Absolutely top. Comfortable, modern accommodation and great food. So good that we dined there twice, and took friends. Yummy breakfasts, too. Matthew is both a creative chef and a welcoming, genial host.

We came here for the early bird menu and were extremely pleased with everything. The meals were superb - there was no compromise on quality or portion size. The staff were so genuinely warm and friendly. The ambience was subdued and mellow. The menu for the early bird menu changes weekly, so we have every reason to make coming here a weekly event.

We had hoped to drop in for a drink and possibly a meal but the whole place was closed for a wedding. I understand this but it would have been so much better if there had been a notice on the door. A very rude member of the serving team left me feeling incredibly uncomfortable and embarrassed which was just unnecessary as we did nothing wrong. The bar up the road at the Three Rivers campsite is lovely

We visited with family and were a 5 cover. We all had the 3 course set menu priced at £22 each. The food was quite comfortably high end restaurant quality. All of us cleared our plates on all courses. Everything was cooked perfectly, and full of flavour. Pub restaurants can easily fall into the trap of pre cooked food, but not here. Well worth a visit and fantastic value. I would give more than 5 stars if I could.

Immaculately clean rooms. Delicious food. Look for dinner, B&B deals which are great value. Would be nice to have a few more menu options on the inclusive dinner, B&B menu. Breakfast table sometimes looked a little sparse. For these reasons would give 4.5 if we could. I hope this establishment thrives because it is wonderful on the whole! We hope to come back sometime!

Two of us visited for lunch in August 23. Warm welcome and service throughout the meal. Relaxed, quiet bar area where we sat. Good wine selection and well kept beers. Very good food with a good choice for vegetarians. The cod goujons were the best version of fish and chips I've had in years. Recommended

This place is up there with the best. My wife and i stayed on a Sunday on bed and breakfast. Our room was away from the main pun in a block of 3 rooms which were spotless and well equipped. Even had coffee bags for the filtered coffee experience. The restaurant does serve from the main menu as well as the Sunday lunch one. We had the chicken breast with veg and Madeira sauce. It was superb. The breakfast the next morning is made with quality ingredients and was again superb with filter coffee being served. To sum up, this place sets the standards for a night away from the grind of life, highly recommended.

Booked this stay almost a year in advance for a wedding we were attending at Gisburne Park Estate (about a 15-20 min cab ride). We were given a warm welcome on arrival, and shown to our room straight away, which was lovely. Small, but clean and beautifully decorated. Lots of amenities, kettle, tea and coffee, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, some toiletries, a dressing table and full length mirror AND a light up mirror in the bathroom which was a god send for doing my make up. We had a few drinks in the bar which got quite lively about 7pm - I’d definitely suggest booking a table if you wanted to eat there. Absolutely no criticism about breakfast both mornings. You get a choice of cooked breakfast, plus you can help yourself to cereals, yoghurts and pastries too. The staff we interacted with both mornings and in the evening were all super friendly and smiley which was lovely. Our only gripe with the entire stay was there was a green light in our room (I’m assuming was some sort of alarm) which was brighter than the sun and meant our room wasn’t pitch black, and to make it worse it reflected off the mirror which was next to my head 🤣 - not sure if anything can be done about this or if it affects all rooms but if you do struggle to sleep when it’s not pitch black then definitely bring an eye mask!

Excellent food and service! A must go to in the Ribble Valley. Booked last minute. Lovely and warm place nicely decorated with cheerful staff. Large menu with specials. Had the seafood tapas which was amazing and tasty followed by the slow roasted belly pork. Absolutely delicious and enough pork for 2 people to be honest. Massive portion of cheeses for 1 but again enough for 2 people. Will definitely go again as soon as we can

This restaurant is a lovely place for all types of food at lunch time, sandwiches, 2 or 3 course fixed price, a la cart and specials of the day. All the menu items can be made gluten free if required the waitress says, as it’s all made fresh. Food was great as was the service. I’ll be trying it in the evening next. The website is it’s only downfall, it’s out of date and does not show all the menus and options. I know people who have been put off going because they could only see the a la cart menu on the website.

Visited for Sunday Lunch as a couple. Thankfully there was a table as the online booking system doesn’t connect to the paper diary. There were three courses for £30 and I have to say the celery and blacksticks blue soup was very tasty, just a shame it was served by a member of staff who looked like she wanted to be anywhere but working in the restaurant! The roast beef was cooked well and whilst the sticky toffee pudding was heavenly the apple crumble was tasteless.

Was just a bit disappointed that the room was overlooked by the cottages in front. I went last night 10.12.19 for a Xmas party. We had preordered our food. My soup was good but when my main meal came it was not what I ordered - when I commented that I’d preordered sea bass I was almost shouted at and told that there was non left and that there was only turkey! The attitude of the waitress was appalling and it spoilt the rest of the evening. Later a musical group came in to play and sing to us but this was also spoilt because the waitresses were banging plates and rushing to clear the tables making such a fuss pushing past and into the musicians. They were so rude and not at all friendly it was like they couldn’t wait for us to leave! We decided to stay here as we were attending a wedding in Clitheroe, we only booked it as it looked a nice place to stay and to make it easy to get to the wedding venue. So what a pleasant surprise it was to us that it was a lot more than just a room for a night, everything was absolutely perfect, firstly on arrival we were met and made to feel really welcome in a small but cosy little pub, after a drink we were shown to our room which was in a separate building no more than 10 metres-away, the room was out of this world, clean, cosy and a fantastic bathroom, also we had our own key which meant we didn't have to worry about getting back for a certain time.Unfortunately we had not booked a table to eat as we knew we would have food at the wedding, but from what we saw it looked superb, but we did eat breakfast the next morning and again like everything here it was excellent. And lastly the staff were so friendly and helpful nothing was to much trouble, its just a pity we live so far away but if were ever in this area again i would not hesitate to stay again, a truly fantastic place.

Booked a room for 2 nights and was hoping for a room with windows looking over the countryside, the photographs on the website which I booked on showed lovely bright airy rooms in a building separate to the restaurant. What I got was a room in the original part of the Inn, across the yard, up a flight of steps and along a decked pathway and through a very low door. The room was clean and bright, newly painted and carpeted. Very tastefully decorated with dressing table and single wardrobe, wall mounted television and a selection of lighting options. A fully stocked hospitality tray was also available. The windows were high up on the walls, there was no view at all. Had I been staying longer that 2 days, im afraid I would have asked to be moved as it was quite claustrophobic. The bed was very firm, almost to the point of being uncomfortable. The pillows were very firm but after a request for softer ones, they were fine. Considering the windows couldnt be opened, the room had quite a lot of insects in it. The en suite bathroom was very well equipped, soft fluffy towels and quality toiletries. The rainfall shower was very relaxing....again no windows but a powerful fan was installed.

The first thing to say is that the food here is amazing. We had the trio of pork and the Goosnargh chicken breast and they were cooked to perfection. Where the Millstones loses a star is in its complete lack of ambience. The dining room retains many of the features of the old pub but it is lit like a motorway service station. Despite there being lamps around the walls and on the window sills, the only lights in use were the spots in the ceiling, nor was there any heating on a chilly night and the large woodburning stove went unlit. Another worry was the absence of any sort of management. There were two teenage girls on duty who provided excellent service, but they were clearly eager to pack up and leave and began cleaning up while there were still people dining. So, a great place for food but not for an intimate dinner.

Out for a drive, we came across this lovely place and called in for lunch on a bitterly cold day. I found the menu a little restricting as I am vegetarian, but the saviour is always Cheese and Onion pie, of which I have become quite an expert! This was the best I have had anywhere...piping hot, mouth watering pastry and three cheeses. Vegetables and chunky chips were delicious too. All served with a smile in a lovely setting. The waitress told me that the chef would have accommodated me if I had told them I was veggie, but that pie did the job...no need for alternatives! Will certainly visit again...if only for that pie!

Stayed here whilst attending a wedding reception close by, lovely purpose built room with a wet room ensuite which had a large rainfall shower. Very comfortable king size bed. Breakfast was excellent including the coffee. Well worth a visit!

Arrived mid afternoon as we were going to an evening reception at nearby Eaves Hall. Although we had booked a downstairs room, we were told that the upstairs room with a bath was free. So we upgraded. It was worth it for the view, the large bathroom and the large TV in the foot of the super king sized bed. For breakfast e had cereal and then a lovely full cooked breakfast. We couldn't fault any aspect of our stay and would recommend staying to anyone who is in the area.

We used to visit the 3 Millstones years back on a regular basis and returned mainly due to the fact we could book online. Busy schedules meant that no one was able to ring at a point when it would be answered etc and the online booking was swift...easy and gave me back time in my day.It was a reduced set menu catering for a typical mother's day lunch...think roast dinner and a hearty pud.The service was impeccable. We were a fairly large party (7) and we were seated immediately and our drinks order taken. We were given sufficient time to review the menu, weren't left too long but long enough to enjoy small talk with family over the menu options. Once ordered, food was served not too quickly but not too long either...what you'd expect for a freshly prepared lunch for a party of 7The food was lovely...roast dinners are rarely epic on busy days such as mother's day but everyone enjoyed their food and there were no complaintsPudding was good...there was a strange option of upside down passionfruit cheescake with brownie, strawberries and honeycomb which i had thought was 2 separate desserts...not the case. I couldn't get my head round all that for one dessert but mother did and she thoroughly enjoyed it.All in all a truly lovely venue, fabulous service and food and we'll definitely go back on a not so busy major date to experience the a la carte menu

Visited here today March 22 for lunch with friends. They had called recently and wanted to take us to their new Find. How pleased they did!Warm and friendly, terrific atmosphere, plus a super varied menu. Our lunch was delicious, we chose from all over the place on the menus, but hey, that's no problem. We had a few chips remaining, so I had extra bread and made a chip butty to finish. Mmmmmm! Yummy. Not driving today so took advantage and sampled a very pleasant red wine.Absolutely no doubt we will be returning.

We visit the 3 Millstones regularly now and have always had a really positive experience. Last weekend I had a lovely cod loin which was served on a bed of creamed potatoes with a tasty sauce.A large side dish of vibrant, colourful veg appeared along with a tub of fresh crisp hot chips which made a scrummy meal. My husband had fish pie which he said was lovely and tasty and we shared the veg. Preferring a pudding to a starter we missed that but were served with a complimentary dish of lovely warm bread to nibble on whilst we waited. My husband had a pudding which he said was lovely and I had a cappuccino which was hot and delicious. The service was spot on and the venue is cosy, welcoming and intimate. My only suggestion for improvement would be a chicken dish on the menu which is missing and quite popular I would think. I would enjoy that addition.

Eight of us and a baby invaded this homely, comfortable, ex-country pub turned restaurant on a Saturday evening. Service was great from the start....welcoming and efficient. Drinks came straight away. Starters arrived after wait you would expect for freshly cooked food, all at once and hot. We all enjoyed our starters - everyone's looked excellent but I would say that you MUST try the temura tiger prawns with pickled veg.....perfectly cooked, juicy prawns in light tempura balanced perfectly with the veg.Mains came out together...again with the same excellent service. Again everyone enjoyed their food. I had rump steak which was perfectly cooked and a fair sized portion - too much for me I had to share it. Sides were plentiful and well cooked. The duck seemed especially good and perfectly pink. Clean plates all round!! We will be back for more.

Our first visit here this year and pleased to say the standard of meal hasn't slipped although a bit disappointed that we didn't get any of their delicious chips today. Great game pie and my wife was delighted with her sea bass.Pleasant, friendly and efficient staff add to the dining experience.

We have eaten lunch here 5 times in the last twelve months and each time we could not fault the quality of the food or the service. Excellent pheasant this time and the chips are some of the best we have tasted in a restaurant. Delicious deserts. Really enjoyed the crumble and the almond and apple bake took me back to my mothers kitchen when growing up. This restaurant is consistently good and the beer is also very good. A great thank you to all the management and staff. Will be back again in 2017.

We decided to drive out and get a Sunday lunch rather than cook and made a very good choice in the Three Millstones. Well priced two or three course lunch menu with a nice selection for all tastes. All the touches you'd expect from a country inn serving a hearty but not too stodgy lunch. We sat next to a lovely burner keeping the room warm and staff were very down to earth and friendly. Food all nicely cooked. Think we might have brought the average age down a decade or two but that's completely by the by! There's a really nice atmosphere where staff know many regulars by name but not being one of those you are still not made to feel out of place and welcomed warmly. I'd echo the point about booking on the website - we did it as it was early Sunday morning but there was no record of our booking when we arrived. Thankfully they were able to fit us in. Use the old fashioned phone to make a reservation. Will certainly go back and try the evening menu.

Sunday lunch was excellent, lovely environment with food that was well presented in a modern style and tasted delicious but be warned do not book online through their website. We did and when we arrived after making a one hour journey especially for this meal they had no record of our booking, luckily they could accommodate us and didn,t keep us waiting too long. They also need to update their website as prices are actually higher than show, £16.95 for 2 courses not £15.50 as advertised. Never the les we will definitely return but but book old style by phone next time

Walked in after a 4 hour drive today, didn't know the place, never seen it before and just wanted a drink before driving again. The woman at the bar was super unhelpful and scowled at me the whole way through me ordering our drinks, for £16.40 for two pints i would have expected at least friendly service. I get it I was not in suit but does that deserve to be scowled at and made to feel super unwelcome. We finished our drinks and got the hell out of there as quick as we could. Will never return and have already told my wealthier friends and family not to attend this place

A great place we stumbled on after the fireworks at the castle. The reedley hallows beer went down very very well. We had a nibbles selection amazing value at 4 small plates for £20. I had lamb rump for main and my wife had ahicken Kiev which she thoroughly enjoyed. No room for a pud, hopefully next time. Very attentive service, great food and reasonably priced. Will defo return very soon.

We stopped here for some lunch after a walk along the tolkien trail. The staff were really lovely and the service was fab. And the sandwiches were very tasty too 😊 Maybe a bit on the pricey side but very enjoyable meal overall!

We had a pleasant lunch at The Btown Cow. The dining room was pleasant if a little dark, however its an old building so that's OK. Very pleasant young waiter. The menu is quite big and it's very varied, something for everyone. I had vegetarian Toad In The Hole, excellent , well presented and delicious. Husband chose the open beef sandwich, which unfortunately wasn't as good. The baguette was tough and the steak was "not the best". Our coffee at the end of the meal was really just froth!! However, it was clean and comfortable, a very pleasant young waiter and the loos were spotless.
