Tiffin Indian Restaurant in Powys

Visited on spec after a hard days caving, and needing a good meal. Despite us being rather grubby and them having a large Birthday party in full swing, a table was cleared and we were well looked after. Very generous portions of meat in both our curries, all properly tandoori'd and bursting with flavour. That and the huge tasty naan breads made it well worth the visit.

A nice place to eat out with friends or as couples The food was good but my Naga was not that hot as in spicy.every one enjoyed themselves The service was excellent I would recommend it to people to visit we will be booking again .

Incredible food and great vegan options! Have to ring in advance to have vegan options as they can only make certain dishes vegan, but the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating with this! They took our dietary requirements very seriously and were lovely throughout. Will definitely be eating here again!

Ordered food for takeaway as usual Indian is closed. Arrived at collection time and had to wait over half an hour after collection time to actually receive my food which was then stone cold! Freezing cold in the waiting area and no acknowledgment by staff who gave freebies to other customers who arrived after me and left before me. Complete waste of time and money - never again! 0/10

Little bit qurky as main dinning area is actualy in the conservatory part.The staff were very polite and helpful. Nice drinks bar. The food, wow THE FOOD was outstanding, good size portions, filling and certainly didnt scrimb on meat within the sauce. All the food tasted stunning. Have now been a few time over couple of year, and everytime👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 one of best i have been to. BIG THANKYOU TO TIFFIN FOR A WONDERFUL EVENING. Mix style grill, Saag bhaji, Bhindi bhaji, Persnwi naans, Shri Lanka curry, Murg Dhjeeg. Pilla rice, Dupizia. All tried, and would def recommend.

Best Indian around. The staff are friendly and helpful. Always made to feel welcome. I've never eaten in, we've always had takeaway, although there doesn't appear to be much seating it does appear clean and comfortable. A welcoming area Whenever I arrive, I/we are made to feel welcome. Menu is varied and has plenty of things to try. Sri Lankan chicken makes me happy as my mother is Tamil so I do tend to get that. Portions are generously sized, I am never left hungry 😅 Honestly can't recommend this place enough

Very busy on the night we visited, which was good to see. We have visited on many occasions and nothing had changed, roll on to our next visit.

Eaten here twice. First time was okay. This time round, 30 minutes after eating my chicken makhani I ran to the toilet and I’ve never had food poisoning like it. When I reported the situation to the staff, they just stared at me blankly and didn’t seem to understand what I was saying to them. They told me it could have been from anywhere. I made a point of saying I hadn’t eaten that day because I knew I was going out for this meal on the evening, to which they then said they would take mine off the bill. Rude staff and no apology. I’m from Birmingham so near the city, never had rudeness like it or food poisoning like it. After leaving I had to run back into the restaurant to go to the toilet again. I couldn’t even make it home via the 5 minute walk in time the food poisoning was that severe. Just going to mention too, I had a quick peek into your kitchen and oh my lord. Grape stalks just strewn across the sides, like why? I don’t understand. Dirty dishes, dirty sides. Something tells me further round the back is much worse if that’s what I saw within customers view. Very unfortunate as the food tastes good, but the experience following eating it was not, nor was the customer service and treatment I received. Try at your own risk, this place seems a bit pot luck!

Booked in advance for a large group, arrived at 6pm food came out at 7.50pm. Staff are rude, food was below average Poppadoms brought out that you assumed were part of your meal but then got charged at the end for them. Would not visit again and would not recommend.

As a tourist in Wales, was struggling to get some good Indian food..Tiffin bridged that gap!!

Tasty, generous portions, polite staff and a relaxing atmosphere. Vehicle parking to the rear. Point to note for those who like to round their meal off with a coffee (& mints), this wasn't available when requested, (went to gastro pub over the road to get a caffeine boost instead).

Me and my family waited over one hour only to be told it would be another 5 minutes then after 15 minutes was told another 20 about an hour and a half waiting we just left Poor kitchen waiter communication

Booked a table relatively early on a Saturday as had plans after. Food was good both flavour and portions but everything was super slow. To be honest depite booking at 6.30pm I'm not convinced the chef started until 8pm - I didn't see anything other than popodoms on our table or any others. Real shame as enjoyed the food but put off returning.

We have had a few meals here..every time we have been is consistent and tonight was an exception..everything was so fresh and tasty..staff are very welcoming and friendly..we can not recommend this restaurant enough...thank you...looking forward to ours next visit..☺️

Came here once and never went back. The food was terrible just bland and full of grease. The staff were just dismissive and very unwelcoming. Tables were dirty and sticky had to wipe them myself. Food took a lifetime to come out waited half an hour before anyone even took our order then waiting another hour and half for food to get to the table the food was not worth the wait. Do not recommend this place

Returned after a long time. Chutneys and pompadoms fine also the samosas. However the main of house fish special, roti and tarka Dal were presented on cold plates, tepid food is not pleassnt

Friendly atmosphere plenty if options allowed our party to change items on the set menu. Food was beautiful and way too much. Couldn't believe the prices coming from Oxford how inexpensive it was for the quality and amount we had. Would highly recommend and we will be back

Although the external appearance could be improved to look more inviting, once inside, wearing masks as requested, the restaurant is air conditioned and playing what we perceived to be traditional Indian music, but quietly. The service was excellent and made for a thoroughly enjoyable evening. I asked for an off menu dish and without hesitation they said they could do it for me and it turned out to be one of the best versions of the I had ever had. Even though the restaurant became quite busy, the level of service was maintained. They offer a take away service as well as restaurant facilities. We would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.

We were staying in the local area and Tiffin was recommended to us. We got a takeaway. it was absolutely delicious! The food was so tasty and piping hot, too, even by the time we got the food back to where we were staying. Such generous portions of food. I had an extremely tasty lentil and potato dish - delish! I've eaten many Indian meals and this was truly one of the best. Thank you so much to all of the staff at Tiffin.

Always great service and food from the Tiffin. My husband and I have been using it since it first opened and have never been disappointed. The standard of food is excellent whether eating in or takeaway. Highly recommend it.

Good selection on the menu, ambience was nice with the music not too loud. Food wasn't really oily as it often can be and on one of the warmest days of the year so far was great that it had aircon inside, in a nice open space with big windows which made it feel very spacious.

Ad hoc treat. Food was as usual very good. However the service was awful. Only two people appeared to be in front of house and running around maniacally. This resulted in less than satisfactory service.

Recommended by the owner of the New Swan Hotel and was spot on. Food and drinks were perfect. Edged on the cautious side with courses from other diners who said it was impossible to finish what they had ordered. Was right to do so as the food ordered was the more than enough. If you're a big eater you will not be disappointed. Surprised when the bill came and was convinced they had missed something, excellent value. Would certainly eat here again without a second thought.

Good that I've checked on Google Maps because on TripAdvisor it shows as "Closed" but it's not. Really good! It's difficult to find a place with available tables and where food is still served after 8pm. We found Tiffin and we were not disappointed. Ordered online. Never arrived. Called, they were rude. They called back and said yes, they did have our order but hadn't seen it. Was already 10pm. Don't waste your time.

Decided to try a takeaway from here after many months absence. The food was nowhere near as good as it once was. Lots of raw onion which added nothing to the flavour of the curry I ordered. Won’t be returning anytime soon.

A great friendly service from J and all the staff at Tiffin. Excellent Indian cuisine. A South Indian will blow your mind while the Chat starter will entice your taste buds further more. A great local Gem in our beloved Ystalyfera. Thanks to all for a great meal.

Nice clean place, ordered starters and mains.all good but it was too much for us and we left about half of the food ( shame ) it was so good . Only a small place so book a table on a busy weekend

Visit this restaurant on a weekly basis , always warmly welcomed by smiling waiters .Food greatly improved over the past month ( believe the old chef has returned ) Food always tasty and boiling hot , we will continue to call .

First time having a meal from the Tiffin restaurant. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and will be returning

We were accommodated without a booking. Seated and our drinks order taken. Ample menu choice and reasonable prices. Opted for the chicken mushroom handi, garlic rice and nan. Partner had his usial chicken biryani. However we'd not eaten here before. The food was good. Not so spicy as I'd like but still flavousome. The waiters were quite attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We weren't able to get their attention to ask for the bill so we went up to pay at the bar. When home i realised it seemed over priced and quickly telephoned. I was told they had mixed up the bills and that I'd in fact paid for a different tables dinner. I was told I'd overpaid by 2.80 and I would be refunded next time i visited. It wasn't overly busy and I should have queried the bill while i was there as i did think it was more than it should have been at the time. So reason for 2 stars!

Awesome food with portions that are way to big for anybody, but who's complaining? Bit pricey, but a nice treat once in a while

Very enjoyable evening, the food was amazing and piping hot. We started with the chutney tray and poppadoms which was lovely and plenty of it. Starters consisted of Chicken Chat, Onion Bhajees, there were four on the plate, in other restaurants I normally get served two. Magic Mushrooms which was new to me, it consisted of mushroom and spicy meat in breadcrumbs.For main I had Chicken Japiur which was spicy and the sauce was lovely and rich. My partner had Chicken Jalfrezi, which he said was one of the best he had eaten. Finished off with Mushroom Rice. We couldn't finish our meals, due to the amount of food. We ended up taking most of it home and eating it the next day. Very reasonably priced and would definitely recommend it, personally I wouldn't order so much food next time "eyes bigger than belly" syndrome :-)

Have been a regular here for many years and is definitely my favourite Indian restaurant. Never had a bad meal here, prices are reasonable and portions are large. A good selection of beverages available at a fair price. Always have great service and even when busy the staff always manage to fit myself and my wife in. Can't recommend highly enough!!

Honestly the best Indian we’ve ever had (bar my mum who grew up in Birmingham, she’s hard to impress when it comes to curry)

Food excellent but the staff need a reality check. They are very rude, they huff and puff at you when you ask for something like a drink or the Bill. We were there for a birthday celebration and thier attitude honestly ruined the evening. I have had many Takeout meals from here but I will never spend another penny here after this experience. I recommend eating elsewhere purely because your hard earned money is clearly not really wanted there. To the Manager, Remember that your customers keep your business trading, Being located in a Small town where everyone knows everyone Word Travels and judging by other reviews, We are not the first to come across your staff's awful attitude towards Customers.

Best Indian 'sit-down' restaurant, in the upper-northern Swansea Valley. Great folks and attention to detail. The place to go.

We did not have a very good experience here, we attended for our pre wedding day meal. We were rushed, had food spilt on our guests with no apology and to top it off, a few of our guests including myself who was getting married had sickness and diarrhoea the next day (the wedding day). Whether or not this was a one off I don't know, as this was our first ever visit, but I would not recommend the restaurant at all from our experience.
