Thumbs in Gravesham

I ordered from Thumbs (I think it was Friday last week) cuz I was gonna have a pizza but the wait time was like an hour or more and I was RAVENOUS. So I decided on Thumbs. Just eat said it was going to be with me in 45 mins and I was like 'but I'm so hungry, waaah'. ANYWAY. My food literally turned up in like... 10 minutes. It was piping hot and absolutely delicious. I felt awful cuz I wasn't expecting it so soon so I hadn't sorted out a tip for the driver so decided to leave a review and get them next time. Big thumbs up for Thumbs. You see what I did there...

One of the best Chinese takeaway in Gravesend. The food is always piping hot, fresh, tasty & full of flavour! The staff are so polite and accommodating! I highly recommend the salt & pepper chips, deep fried mushrooms & onion rings as side dishes!

Absolute worse Chinese I’ve had. I’ve ordered before a good few times and it’s usually fine. Tonight, they served a slice of pork in our duck and plum to someone who doesn’t eat pork. Ordered a king prawn black bean and they give us a seafood one with no prawns and the person is allergic to shellfish but she didn’t care on the phone. Could have been a very difficult situation. Mixed starters were incorrect and over cooked the ribs were unedible. All meat In the food over cooked and chewy. They didn’t care when I rang, wanted to re deliver but I said we can’t as we are going to the theatre we can’t all sit down to eat again hence why we ordered early. When I asked to come and collect it and bring my money she suddenly had no drivers, but was able to give me new food very quickly in our conversation. Absolute liars and terrible service. Will never use again it was disgusting. The chips were cooked about 6 Times over. Food has gone to the foxes I bet they can’t stand it either. I wouldn’t write a review usually slating but the fact they lied and couldn’t be bothered to help

I am very particular about the food that I eat. I can honestly say that this is one of the best Chinese restaurant/takeaways that I have ever tasted. Always great produce, and very fresh. Also, the staff are very nice, friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

please do not order from this place,the food was absolutely discussing,we could not eat any of it,the noddles were burnt and dried,the food was not fresh at all. i call the restaurant and was told that no one else had complained,(HEARD IT) save your money and go else where,trust me the food is sh*t. no care ,no apologies no refund,we threw all the food away and went to kfc instead keep away from thumbs restaurant

Ordered pork chow mein and house special chow mein on Uber eats, food turned up in a reasonable time but the pork chow mein was totally devoid of any moisture, it was just like strands of rubber on the plate, couldn’t chew through the beef in the house special had to give up and spit it out in the end. Called the restaurant but they couldn’t be bothered in the slightest, they refused to either replace the food or give us a refund so now have complained to Uber eats. Do yourselves a favour, if you want a nice meal don’t order from here.

Friendly, helpful staff, always extra kind to kids. Great veg thai curries and veg chow mein. Excellent value. Speedy take away.

Absolutely awful experience from Thumbs. Ordered from Uber Eats, completely messed up the order. Phoned four times, and just kept saying ‘it’s on its way’. Over an hour later the missing food never arrived. Awful service, and will avoid in future. Don’t waste your money or time. Wish I read reviews first.

Never had one from here before and certainly won’t be having another both curry’s had more water than sauce the squid was burnt solid and all tasted of very old oil the smell gave it away

As our usual takeaway was not taking orders tonight, I thought we'd give Thumbs a try. Best take away we have had in ages!!!!!! Slightly dearer than usual but the food was absolutely fantastic, we will be buying from them again. Delivery service was very good, and very cheerful, just what you need in lock-down doldrums, made our evening, thank you.

Tried this place for large party meals,. X2 of us dining and take away,. Always nice, staff pleasant and never any issues.. thumbs up!!

If it were possible to give 0 stars, then I would have selected that option. I’m from a good few miles nearer to London, but was in the vicinity for a family member’s 50th. Granted, it was a Monday night, but no excuses for just how poor this Chinese food was. So bad was the food and subsequent reaction from the shop when we called, that I have felt compelled to leave my first ever review on this site. Some pictures attached but highlights include: - Crispy duck which came in a plastic container, off the bone and with no plum sauce or spring onions/cucumber. Pancakes were anaemic and cold - prawn/chicken balls were simply batter - chow mein was burned (as if cooked on an uncleaned wok) The above are some of the highlights. Simply put, really poor quality of salty tasting food and service which mirrors that. Avoid at all costs.

very dissappointed...we used to come here ages ago and the food and service was always good....the resturant has been renamed and had a makeover... The starters came out in dribs and drabs...and were not very hot...same with the second course - duck- the finger bowl consisted of a slice of lemon in cold water....we ordered 4 dishes with rice for main course - two dishes arrived with rice then we waited and waited for the other two dishes to arrive - in the end we asked where the remaining dishes were - they had been forgotten -and they arrived about 10 minutes later- by that time the rice was stone cold ..we asked for some more rice the waitress seemed unhappy to get us some fresh hot rice... All through our meal the phone was continually ringing - no one answered even though they were right beside the phone - i wanted to go and pick it up myself- then two of the staff were arguing that no-one picked up the phone! - dont bother ordering coffee it is really cheap instant stuff - will not be returning

The 'Thumbs' is hidden away in the Heritage area of Gravesend and is down one of the side streets. What first caught my eye was the all you can eat buffet but once in the restaurant It was made clear to me that it was for 2 or more people. So onto what I have instead, The Wall Tip, which is 6 dumpling, which were cooked to order and were delicious, I also went for the Hot & Sour soup, which arrived piping hot, and was full of content. My main meal was Singapore Fried Rice, with a small portion of curry sauce, and was hot, spicy and very plenty full. To drink was 1 pint of Stella on draught. Total cost came to £18.30 As I enjoyed my meal so much I went back the following evening and had exactly the same again at the same price. On my first night I was in the restaurant for well over an hour, which was my own doing, as I was so slow at ordering and also doing the usual trick of spending more time looking as your phone that what's going on around you. However during this whole time I was the only person eating in the place. Also worth remembering if you go on a Monday and pay cash you'll get a discount of 20% Hopefully if I get time again I might just fit a 3rd visit in. Such a great price, especially with the 20% off on a Monday. You have starters, then crispy shredded duco, mains and finally desert. We could not move afterwards and all unlimited.

I am a regular at Thumbs. There service is prompt and right on time. They are precise on you having your appetiser and starter and main and desert We went on a Sunday we had lunch there and it was an open buffet. The food was lovely and hot and very tasty I must say. Clean and lovely lit restaurant. Suitable for everyone. Love their decorations and simplicity. Highly recommend for everyone to go over 50 dishes and there is Japanese, Vietnamese and Chinese and another one can’t remember. The tea is lovely and soothing. Thank you Thumbs Staff

The all-you-can-eat buffet style was simple - choose what you want from the menu and it is cooked to order. Quite homely food. No atmosphere.

Terrible service, snapped my tooth on the “shredded” duck, got told the manger was in china when he was out the back

Thought this would be all you can eat buffet and that you helped yourself to whatever you wanted but you order from a menu whatever you want. You have 2 starters and then a choice of duck or pork. Then you choose your main dish followed by desert. The portions are of a good size and we were not disappointed. It was the best Chinese we have ever had and the service was excellent. Would advise to book if visiting on a weekend as gets quite busy. Restaurant also does take away. Fabulous.

I visited Thumbs on the 27th April with three friends, we were a bit cautious at first....That is until the food arrived. Wow! I have eaten many times in Chinese restaurants and had my fair share of Take-away's. The food thumbs was the best I have tasted and I will be using their takeaway service. The buffet has a slightly different order to what you normally expect i.e. take a plate walk around the dishes on offer and take what you you fancy. Thumbs prepares every dish to order so you remain seated and choose from the menu. Its important remember only order what you can eat. This isn't a pile it high and leave waste loads establishment. This is quality food made to order sit down and enjoy!

We ordered a takeaway (food ok but have had better) my gripe was with the customer service!

If you want an awful meal and a three hour wait between courses this is the place to go. The one waitress was totally unsure what to do and at one point tutted when we asked for another drink. The phone was ringing off the hook with people complaining about their takeaway delivery’s, Don’t go, not worth wasting your time and money.

Ive used Thumbs for delivery for a few months now so more of a regular, ordered last weekend and was told half hour/45 minutes which is fine. Hour and half went past nothing, so I called up to ask when I could expect it and was told they've tried to deliver several times and call me a few times which was in fact a lie. The 'manager' then put the phone down on me, kept putting the phone down on me when I called back, low and behold my order turns up shortly after. If you're going to lie at least make it a good one and as for keep slamming the phone down on me I wont ever use them again.

First time i tried them and wont be going back. A friend refereed them after saying how nice they were, i dont think of him as a friend anymore as he obviously knew how bad the place was and was pranking me.

Weren't really sure where to eat and just came across this lovely Asian restaurant. We had wonderful friendly welcome from the staff, inside was nice and comfortable and food was excellent. There is a choice of all you can eat buffet, or set menus, we chose the set menu and were not disappointed, they have an option to add an extra person, as we were a party of three it was perfect for us. Fantastic value for money. We had Chinese but there is a choice of Thai and Japanese.

Well what can you say the whole menu was a hit or miss, nothing in between ,s**t or great Also ordered Stella and dident get it it .so it gets a miss !!!!

First time I'd been here for years the Mrs how rarely likes Chinese said it was the best salt n pepper squid n the ginger king prawn was very good I enjoyed the starters the duck and Thai curry

GREEDY owner! Me and my 9-year-old daughter went there this afternoon for a nice meal just to be overcharged! It clearly says on their you website menu etc that kids under 11 year of age are being charged £9.50 so he charge my daughter same as adult when I paid the bill I realise what he's done so I went back and ask him did he charge my daughter as an adult but there was not much help of him he just Shrugged his shoulders so I didn't want to argue and we just left but with bad taste we won't be coming back to them anymore just up the road there is a better Chinese restaurant which we also use and we will continue with them from now on I won't be coming back there please check your bill before you pay

Where to start, we went for a meal here, just two of us, the restaurant was not busy, possibly five tables. It took 15minutes to get a drink to our table. The starters came out fine.

We've ordered from here a few times and been happy but this time the food was so very awful we won't be going back.

On arrival we waited 20 minutes to even be asked if he wanted a drink. With our mains, half way through eating a chicken curry the rest of the chicken was raw. When I eat half! I took it back and told them it's all raw! Then apologised. I thought by the end of the bill a drink would have been taken off at least for I had eaten raw chicken and been served it. I was told they can't give us money off. So with that I paid and left u very unhappy customer. Never will I go back. Now me and my family have been very poorly. Everyone dodge this place!

Went here with my son for his birthday we was the only ppl in there which was a bit unnerving, but the food was amazing freshly cooked for you the only thing was one of the restaurants Family their child was running about while we was eating our starters but he did soon get told off.

Went here for a meal with my partner,upon entering there was only one other couple seated.ordered drinks and starters and then it all began to go downhill.After finishing our starters we waited nearly half an hour before our second course came out,unknown to us the waitress was doubling as the delivery driver as well,customer service was totally non existent;people came in after us and left as there was no one there to take food or drink orders,there were too many Japanese dishes and not enough Chinese selections on menu and when food did come out it was mediocre,also restaurant family members were sitting behind us playing with children and making noise which was a bit unerring when your trying to eat and converse,would definitely recommend giving this a miss as there are better chinese all you can eat restaurants in gravesend ie wing Lee and twin dynasty

Ordered my first takeaway from here this evening, had a query with my bill as it said £5 off your first online order. Phoned them up as it didn’t come off the bill, the lady they put on the phone was so rude and just hung me up. Will not be ordering from here again.

Went here a couple of months ago with my husband.

I can’t deny how great value this place is to eat and the food is good quality. It’s all cooked to order which is a great touch compared to the buffet restaurants. My only problem I would say is customer service could be improved. They just need to be a bit more confident in their product because it is a good business very much needed in gravesend.

Me and my girlfriend always go here, the best Chinese food we’ve ever had! Satay chicken, egg fried rice, chicken balls and prawn crackers, get in my belly haha!
