The atmosphere is just excellent! The place is small, cosy, and served great food! The staff are also extremely friendly and helpful, we even asked for a recommendation from the waitress and were not disappointed. An interesting menu with good variety.

We stumbled across this bar en route to a gig and it was AMAZING. 2-4-1 cocktails (yum!) and delicious food. Great vibe and lovely staff. Would definitely recommend this place if you’re in the Vauxhall or Brixton area.

If there is one thing I HATE in a pub, is when the bar staff do not give you the full bottle of mix you have ordered with your drink. It’s unusual to find a bar that does not use mixes from a gun, so this is a big plus for this pub.

I booked a table for 12 Friday 21st December for a Christmas get together with some friends, I have to say that my expectations were exceed by the amazing service, excellent food and great homely atmosphere with live music. All my friends loved the place and the food,our server Jean made sure that our night was wonderful all the attention he had and patience specially with such big group.

Stumbled here while staying at the holiday inn express nearby. Was quiet and had plenty of seating and beers on draft. They had daily European specials for food which also looked tasty. Decent price for a pint considering London location.

I used to go every Saturday there with my friends for drinks and enjoying the music. The staff used to be very friendly, attentive and could speak more than one language. Making sure all the customers were happy. Now it is the opposite. You can wait for 20 minutes to get a beer. They pass in front of you and they say very rude "I'm busy" and they never come back again. It is very disappointing because this is a nice place that used to be very good for having a nice night with friends but not anymore.

I stay in a hotel nearby quite often for work. I really like the contrast of an old-style British pub with Brazilian music and food. The atmosphere is easy-going, chatty and fun. I certainly don't feel out of place eating here on my own. However, the food itself is a bit hit-and-miss. For example, when I went last night I had the croquettes for a starter, which were lovely, but then the beef and cassava stew, which was quite mediocre - generally lacking in flavour and the beef was on the tough side. Price-wise it is very reasonable for London. I will for sure go back but will have to learn what's good and what's not on the menu.

Popped in for a pint on our way back from work, returned later to eat, less expensive than the previous night when we had burgers and beer elsewhere, we had two course and wine.Good interesting and well cooked food. We'll be back. Very handy if your staying at the Holiday Inn Express (it's right across the road!)

I were there with a large group, so I have to give that to the staff; however the one and only waiter was terrible, he didn't know which food was what when bringing it to the table, he gave no apologies for the meat being over cooked, it took hours for a few shared platters and mains while he treated everyone, especially the women with a macho approach to the job ("Don't be shy" said to every woman making an order and pouring wine even when the clients said they didn't want any more of it!). The food was bland in cases, burnt in others and absolutely not worth it. The only good notes were the live music and the prices of drinks: so if you are by, consider having a drink here, but skip the food, if you can.

We were delighted to be there! That's a real amazing Brazilian feijoada, nice staff and cozy place. We were very well served during the lunchtime and will come back for sure!

Really disappointment when you come over at 3 o'clock in the afternoon and they have no food at all.When it says online the restaurant is open.The guy on the bar said they close the kitchen from 3 to 5 and only serve alcohol.Not coming back. They should state the timetable or give more info to avoid people wasting time

I visited this establishment several years ago when it was a pub and was not impressed. I think it's still aPub but it's a pub with a difference. I can't tell you about the food because I only went there on a Sunday night for a beer because the Holiday Inn across the road didn't do draft beer. This place was jumping with lively Brazilian music. It was late I wasn't eating but the cuisine is Brazilian so I will be back to try it. Internal decor is as bad as the pub used to be but If you just want a drink on a Sunday night then go, it's an experience and I will go back to try the food. I hope it's better than the decor but it's worth trying that's how you find the good places. I'll let you know.

Locale Brasiliano che organizza molto spesso serate a tema. Abbiamo preso una spada con carne cotta sulla piastra molto buona con un contorno di fagioli in umido e patate fritte e della piccagnia con un formaggio squagliato sopra buono. Nel complesso carne buona ma il locale pecca di pulizia.

I went to Tia Maria with a couple of friends for birthday party on Saturday 15/10. I had some coxinhas and frango a passarinho which was delicius!!! Great Samba music was being played there(a bit to loud for a restaurant I must say but nice music), really represents the brazillian atmosfere of happy people. Nice drinks and very kind and friendly staff working at the bar, nice place.

The food was really good! We popped by on a Friday night. The music was great and it was a fun atmosphere. Here's the downside: it was busy (no big deal), but no enough bar staff. I waited about 15 minutes to order drinks and to try to order food. When I did order food, the female bartender rolled her eyes first, and then made a big show of having to get a pad to write down my order. I know, it's annoying that I ordered food when it was busy, buuuuuttttt I am a paying customer so pretend to be less irritated.

Whilst staying at the holiday inn we decided to walk across the road and go in. We were greater by very friendly staff. That evening they had live music by Lia Sophia, she was fantastic. The following evening we returned to Tia Maria for our evening meal, I had a traditional dish which was excellent. Service was great and the price reasonable for London. Would recommend. A great find

I have been to Tia Maria twice and in both times the food and service were excellent. This is the most authentic brazilian restaurant I have been in the UK. The food is full of flavour and comes in decent size portions. The "Feijoada" and "Mixed skewer" are delicious and a big success among my family. I did not find it expensive as I went on a Tuesday night, when they do the 50% discount on some dishes. It is definitely a place that I will eat whenever I go to London.

So disappointed ... we (friend and two children 7/9 yrs) stopped here as it is very close to our airbnb. We got in easy enough ... ambiance was meh. We ordered at 8:00 - started w/appies and drinks. Asked if they have a "local" ale. I was given a cold "dont know" sort of why you asking me ... then I think Fosters is. OK ... I said ... give me something on tap. The kids will have OJ. 25 mins and juice and beers show up. Maybe 4-5 oz jiuce for 4 pounds ..OK. After 1 hr and 5 mins still no appies. I am getting frustrated and called over a guy who was going in and out of the kitchen ... he got the ball rolling and a bar manager came over to apologize -- actually blame it on the waitress - she was new and the kitchen as they were backed up .... in 20 mins they started delivering dishes one at a time ... we had to cancel two meals and push for my sons chicken - they said cant he just eat fries as the chichen will take 20 more mins -- I thought I would lose it .... The bill came - I thought they will do something to fix this mess ... not a chance ... full fare plus 15% tip all built in. This is the first time I have actually thought about dining and dashing ... except I actually didn't dine ....I called the manager over had a chat and said not a chance - he took the tip off plus 10 pounds and thought he did me a big favour ... we paid more then 50 pounds for this horror ... Not again.

Visited here for the first time and was very pleased with the warm welcome we received. The reason it's not a "very good", probably the size of the portions, we had skewers and you do literally get one skewer for £6. The other reason is that service was included - I am not a fan of that. Especially when I forget and also leave a tip! However the food was really tasty and the house red was also very drinkable.There was live music too which is always a bonus and it wasn't too loud for dining and chatting. Definitely one to try ....

This is a converted pub in Lambeth, not what I was expecting when we arrived. However the staff were really welcoming and the food was very good and very Brazilian. My partner is Brazilian and she loved it. Decor is not amazing, the food was very good but not particularly cheap. But we will definitely make the trek from Southwark again, we had a lovely evening.

I have been to Tia Maria twice and what I can say is that this is a very nice place to eat a genuine Brazilian food. All the staffs are very keen. I feel as I'm in Brazil there. I really recommend this place!

this converted bar is a little bit of Brazil in the south-Vauxhall portuguese community. I happened to pass it and thought I'd give it a try later in the evening. It was a quiet night but the cozy, soft lit atmosphere was nice. I had the Cheese balls, Halloumi + cherry tomato Skewer and goats cheese Tapioca . the tapioca is a rare option in the UK but the cheese balls provided THE cheese and bread option for beer that places like Prague need to learn! ;-) would have prefered skewers rather than skewer - but I did see some main course dishes and those portions were fine. Will certainly be coming back here when I'm next around the area.

Das Abendessen war im ganzen okey...Die Vorspeise ,,Pao de queijo"und ,,Picanha" waren sehr sehr fein.Wir haben alle ein Rindsfilet Medium bestellt und uns riesig darauf gefreut. Umso enttäuschter waren wir, als uns ein Entrecote auf den Teller serviert wurde.Leider auch nicht Medium....Der Herr, welcher uns bedient hatte war sehr freundlich, was man von seinen kolleginen nicht behaupten kann.

its a bit scruffy inside, its a pub but they still add a service charge. the food just wasn't that good and we left a lot of it on the plates, when asked if we enjoyed the food we said not so much but it didnt seem to register. there was a lot of fat in my food. my companion is married to a brazilian so isn't new to this genre of food. its not that cheap either although the service was pleasant enough. i would not go back. poor is the word, pity

Cheap cuts of beef can be the most flavoursome, but when cooked slowly and with moisture. Not when cooked quickly as if a piece of fillet. The 'salt beef' was tough and unpleasant. The 'halloumi purée' was tasteless and pointless, and just needed to be scraped off the leather-like meat. Beans, one of the staples of Brazilian meals, were under-seasoned and just tasted strange. Chips were ok. Not going back.

This restaurant was an unexpected surprise for us while staying in an apartment in Vauxhall. Nice brazilian food and music. Even miles away, felt like home.

Wasn't hopeful, empty on a Tuesday night, but thought whatever. Ordered and the garlic prawns and Brazilian sausage were fabulous starters, then out came the main courses, beautifully cooked, amazing flavours. I am so coming back here

We have found the service to be excellent and very friendly. My son loved the food so much he requested that we come back even though we are only in London one week. He had the national dish and I had a chicken burger. Both were very good. We each tried something new our next visit and enjoyed that too. Have not been in when the live music is on but I expect it to be great.

We only stayed for 1 drink,we ordered 2 pints of lager i didnt enjoy mine but drank most of it,my partner couldnt drink thier one it wasnt good whatever it was.The doorman who stopped us and asked what we wanted on the way in kept looking over we felt uneasy and didnt want to complain about the lager because of this so we just left,not a good atmosphere and beer wasnt good seems we where not welcome for whatever reason,shame as there are so many good reviews,i will not go in again.

I have been here twice now. I love the food here & also the atmosphere. Good quality Wine too. Located on a main road. Not sure of parking as I have walked here both times.

Went on a Friday night out with friends. It was time to close and took my time to get out as there was a LOT of people still inside. The security asked me to leave and I carried on talking to my friends who goes there every Friday so let's say they are locals. The security carried on asking only me and my husband when he screamed at me and called me a monkey he was Polish and I'm Brazilian brunette, I looked at him in disbelief when the owner's daughter came up to me and told me I had to leave. Bare in my I'm the client and the one paying for everything I consumed and there was about 20 people in the house still. So I guess if you're not there every weekend you're not so welcomed. I was lost of words and will NEVER set my feet in that place again.

We stayed at Holiday Inn Express just over the road and we're looking for a quick meal. The main courses were half price and total bill including a drink each was under £30, excellent for London. We had the mixed grill and salmon with rice - both excellent.

Great place to hang our for live Brasilian music. Friday night forro and Saturday night Samba - great musicians, great crowd, great food. Always have a great time here.

After venturing the streets of the neighboring the Holiday Inn Express in Vauxhall, a neon light lead my wife an I to this one of a kind restaurant and pub. A warm reception by new found friends, Nadia and Cristina, great food , cold drinks , soft music and lovely authentic Brazilian atmosphere completed our 1st day in London. Do yourself a favor and stop by a day when in the area. See a part of London less explored.

Visited here whilst staying at the hotel over the road. It's not the plushest pub in the world, a little rough around the edges shall we say, but it has character and a nice vibe. Food is great, mixed grill particularly excellent and authentic. Service was swift and friendly and the place seemed popular. The music wasn't my cup of tea this particular night, heavy and probably v traditional Brazilian music. But it does give the place some atmosphere and the locals were getting into it so all good.Worth popping in..

Un restaurant servant des spécialités brésiliennes n'est pas chose courante chez moi, je décide donc d'essayer celui-ci. J'y mange divers tapas locaux comme les pao des queijo , sortes de gougères au fromage, assez bonnes. Puis, vient le moment tant attendu du plat national: la feijoada (un cassoulet brésilien avec viande fumée, haricots noirs...) Les portions sont copieuses mais le plat est bien trop salé... Dommage.

I've been to Tia Maria on a Friday night, it was Noite do Forró (Popular Music from the Northeast of Brazil) the music was pleasant to listen and although it was quite empty there was some people dancing and you didn't have to wait long for the food. We ordered 3 dishes to share, Toscana Sausage, Calamari and Prawns with garlic sauce and I also order for myself a Tapioca with dried coconut and condensed milk and everything was very delicious, I definitely recommend the Calamari cos it was cooked just right and didn't taste like a rubber at all, the prawns was very taste too. After some time we order the beef with cassava and it was the best of all dishes in my opinion. The red berries caipirinha is a must try. The staff were friendly and welcoming from the very beginning, we had a problem with the balance of our table but we didn't want to change and one of the guys offer to fix it at once. I'm very pleased with my experience and I'll definitely recommend to my friends and will come again very soon.

I tried the so called national dish which was, allegedly a pork stew. This had a lot of questionable parts of the pig which were also undercooked. The dish had no taste and I couldn't eat it, and I can usually eat most things! My colleague ordered a steak which turned out to be lamb and they tried to persuade her that boiled potatoes were the chips she had ordered. We got the wrong bill and after having had to wait about 40 minutes for the food decided not to pay the service charge that had been already added to the bill. Will we return? No way!

Went to it last night with a group of 8 friends and had not a very good experience. Despite of having a very good food for a very good price (the food was awesome actually) it took us about 1 hour to be served the starters and more 1 hour to get the main course which is a lot taking into account that the place wasnt crowded. The staff were very friendly but did some mistakes in our order. We also took a long time to pay at the counter, and our table was a little bit dark, but is reasonable because of the atmosphere proposed. Despite of that, very good brazilian food for less than 10 pounds.

Tia Maria is a bar and a restaurant, which serves brazilian food, though the dishes could have come from anywhere, really. We had mixed grill, which was a skewer of chicken, lamb, beef and a sausage served with fries. Lemonades were great, strawbeery smoothies not so much, and the salmon good, but very traditional. All in all fine, but not very special.

Di fro te all'hotel, comodo e il cibo non é male... Ma niente di speciale. Non ci si va che se ci si trova da quelle parti.

I have visited Tia Maria Tapioca on a few occasions with a friend and on every occcasion I have left fully satisfied with the experience. Bar staff are friendly and attentive. I look forward to returning once again this evening to experience Brazillian food for the first time.

I went to Tia Maria with my wife to have a traditional Brazilian food. The weather was a bit chilly so it was perfect to order feijoada.To start, we ordered coxinhas and passion fruit juice. We were a bit skeptical about the quality of what we we were going to have, because there aren't many Brazilian restaurants around to compete. Luckily, by the time of the first bite, we realised they were amazingly prepared coxinhas. Very soft and flavoured!Feijoada was also fabulous, with all the ingredients you find in Rio or São Paulo, and large enough to serve a couple.I definitely recommend going to Tia Maria, especially if you not familiar with Brazilian cuisine and want to give it a try.PS: Amazing deserts available. Try coconut fudge
