A good sized Costa in the heat of Canterbury and with a chill out by the upstairs window if you can get a seat. As with everywhere in Canterbury, it can get very busy here.

Lovely spot for having an afternoon coffee!

Generally a really good coffee shop for all sorts! Good variety's, nice coffee and other food related items. Lots of seating upstairs and downstairs. Sometimes it can get crowded in the line to order or to wait, it's all a bit cramped with the staff door there as well disasters can happen. Sometimes tables are left for a while before being cleaned or left with crumbs over them, and some of the staff don't always deliver a service with a smile. However, normally a go to spot, service is definitely quicker than Nero's and the coffee is better than Starbucks.

Very, very busy Costa. Staff are attentive and mostly keep on top of the mess. Just be a little patient. Had a lovely vanilla and coconut latte, extra hot. Lots of people were having the milkshakes....Will try one next time.

It's your typical chain. The staff are friendly but it's overpriced. I brought a hot chocolate milkshake, which is honestly just a hot chocolate with a straw. Not sure what else I was expecting 😅

The food is tasty and hot. I always have a vanilla chai, and it's delicious. Staff are exceptional, assisted me with the door, helped to select the food option I wished for, and then brought my drink and sausage bap over to me due to myself being in a wheelchair. Outstanding service, and I will definitely come back. I wasn't made to feel a burden or annoyance (which I can, in other establishments.) thank you, Costa whitefriars canterbury.

In the CANTERBURY COSTA management have grossly covered the ENTIRE front window with a massive stick on poster preventing any way to look out onto the street and vice versa - it's the most uninviting thing I have ever seen on their window. Completely brings the mood down. I'll remove the low rating when you take that atrocity off the window.

A bit disappointed with the hot chocolate but all the other drinks were perfect.

All of the staff were behind the counter. No-one cleaning tables. There were no vacant tables that were not in need of clearing so did this ourselves. The toilet was in serious need of cleaning. Hot drinks not exactly hot at all. Certainly not up to the standard for Costa Coffee.

Having revisited. The service in general is good. However, I ordered a Cortado which clearly the person hadn't made before as it simply wasn't a Cortado. In general it's not a bad place to come for some work too.

Great toasties are great, but very limited for vegetarian and vegan options. As always coffee is great and plenty of dairy free products to choose from

I like Costa it's consistent and reliable for my preferences. I do enjoy their chocolate Tiffin!

On a mini break to Sussex and Kent we were enjoying our first full-day in Canterbury. We spend most of the morning wandering around taking in the sights, in what was glorious weather. It became too hot, so we needed refreshments, preferably something cool and reinvigorating. I suggested to my Partner that we should call at a Costa and have iced drinks, as I had done before in another branch. So, for me it was the ‘Mango and Passionfruit Cooler’ and for my Partner it was an ‘Iced Coffee’. My Partner joined a moderate queue, whilst I looked for a table. The downstairs area was very crowded and noisy. So, I agreed with my Partner that I should go upstairs to see if it was quieter. Fortunately it was and I found a table away from the windows (where hot sunlight was streaming through). The table was one of two that were on a platform, on the same level as the first floor, right above the stairwell. This was very convenient for me to keep an eye open for my Partner, who soon arrived with drinks. The drinks were great, even bearing in mind that I managed to get ‘brain freeze’ because I took too big a mouthful of the cooler. The coffee was good too and we left feeling most refreshed.

It's ok, latte's need an extra shot, bit expensive for what it is

Could have been cleaner but it was very busy and staff were rushing like crazy to fulfil orders, so that would probably explain the sticky tables.

The best Costa around. Catherine and her team are always really polite. The place is always clean and they all seem to know what they are doing. Great service.

Nice clean costa staff very nice and helpful

I was served by Negarin and she was very helpful and greeted me with a lovely smile. She had the order sorted in minutes with everything in place. She made the visit a pleasant one as she has such a lovely manner about her.

Quick service nice hot chocolate, shame oat milk is charged extra, as Pret do not charge extra, but that didn't really detract too much from the experience, we both had hot chocolate on a trip out shopping.

Good Costa with plenty of outdoor seating

סניף גדול ונעים ומעוצב בטוב טעם, באזור יפייפה. יחסית למה שהזמנתי (רק קפה), יצאתי מרוצה. יש תור משמעותי בקופות, מה שקצת מרתיע. ישבתי בקומה הראשונה, בקומה הראשונה היה יותר עמוס ורועש. בקומה העליונה היה שקט יחסית ורגוע וגם היו לא מעט מקומות ישיבה פנויים ונוחים. השירותים נקיים. סה"כ חוויה טובה וקפה טעים.

Belive it not my wife order hers and mine she asked for white hot chocolate I had the normal but when it arrived mine had been standing o the sidewalls your batista was doing so many at a time .when she finally got around to giving us our drink they we were almost cold for the price I would ask that ne t time mine is hot

Great place for coffee and cake.

Music was personally too loud for my taste as I had gone here to have a few online meetings which was difficult with the music volume. Great coffee. Great customer service. Attentive and professional. Tables were cleared and cleaned regularly. I was here for just over 2 hours. Pleased with the cleanliness. Comfortable seating, good breakfast deal of a drink and croissant or toast. Nice and warm too.

Best coffee lot better than starbucks!

Just my favourite coffee shop at any time of day. Like to sit and watch the world go by either inside or out . Can get busy but well worth the wait. Always have a good food selection and some early day time offers.

Poor customer service. Myself and family experienced indirect racism. Would not recommend this coffee shop. The place was unclean and dirty.

Disappointing to find the Christmas Special Toblerone Hot Chocolate is nothing but a boring, bland hot chocolate with some glitter on top and a mini Toblerone on the side. The drink alone has no flavour even resembling Toblerone. Token effort riding purely on two big brands coming together.

Was quite busy when we visited so had to wait a while to be served. My disabled son needed the toilet, the disabled toilet is downstairs however you need to get it unlocked. All staff were behind the till so had to wait quite some time. They have an upstairs with a lot more seating and two toilets. Unfortunately the toilets were not clean and I didn't see any floor staff cleaning anywhere. Wouldn't advise to visit during busy periods. May have been a bit different If they were not so busy, who knows, but I won't be visiting there in a hurry.

Coffe is ok.... however the toilet was so filthy.... They have some sort of password to access toilet so it's only customers using it... but isn't maintained....

Standard overpriced coffee shop

Toilets were really bad, should have been closed for safety reasons. There was poo all over the floor , on the toilet brush which was also just on the floor smeared everywhere and the smell was so bad. It was the only toilet working out of the two and staff were aware. Would not go again, kind of nervous as to what their other hygienic areas are like.

Pretty quick service even during the busier times.

Was absolutely delicious just like always. Just a shame the Ruby Hoy Chocolate won't be selling anymore. Thus was my absolute favourite drink in Costa.

Filthy premises. Tables sticky and not cleared, unemptied ashtrays, dirty, littered floor. Sloppy, slow service. Staff didn't seem to know if they were taking orders, preparing orders or both. Was waiting in a long queue and was disgusted and made to feel sick, watching the young man who was serving behind the counter, putting most of his fingers in any cups or blender jugs he was using, rather than holding the vessels by the handle, and then engaging in a lot of mouth wiping, nose rubbing and brow swiping with the same fingers. It made me feel so queasy, thinking of the germs he was spreading, that I left without purchasing anything on this particular occasion. To be honest, this particular branch of Costa is always pretty dirty, with uncleared tables. Such a shame you closed your other Canterbury High Street branch!

Rude young man denied me and a father with a very young child from using the upstairs toilets when there was over an hour before closing. After asking nicely, he replied 'no' and just stated at us. So unprofessional and impolite. I've worked these jobs before, if toilets need closing then you at least point the customer in the direction of the nearest open loos. Where is the management here

The coffee here is fantastic, and having the Costa card gives a free coffee after buying 6 coffees. It's worth it.

The service was good and quick, the coffees Upton Costa's usual high standards and out toasties were very good. The shop was clean and we were fortunate to find a clear, clean table during a busy period.

Clean and lovely staff but ice machine never seems to work

I had a great time at costa coffee in whitefriars, the wait time was really short and the staff who served me, Molly, was really friendly and I had a nice conversation with her. Staff like Molly make me want to return there again and overall I’m very happy with my experience.

Coffee was above average for costas. Only thing that let it down was the dirt and splashes on the wall! Whose bright idea was it to use matt paint that isn't wipe clean? Silk would at least be wipe clean.

Went for a coffee. Standard good as in all Costa coffee shops.

Sat upstairs to watch the pride parade. Perfect spot, staff were good and proactive even being very busy with orders. Which in other ways made it very difficult to understand orders. Would have been better with names or a number system. I would have ordered via the click and collect on the costa app if it was available in this store. 2 brownies and 2 medium frappes costing £13.10. Which is not so bad but I would have preferred being able to check on prices of things before spending it. The TV menus aren't always great to see with some eyes

Sadly the two ladies at the till were rude and unhelpful to me and my daughter as a result I just did not bother to look around. These kind of people spoil the experience for others and give the company a bad reputation. Very sad indeed. The cold drinks were OK.

Nice drinks as always but the staff were not the greatest this time. They did not listen to what we were ordering very well. And had to correct our order while they were making the drinks which lead to delays.

Busy Costa, but clearly understaffed. They shouod have a member of the staff that goes frequently upstairs as students make.a.mess wherever they go. On top of that, seeing a 5min queue everytime I go there, puts me off when I want to buy coffee. Size wise, and look it one of the most visually impressive costa in the nation. But more work needs to be done.

One of the worst Costa's we've visited. Service was incredibly slow and staff didn't seem interested in customers. One of the servers was coughing all over the place. While we were waiting for our drinks a lady brought her toastie back and complained there was a hair in it. The girl serving said 'That's okay, would you like a new one?' NO that is not okay. There was no apology from the staff to the customer. Half the staff have their hair in ponytails and their hairs so long its waving about over food and drink. Put a hair net on or put your hair in a bun. We visited the toilets while we were there, they hadn't looked liked they'd been cleaned recently, extremely dirty and bins overflowing and there was no toilet paper, we walked back out. Tables and chairs were dirty. Hygiene doesn't seem great here. We generally like Costas but this one was a huge let down.

I can only assume they were previously been very busy, as some tables had not been cleared or wiped. Not sure if there coffee is normally Luke warm as I preferably have it at a higher temperature. I have not used this chain for a long time. Say that the staff serving were friendly enough.
