Three Horse Shoes in Hertsmere

We haven't been to The Three Horseshoes since it reopened a while ago, but I wish I had. What a fabulous transformation! A really lovely country pub with friendly staff and a great menu, which isn't too big but has something for everyone. Our food was beautifully presented and the service was great. Looking forward to returning and won't leave it so long this time!

A pretty pub which has been very well refurbished. The food was good and the wait staff were friendly and welcoming. However our waiter didn’t tell us that there was a specials board - I only discovered it on the way out. I would have chosen a different dessert if I had known.

I would have given 4 stars the food is not 5* at price. Service friendly and nice place. However shoot me down I'm sure you will but having a table looking directly into the kitchen serving hatch and watching the chef's analyze and man handle the food as they are cooking it was very off putting. I didn't notice any handwashing as they were picking up the food items to check them. Enough said still a nice place overall but perhaps worth adjusting this cooking practice.

It’s a great pub but small if you’re just going for a drink but there’s a lovely log fire and it’s got lots of history in this lovely village. For eating which is what we were there for, faultless service and delicious, generously portioned food. But if you haven booked, to get a table, you need to go early. Price wise, for the style of dining and gastro food - it’s what you’d expect. Tommy, Sharon and staff maintain high standards.

Came here for a 40th birthday lunch very nice pub and restaurant and great food. It was very busy so some of our order was a bit late and wrong

The Three Horseshoes is situated in Letchmore Heat near to Aldenham School. From the outside it looks like quite a small pub but the dining area is actually pretty large. There is plenty of choice on the menu, the food is good quality and the service is friendly and efficient.

Had a really nice meal and a very nice waitress served us. My friends wine tasted off and she didn't drink it. When it came to pay we mentioned this to who I think was the manageress but she didn't make much of it. I think the correct thing to do for good customer relations would have been to take it off the bill. Apart from that all good and a nice ambience. Have now visited about 4 times and would re visit.

Have used this "pub" since about 1968, on and off. Was dismayed when it closed and was covered in scaffolding! Thought it would be another house conversion, but no! Still a pub with big makeover. Brief lunch today; excellent and well-kept Tring Brewery "Side-Pocket". Food and service were good, and not-surprisingly it was quite busy! We shall return!

Brilliant Service and even more brilliant food. It was a Sunday lunch from heaven and served in the nicest way possible in lovely surrounds. The wine list was comprehensive without being snooty and affordable for most pockets. All in all we enjoyed an A1 experience in a delightful pub on the village green - what's not to like.

Very refreshing to see that the high standards of cuisine in this newly owned pub/ restaurant have been maintained . There was a very good selection - especially for fish and vegetarian eaters. A sensible wine list at very competitive prices and we will certainly be coming back again very soon

Visited for the second time under its new ownership for Sunday lunch, to celebrate a family birthday.......and what a terrific experience! Every part of the lunch was superb. Given that the restaurant was full and we had young kids in our party, service wise, nothing was too much trouble. To the food - The Beef and the Lamb were delicious as were the vegetables, all cooked to perfection and beautifully served on the plate.....piping hot and great portions too. ...and the crumble for dessert was fantastic served with Calvados custard. Absolutely enjoyed the experience and this restaurant will now go to the top of our regulars list.

I used to go here years ago before this place was beautifully done and taken over by the new owner. I must say back then the food was worse than anything I’ve ever tasted. Today I had one of the most delicious beef burgers I have tasted. I’ve also been there for Friday night jazz and what a wonderful atmosphere. Our server the lovely young lady who was serving outside sorry I didn’t catch your name you were phenomenal. My only advice is please clear the dishes much sooner rather than leaving them for too long. Otherwise everything was perfect. Thank you .

My wife and I not that we have needed to after the excess of xmas went for Sunday lunch to this hidden gem in Letchmore Heath after my wives friend mentioned that she had a lovely meal there the day before.It was unlikely we would get a table as it seemed so busy but while I parked my wife checked and they said no problem but there might be a bit of a weight .The staff were very helpful and polite under extreme pressure we ordered the scotch egg which I now see is a favourite with other trip advisors and the unusual mix of salt beef egg and chips and egg and chips I hear you say not very challenging for a chef I defy you to find better anywhere the salt beef had no gristle and was plentiful the eggs were cooked to perfection and the chips were chunky and I’m sure triple fried (you can have french fries instead) and amazing .The service was friendly and efficient considering how busy it was the only thing we did think is if you had young children it might be a bit to long to wait .We have lived near letchworth for twenty years but have missed out on this gem which we will definitely go

I tried this place one last time with a friend a few days ago as I live near by.My food was cold and tasteless. Hers was chewy and over cooked but still cold. We feel we were forgotten about and as a result will not be returning.

I booked a table of six (four adults and two children) for Sunday at 12.30pm. When we arrived there had clearly been a remembrance day event and the pub was rammed. The staff couldn't have been nicer and more apologetic. They asked if we didn't mind waiting for 10 mins whilst they prepared our table. Service was excellent throughout and all of us, including our grandchildren, thoroughly enjoyed our food. We opted not to have a Sunday Roast and ordered off the main menu. Good, varied choice. The landlord came over to our table twice to check we we were ok and to apologise for the short delay when we arrived.This is an English pub in the true sense and not a "tarted"up Gastro pub. Very good food, very good beer (Timothy Taylor).I have no idea why we have left it so long to return to this pub but we will be back very soon this time.

We had an excellent sunday roast including a very good veggie option followed by a delicious homemade apple and summer berries crumble with lots of custard. The fireplace was on the staff friendly. Not found this place before. We will be back.

Couple of weeks ago we drove past with my friend and popped in randomly for food and drink. Danny!!! I didn't expect to see you- 'The World is so small!' I loved your rustic looking pub and the food was simply beautiful. I don't think you recognised me as I used to work for you as many as thirteen years ago. Since you were busy with customers didn't want to take your time away. Next time, if it is less busy, I will surely say proper 'Hi'. Should call this Chip Advisor.... I'm advising you all to order the chips. They are unbelievable. I had the stir fry. Wow. And the kids had the salt beef. Also gorgeous. Not the cheapest in the world but I'd rather pay £70 for a great meal than £50 for rubbish.

Tried to book for table of 6 on Sunday to be told by a lady she was not sure if they were taking any bookings.. tried to ask when they’d know but she had no idea when. Then told us that they no longer do Sunday roasts anyway. regularly visited this pub just for drinks, sometimes food and have had issues before but this was the last straw. Very unreliable! . It gave us the opportunity to find a new regular pub the compasses near by.looking below we are not the only ones giving up on this place. don’t bother.

A lovely little place with bags of potential however standards have lowered in recent times. The owner is arrogant and unfriendly and really made us feel unwelcome and under his compliment. We persevered in calling as it is our local public house and in fairness his staff for the most part are very nice, despite how he treats them. Enough is enough now though. Also the food was once reasonable but in recent times things changed whereby you could bring your own takeaway and now the barmaid has become head chef things are at a low. Wouldnt recommend a visit until there is a change in personnel.

We had a great time at the restaurant. It’s lovely location and the food, drink and price point is fine. What makes the place is the quality of the staff. The ladies who waitress are charming and well informed - I recall the name Jose - she added humour and fun to the occasion. I thoroughly recommend a visit.

Today I had a vegertarian lunch here and it was amazing. Vegeetairan food is normally boring in pubs but today i was blown away with the vegetable stir fry and vegetable kebabs. The pub itself is cute, warm and welcoming alone and when you have yummy food too, wells thats just perfect. I'm sure even the meat and fish meals are execellant too.... a must visit.

Sunday lunch for four of us. Two of us had the Wild Boar scotch egg as a starter and both of us thought it outstanding , almost a meal in itself !!

Had an absolutely fabulous meal at The Three Horseshoes in Letchmore Heath last night. We went because the amazing Natalie Williams was singing live, and hence they were extremely busy. First of all, I must say, that despite the young staff being under a lot of pressure due to a very packed house, they were all exceedingly attentive, professional and very friendly. The food was delicious, generously portioned and beautifully presented. I had the stir fry which was fresh, light, zingy, (but not too spicy) and very tasty and my husband had the rib-eye steak which was cooked to perfection. We shared dessert, a freshly made and still warm, chocolate brownie and ice-cream. If you haven’t yet been and you are local (or even not local) to Radlett, Bushey, Watford or Harrow, I highly recommend you give the Three Horseshoes a visit. It’s in a beautiful country setting right on the village green, Danny Williams the owner, is welcoming and friendly and the menu although not huge (always a good sign) has something for everyone!

Wonderful day at the Three Horseshoes, Letchmore Heath Aldenham village. Only took us 10 mins from Watford to have a really healthy (sunny day! ) lunch and listen to some amazing music at the same time. Our friends were from Tring so love the countryside and loved this scenic village.

We came here for dinner on a Saturday night with 4 friends as we had been recommended. There was a good atmosphere with very friendly helpful staff. The menu is small but there is a varied choice & vegetarians are obviously catered for as well plus specials also available. I really enjoyed the superfood vegetarian stirfry & my dessert of apple crumble was delicious plus they found some lemon sorbet for a couple of us which was not on the menu. Generally speaking the cooking is of a very high standard for a pub of this type. My husband found his steak was slightly gristly but Danny the owner came over straightaway & said he would speak to his local butcher who also supplies 2 other local pubs. We ended up with after dinner drinks on the house after a very pleasant evening. The service was very good & we never felt rushed. We ate inside but there is also seating outside. We would all certainly be more than happy to come here again.

We heard that this pub had changed hands, and having been there only once a long time ago only for a drink we thought would try the food. Having enjoy the evening booked again with some friends who also had the wrong impression of this pub. We drive past a lot but never stopped. Everyone had a great evening, the service is not the fastest but the food and presentation makes up for that. The staff are more friendly than most places as well as accommodating. For the venue, not seeing a spruce up, it makes the food a little more expensive than others but the staff make up for the difference. Our friends who are local were very impressed and eat out a lot so I expect they will return with a small army of eaters.

We have been recommended to this pub being advised that it provided excellent food. Together with friends we book Sunday lunch and what turned out to be a glorious late spring/early summer day. The setting is beautiful overlooking the village green and we were able to get a table outside in the sun.

We were instantly disappointed when we set foot in this pub - tired decor and a non existent atmosphere greeted us. When we ordered our starters, I was told (without an apology) that they'd run out of the one dish I'd chosen (it was a Saturday night, so you'd think they'd have everything readily available).

A delicious lunch at the Three Horseshoes, well served and well presented. Superb tomato & basil soup - homemade and vegan, we later found out. The ingredients used are obviously of the highest quality which produced an extremely satisfying light meal. There's attention to detail here which really pays off. The place itself is an unfussy country pub which had a nice atmosphere even on a quiet Monday lunchtime. I look forward to a return visit.

Living in Bushey this delightful pub restaurant is only 10 minutes drive away. We went with friends for the first time on a Saturday night. This was their third time, and their third great meal. My girlfriend and I had delicious rib eye steaks, wonderful flavour perfectly cooked and hot. My husband had the burger which he said was one of the best his ever had.....and his had plenty. And the other main dish was the cod a chips,such a good portion some was left on the plate. Two of us had the goats cheese and mushroom starter, good portion very tasty and hot. (I do have a thing about my food being hot.)

Winter has arrived and the pub has had a lovely update with new carpet, tables and chairs with, and I like the most, radiator covers. A partition was also removed creating much more open space with a view of the open fire.

Booked a table for Sunday lunch today and walked across fields with the dog. We have been to this pub several times before and have always imagined it could be a wonderful place if it was done right. We were absolutely delighted to find that it is now under new management and is every bit as great as we had imagined it could be. A completely no frills, good old country pub in a chocolate box setting, just as before, but now the food is fabulous. We all had different dishes and they were all great. My fish and chips was quite honestly the best fish and chips I have ever had in 54 years of life! Everyone had different puddings and again they were all excellent. Perfectly judged "gastro" pub food. The waitress was lovely, service excellent and even the dog was made welcome. Totally relaxing, non fussy pub with an open fire and fantastic food. Loved it!

We had a tasty, filling meal, all cooked freshly to order. Service was great - although we had the benefit of it being a quiet Sunday evening. Although it was quite a meat-biased menu, there was enough choice for vegetarians and we could have asked for tweaks since it was all prepared in house. Would definitely visit again.

Lunch for 5 at The 3 Horse Shoes in Letchmore HEath was perfect. A lovely table by the beautiful open fire, attentive and very friendly staff and very welcoming to our 3 year old. Simple things like bringing his food out early without us requesting it was very handy (as any parent of a toddler might agree). The Roast lamb was beautiful and not a mouthful was spared! The final touch was the bar staff giving my little boy some duck feed to feed the ducks at the pond, it made his day. We will be back soon, and have already recommended to friends!
