Ignore all reviews before August 2024. We are so happy this little gem is open again, and under new ownership!! Lovely Irish pub. Really nice atmosphere, Staff couldn’t be more pleasant and helpful, really good choice of drinks and the prices are cheaper than my local back home!! We’ve already booked for Christmas!!

This Pub & Restaurant are fantastic, the staff are very welcoming and friendly, the Thai food is the best I have ever had and for London the prices can't be beaten. If you want a sensible priced drink and meal, then this needs to be your first port of call in London. The pub is less than 30 seconds from Mansion House Tube Station and about five minutes from the new Bank Station exit/entrance and the same from Cannon Street Station. This is one of the best pubs in the City of London, in fact for the staff, price and quality of food it's probably the best IMO.

This pub is a warm and very welcoming place just down from Mansion House station. My husband and I arrived from Australia for a 4 night stay at nearby accommodation,we called into this pub for a couple of refreshments while we were waiting for check in time at our hotel.Ben the publican went out of his way to make us welcome and sat and chatted to us and made us feel like long lost friends. We came back later that night and had dinner from the Thai restaurant upstairs which was wonderful the food was very tasty and enjoyable. No matter what time of day we walked past we always got a greeting and a wave through the front window.Needless to say this was our favourite destination of our stay in London. If we had of known of this pub before we arrived we most definitely would have booked our accommodation here as well.Ben has gone out of his way to try and accommodate all his patrons with special events such as ladies nights, gentlemen’s nights, jazz nights,Karaoke, live music …just to name a few. Thank you Ben for making our stay in London great

I cannot comment on the food of this restaurant as we never got to taste any! I booked this restaurant for a Christmas dinner with 3 work colleagues. Booked online, a table for 4 at 19.00, on arrival to restaurant it looked very dark, locked and closed. Confused, I called the mobile number on the door, restaurant was shut due to a massive electrical issue! I received no phone call, no email. Nothing to inform me of this! According to the restaurant they didn't even have a reservation for us, even though I could provide a booking reference! I was left on the street rapidly trying to find somewhere else last minute, we ended up in Taberna Etrusca (delightful Italian restaurant!). Called the restaurant on Monday for an explanation, no management were available to take my call, so I requested a call back, they said with in 48hrs, its now been over 72 hrs and STILL NOTHING.......... Booked this restaurant at your own risk/peril, they may or may not have your reservation or risk the restaurant might be closed for the night without telling you!!

Ordered a scotch egg, a salad, fish and chips, and a beer. They were out of fish and chips, which isn’t a big deal, so I ordered a burger instead. The scotch egg had uncooked sausage around it and the burger was barely cooked. Were they too busy to cook the food or is this what they do in London? No idea, but they weren’t that busy. I got sick from the food.

Made a dinner reservation for 8.5.23 back in January for our first night in London, staying next door at The Cove Cannon Street. Turned up 7pm to find it closed!! No communication to say our booking was cancelled, no apology, shocking

We stopped by this pub for dinner because it was near our hotel. Located in a busy business district by Mansion House it was quite slow this day due to the train strike. We were seated upstairs in the dining area and had a great meal. If we’d been in London longer we’d have returned for sure!

What appears to be a traditional boozer made up of friendly staff is actually a front to rip you off. I have been going to this pub with work for a while and always felt it is more expensive than others in the area. I recently took some clients to this pub, bought a round at the bar and got a recipient to expense. To my surprise I discovered that 20% service charge was added. I was standing at the bar, ordered the drinks there and carried them away once paid for. not really worthy of 20% service and I haven’t seen this done at other pubs in London. I went back and asked if the service charge was a mistake, and the staff said that it is policy set by the management to charge service without asking or making the payer aware. I have been back recently and asked the staff to take the service charge off my order before payment and was met with an icy reaction and on one occasion abuse from a young man behind the bar. Absolute disgrace, Three Cranes. Sort it out!

In December 2021, as soon as we could book, we reserved our room at The 3 Cranes. We were so excited since we had had to cancel our 1st trip in 2020 due to covid. we pre-paid for our room. Received confirmation # and all info. One month before we were schedule to stay at The 3 Cranes, they emailed us cancelling our reservation. They had our money for 8 months! I called and was told it was an issue with their system however, after talking longer, it sounds like they have a practice of overbooking. Not sure if that is so they can get more money or what. You would have thought they would have figured this out before eight months. We now had to find a new hotel. Because we are only a month out, it cost us $400.00 more. If they would have let us known sooner we might have been able to find something similar for the same price. I just want anyone who is thinking of staying at The 3 Cranes, continually check your reservation so you aren't out of luck like we are.

Great pub in the centre! We were just wandering the streets and decided to go for a drink. Wow what a friendly staff and superb service. Manager is really chatty and from one drink in the end we stayed all evening. Big variety of beers. We tasted them all! Also great tapas style menu. We will be back!

We had a fantastic lunch at The Three Cranes recently - we were allowed use of the private dining room upstairs which was perfect for us and our server David was exceptional - attentive and incredibly helpful. We had a tapas style lunch with lots of dishes and it was enjoyed by all, some really unusual things on the menu but everything we had was really tasty. We would definitely return and recommend to anyone for a lovely lunch in the City!

Great pub and good atmosphere and great staff but what’s with the new payment system. Place was rocking tonight but clearly the staff were struggling with some weird till system that has been introduced. Never had a problem before and the team behind the bar were doing their best. Still at top spot in the city for a drink but please sort it out.

Good beer is clearly a draw here. Food was ok. Smoked eel salad was great but huge. Fish pie (pastry) lacked fish and was a bit of a stodge fest. Too heavy for me. Chips - as everyone comments - were amazing. Garlic mayo went too well with them. Service was really nice and friendly.

Came in here for dinner on a hot evening at the end of July 2019 with a small group of friends and we all enjoyed it. It was hot, its a old building and has no air con. To their great credit, the restaurant contacted me the morning of our visit and explained the no air con situation and asked if we'd like to defer our booking - a very nice touch indeed. The place is essentially a pub on the ground floor (which we didn't try but it looked good and, like a lot of the older City of London pubs, it has plenty of space in the quiet side street outside to drink!) Upstairs is a restaurant - nicely decorated, quite small and with large windows looking down on the street below. Our waiter was Polish - super service and friendly and entertaining. Food was good without being spectacular (mind you it was a super hot evening which doesn't always improve the eating experience), portions were hefty. Some of my friends had rillettes to start which all went down well and others went for the squid. For main, I had lamb chops which were fine but a bit uninspiring. Everyone else had pies which were big and were proper pies not a pot of caserole with a lid on top: top notch. Choice of side dishes wasn't great and could easily be improved. I'd happily come back here.

They have really really good beer. Do not be put off by the decor or the service. I think they are currently undergoing a bit of a renovation so even these points may get sorted. Focus on the beer!

Popped in for a drink, and found a very rude male bartender who delighted in making fun of our Americanisms. The female bartender just assumed I'd want ice in my whiskey. Excellent job of making us feel uncomfortable. I'd suggest walk on by.
