As locals we visit The Shies fairly regularly and have eaten here several times too. However the food we were served over Easter weekend was excellent and worthy of a review! Noting exotic, just good value, wholesome, decent portioned food.

After a great first experience (a swift pie and a sandwich a few weeks ago) we returned to this pub for a full Sunday lunch today. The establishment is larger than it appears from the road with a large car park (and overflow) and has covers well in excess of those you might expect. The landlord is as good as they come at making you feel welcome and he runs a really first class establishment. Everything here is "as it should be" down to detail like the loos which are spotless. The beer is very well kept indeed and you need to make sure you are not driving because you will want several more than just one of his delicious real ales. The food was incredibly good both in quality and value. We both ate roast lamb which was really outstanding (quality and quantity) and we both had three courses for about £15 a head. If all pubs were run like this, there would not be a decline in pub numbers in this country. Oh and we nearly forgot...The Three Horseshoes is set in glorious countryside with lovely views. Caravanners might be delighted to hear that there is a caravan park next door! Park up overnight and this would be a really delightful place to spend a several hours :-)

we always try to come here when we can get in and don’t fancy cooking one ourselves. the meat selection is always good and very generous, their roast potatoes are the best - lovely and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. it is a carvery so can help yourself. they unfortunately don’t have any mash but we just add extra roasties! their gravy is lovely and homemade with the meat juices in. the staff are lovely and attentive. our favourite place to go for sunday lunch!

We are regular visitors to the Red Lion in Myddle. We return every time because the food and service is second to none. We always receive a warm welcome and we know how hard Pete and Jackie and staff work to make sure that their guests are not disappointed. If you fancy a meal out around Shrewsbury (lunch or dinner) then look no further than the Red Lion. You won’t regret it.
