The room was fine and enjoyed a good nights sleep. Location is great for the M6 motorway but not really good if you're visiting Carlisle. Last but not least is reception is very poorly run. Only one person checking people in whilst a few waiting. Impossible to find anyone on reception after checking in for information. Normally Premier Inn are OK, so I can only put this down to staff shortages as they didn't even answer the phone in another attempt to get someone's attention in reception.

We had booked four cooked breakfasts. Throughout the pandemic and beyond, help yourself was sensibly stopped and all food was cooked to order. This appeared to work very well and customers were receiving reasonable food. We discovered that they had reverted to help yourself on the first two mornings. Not withstanding the fact that Covid hasn't gone away, this method of food delivery, is absolutely diabolical. Food is hard and either shrivelled up or dried up. I could have bounced the fried eggs off the wall. The breakfast looked like those in a seaside rock emporium. There were a number of things unavailable, usually listed on a board outside the entrance. Thank goodness that on our last two mornings, breakfasts were cooked to order and what an improvement they were. I have to give our thanks and praise for the exceptional service provided by Barbara. Her service was above and beyond and she is a credit to the establishment. Good staff are hard to find. It would be good if they fixed the issues with shortages and got the coffee machine to work. This was out of order throughout our stay. We chose not to eat here in the evenings, favouring the bright lights and restaurants of central Carlisle.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

I've been here twice now this year, against my wishes I might add, and both times have just been a diabolical joke. The service itself is terrible... You stand around for ages just waiting for someone to seat you, and half the time they're just wandering around mindlessly, not paying attention. Occasionally they might ask you if you have any food allergies, but they don't actually listen to you when you tell them. One particular server who I have now encountered twice so far, barely lets you get a word in edge ways, at breakfast, rather than listen to what you want, she just asks, you want eggs? you want bacon? you want sausage? You tell her you want vegetarian sausage and she immediately follows up with, you want black pudding? They just don't listen. My mother ordered Bacon, beans and mushrooms to go on toast... they brought the three things out on three separate plates, my uncle and I then waited a further 10 minutes for ours to come out, only for them to bring out my mothers order AGAIN. When asked if they had soya milk, we were told they would go for a look... 15 minutes pass "No, we don't, sorry" a few minutes later a different person brings out some soya milk. While we sat, eventually, eating we watched as a traffic jam of people waited at the door to be seated while staff just wandered blindly past them. One day they have a serve yourself buffet for hot breakfasts, the next day you have to order it and wait. Multiple times we heard the servers apologising to people for making mistakes on their orders... The whole place is just so badly run, if it wasn't attached to a hotel, the place would be out of business in no time... It wasn't even particularly busy and there was at least 3 people working the floor... When I had an evening meal here, the prices were ludicrous. A fish and chips here, you can get 10 minutes down the road at another premier inn for £5 cheaper. The portions are most certainly not worthy of the price you pay for them and look like they've been prepared by a chef with delusions of Michelin quality food while preparing it in a microwave and plating it wearing boxing gloves and a blindfold.

The front of house staff performed very well and the room was up to standard. The restaurant servers tried their level best and where let down by inept and classic headless chicken management. Lions lead by donkeys is another way if describing the shambolic hospitality abyss that unfolded under the Duty Managers control? It took 35 mins to manifest 2 simple meals without the restaurant being particularly busy. In that time drinks were served, one as it should be the other far from the mark. This was sent back with little difference on the replacements arrival. Cheesey chips was my addition to the order. Cheese and bacon arrived on the chips......I'd ordered gammon? Those really cheap cheese slices was duly dumped on the now nearly cold chips, microwaved and returned to the table. The "chips" now resembled a soggy yellow/ orange limp mess. The Gammon and tomato had to segregated to save on contamination. Speaking of contamination the acid tongued duty mangers attitude at the table about the order being wrong which resulted in a huge huff, and her coment about a whole 20p that was over charged was unecessarily sarcastic and public her attitude was palpable. The duty manager K. Is a massive dissapointment & a grave disservice to everything the rest of the staff and company strive to acheive, promote and preserve. 10.05.22.

I give it 3 stars due to the staff otherwise it'd be lucky to get 1 star. Firstly if you're in a wheelchair, forget it and go elsewhere. This is only premier inn in Carlisle that is "accessible". What makes it accessible is a small lift type thing on the stairs for going down to the ground floor which is absolutely murder to use. There was also a weird smell about the place and found it extremely dated. The room was comfortable but the toilet was too high for a disabled person and the bath and bed were far too low. Food wasn't up to much either, I got a curry for £11 odd and I've had better micro meals from aldi. On the plus side though I couldn't fault the staff as they were nice and couldn't do enough for you. Price was decent too but won't be returning to this particular one for reasons outwith the control of staff. Place needs pulled down and replaced.

Me and my colleague had both medium rare stakes. His was very well done, mine was charred black to the point it was bitter. I asked for replacements and the supervisor showed up asking us straight with not as much as a good evening, why we have eaten from it if it wasn't good?! I explained we have not but we have had to taste it and I have shown that none was eaten as I could not swallow that. She left to ask in the kitchen "without any promises". Next minute her manager showed up, very angry asking us why did we made her 17 yo employee cry and why would we do that?! We have been more than calm and gentleman about this as this point and we explained we had no clue other than our bad stakes. Bottom line, watch out: Restaurant serving: very long waiting times Staff attitude: very poor, untrained and emotionally unstable Food quality: very bad (I'm too lazy to write about other incidents)

April 2022, Had a horrible experience with the receptionist. For whatever reason all my paperwork said I was staying here at J44 but in actual fact we were supposed to be at J42... The receptionist was not interested and very dismissive and basically didn't care for our struggle with a smile on her face. The main issue was with the phone. We tried multiple times across different hours of different days to phone to confirm bookings and they always rang out. When confronted on this she basically proved to us and admitted she mutes the phone... No care in the world, her justification is that she finds it more important to deal with those in person then it is to answer the phone. But my question to you would be, how many times do you mute it off and on until you decide to just leave it on? When we did finally get through to someone using a different extension they confirmed the booking hence why we were there in the first place... All round bad service unfortunately :( 2 years ago. We didn't have a great experience here... Car park spaces just about fit cars inside it. But if someone was to park next to you, it felt like, it would be practically impossible to get out without hitting their car... it became clear quickly why everyone was parking over two spaces... The "family wing" was a good five minute walk from the car park through the "quiet zone" too. Try getting through all that with little ones, luggage and stairs... We found marshmallows under one of the kids beds... No idea how long they had been there for but I'm glad we found it before our little ones did... The black out curtains didn't do to well blocking the light out from the top so the kids bed were still lit up... The bath was filling up faster than it was draining away so by the time I finished my shower the bathtub was half full... I felt like I was in a survival horror game, shower quickly or drown lol

Just a terribly laid out place. We had the need of a disabled access room... The room, while nice, was the farthest possible point away from reception, the entrance... Basically anywhere of use... We needed it for someone with mobility issues, how in the world is someone who can barely walk 10 feet without having to stop and sit down supposed to get to these rooms? It's unreal... The closest fire escape to the disabled rooms is down some steps... how does that even meet health and safety standards? How are people in wheelchairs supposed to get to it in an emergency? The attached restaurant and bar, again, look nice enough, but the prices are ludicrous! £3.95 for a bottle of beer, £5 for a glass of wine. The food? Tastes OK... Very limited selection, especially if you have specific dietary requirements. I went for the baked salmon as it was the only thing I could eat that didn't mention any dairy... Yet it came out covered in garlic butter. The portion was miniscule, being a thin fillet you could get from asda for £2.80 a small handful of soggy chips and a "salad" that consisted of two "shredded" lettuce leaves, 3 matchstick thin slivers of red pepper and two wedges of tepid tomato drowned in a vinaigrette. All of this for £12. Did it taste nice? Yes. Was it worth the £12 paid? Not by a long shot. The breakfast the next morning was just as bad. Firstly, the server who was taking our breakfast order wouldn't let us get a word in edgeways... asking "You want bacon? you want eggs? you want sausage?" before we could even reply... and when we finally said what we wanted, she still kept asking "You sure you don't want any eggs? etc..." And when the breakfast finally came out, half of it was over cooked, the black pudding my uncle got was more akin to a hockey puck than food, the sausages were black... the poached eggs were barely cooked and the plate was swimming in water, my scrambled eggs were cold... The ONLY redeeming feature to this place is the free WiFi. If you're looking for a premier Inn in Carlisle, you're Better off heading to The premier inn Carlisle Central North at the Gosling Bridge on Kingstown road... Much better food, much more reasonable prices.

Where do we start? First I order a drink, the same as I had in the bar before I sit down for dinner. 10 mins later they come over and say out of stock. I ask for a coke they bring over a Coke Zero, then tell me they don’t do full fat coke draft, even tho their menu says they do and posters in the bar. After dinner we went back to the bar for another drink, to which they had my Irish all drink that they said they didn’t have and they did have full fat coke. Next I ordered a plain cheese burger just burger and cheese is what I asked for. It had burger sauce in it, so had to scrape that off, hate it. My side of cheese garlic bread does not come out, I ask about it they yes Sorry I’ll go get it. It arrived after I had finished dinner piping hot, so basically they didn’t put it on the till. I would not have minded if they communicated with me. My friends mixed gill, well the chicken had a skin on it like it had been in the micro wave a few times. The sausage skin was so tough he just ate the inside of the sausage. The steak was more like a cheap flat iron steak not a rump steak for sure. I finished my main meal before my friend they, they came and asked to take my plate, now I know this is no posh restaurant but wait until we have all finished our meals please. It’s polite. While I’m on it, the second pint my friend ordered had absolutely no head on it what so ever, and a little flat and warm. So yeh if you want a just about eatable meal and can’t be bothers to walk 100 meters up the road to McDonald’s then go for it, next time we will be going to the Golden arches tho.

We had a great stay here. The staff are amazing and can’t do enough for you. We stayed in a Premier Plus room and it was great having a fridge and a coffee machine. I loved it! I’d definitely stay again.

The heater too small and not hot enough in winter. Dinner is everyday after at 6pm you cannot even have something before that. My doors does not have please do not disturb on it but my room has not been cleaned after 3 night. The stuff are amazing friendly but the hotel, food, entertainment, is questionable. And I just think such heater to small for such a big room

Lots of small issues, heater faulty in room, restaurant limited, reception not overly helpful. Not the usual experience.

Friendly staff, especially the night shift guy who went above and beyond. Pretty standard Premier Inn. Comfortable, clean rooms at a reasonable price. The meal deal offer is good value. I stayed here for 3 nights on business, food on night 1 ( Tuesday) was actually not bad but the second night, the wait was 45 minutes and the food from. It seemed like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite a while. The 3rd night normality returned and the food was not bad. Breakfast was great throughout my stay. Overall, not a bad experience.

What a place.. cheap, friendly with an amazing atmosphere! Lovely staff! I’d come back to Carlisle just for this place! Only one problem.. Your Saturday karaoke killed my voice off 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣🤣🤣

Walked in to find it too overcrowded. No where to sit and the tables that was empty was dirty and not cleared away from previous customers. Not only that but cafe staff just looked at us as if we had two heads. Won't be returning any time soon.

Went with friends for lunch. What a mistake. Two of us had the Christmas dinner at a whopping £15 a serving. Turkey tasted synthetic, gravy was glutinous, sprouts were frozen ones and were totally yuk, carrots were over cooked and one inch long at most, stuffing balls were just that, hard balls, roasted were soft and squishy. So three out of ten but meal was at most tepid so it was zero out of ten. I felt robbed today!
