Time 4 Thai in Edinburgh, City of

One of my favourite Thai restaurants I have ever been to. Walked in not knowing what the quality would be like, but overall was super impressed. Food was absolutely delicious, service was really good. Disappointed the restaurant wasn’t very busy because everyone should be trying this food! Waiter Jim was extremely friendly and provided very good service.

Our extended adult family of nine from Australia had the most wonderful meal here a couple of weeks ago. It was a last minute decision and we were amazed at the quality of the food and wine and the attention of the staff. I would highly recommend it for outstanding Thai food and service. A beautifully fitted out restaurant too.

We visited the restaurant while attending a conference in Edinburgh with colleagues. The restaurant is stylish and has a great atmosphere. The food was amazing and the staff were lovely. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu soon.

Don't go to Time 4 Thai. Waiter asked if I wanted a drink with the meal, I said no - he then 'offered' water, which I accepted. This glass of water was added to the bill at £1.60! Another review of this place was titled 'borderline theft.' There is no borderline about it. Food is also massively overpriced for the quality and the area, as I later discovered. You don't want to leave a restaurant wondering if you should file a police report.

will always be my go-to thai restaurant when I come to Edinburgh. The tom yum is so delicious and the fried rice.. unbelievable. We were gonna go to another restaurant last night but their kitchen was closed and we were craving thai food, so when my sister looked in the map she found Time 4 thai. I’m so glad that the kitchen closed in the other restaurant cause if it was opened wrong would’ve not came across this wonderful restaurant. I’ll be coming back :)

This place makes the best Pad Thai to have ever entered my mouth and it has been exquisite every time without fail. I will remember this food for the rest of my life. Also good wine, lovely service and calming atmosphere.

This used to be one of my favorite Thai places. Unfortunately the service and food I received today were sub-par. First, I ordered the Massaman chicken curry and the food was sickeningly sweet.. very different from how it is made it a Thailand which is less sweet more creamy and has more vegetables like potatoes, aubergine, etc. it also includes a small portion of rice - I could have used more for my dish. The duck spring rolls were also a weird consistency and came out in chunks when biting.. again with a super sweet sauce. Not the best choices today. Lastly, every time I've been here it's been dead. Today, I had eaten a late lunch and stayed a couple hours afterwards to finish some work. This person was different from the one who had served me, who promptly came with the bill and asked me how long I'd be staying for. When I asked him if they wanted me to leave, he just smirked a bit and didn't answer. When I told him I would only be another 15 min he said, 'that's ok then". After paying which by the way, has gratuity automatically added to your bill I asked if they close in between lunch and dinner. The answer was "no, we're open all day on weekends but you stayed too long". I'd say, that's not good customer service, especially if I paid for a big meal and it wasn't busy at all (literally no one there for quite some time - only an employee in the back asleep snoring at one of the far tables). I regret paying the gratuity now and won't be returning or recommending.

Food had all leaked out of the box , but what was salvageable tasted lovely

This is honestly the best Thai restaurant my partner and I have been to. The most delicious Thai green curry and lovely atmosphere. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for an awesome meal. A hidden gem for sure!

Excellent Thai food! Great flavor, service, and a cool spot especially at night. They are open pretty late too. There is another restaurant down below called Hibiki with the same owner.

Good food, especially on a rainy day with great soups and curries. The restaurant is beautiful and food is excellent. The restaurant lights up purple at night, which makes it easy to find.

This is a superb, authentic modern Thai restaurant in the heart of Edinburgh. If you enjoy Thai food and excellent Thai hospitality, then this is the restaurant for you. This was our second visit within a couple of months & it was just as good as the first time. The banquet for 2 is excellent quality and very tasty & the wines pair well with the food and are very reasonably priced, given that you are in the heart of the city. The staff are superb & deserve recognition, as their hospitality is excellent. There are other Thai restaurants in Edinburgh, which we have tried, but this is definitely the best overall. We will return soon, perhaps for lunch next time.

Very good Thai restaurant. We ate one of the menus. Very versatile and recommended. The chicken curry is particularly special - it tastes excellent. Everything is served with fresh vegetables and various sauces.

I went alone and ordered Thai fish cakes, Tom Kha soup and plain rice anticipating their portions to be big and too much for a single person. Sure enough, when the Thai fish cakes arrived, I asked them to cancel the plain rice from the order, which they did without complaints. I took my time enjoying and finishing my food and did not get any 'hints' to vacate the table. The ambience was cosy and people were enjoying the food and each other's company. It's exactly as a dining experience should be- good food, good ambience and relaxed atmosphere. I heartily recommend it.

Elegant setting, excellent friendly service. The food was just slightly above average, and very much overpriced. But all the restaurants in New Town seem overpriced -- once you accept that, TIme 4 Thai is a good choice.

We chose the banquet menu for 2 people and it was superb. Just the right amount of spice and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. The fish dishes were superb. We dined here many years ago & are not sure why it has taken us so long to return. This restaurant feels like an authentic Thai restaurant. The staff are lovely and are a credit to the restaurant.

A mixed starter was a mix of 5 starters with 4 paired sauces . All hot , fresh and very decent . Angry chicken and a red curry with king prawns were both hot tasty and had flavours in depth and a decent quaffable bottle of Pinotage didn’t break the bank . This was a really good Thai meal with good and friendly service . This will be our go to Thai in Edinburgh from now on .

LOOK, WE WAITED FOR FOOD FOREVER, WE EVEN WENT AND PURCHASED FOOD FROM GERNAM PLACE DOWN THE ROAD, AFTER LIKE 2.5 HOURS THEY DELIVERED FOOD. I WILL NEVER ORDER AGAIN FROM THIS PLACE AND UBER EATS, AS WE DID NOT HAVE AN OPTION TO CANCEL. IT WAS HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

As a group of 9 friends from the gym we decided to go along for a Christmas meal. We were seated and ordered some drinks, which took a while to arrive. The place was extremely busy which meant the service was slow. The food is dare I say worth waiting for. The staff were all friendly, but just very busy. We could have spent more if were served quicker. I will need to visit again to see how it compare with a smaller group.

Thurs 8pm mid Dec, No booking. First time eating here as other places were booked. Big Asian food fans (partner is Chinese) and the food was tasty, however I don’t feel the he whole experience reflected the price. Was half full, very clean, great attentive staff who are unobtrusive. The place is windowless but there are some spots that feel dingy due to the dark decor and dim lights and high feels lacking in atmosphere-be careful where you sit. There is only 1 by the glass wine choice for red, rose etc, but he rest is by the bottle. Ordered spicy squid-plentiful, cooked well but coating was very wet. Chicken satay-generous portion, moist. Veg spring rolls-bit tasteless but wrappers were crisp & not greasy. Annoyingly their pretty presentation made them more challenging to eat. All sauces were nice. No chopsticks were offered-odd. Mains were 2 pineapple & king prawn massaman curries with coconut rice. Requested extra mild spic despite this being a coconut based mild curry. Generous servings full of courgette, pepper & squash all perfectly cooked. 8 deveined juicy prawns. Didn’t det Ct any fresh pineapple chunks. By gosh this was spicy enough to cause 3 coughing fits and tears in my dining partner & I! Thought it was maybe normal spice level but receipt stated “extra mild”. Desserts were the usual Thai variety of mango or black sticky rice but we were full. All in all-pricey for what it was as an overall experience. So many other places I’d recommend before it so I personally wouldn’t return.

We arrived on a Saturday night 2 weeks before Christmas, there was only 2 of us and we had no reservation. The staff accommodated us promptly, service was swift. Food excellent, Service excellent Highly recommend it

Nice place with a good selection of food. We ended up ordering a mixed starter platter, my friend had a Phad Keemao and I had the Thai Duck Mango Salad a d banana fritters for dessert. The food waa overall quite good. The fishcakes were a bit dry and odd and were left on our plate, but the sauces were amazing and the rest of the platter really good. The Phad Keemao and the mango salad were also really good, although the mango was cut like continental chips and was a bit on the bland side. Dessert was nice. Service was good.

We ordered the shared platter starters for 2 people priced £15.90 per person. VERY disappointing! There were 4 very small offerings to share (one piece each), which were pretty tasteless and gone in two mouthfuls. Definitely overpriced, and not worth the £31.80 for that dish. We also ordered a chicken massaman curry, which was delicious and would recommend. The vegetable tom kha soup was just nice, not anything special. The service was very good.

We eat Thai food regularly in Ireland and this is by far the nicest Thai food we have had in a very long time. Attentive and prompt service with a warm atmosphere,would highly recommend.

Had the pad Thai but felt the noodles were overcooked and soggy and my hubby had the beef with holy basil and the meat was really tough

Pretty darn good Thai food with really great service in a chill environment. Particularly enjoyed the Penang Duck and Drunken Beef. The servers were very attentive and friendly.

Amazing - food is another level. The service was brilliant and the waiter knew all about the dishes. The restaurant was really nice inside too. All came together to make a brilliant experience. Well worth a visit.

It was quite the surprise to discover time 4 Thai. The food was delicious, interior was elegantly decorated and service was great! Definitely recommend to visit especially during those cold Edinburgh evenings.

The food is not that good. The prawns were not fresh and tasteless. The service was friendly but it took ages to get the bill when we asked for it.

Booked for a friends birthday dinner. Service was great and very tentative, but the food was a little disappointing. Food wasn't that hot, I had the fish curry and found the fish fairly dry. As was the egg fried rice, wasn't fresh. Tasted like it was reheated and a bit crispy?! The veg spring rolls were lovely but the best were the tempura prawns. Seemed expensive for what we ate and the quality tbh. Unfortunately wouldn't rush back for the food, but the service was great. Bit of a let down as both are equally important but food slightly more so.

Pretty average food. Insane prices. 4 people £160 and we didn’t all have starters and desserts. They were lovely people but the quality of the food does not justify the cost. Starters for instance such as the duck rolls are around £13. We had the share platters and some of the food tasted like it was from a freezer.

Service was great and wait staff were friendly. However the food was not up to par. The chicken in our dishes didn't taste very good and had an odd texture. Portion sizes are way too small for the price.

It was ok, but I defo would’ve expected bigger portions for the price. I got a chicken rice dish for £16 and it was basically a cup full with some salad. Staff were really great and lovely though and nice atmosphere. Afraid I’ll be giving this a miss in the future

Got a takeaway curry from here and container was half filled. Hardly any meat. Taste is average. Overpriced. Don’t bother. Wish I could get a refund.

I really enjoyed my twelfth birthday at Time 4 Thai. I also had one of the best curries I’ve ever had. I had a really pleasant surprise at the end and they were very kind to me. From Thomas

Food portions quite small compared to what they serve you in restaurant

A grand total of 4 prawns in the red curry. A trace of duck in the spring rolls. Felt a bit cheated. Pretty good flavours however, and great service.

Service was slow and very expensive. Got an awkward moment while paying with card and asking to reprocess the payment as the lady chose wrong currency.. She accused me to shout on her which I was really not… I would not go back unfortunately.

Let me say that I’ve had way better Thai food for way lower price. The taste was mediocre and portion size was small. Quite overpriced considering both quality and quantity. We waited for 40 minutes for the main course and even with that kind of service, they added an optional 10% tip by themselves. I wouldn’t go there again.

Meal on a Friday evening as a group of 5. Food was OK but could have been warmer. Not much atmosphere but restaurant was about half full.

Visited this restaurant as part of a large group. Service was very good. Everyone in my group was pleased with their choices, including a few who have been to Thailand. My starter was fish cakes tasted fine but had an odd rubbery texture - I'm not sure if this is in the style of Thai cooking or not. The lighting, decor and general ambiance is nice.

Thai atmosphere, Thai personnel, Thai beer, Thai food perfectly emplattered. And the experience ends with very good tasty, condimented food, which Is what I wanted in first place. Remarkable night!

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff, at least at the beginning. Extremely overpriced for the food quality. We had the holy basil beef, the meat was tough and definitely not very fresh. Totally uneatable! We communicated that to the staff, but there was just a neutral "okay", no apology, discount, free coffee or whatever. So we left still hungry. Ah yes, be aware that rice portion are extra for 4£ (small).

Okay. A decent quality lunch in a nice setting is all we wanted and this need was met. The food was good, not amazing. We ordered Tom Yum, the green curry and the cashew chicken. Tom yum lacked the usual complexity of flavour. Green curry was quite nice. Service was slow and inattentive.
