I'm giving it two stars because the beers are good, the place is nice but really I've never eaten such a bad steak. I couldn't take more than two bites of my burger and my stomach hurt all day 😞

Toilet's stink! Come on guys clean them please. This means a lot especially when you eat here.

Warm atmosphere but was met with a 1 hour wait for food. Admittedly it was Christmas time but in general it did have a nice atmosphere and had plenty of seats to accommodate.

20 Nurses and Doctors enjoyed their work Christmas party here. We was well looked after by the team. Food was great and the drinks flowed. Thank you very much we will be back next year. Happy New Year to all the staff 🎉🍷

Went today for a trip from medway had a rubbish experience Food was cold fish was disgusting had a weird taste was told it was cod but was not and toliets was filthy

Me and my family went in here as it was the most affordable in the area and within the area we were visiting, but there were only a few tables left at around midday as there were alot of packed party bookings, so we were lucky not to wait too long. Others were told an hour to an hour and a half for walk ins. Had the offer of two for one on classic dishes, gammon, which was edible, but didn't have desert, this pub is a bit on the small side, but not too bad for a Greene King.

We were due to visit the Christmas market and wanted to find a dog friendly pub that served a Sunday roast. We chose the Three Tons not just for its good reviews, but also because their roasts were advertised for £9. We didn't have very high expectations, but how wrong we were! We opted for turkey (there was also beef) and when it was brought out the portions were plentiful, great roast potatoes (I'm very fussy about these!), a good selection of vegetables and it was all really tasty! We were a group of 5 and all our meals and drinks came to less than £60 - amazing value. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and I'd like to make a special mention of the young lady behind the bar who was working very hard but still gave us a very high level of service. They even cooked our (very fussy) dog a portion of chicken! Can't recommend this place highly enough.

A good city pub with many local customers. The beers are green king. This pub also serves very reasonably priced food. Each day appears to have a special low cost option from the main menu.

Had lunch here on a weekday. Warmly welcomed and attentive customer service throughout our visit. Enjoyed two meals for £12.99: the steak & ale pie slice & hunter's chicken. Both very good, hot & tasty. Highly recommended & would definitely return.

Visited Sat 9th Nov with friends for a birthday celebration, after visiting other local places, we arrived and the bar man/manager was so so rude! Asked for less ice in our drinks, but couldn't accommodate as that isn't how they are made! Literally wanted less ice, the rest of the ingredients can remain the same. His attitude was appalling and it was the case of him saying 'so do you want them or not' As it was for a friends birthday we continued with our order but was left feeling most uncomfortable. Reading other reviews and replies it seems they are from the General Manager Alun, who i strongly believe was the bar man to serve us as was dressed differently to the others- the other staff were friendly and fine. Ladies toilet was filthy and no toilet roll either, the floor was messy and it smelt terrible. A place to avoid.

The man behind the bar was rude when we asked for less ice then assumed we only wanted straws rather than glasses. It's a shame as it wasn't buy and I should imagine his attitude is the reason why. All other staff who interacted with myself and my friends were very lovely.

Visited today , went to order food and was told the grill was broken , when we asked does that mean no burgers? Was told we'll if you know how to fix a grill your welcome to try ! Then after finally getting served after a very long wait we were then told its over an hr for food and I'm just letting you know it could be longer so you don't moan after 55 minutes that you don't have your food , food finally arrived, decent food but very small portions! Requested some butter for my daughters corn on the cob and was told I can get you some in a minute but I've got a packed bar! It never arrived! Terrible service from rude staff

A real pub with pub food and pub beers. Exotic for a French person, comforting and comfortable. I feel comfortable in this place!

I should lead with the fact that I am not a difficult customer and this is the first negative review I have ever left. Booked for two and arrived on time on a quiet Monday evening at 7pm. Waited for the person in front to be served and then expected to be greeted but instead ignored while a guy pushed in with an order for 6 or 7 drinks. Eventually acknowledged to find that they hadn’t been notified of the booking- it was done that afternoon via the Greene King app. Told to take a seat anywhere and order at the bar. Did as asked, found a table, and decided what we were eating. About 10 minutes later, went to the bar to be told that there was a 45 minute wait for food! The place was virtually empty. Needless to say, we left without ordering. Why they couldn’t have explained with the wait when we entered was beyond me. Just poor customer service. We went elsewhere and had eaten our main course by the time we would have expected to have our food arrive there. There are plenty of places to eat in Canterbury, so this place needs to do better at communicating if it wants to compete.

Update. We've been back to this pub many times when we visit Canterbury. It continues to offer great value for money, good service and an awesome pub atmosphere. The food continues to be brilliant value for money especially the buy one get one free offers. The review below was from along time ago so I thought I'd update. This pub is fantastic. They are taking all the necessary Covid 19 precautions and we felt totally safe there. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food and drink were very tasty and well priced. We will definitely be coming back on our next visit to Canterbury.

Easily the best pub in town; arguably the best in Kent. The food is always top notch, and value for money is fantastic in this economy. Meals are always large potions, hot and delicious and the service is speedy. Could not reccomend more, a must visit for lunch, Sunday roast or a quick pint.

We visited with friends recently for a quick catch up and a bite to eat. The food was great, well priced and large portions. Drinks offers were great, and the beers were a lot cheaper than other places in town. Staff were great, very helpful... all in all a great experience and definetly would return again

Nice pub/ restaurant looking tired. Place needs a good clean as a lick of paint . ( dirty marks on radiator) and some furniture needs reupholstering .

Fòod pretty average but it is a pub. Costs are reasonable BUT meal service is very slow. Not that busy for a Friday lunch time

We had a drink before ordering dinner. When we went to order we were told abruptly the kitchen was closed at 7.50pm as they had a large party come in. It would had been polite to announce the kitchen would close and give people a chance to order food. Quite a number if people were turned down for a food order.

Ok pub, few mins stroll from cathedral, right by shops. Lots of seating, dog friendly. Mediocre food - cheap and nasty to some, cheap and cheerful to others. But an ok pub overall. Very close to whitefriars car park.

Our first visit to Canterbury and decided to eat here for the first evening with not a huge expectation. Well, yes it’s pub grub but it’s very nice pub grub and arguably the best pub grub meal I’ve had. As a couple we both had the same (hunters chicken) and it was something like £12.49 for both meals. Outstanding value! The venue is nice with lots of different areas to eat which made it feel more personal too. My only discrepancy was that my fist pint was a bit flat which I know can happen. The second was from a different pump and much better. Definitely worth a visit!

Enjoyed a lovely delicious dinner and drinks for a fraction of a price you would pay somewhere else, staff were so nice and attentive came over a few times to ask if the meal was ok and if we needed anything else,simply a great experience and would definitely come back

We had a great experience, although the price of drinks seemed high,it was the going rate for the area,and as when I first started drinking it was 12.5p a pint two and sixpence was the norm.Nicely decorated, and the menu looked interesting, well worth the visit.

We didn't eat here as the service was very slow,may have been staffing issues....

The Three Tuns was recommended to us for lunch by athe lady we sat next to in the Marlow theater. So we thought we would try it.

Relaxed feel to this pub great deals yummy food we got given a pub voucher for our wedding so we thought we use it here will be coming back.

Went to watch Australian Football State of Origin Gane 3 the decider and it was great. My team won and the staff where very helpful with getting the game sorted for us on Sky Sports. Great venue

This is our go to pub for our pre show drinks before we head to a show at the Marlowe and although we have to walk past the theatre from the station to get there we found that it is one of the cheapest pubs in Canterbury. A lovely comfortable pub in a friendly environment especially from the bar staff, they were excellent by the way and very welcoming, had plans to visit for something to eat after the show but my friend felt unwell. Food looks good and plenty and the menu very reasonable on prices so will definitely be eating before our next show in September. A great range of beers and ales on tap too.

Great pub good food amazing staff We were there on England game place rammed staff worked their socks off well done to the barman Sean had to deal with extremely rude young lady dealt with situation calmly and professional had a great evening the staff are all welcoming and so efficient

Stayed at the Hampton inn in Canterbury (nightmare too find in a car), and was looking for somewhere to eat, the Three Tuns was just a short stroll away so we thought we would eat there, what a great choice this was, the food was inexpensive and the quality was very good, there was a friendly atmosphere and the two guys running things could not have been nicer (sad I never got there names, but one gentleman was Irish and the other had red hair and glasses). We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

Great spot for Sunday roast. Amazing deal with nicely sized portions. In the centre of Canterbury. We were really full afterwards and will definitely come back.

Overcharged on Senior meals. And then main course took an hour to arrive (after a prompt). Food and beer were good, but the meal service far to slow without communication!

I like this city centre pub. The main bar area is roomy. Then there are little alcoves and quiet areas to sit and chill with your drink. There's a nice conservatory out the back and a large paved garden area.

Excellent pub, just off the high street. Excellent food at a very good price.

My husband and I were down for Canterbury pride very friendly staff nice atmosphere and great prices for Canterbury too we had a meal and we both enjoyed the food will definitely go back when we are down again

Nice local pub with plenty of seating areas. They also have a good menu with a special deal for senior citizens. Be aware though that last orders were at 10.30pm. **UPDATE** Have now noticed that they have a GLUTEN FREE MENU as well as the regular menu.

Despite the volume of customers the staff were patient efficient and polite. Food was basic but good value and seating was comfortable.

Choose this place for a quick drink. Not a bad venue. Good and quick service. I like the ambience and positive vibes.

Give it a try is all I can say We called in on the afternoon of Thursday 9th May. Greeted by the man behind the bar with a warm relaxing smile, it was not busy by any means just a couple of gents and a young girl in the bar area We decided to give the very inexpensive seniors meal deal a shot and we were glad that we did 3 courses were great value and everything cooked to perfection. It's rare in this day and age to find somewhere that offers such great value and not only that it's served with a smile by someone who knows what customer service is all about.. Please pass on our greatfull thanks to the person on duty behind the bar and also to the kitchen staff.. We look forward to calling in on our return to Canterbury.

SHOCKING FOOD AND SERVICE Me & my partner visited this pub on Sunday lunchtime it was about 12.30, all we wanted was a roast dinner, the roast beef turned up and I asked for mint sauce, the reply was sorry we’ve not got any so then I asked for horseradish sauce the reply was sorry we’ve not got any and then I noticed I’d been over charged for drinks so had to get a refund and then the roast beef turned up, I left all the roast beef as it was a plate of fat which I couldn’t even get my knife through so I complained to the barmaid and I was offered a £4 refund. All I wanted was a nice meal with my partner and it never happened and the refund was just an insult, will never step foot in a green king pub again.

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime very buay as many patrons were watching Liverpool v West Ham, didnt eat as food wait was 45 mins+ good atmophere though.

Nice spot off the high street. We had dinner there twice with both meals being very good. The staff is very friendly and the service was good.

It used to be a nice pub, which did food, now seems a cheap copy of Witherspoon but not at their prices. Ordered a pint, I could see the glass was dirty, and asked if I could have it in a clean one, totally ignored, and served in dirty one, will not be going back in a hurry, plenty of decent pubs in Canterbury.

Brilliant afternoon spent in the Three Tuns with friends and family. Food is reasonably priced and what we ordered was delicious. The bar staff were very attentive, even after coping with a huge influx of students that had arrived unexpectedly . Would highly recommend a visit!

Arranged to meet some friends for a few drinks some food and a catch up so glad we chose the Three Tuns the staff were extremely welcoming and served us straight away even though they were very busy with a large amount of students. The locals were very friendly and helped create a great atmosphere. After a few drinks we ordered some food which was fantastic and great value for money. If I lived in Canterbury i would use this as my local. It’s a great pub with extremely friendly helpful staff was a fantastic afternoon will definitely be back. Well done Three Tuns.

As always when visiting the pub, we are met with polite and friendly staff, who provide an excellent service throughout. The food is always of quality & very much value for money, which n this day and age, is not often said. I will continue to go back & enjoy the visits there I’m sure.

Wonderful cheap lunch spot in Canterbury with brilliant deals Unless they take in large groups of students whilst you sit and decide what to eat and find that they are prioritising students not regulars . Kitchen closed suddenly so off to feed ourselves unwillingly elsewhere Won’t stop using of course just surprised and hungry as I love the food and atmosphere

Lovely place! Come in frequently for a few drinks or food. Paul is always so polite and welcoming. Consistently checking to make sure everything is okay even when extremely busy. Always a great atmosphere :)

A good menu, with reasonably priced food and efficient staff. Totally let down by the Gents toilet! Very, very smelly, broken locks on cubicle doors led to my husband having to do his business sitting on the pan and with his leg stretched out to hold the door closed! Really not what we expected from a Green King establishment

Very welcoming pub, amazing food at reasonable prices. Only one man working the bar and tables who was very pleasant and helpful despite being on his own on a busy lunchtime. Cannot fault the place at all. Really pleased after a bad experience elsewhere last night. We will definitely be back before we go home!
