The food was lower than mediocre and the price way too high. Good portions, but tasteless in the case of pineapple rice and pad Thai, which I think is almost a feat. Pineapple not caramelized properly, and the flavour from shrimp and chicken inexistent. Pad Thai was just boiled Noodles with things around. Would not recommend, didn't feel the Thai spirit

Really great Thai food! Best pad Thai in Edinburgh I would say. The texture of the rice noodles is sooo good. The fried pork is the to-go starter. The meat is tender and the skin is crispy! You won’t be disappointed 🥰 Tom yum soup is also nice, a bit spicy. We ordered the Thai milk tea without milk, but it turns out to be not so sweet and really fresh! The fish cake is just okay. Everything is good taste wise, but the price is a bit high. Will definitely visit again ✌🏻

Traveling a lot this year, and having fun trying my favorite cultural cuisines in different countries. Spirit of Thai here in Edinburgh, Scotland wins the competition. The dishes (tom kum gai, gaeng kiew warn nuer, meang kum, goong phad medmamuang) blew our minds. Now, I'm the type of smart a$$ who has eaten enough Thai food I can ask for specific dishes by name and protien type, and most of the time people are happy to whip something up. Spirit of Thai was no exception. Happy for my enthusiasm. And we were not the only foreigners in there singing their praises. Another couple, students from America I believe, also said it was the best Thai they had ever had. Definitely going to be coming back a lot while here. Very good food. Very fresh. The Thai tea which is not on the menu was amazing. Not overly sweet, full of unique flavor.

The place is nice and service is good but the quality of ingredients is not very good and we felt it after the meal. overpriced.

This is a small restaurant and most of the customers seemed local. I can understand the repeat business as we went twice during our week in the area. Two things stood out about the food. It was beautifully presented and it tasted wonderful. We ordered the duck and pad Thai and shared. Both were outstanding. On our second visit we had the ginger chicken and a salmon dish. Both were tasty. Service was excellent.

The food was amazing!! If your spice tolerance is on a higher end you will absolutely love the flavours this place brings to you...we went at the lunch time so the place was not very buzzing and we got a great service from the restaurant... Highly recommend..

Was pretty bland and with no additional options of sauce available it was quite disappointing , portions were a good size though.

One of our party was vegan. spirit of Thai were able to advice best dishes that they could enjoy. The prawn cakes were AMAZING! Actually we all LOVED everything we ate. The service was tremendous. Couldn’t fault it! Would definitely eat here again!

Still the best Thai we've had in Edinburgh. We have eaten our way through most of the menu and have only had excellent, enjoyable dishes. Of particular note is the two-dressing seabass: sensational.

Food was ok, but didnt worth the price.

The restaurant itself is very cramped and the floor uneven so all the tables wobble and you are jammed in. The Tom Yum soup was delicious but the stir fry was cold and after reheating was very bland. The rice was not brought until we reminded them and when it arrived it was only just warm and not that good. Very disappointed as the food had been great on previous visits.

Wee bit expensive but I suppose you get what you pay for. 👏👏

Attentive and fast service, Spirit of Thai was a fun dining experience when you're looking for an alternative to Haggis! We enjoyed red and green curries, prepared and served differently than we'd had these dishes previously. Hodge, they were very tasty. Service was exceptional, and from order to food on the table was very fast.

Best Thia in Edinburgh. THE TWO Thai Girls run it so well. They make it a pleasure to eat in there.

It’s a shame the restaurant didn’t live up to the expectations. The two dishes I ordered were simply not authentic. Tom Kha with red onions and a very greasy coconut soup and the Pad Kra Pow looked nothing like it. Flavours were nice, but little authenticity. The staff was nice though, been told next time I can get the food the “Thai” way :D

Best Thai food I ever had in Edin

I ate the best green Thai curry of my life but in my opinion the prices are a little bit to high for food and they charge you automatically 10% for gratitude which I did not expected but as the dishes were so tasty I would like to still give 4 stars.

Had a delivery, prawn curry, not too bad though wouldn’t rush back. Eat Thai food two or three times a week with no problem. Within 24hrs, it’s exit left me in no doubt that all had not been sound with the goods/handling. Unfortunately, no sample secured.

Wonderful lunch on a rainy day in Edinburgh. The spring rolls were delicious, as was the Tom yom soup and green curry. Well paired with the house white wine. Nice little restaurant, very attentive and friendly service. We’ll be back!

We enjoyed our visit and had great food a good service! The Thai Sampler starter was excellent! Due to how busy it was and how many people were waiting to get in, it was a little hard to pay up and leave, not a big issue though.

Really tasty food with good portion sizes. More on the expensive side but a nice treat. Had the Thai red curry with prawns which was delicious and full of veggies.

I visited this restaurant 10-15 years ago and had an amazing dinner. We tried it again and were not disapointed. I highly recommend the set dinner for two. The fish cakes are to die for! The wine list is also world class.

Very tasty food, and the staff was super helpful in guiding us to dishes that were acceptable to my gluten-intolerant friend.

Surprising! Can’t believe they have the real Thai tea! It’s my favorite! Dishes are all presented very nice and tasty~ The green curry is full of shrimps and veggies~ Coconut soup is amazing too~ bring me back to Thailand. Two ladies are so friendly and polite! Thank you very much~

Booked here as it’s in a great location for Usher Hall and Lyceum, plus Lothian Road and the West End not far. It’s quite small so booking maybe advisable. Nice atmosphere, staff are really nice. Food was great, lovely and fresh. Nice variety of Thai dishes, you can have a mixed starter to share which has fishcakes, Satay, prawn cakes, spring rolls so a good choice! All our mains were really good, and there are vegan options too. Definitely worth a visit.

We found this little treasure behind the Usher Hall after a late performance. Immediately seated, we felt calm and relaxed. The lady who served us was most welcoming, delightful and served us quickly. Not once was our water not tipped full. As for the food - simply delicious. The red curry with tofu and vegetables and the duck red curry were not only the perfect portion size, but were steaming with goodness and rich flavour. Many thanks again for your generous service.

This was probably some of the best Thai food I have eaten in a restaurant! The flavours were simply delicious and you get a very decent sized portion too! It's a lovely, cosy little place but for this reason, I would advise booking if you want to eat here to avoid disappointment. The staff were very friendly and attentive also. Would highly recommend if you're staying in Edinburgh!

Probably - no - *definitely* our favourite place in Edinburgh. After being away for the weekend we knew we had to come back here for a welcoming dinner. Every plate is a work of art with an exceptional blend of flavours. We cannot praise this place highly enough. X

Ordered delivery, soup leaked a bit. Both the red curry (supposedly the king of curries) and our steak salad were far too sweet.

Absolutely amazing food. A must if you enjoy Thai food. We visited on wet and windy Sunday evening so they weren't too busy. Food was on the table within 10 minutes of ordering. Food was very tasty and plentiful portions. Would definitely visit again. Would have been 5 stars, but the Tom Yum soup on the menu was actually Tom Yam, but it's still very good. Reasonable prices too.

Me and my partner came to this restaurant tonight and it’s the best food we have ever eaten! Every bite was amazing I just wish I could take this restaurant and it’s staff back to my home city! The staff was amazing too it’s definitely worth a visit! Thanks for your amazing food and hospitality

Went here with a party of 3 for dinner, the food was delicious and really fresh! Atmosphere was lovely and relaxed and the service was fantastic, the staff were all super attentive and kind, really impressed all round I’ll absolutely be going back to try out the rest of the menu!

Late, cold, not spicy, not very good

Absolutely delicious! I had tumeric chicken, coconut rice and a red curry. The curry was packed with really tasty veg that was perfectly cooked. Sauce was super fragrant. Chicken succulent and delicious. 100% would recommend and would order again

Dropped in on spec and staff couldn't have been friendlier. Re commend duck, prawns and the 'glutinous black rice' pudding!

Before the pandemic, I used to have lunch at Spirit of Thai once a week, before my yoga class. The food is lovely, very reasonably priced, and their lovely staff always made me feel very welcome. Then came the pandemic. I'm not yet feeling safe enough to eat out, but thankfully, I've been able to get Spirit of Thai 's delicious food delivered, and it's just as good as it always was in the restaurant. Their spicy tofu and veg with cashews are my favourite Thai dish ever. Just gorgeous!

The Gaeng Phed Ped Yang is really delicious, if you like spicy stuff. Will order that again.

I go for Thai food here regularly as the food is delicious and staff are professional, attentive and welcoming. Daniel, the waiter, is a real gem and an asset to front of house service.

Was optimistic about the food once seated, but got caught out with the Thai Sampler starter was £11.95 per person (it is stated on the menu). So, best part of £24 for what I can only describe as food that was like tasteless spongy, tough.......something!!..........which...

My husband and I ate here tonight and although we enjoyed our meal, the harrassment and discrimination was one of the most extreme experiences I have had in 22 months. Both my husband and I have health exemptions from wearing face coverings and were relentlessly...
