Took my mum and aunt here while we were on holiday absolutely wonderful staff and nice food

I have been there a few times with friends but we will not be going back for now. The cups were dirty and smelled bad. When I asked the waitress to change it she came back with an equally dirty cup. I don't want to be rude but it's disgusting.

I don't adventure into town often as the shops are getting less & less. So after walking around my partner & I decided to stop for a brew, now Torquay has a fair selection of coffee shops so I was spoilt for choice. We stopped off at Thyme Out as we had been to Tesco's across the road... basically it was the easiest coffee shop to get to. I ordered a coffee & my partner ordered a tea, all good so far. We both decided to have egg on toast, mine being scrambled & the other being poached eggs. When ordering I asked if there was brown/ granary bread..I was informed from management that there wasn't any due to waiting for a delivery and would white bread be ok? Fine I said so we sat waiting for our breakfast. Brews arrive first which where hot...only thing that was hot as someone forgot to put the heating on. Then breakfast...well I received one piece of toast with a few scrambled eggs sat neatly on a single piece of toast. An my partners was one piece of toast with two poached eggs sat on. Now I'm not asking for loads of eggs but come on! An one piece of bread... FFS if you have run out and awaiting for a delivery then quickly pop to Tesco's and buy a loaf. So I managed to spend £10 on two pieces of bread and I reckon maybe for eggs in total. Utter crap and poor value for money, I wouldn't be sad if you closed down. You don't even deserve one star!!

Popped in for a coffee and one of the delicious Bacon and Sausage buns. They had been busy earlier and the staff were working hard clearing tables and restocking areas. Lovely food and friendly staff

We visited thyme Saturday 16 nov . We have visited the place quite a few times as it is great for the kids to play. However todays visit was a big let down , we pushed the service button on the table number card. We waited for ages until we were told it's now table service. One of our party said it would of been nice to be told. A member of staff with a a condescending voice said well if you had read the board we would of seen. She made us feel a little bit of a fool as two of our party are dyslexic. Feel very let down and made to feel unwelcome

Very slow service in there , toilet bin was over flowing with rubbish , they were painting inside whilst customers were eating etc

The food was mediocre it wasn't good it wasn't bad. I had The pancakes with maple syrup and banana staff were friendly while talking to but very rude once we sat down talking behind unit about how drinks didn't look right but still severed them. will not be coming back anytime soon

Called in for a coffee & decided to have a toasted tea cake as well. Both were lovely & I would thoroughly recommend this cafe.

Relaxing atmosphere,Chloe and Charlie were helpful and friendly staff and very attentive! Great food and at a cheap price! Will definitely be doing a second visit.

Really lovely space to eat, have a coffee and chat, ideal for mums with young kids to have a meet and catch up, whilst they supervise their kids in the play area

We found a hair in our food, after showing the staff, they took our plate and came back to us after 5 minutes telling us that the chef was willing to remake our food but we had to wait after all the orders that had already come in, stupidly I had assumed it was the staffs mistake and it would be done first but there is a bit of a rush, but after 40 minutes I got up to pay for out drinks and leave, when I said to the staff that it is unusual to make customers food last after a mistake as it's normally done as a priority, and the staff replied with a possibly made up excuse of the fryer had to be reset, which would have been a good thing to tell your customers waiting for food. The staff didn't offer anything in return for this terrible service, I've worked at places where we have comped a whole meal for being 15 late, I wasn't looking for a handout just a little bit of understanding that we had been sitting for over an hour overall to eat breakfast before leaving.

One of us had cream tea scone hot and could only eat middle, jam and cream melted, others had cheese tea, scone again very hard.

Horrendous experience. Staff were extremely rude and not helpful at all. Definitely will not be returning.

Amazing and tasty vegan options with generous portions. It was also cool to have the service and check alerts when ready to pay. Had a blast singing karaoke before food arrived. Will be coming back again to try more of the menu!

Popped in today 8/8/2024 to dodge the rain as they'd been recommended by the owners of the hotel my wife and I are staying at. We had a slice of cake each and also a pot of tea. Cake was outstanding and the tea was perfect. They were very busy and were open with customers who had come in for food because only 1 chef was working and there would be a delay in servce. Professional attitude from ALL members of staff. Clean and tidy and value for money.

We popped in for a CBD tea and coffee both were delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful even allowing us to take a pick of the CBD brands they use.

Such a shame our experince was not good . The place was almost empty but we looked at reviews before going in which gave a good impression, the girl explained the menu and due to a new chef only half the menu was available but was not an issue. The bell system from the table did not work twice, 3rd time lucky we ordered the scotch egg which my wife said was lovely, and 2 coronation chicken baguettes , all meals with no salad dressing. When the meals arrived the waitress dropped the side of my baguette on the floor, at least a 3 inch piece of bread which she was aware she dropped, but no apology or changing of the meal, just leave the bread on the floor, all meals turned up with salad dressing, and when pointed out was not rectified, and the 2 baguettes should have had crisps which were forgotten, and the waitress had to check the menu herself when we challenged. I ordered lemon and ginger tea, it was not noth lmon or ginger about it anf far too dark, but the girl that made the tea who spent most of her time on her phone was adamant it was, she did offer to change, but I said if you are that certain it was lemon and ginger what is the point of changing for the same. The baguettes were nice, but sorry to say service was so poor I will not go back. A guy came in who had been banned for being inappropriate, I do not think is was right for the server to tell us why he was banned

Me and family popped in for breakfast and I have to day it was one of the best I have ever had, every bit of the full English was fantastic, hats off to the chef. The staff are very good considering there age, very well run cafe, the selection of food and drink was also very good, good coffee as well. Definitely be going back again in the future and would highly recommend for a breakfast or lunch. Little push button on the table for the waiter is a nice touch 👌 The owner should be very happy considering how the town has died, it takes businesses like this to pull people back in. Last point price was on point, very good valve.

Poor service. Had to wait 30 mins for a toasted teacake.

Not recommended for bubble tea, but otherwise OK. We headed here as our preferred bubble tea place was closed. I decided to go for it based on a previous review. Sadly the tapioca in the bubble tea was very chewy - overly so - and off-putting. Felt like bubble tea had been tacked onto the menu rather than being a speciality; plus I overheard one of the staff getting instruction on how to prepare the bubble tea - not confidence inspiring. Otherwise, the staff were friendly and helpful and the service was very quick, but I would say this is more a generic café rather than somewhere I'd go for bubble tea in Torquay.

Regular coffees were HUGE! Great value!

Fabulous find!! Great menu terrific staff! Went above and beyond to fulfill my dietary requirements. Huge healthy salads. Would certainly recommend!!

As a local, I rarely go into Torquay town centre. But I will definitely be coming in just to visit this place again! Staff were so friendly and efficient. Food portions were great and the food itself was delicious. The atmosphere was welcoming and I didn’t feel awkward at all being alone. The TV was a nice touch with lovely things to watch on the screen. Thank you!

Food was very overpriced for what it was sadly.

One of those places that we have heard so many good things about and finally took the plunge and went in with the family, what a mistake that was service was shocking and ask you heard from them was that it was busy when the place was half empty, also according to our friend we went in with the menu had recently changed and had got a lot more expensive, just in time for tourist season, surely a coincidence? When our drinks finally did turn up they were lovely though

Lovely quality food. Home made soup was piping hot and just delicious. Milkshake.... Totally amazing. X

45 mins wait for food so we decided drinks only. We waited 15 mins to be noticed them another 20 mins for 2 lattes to arrive. Other guests were having issues too. Not a great experience. Wouldn't visit again.

Fantastic and very good staff friendly

Really nice little place. I was just walking past & didn't realise it existed. Turns out it's massive, cosy, friendly & has great food with massive portions. Best chips I've had, great battered fish too! Plenty of seating (nice comfy seats too), dog friendly & right in the middle of town.

This cafe is great, staff very friendly & food was great. I lived the fact that when you were ready to order or pay your bill you just pressed a button to let the staff know.

The food was delicious, and they had a great selection of gluten-free food, including burgers! The little play area for the kids was a lovely bonus. Nice relaxed atmosphere, and dog friendly too. Will definitely be coming back!

Great place to come for a drink and have your child play for a bit in the play área.

Ordered house curry. Big lumps of dry chicken with spices on. No liquid whatsoever. Said with naan and popadom. No naan but 2 popadoms. Driest meal ever eaten. Also gluten free fish and chips wasnt great either. Fish ok but gluten free batter not good. Wouldn't eat here again. Great cup of tea though.

Whilst having a day out in Torquay we decided to take a break for a drink and cake… and came across Thyme Out. We sat at a table and there was a device on the table that is connected to the system so it alerts them if you want to order and even to get the bill! As this was only a short break we had the Bakewell tarts and Decaff Tea and Regular Mocha. The cake was good and not dry and the drinks were also good. For the staff on call (just two of them) they were pretty much rushed off their feet with the customers that were there but they managed it well. There is a small kiddies play area to keep them amused and plenty of seating for the size of the establishment. An all in one toilet (accessible and male/female and changing part) is available for use. Overall a truly good little place that offers the usual fare of cooked food and sandwiches and cakes.

Food was cold.Small portion of fish,hard and cold.Teacake too hard to consume.Offered a replacement but waited so long to be served, didn't have time for replacement.Expensive for portion size.Prices not adequately displayed.

Amazing fat super halumi fries the best I've had for ages. I had a ham and cheese baguette toasted so the cheese had melted it was super yummy and hit all the right spots of what I was craving

First visit and very impressed. Comfortable seating. Very welcoming staff. Love the gadget on the table for letting staff know you are ready to order, payment etc. Good choice on menu. Food well presented and hot.

Fiirst visit was great friendly chatty staff. Visited again today, miserable staff , all seemed uninterested and hungover? Didn't notice much customer interaction. Depressive atmosphere. None of them look like they want to be at work. Won't be visiting again.

Had a plain scone yesterday and it was small and very hard, when I cut it with the knife it shot off the plate they never used to be like that? Ate it like a biscuit as I was hungry.

This is the place to go! Wonderful service and the chocolate milk shakes are to die for! There is a fabulous menu and they serve wine etc if you want it. We will be back!

Great bottomless brunch , amazing quality foods

First no prices on the menu tea was nice don't have a scone it was very dry more like a rock cake kept it for the seagulls.

I had high hopes for this place as when walking past the food looks good, presentation wise but I was disappointed for the money, I found it expensive, £8 for a panini Inc some rocket and a small amount of crisps.The chicken in the panini had an odd taste and texture, you could tell it was cheap and frozen.The panini bread was nicer than the usual places and the coffee wasn't too bad. Service was slow, I don't think the table gadget improves service for the customer.

Friendly staff service is good cannot really comment on food only had a breakfast and wasn't really impressed with it think it had been cooked and warmed up. But don't let that put you off. Its worth a visit.

Great cafe in the heart of Torquay Fleetwalk very clean, friendly staff and everything cooked to order.

My 85 year old Mum got charged £17.50 for a one course lunch and cup of tea. It says on their website that a Sunday lunch is £10.95. That makes the cup of tea over £6. Really?

Had a atandard breakfast, unfortunately the fried egg was undercooked with gelatinous albumen. I think they use vegetable oil to cook with as it has a definite smell about it. The sausage was almost burnt at the ends & I couldn't eat it. Reasonable quality of produce just in this case not well cooked. Also the only toilet wasn't overly clean. No solid cover, so when you flush "toilet plume" goes everywhere.

This was one of those chance finds, you know, when you're not really familiar with a town but hunger gets the better of you and you kinda go "eeny meeny miny mo" and pick somewhere at random?? Occasionally that selection process can backfire, but not in this place, it was really a nice place to be, a little quirky, but in a really nice way - a very varied menu, and really good value too! It was surprisingly quiet, but then we were there well after the usual lunchtime, but we were made welcome and were presented with some very acceptable comestables indeed!! Now we know where it is, when we next visit Torquay, this is where we will eat!!

Called in thyme out great local owned cafe the staff where friendly service was great only had tea and toast but it was lovely the tea was made with real tea not tea bag missed tea like this blooming lovely when we in Torquay next we be calling again I would recommend thyme out to anyone visiting Torquay 😀

We were expecting cafe food but given restaurant quality food, very pleasant change, would recommend to anyone. Will definitely use next time we are in town.

Love the bubble tea. First time ever had it and now I'm hooked. So much choice in drinks nice friendly staff and some computerised thing on the tables which goes straight to the staff to tell them you want service or pay bill and some other options. Makes life so much easier. Kids play area too. Wow just wow an all in one place that's just simply amazing 👏

Best cafe in torbay, the food was perfect and the coffee too. My daughter loved the play area. Staff were just perfect too, carnt fault them. The service buttons on the table too were a nice touch.

At first we only came in here to escape the rain but it is so inviting we had a Prosecco Cream tea and returned again for lunch the next day it really is the perfect place to experience the delights of Devon "my lovely "!

A good local cafe in the center of town selling a wide variety of food

Ive been coming to torquay for the past 4 years and always come to this place for food, and everytime the food, service and staff have always been amazing. But this time I took my daughter for afternoon tea after seeing pictures online of how they are.. Well I have to say I was very disappointed with what we got and to say it cost £30 I felt like I had been ripped off. The choice of sandwiches was poor for the price your paying.. I left hungry and absolutely gutted. I'd still recommend going for Food there, but I wouldn't recommend having the afternoon tea.
