the young lady behind the bar apologised and said they were not serving food until later on in the day which baffled me as there was a large sign outside saying they were. An older lady sitting at the bar told me that it was because the chef had gone shopping. Very disappointed as I found it very unprofessional. When we asked if we could bring food over from the fish and chip shop opposite, we were told no as they serve food on their premises. Wouldn't return.

The welcoming was fabulous, young ladies behind the bar were extremely helpful, polite and had a good sense of humour. We decided to have a few glasses of wine down stairs (good and wide verity). Once we were ready for food we were seated upstairs straight away and got handed a menu. The menu included food for everyone's taste. We came on holiday locally and tried out this place for food and drinks. The staff were completely unwelcoming and blunt. No hello, or anything. One older lady working there one night was the most welcoming and a new man working there named Nick I think. The manager was very rude, completely unprofessional seriously he has no people skills. The food was ok actually but came out differently every night even if you ordered the same meal. Drinks were ok but after ordering two large wines both came out in different glasses and then when we went back to the bar for another large wine we were given two glasses of small wine because they had no large glasses left!! Ordered three lemonades, not one glass matched. Tables not exactly clean nor were glasses. The floor is disgusting, shoes get stuck to it...but it was the best place to eat in the village considering there's only one other option and that's got a very low food hygiene rating and a fish & chip shop which closes early.

Stayed in Laugharne last year and really loved the Cross House. Great food menu, great beer, great atmosphere, very friendly landlord and staff. Unfortunately, returning this year, we were much disappointed. You have to fight your way through the many smokers on the front door to get to the bar and inside, which used to be quite cool and chic, has now gone considerably downmarket. The clientele at the wooden tables at the front of the pub, appeared to have bought a load of cans from the shop over the road and were drinking them. They seemed to get by with a fairly limited vocabulary and a liberal use of expletives. Sadly, no longer a place to take the family. We went there intending to eat, but just didn't fancy it this year, so we can't comment on the food.

On a return visit to Laugharne we were interested to see a new look Cross Inn - totally remodeled both outside and inside - very impressive. The meals were very good but the waiting time was excessive bearing in mind that there seemed to be only another two tables occupied before us and they were on their main courses when we arrived. There was a similar long wait between the starters and main courses. The standard of food was very good apart from the peas with the fish being cool for the one of the 4 of us who chose fish. There was no wine list but a verbal choice of a couple of reds and whites was given on request. Some attention to staff training and efficiency could prove worthwhile to change a good experience into an excellent one!!

This place was recommended by a tatooed man in the Coop. In terms of the food I have to agree with him that it is both good quality, well cooked and nicely presented. Prices are also very reasonable. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. The decor and ambiance, however, is not to my taste. I felt I might be in Marbella or even Benidorm, rather than a quaint Welsh fishing village. Surprisingly modern and trendy inside, this old pub has a lively downstairs bar area and a good sized first floor restaurant area. The food is 'pub grub' but with a good choice and well done. Having read so many good reviews about The Cross Inn we decided on a visit and to our dismay were really disappointed. Amongst the meals were three steaks asked to be cooked rare, medium rare, and medium all came out blue (less than rare) sending one back 3 times produced no better a result. My son who is a chef spoke to the staff and restaurant manager, who is also the chef, to be met with a blank expression and the claim that he didn't know how we wanted it cooking even though we had ordered it so. But worst of all my daughter in law's salad garnish came served with a live caterpillar in it which of course completely ruined the evening. Our waitress couldn't have been nicer and treated our complaints with the seriousness they warrented although another one literally threw her plate under her nose after the third return without asking if it was now satisfactory. We left the pub only having paid for our drinks which in a reputable establishment and under the circumstances would have been complimentary but having seen the 'restaurant manager' we were not surprised. All in all not a good night for a family treat and as everywhere closes and stops serving food at 9pm we went back to our accommodation and had cheese sandwiches.I envy all the people who have visited The Cross Inn and had good times but our recommendation is use the chip shop opposite but then that was closed by 9pm too.

On holiday with my family. Decided the place looked nice so we booked a table. At the start very polite staff and got us to our table. Order taken 3 steaks gammon and kids meal all 3 steaks marked down by the waitress how to be cooked. Meals came no steak knives had to ask had to ask for sauces also whilst having a steak ment to be medium but came out blur so sent it back. Came back to us and was still really rare just out side cooked a little more so sent Bk again to b brought back again and just put down in front of us and walked away. Meal still not correct and still rare. Whilst this going on my partner had the the gammon chips peas and salad and a ****BIG LIVE CATAPILLER**** just sitting there smiling up at us eating our salad. All 3 of the steaks were cooked wrong not 1 was how any were asked at all. I took my mother's to the kitchen and asked the chefs if they needed a hand with cooking the food as they are clearly incapable of doing things right and the chef (ALSO THE RESTAURANT MANAGER AND HEAD CHEF) asked well how do u want it cooking as we don't no rudely. Clearly not got a clue how to run a restaurant as salads are not wash to get rid of dirt or CATAPILLERS NO APOLOGIES for any of it. Did not pay will not go Bk. Complete joke...

When you walk into this Inn it is quite a surprise as the whole place looks modern and certainly some money has been spent on the decor. The evening menu is not the largest and it certainly didn't help that on the evening we visited we were given the menus and when the waitress asked for our order the first three meals we requested were not available (it was only 1915!) Would it not have made sense to tell us that they had an even more limited menu when we sat down! The meals that arrived were distinctly average - we had four different meals and not one of them was worthy of any praise. All our wine glasses also had to be changed as they were not clean. Maybe they were having a bad night but bad night or not they need to keep their standards up. We visited here because of the praise from other Trip Advisor reviews but we were not impressed. We would probably return for a drink but would certainly not rush back for food!

I have always wanted to see Dylan Thomas's boathouse so we headed to Laugharne for the evening. Upon setting off i checked trip advisor to seek out somewhere to eat later that evening and after that the Cross House was high on our list. We had a wander around and sampled the pubs sorted out or digs for the evening then headed to the Cross House for food. What can I say!! Neither myself or my partner wanted starters but i wanted some goats cheese, I asked the main man could i have some goats cheese with my garlic bread and after clarifying how i wanted it, it was at the table with our main meals. I had the 5oz steak but wanted it as a meal not as a burger so again the boss sorted it. My partner had the hunters chicken. The food was delicious, great portions and very accommodating. We both had desserts also and they were very tasty. A lovely fresh and airy pub, comfortable and welcoming. I did say that if garlic bread with goats cheese ends up on the menu I want a cut of the profits haha.

We only intended to stay for a a few drinks but the menu looked great and was extremley reasonably priced. Portion sizes were excellent, food well cooked and served in good time. The service was excellent and the atmosphere great, what more is there to say? I would highly recommend this place.

Had a meal here on Saturday & the food was lovely tbf, there were 4 of us and we all enjoyed it. I will say though, we wern't offered desert after we’d eaten our mains, as we waited a fair time, we just paid & went. But all in all the food was great 👍

We have been without warm food since Saturday night (storm darrah), so when I say food was terrible you must belive me, dehydrated fish, over cooked mushrooms, and hardly any heat in the place, i was asked if everything was ok with the meal but I said it was fine as we were so cold and hungry. Won't visit again.

I had a fantastic Sunday takeaway dinner. The beef was incredibly tender and flavorful, and there was a generous amount of vegetables. I ordered it with just eat, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying meal.

Stopped off here for lunch with my elderly mum and was pleasantly surprised. Whilst the seating was adequate the staff were very friendly and cleared vacated tables promptly. The drinks and food menu’s had plenty of choice and I decided to have the jacket potato with chicken curry which came with a salad garnish. The portion was great and the chicken curry was delicious…mum had a toasted sandwich which came with a small salad, coleslaw and some crisps. Both very reasonably priced and would not hesitate to recommend if you are looking for a lunch time bite. We will return.
