You can't beat The Cally karaoke! And the atmosphere is great - we always end up talking to random people 😆

Two local women who did enjoy coming here for a pint on our own days off bar work with our other staff members , sat in here Thursday afternoon as usual spent abit of cash get on with the fella behind the bar and the two staffies well , went and done abit of shopping came back for one while we waited for our bus and the lady behind the bar was so rude ! I have drank in there plenty of times and I’m 25 years old and I look it I mean I don’t get id anywhere in Carlisle not even in supermarkets and then I’d me refused to serve me even though I’d be drinking in there all day ! Me and my staff won’t be coming back here very disappointing to be treated in such a way when the pub itself is lovely wasnt just that but she was only iding women and clearly doing it because she going off on one that she was busy and had no help and I even cleared all the glasses for her ! looked miserable and not what you want . Won’t be back after that service very dissapointed

Spent a bit of money in this place. Up here for 3 nts. On 3rd night sat got a pint of lager it had a few bubbles in but tasted flat. Went to get it changed they bored it into another glass told me it was okay. Obviously not to mouth fulls out of a £4.50 pint and left it. Not be using this place again

Staff and management are all to up themselves if the face fits

I been at this place before it was good but second time when going through security I went to the bar and asked for a drink they asked for my id again showed them my Portuguse National identify card( citezen card) they said they couldn’t accept because it has to be English they were really racist everywhere they have to accept it but they said by policy in there place it had to be English really racist

Friends were refused drinks saying they had enough. They weren't even drunk compared to some in the place.

Went in on Monday with shorts on with my mate had 10 pints between us so decided to go back in on Tuesday with shorts on and got turned away as there don’t allow shorts in pub. Bar manages attitude stinks hope your pub fails

The Caledonian is a traditional Carlisle pub on Botchergate, near the railway station. The main attraction is the price in a city where many pubs are charging £ 5 a pint, two pints of Birra Moretti for £ 7.20 is a real bargain these days. The landlord was friendly and welcoming, the regulars seemed like real characters and quite friendly, and the two Staffordshire bull terriers in the pub are placid and liked by the regulars. Obviously this isn't a pub for people who want fancy cocktails or DJs playing dance tunes, just a regular boozer that's great for people wanting a few pints.

Popped in for a drink during a visit to Carlisle. Great atmosphere, very reasonable prices and fantastic staff. Really appreciated them staying open till the end of the football.

We had a really tasty meal here, the local beers were 👍 great, the staff were friendly and helpful.

A group of 4 visited this establishment yesterday. Both the bar persons was rude and the language that come out of their mouths was absolutely disgusting. Myself and my partner run a very successful pub and if any of the staff spoke and swore at a customer like they did they would of been out the door before the disgusting words left there lips. No customer service skills whatsoever. Appalling

we had the best time here!! scared the locals with my kareoke but ace door staff the lady was lovely. and once you're in you're well looked after. definitely visit again next time I'm in Carlisle

Never again this pub is one not to visit its vile.... no atmosphere rude manager an staff,dirty, tired smelt of damp an mouldy Dogs roaming around pub barking. No entertainment other than sport on every television with very low music in the back ground. For a build up on a new year celebration is was terrible. Watered down vodka even though it was out of a sminoff bottle. Every time you went the bar they charged you differnt price, but it was the same round all the time total rip, Not a friendly pub stay away.

A large boozer close to Carlisle Station, when you walk in The Caledonian it feels old fashioned but the bar staff are friendly and the prices are very reasonable.

Great place for a nice reasonable priced pint

It’s funny I always think they’ll have a singer doing it. Start with a song,chat in between tracks, get the next singer up quickly with the music volume down a bit in between so people can hear to have a conversation and move on to the next one if they’re not ready and just make the whole thing flow a bit. Instead it’s like a glorified disco with no chat or singer running it and they fit folk singing in every now and then. Shame really but it was a nice guy running it and thanks to him for fitting me in for a song this evening.

I was having a goof night until some man came to me so I dodge him yet I get followed round the pub and kicked also had verbal abuse from them the door people did nothing yet I was told not to go back also my mother got barred for trying to keep them away from me and the person who did this to me was aloud to stay in the pub I explain everything that happened to me and I asked them to check cctv and they refused to wouldn't recommend going here for a drink and kareoke unless you want trouble for no reason and the door people not doing their job correctly

Had a cracking night in here last weekend with some work colleagues. Great atmosphere and excellent staff.

Great pub with excellent owners. 5 of us were throug from Coatbridge in Scotland (about 4 years ago). Tommy and Deb made us feel really welcome and Tommy even gave us a winning tip for the races. Going bàck on Tuesday. Might come bearing gifts of square sausage and Irn Bru 😊.

On main ‘pub strip.’ Visited on a late Saturday afternoon. There was a fair few people in mainly groups of men and couples. Football was on. Warm, friendly atmosphere. Other than Spoons, cheapest pint - two pints of Kronenburg for £5 something! Will definitely be back.

First night in there it cost £6.40 for a double gin and lemonade and a pint of fosters, the secound night it started at £6.40 then the next round was £6.80 and the next round was £7.50 all for the same drinks, how does that happen, i wont be going back there thats for sure.

I only had time to stop in for a quick pint here, but was very impressed. Pint of Kronenbourg for less than £3, well poured and nice tasting traditionally decorated interior, surprisingly large, Sports on the nice selection of TVs, decent toilet facilities…I’d struggle to complain. I’ll gladly visit again, hopefully even take in an evening as opposed to an afternoon to see the place in all it’s glory
