Having had our daughters wedding at this venue this weekend and after all the trials and stress that goes with planning a wedding I had to write this review while still reeling in the the overwhelming success that was largely due to the staff at Wickam Estates. Nothing was too much trouble and the whole day was marvellous. The setting is superb. Not the cheapest venue by far but worth ever penny. I would have no hesitation in recommending this venue to anyone. Thank you so much.

Our wedding day was made perfect by this venue unbelievable location and staff. Sam and Grace were by our side throughout the planning process and helped us through all the stressful situations. Everyone on the big day were so helpful and friendly and displayed huge amounts of professionalism. The onsite accommodation and bridal suite had everything we needed to make our day special. The Exquisite Catering team made a wonderful meal, which paired with the Wines made by the gorgeous vineyard we managed to stroll through in the sunset at the end of the day. A massive thank you to everyone who managed to make our day as wonderful as it was. Its definitely a venue i would highly recommend. Thank you again from Mr and Mrs York!!!

Espero no haber extrañado a nadie. No cambies nada. Enhorabuena a todos. Christine S

We had our wedding here on 8th September 2018. The venue was incredible at stepping in with just 4 months before the big day after we were let down by our original venue. Sam met with us and made a plan to save our wedding, even putting up with many tears from myself! She understood how much our day meant to us and did everything she could to reassure us. The venue is stunning and so many people commented on how different and memorable our wedding was. To get married outside in such a perfect setting, made my dreams come true. Dreams I didn't think could become reality. The day went smoothly, helen planned everything and ensured we didn't have to think about timings and we were completely unaware of any dilema's if there were any! The planning, dedication and service from Sam & Helen was faultless. We would highly recommend. Warning: you will fall in love with this venue at first sight! Again thank you so much Helen & Sam, you made our day so special and memorable. Love Andy & Steph Butt (08.09.2018)

This is a tough review to write based on the completely mixed experience we had at our recent wine tasting experience. We arrived a few minutes late due to storm Ali that decided to make a visit to the south coast. Ok arrival my friend, who made the reservation, had a long and painful debate with the staff as to why we had not printed off our vouchers to pass to staff on arrival. It was an honest mistake that none of our group had noticed that we needed to print the voucher but in this modern, digital age (and the fact that our named table allocation remained vacant) I am not sure this welcome was necessary. We purchased a bottle of the willow bank white to have as a pre dinner drink between 4, produced from grapes in the Gloucestershire vineyard, and it was lovely. The wine tasting began and we were taken out to the vines and given a fabulous talk on the history of the vineyard, the grapes and the wine production. The orators knowledge was great and she did well given that storm Ali continued to blow around us. We retreated back to the hall due to rain and the talk continued. The lady, whose name I don’t know as she did not introduce herself but I will name her ‘willow’, continued to talk is through the wine tasting and how to taste effectively. This was great; informative, clear and entertaining. My only criticism would be that it was unclear what we were about to taste and nobody explained the accompanying canapés so we were clueless as to what we were eating, but it was delicious and maybe the sense of mystery made it more fun (?!?), I’m still undecided on this one. What would have been really helpful is if there had been some cards on the table describing the wines, how to purchase, what wine they sold, prices, what we were going to eat.... it isn’t a huge criticism but might have added some finesse to proceedings. The wine tasting was well done and ‘Willow’ had a great knowledge and answered questions brilliantly. There were lots of questions asked which highlighted that there were plenty of people there who genuinely enjoyed wine and were intrigued by the processes involved. 5* to Willow for her knowledge however I’m afraid that is where my praise of her ends. There were a few noisy people in the room and Willows voice did not carry well so it was impossible to know when she had started to speak. Her solution was to ‘shush’ everyone which probably wasn’t the most tactful way to deal with things. I will talk more about Willow in a minute...The food arrived; chicken breast with dauphinoise, curly kale and butternut squash purée. Divine. Very tasty and beautifully cooked. Dessert was equally tasty; chocolate ganache with a red berry sorbet and chocolate soil. Just lovely and well done to the chef! After dinner I went to the bar to buy another bottle of wine for our group. I will forgive Willow and the other member of staff for not noticing me when I walked up to the bar as they were clearly talking. But, I cannot forgive Willow for her rudeness. She told me the price, took my card and automatically did contactless. When I suggested to her that she should at least show me the screen or ask me if I wanted to do contactless before she did it her response was, “well that is what everyone uses”. I am not interested in what everyone else uses but more the voracity off the transaction and my legal right to be asked if I am content for the vendor to use my card on a machine without offering me a receipt. “I can give you a receipt” was her churlish response, which I accepted but pointed out to their that she had a legal obligation to check that I was content for her to use contactless. All in all it was a good evening with nice food and an informative orator. willow needs some guidance in customer service but her knowledge of the vineyard is without question. The wine and food was great and I can honestly say that I liked all of the wines we were given in the wine tasting. Unlike other reviewers I enjoyed the small sample of each and it was perfectly balanced. A few observations:1. Provide leaflets about your wines, even if you don’t want to give away too much, I acknowledge that Willow was asking us questions as we tasted, maybe some on the bar for after the tasting?2. An indicator of what food we will be eating or when we will eat. I felt the canapés were lovely but it was unclear as to when, or how much, food was coming. 3. Give Willow some lessons in customer relations. Rude is the only word I came away with and that seems so unfair after her great oration and lead of the tasting. 4. If Willow had some customer service training she could have circulated amongst the tables and talked more to guests, I’m pretty sure she would have sold more wine this way too. 5. You do wine tasting to showcase, and ultimately sell, wine. A trick is totally missed in not having a wine sales list or obvious capacity for customers to purchase wine after the tasting. We would have been keen to buy more than the 3 bottles we did had it been more accessible. I am not suggesting a full blown shop but a couple of extra cases of the wine we tasted so that we could purchase and take home would have sold much more. 6. For goodness sake stock your wine fridge before a wine tasting notduring!!!!!! This speaks for itself!7. A coffee after dinner would have been lovely? Our group would happily have paid extra!I’m so sorry I can’t give more than 3* but it feels as if it was just lacking that bit of finesse that could have given it more. We had a lovely evening with friends but it was let down by a few key issues. We will go back as I’m hopeful that we were just unlucky!!

It takes quite a lot for me to leave a bad review as you will see if you look at my other reviews. We went on Saturday for my fathers birthday. My parents are elderly and my father is disabled. We hadn't even sat down before we were being hassled for our drinks order, we actually had to ask if we could sit down first!! We had the Camembert to start which was nice. My father ordered the fillet steak which at £26 could be considered to be a luxury. What he was served was not a fillet steak, and was definitely a rump, however we were still charged for a fillet!! my husband and mother had the pork chop and I had the sweet potato Wellington. They were OK but nothing great, had better in our local pub. My mother intended to query the steak when she paid, however this was where things went from bad to worse. They did not explain that their credit card machine was not working, they wandered off with my mothers card doing it over the phone reading out my mothers card number and 3 diget security code out loud in the restaurant, she actually had to ask for a receipt as she was concerned what had been charged to the card. She did point out that if they had told her there was a problem with the machine she would have paid cash !! I think it is unacceptable in this society when we have to be so security consious that they didn't tell her what was happening, because of this she forgot to mention the steak. This has been one of my parents favourite restaurants over the years, although it has changed hands on several occasions. If you expect people to drive to you you have to offer an all round experience, you cannot rest on your laurels and think that the view makes up for a service that does not look after its customers. We will all take some convincing you are worth the trip when we have so many lovely places to eat in the area.

My sister booked this venue to celebrate our Mums birthday. We don't get together as often as we'd like so we thought we would go somewhere nice. Unfortunately we were left very disappointed. Despite taking our orders for the fillet steak we were later told that they had sold out of the fillet at lunch. We changed our orders which clearly caused confusion in the kitchen because we were then given incorrect main courses with steaks that were not cooked correctly, (medium rare steaks that were blue, medium steaks that were rare etc). The starter took an hour to arrive which wouldn't be a problem if there were appetisers on the menu. The staff consisted of two young girls who were very pleasant but were clearly out of their depth. There was a female manager about but she was obviously hiding out the back somewhere!Don't waste your time or your money on this pretentious place. Go to the Royal Oak in Lavant instead. better service and food.

We enjoyed our anniversary dinner and private wine and cheese pairing immensely. The attractive surroundings, sparkling glassware, gleaming cutlery and bright white napkins are a good indication of what is to come. A friendly, knowledgeable explanation of an unfamiliar menu term helped us with our choices. Our food was meticulously prepared, perfectly cooked, beautifully presented and so flavoursome! On choosing sticky toffee pudding for dessert, I told Ed that this dessert is always compared to the best I had eaten in a Keswick pub restaurant. He went off to the kitchen with a wry smile and a twinkle in his eye and when it was served I realised why. Sticky toffee pudding at The Three Choirs, Wickham is a theatrical experience and divine. The whole evening the service was attentive without being intrusive. We really enjoyed chatting with Ed during the wine and cheese pairing and it became obvious that he is passionate about good food and ensuring his clients are well looked after. It was so lovely to be presented with an anniversary gift of a bottle of sparkling wine to take home. Thank you Ed and team, we had a wonderful evening.

Staff were mostly very good - however, the bar was closed at times and it was never clear whether it was open or closed, and the drinks were overpriced. For example an ordinary bottle of wine at £24 (considering how many we had already bought for the Wedding itself and a jaegerbomb at £5 (considering one of the wedding party provided the jaeger machine!).Breakfast the next day was disappointing too - limited choice and no butter or sauce for rolls.

Small but friendly restaurant in an established vineyard which produces some good English wines. The menu for Sunday was a limited choice of 4 selections each for starters and mains plus 3 for desserts. The service was excellent and meals were delivered to the table in good time, and all at the same time( we were a group). Presentation was very well done and the whole meal was very good value for money. After our meal we enjoyed the wine tour, which was very educational , the lady who presented the tour knew her wine, and gave lots of background information, the tasting consisted of 4 different wines, served with cheeses that complimented each wine.A very pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

This was a strange experience right from the time of booking. I was not able to initially get hold of the vineyard by phone so left a note through their website. When the lady rang back I was sharply told that she hadn't been able to answer the phone as she was giving a tour (which I thought was fair enough, however later in the conversation she was saying that I should leave a message on her answer machine, and didn't appear to believe me when I said that this did not kick in).The voucher I was given for my birthday was for a tour of the vineyard, with a cheese and wine tasting. It mentioned that we could extend the visit by booking in with their restaurant for lunch. We thought this would be a good idea, and we were told that we were booked in for 1pm, and the tour at 2.30. Now this is where we get the impression that the whole thing will be a joined up experience, however we were later proved that this is not the case.We arrived on a beautiful hot day, and were delighted we were able to sit outside the restaurant overlooking the vineyard for our lunch. We were wonderfully attended to by the waiter, and the food and drink was delicious. The chef obviously took great care to present the food on the plate well, and we thoroughly enjoyed this part of the day. We washed it all down with 2 bottles of their red wine from the Three Choirs Vineyard. Just after we had ordered our desserts we realised that it was almost 2.30pm, and so we spoke to a lady who had just shown a couple around the vineyard. She said not to worry, and that she would sort it out, asking the restaurant if they could expedite the remainder of our meal. We later find out she was not the tour guide - I assume she may have actually been a wedding co-ordinator, but we were not to know this, and indeed it should not have mattered. At this stage we were under the impression that we were having our own tour, so timings should be flexible. This was an incorrect assumption on our part.We were trying to wolf our desserts as best we could (which incidentally were delicious) when the tour guide came over to our table - we were informed we had missed the start of the tour, and that everyone was waiting for us in the vineyard. As we were being rushed, I enquired what the arrangements were for paying - did I pay for anything now, or should we just join the tour and sort it out afterward? The tour guide looked horrified. Of course I should pay for the meal at the restaurant now. (Again, for some reason it hasn't quite clicked that the two entities are being run it seems on a separate basis - potentially my fault, but I do feel the marketing led me in this direction). We joined the rest of the tour at the edge of the vineyard, where I apologise to the waiting party who all seem to be fine with our late arrival... however there was one person who was not - the tour guide. She kept making snide remarks about the time, all the way through the tour and wine tasting. "We're running late", "Not enough time to tell you about this", "We're behind schedule" etc.. My party and I were very uncomfortable about this throughout - it's bad enough turning up late (and I don't feel this was our fault either - as we assumed that the restaurant/vineyard would have kept an eye on timings for us, and surely must be used to having people eat in the restaurant before tours, having advertised this on the voucher?!) but then having the tour guide continually point this out was a bit bad form. We assumed it must be because she had more tours booked later in the day - no, she hadn't, I think she just wanted to go home!Disappointingly we only spent about 5 minutes in the vineyard itself, at the edge. I thought perhaps we might have been taken up a row of vines, or for a wander around the edge, but we stuck to the end of one row, had a brief chat, and it was back to the 'classroom' for the wine and cheese tasting. We were instructed to only use two out of the three tables and had to sit on very high plastic chairs. What I would have done if I was disabled, I'm not entirely sure. This was not a comfortable experience... I have no idea why they would have chosen such inappropriate furniture. The tour guide was much like a school teacher in fact, instructing us on what to do and what not to do, and many of the group had been told off at various different points during the course of the visit. The tour guide appeared fairly knowledgeable about her subject, although my friend said he was going to double check the facts she had given as he wasn't convinced! The cheese and wine went very well together, but we only got 3 very small glasses of wine, and accompanying slices of cheese, and we didn't have any red wine at all - it was a glass of fizz and 2 white, of which the latter were nothing special. We very much enjoyed our red at lunchtime. We also noticed that while the restaurant sold it at £22 a bottle, the identical wine in the shop which we frequented after the tasting, was £10 cheaper! Again, another indicator that these two entities do not work well together. My friend was quite interested in the business, and wanted to ask a couple of questions - but the tour guide didn't seem to want to answer, or perhaps just didn't understand what was being asked, I'm not sure, but certainly didn't ease up on her non-friendliness. At which point we thought it would be a good time to leave.Would I visit again? To the restaurant, absolutely, but to the vineyard - most definitely not. I am not accustomed to be being treated as though I am a naughty school child and the manner of the tour guide was very unprofessional. This has put me off recommending it. Sadly, I understand from something the tour guide said, the restaurant might not stay in business for very much longer - so if you fancy something good to eat, which is not too expensive (£25 for 3 courses, without wine) then I would highly recommend a visit asap. My 4 stars were given for the restaurant, having lost 1 star for being associated with the wine tour!

We had a family sunday lunch in the restauraunt prior to a wine-tasting tour. Admittedly the weather was fabulous but it was quite something to sit on the patio outside looking over the vines.Between us we tried all of the starters and most of the mains, all of which were delicious. We thought the portions were pretty generous (all of the roasts were served in a vast yorkshire pudding), though the focus is on quality not quantity. Only a couple of us could manage a pudding but they were really special. (My sticky toffee pudding was not only sweet but also light, and not stodgy). I thought £20 for two courses and £25 for three was a very good price. The wine was also reasonably priced.I have several food intolerances and the waiting staff and kitchen could not have been nicer about accommodating me.Our waiter was lovely and struck just the right balance between attentiveness and leaving us to enjoy our food. I am sure we will go back.

We had a great time visiting here, but were not offered drinks at the time we arrived , meaning it was nearly 30 minutes before they arrived. The staff were very attentive and all had excellent customer service skills.Food wise, the steak I ordered was quite small , but cooked well and tasteful. The butternut squash salad was really nice, but the steak sandwich we ordered, wasn't the best, quite basic, but the french fries were good and it was onlyn £8.The Sea Bass was excellent and also the chicken with brioche was also warmly greeted. The wines we tried were all of very good quality and taste. They complimented the meal well.Overall a good experience within a countryside atmosphere surrounded by grape vines. We would visit again for the staff, and the location, we would have just liked to be attended to more promptly, even if it is just drinks.

Great venue sitting outside on a summers evening looking over the tranquil vineyard and watching the sun go down with drinks served to your table , no rushing around , and then dining in a lovely restaurant with really friendly and attentive staff who were just great, the food is stunning by far the best of any local restaurant and the finale desert was served by the chef himself. As someone who rarely reviews anything , we had such a great evening I felt compelled to let others know what a gem of a place the Three Choirs is. An absolute must to visit.

I can't really fault this restaurant, the setting is lovely with views out on to the vineyards, the waiter and especially the waitress we're great, very polite and a level of service second to none, nothing was to much trouble, our food was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection, so much so as my wife even went and thanked the chief at the end of our evening, the wine was great as well. If your looking for a nice quiet restaurant with great food this place is a must and we're definitely be back again

My partner booked a lunchtime surprise last week (24 June) for my Birthday. The surprise lunch was to include a tour of the vinery and a wine tasting (which was billed separately as an addition).Upon arrival at the restaurant we were greeted by a very friendly waitress who offered us a glass of bubbly whilst we waited for the menu which we gratefully accepted. We ordered the two course set lunch which was beautifully presented and delicious. I chose the Sea bass and to be fair could have been two fillets instead of one as one fillet was a very small portion. Most restaurants I have eaten in and chosen Sea bass do this. When the waitress came to clear the plates I said to her how lovely the food was and to pass on our compliments to the chef which she said she would. (I didn't mention the small portion). We asked for the bill and I was extremely surprised and disappointed to note that the two glasses of Prosecco we were offered at the beginning of the meal had been charged at £7 per glass! a staggering cost for a 125ml glass. I pointed this out to the waitress and she said she would make enquiries. The Manager then approached our table and asked if we had problem with the bill, I replied that I had really enjoyed the meal but that we were not made aware that the Prosecco would be a separate charge. He was extremely curt and said that when you're offered a menu for food you expect to pay for it! - a strange remark I thought as we had not been offered a drinks menu. I explained that we had just returned from Lake Garda where Prosecco is served at 3.50 Euros a glass, he then said we could go to Wetherspoons if we wanted and get cheaper drinks. He then reminded us that we had had a free bottle of house wine with the meal. I was very upset by the attitude of the Manager as we had spent a considerable sum in the restaurant and for the wine tasting and were not looking for any "freebies". The Manager then reluctantly agreed to remove the cost of the Prosecco from the bill.My partner and I are fairly well travelled and have not experienced such an attitude, especially from the Manager of a restaurant, we are not natural complainers but felt that this situation was very badly handled. We shall not be recommending this restaurant to our friends which is a shame as the lady who carried out the vinery tour and wine tasting was extremely professional and friendly and we did buy a bottle of rose wine from her. It was a very enjoyable experience for us and we learnt a lot about the wine and how it is made. Marianne, Portsmouth

Came here as my wife had given me a voucher for my birthday so we had lunch and vineyard tour and wine tasting with cheese. The lunch was to die for. We had fish board each, roast beef and sea bass (not together) and then a shared desert which was a sharing plate with sticky toffee pudding and accompaniments. Fantastic quality and amazing service from the staff. We had sparking wine and A bottle of the Wickham dry. Very good. We then went on the tour and tasting. Very well delivered and informative. A great day out and a place we will return to again and again. We have missed out in the past!

We attended the wine tasting last weekend for something a little different to do whilst in the area, we had eaten in the restaurant before but had not done the wine tasting. We arrived at the shop to find it very full of people waiting to pay for the tour and the lady behind the counter was rushed off her feet, however, she politely advised us that we may have to wait a while for the tour to start as it was a busy day and she had a large party that day, as it happens we only started about five minutes late.We were then taken down to the vines and were told about the site and how the vines grew etc, it was fascinating. So much we had no idea about. Then on to the old barn where wines used to be made and up to a large room where we sat around three large tables. I have to say the the room did look like it needed a lick of paint but this really didn't matter when the lecture started. What an entertaining hour, full of very interesting facts, most amusing at times and delivered very professionally with humour and warmth.I didn't like all the wines but that is personal taste, however learning how wines and cheese go together and especially how they don't go together was a real eye opener. My only comment would be that it would have been nice to taste a red as well instead of just whites, but the lady, I think she said her name was Lauren, did give us a sneaky little taster in the shop after the large group had gone. All in all a very informative and thoroughly entertaining afternoon which I would recommend to anybody.

I was treated to lunch on 1st June, as an unexpected birthday present from my wife. I must say that the food/service was excellent. However, we were expecting to eat a la carte, only to be told that this was not available, and that only the limited choice of a set menu was being served.Having viewed the a la carte sample menu on line we were anticipating various options. It did not say that a set menu applied, other than for Sunday lunch! This should be made clear on line, or explained when the booking is made, as requested by phone.

Visited the beautiful vineyard, but was really disappointed with the wine tasting and the tour guide. Upon arrival we did not have a printed out voucher and were literally told off by the guide. I had the email on my phone which showed I'd paid but I had not received a separate voucher which apparently I should have printed off (though most places today usually accept a phone voucher!) She told me abruptly it said on the email to print it off but as I did not have that particular email, clearly I did not know this (it didn't say it on my email). Rather than calmly explaining the situation she went on to tell me she didn't know what she could do and she had to have the voucher for the till. I actually felt we were going to be turned away, despite showing her an email as proof of purchase. I couldn't believe that such a small thing had caused such an issue. The wine tasting was odd also. We tried three white wines with no water in between but with very small tipples with cheese and no red to sample at all.The vineyard is beautiful and the food looks amazing but the tour was a huge let down with a guide who needs to work on her customer service. Telling people off, both us and others in the shop is not appropriate and ruined our afternoon.

We had trouble downloading the voucher we received as a Christmas present but Jill in Gloucester worked hard to sort it for us! It was worth the effort as the meal was delicious. My mint and pea soup was yummy. Lovely bottle of Three Choirs Wine. View over the vines and a group of grazing deer. All the dishes were presented with care and looked wonderful. We were collected for the wine tasting, which was friendly and informative. The small pieces of cheese were to demonstrate how the different wines complimented different cheeses and vice versa, not meant as a meal of cheese and wine as a previous reviewer seemed to expect!!!! We bought some wine afterwards with a 10% discount as we had eaten in the restaurant. We will certainly be recommending the vineyard to friends and will return ourselves.

This was the second and last time we will be visiting the restaurant unfortunately. We first came in November and the food, service and ambiance was second to none. I am guessing there is new management, as this time around our experience was absolutely abysmal. The food was ok, but what let it down completely was the managers inability to take feedback on board. Instead of listening to what we felt was wrong, the manager seemed very emotional, rude and abrupt. Not all customers that are passing on their genuine feedback are on the search for a free meal!I am sad to say we won't be back because of this.

We first visited Three Choirs on Boxing Day when I can honestly say all of our large party thoroughly enjoyed their meals. After that experience, eight of us returned for lunch on Easter Sunday with high expectations. I chose the crispy hens egg starter from the standard menu and I thought it was a really nice delicious dish well presented. For main course I chose the roast beef which I requested rare and was told it would be pink which is fine. It was indeed medium when presented but lacked flavour and was not as tender as I would have expected. We ordered both beef and turkey main courses and all of our party commented that our main meals were ok but not to the standard of our last visit which was a shame. Service was still good but the food was a bit of a mixed bag this time. Maybe we were just unlucky this visit but we won't give up on you because of one experience.

As a wine fan I booked a tour for my birthday. We expected great things after reading the description for the 'Tour & Tasting' experience, but sadly, were very disappointed. Handed a very small glass with an even smaller 'taste' of wine in it, we began the 'tour' - a 20yd walk across a small courtyard to look over at the vines .... whilst the guide talked about the history of wine & the vineyard - that lasted about 10 mins! Tour over ! I must say however, the guide was a nice chap, informative & polite. We then went into the function room - which was a pleasant room - and the 'taste' session began. Well, the same tiny glass was used as we were 'poured' a drop of the first wine, and that was the same for the next 2 wines to taste! The cheese pairing was even worse ..... I was gobsmacked to say the least when the guide produced a cheap wooden board with 3 rows of cheese on it - each 'piece' being about 1cm cube (if that) in size ! - I kid you not and the guide called this a platter !!! Really ? 3 cheeses (not even a blue) does not make a platter ! Despite the explanation and information about the cheese & wine, which was interesting I suppose, I couldn't help thinking how I'd paid £12.50 for a tour that didn't actually tour....!! Less than half a regular glass of wine in 'tasting experience' & a nibble of cheese - pathetic !! Where was the presentation, a tour, the cheeseboard served with crackers etc to at least pretend an effort was being made ..... As for the wine, 'Tight' would be an understatement - a sip of wine does not constitute good value & for a vineyard to offer such poor value and stingy measures doesn't bode well for 'selling' the product. In summary - 1 welcome sip of wine, a 'tour' across a small courtyard, 3 sips of 3 white wines only, 3 cubes of cheese to nibble & that's it ! Poor, very poor. Perhaps the tour could be expanded - I expected to see where the wine was made, some grape varieties, bottling etc. An actual tour or the vineyard would have been nice, some literature on the wines you sell would have been good, seeing the wine list you offer even would have helped, a decent cheese board that wasn't so 'Scrooge' like should be offered & not rationed within a inch of its paltry life, and a decent size glass of wine really wouldn't have hurt would it ? Lastly, a percentage off what you buy in the shop should be offered as part of the ticket price as an incentive to buy the wine, so you could at least get a proper taste ! A disappointing, poor value for money & down right stingy 'wine tasting' experience and certainly needs major improvement.

This is not the same restaurant it was when I visited in April last year and gave a glowing review for. Its all change !! For what ever reason the head chef and key kitchen staff fell out with the manager and walked out late last summer. We visited a month or so after the "new" kitchen was in place and decided we had better give the set up more time to attend to matters before reviewing. It was OK, just, but not great. Since then the manager has also departed. So, two weeks ago the 4 of us booked in for Sunday lunch. As it happened some other friends of ours had also booked in with several guests. Its difficult to know where quite where to start. I don't like giving poor reviews, especially to local establishments, but something needs to be said. The restaurant is the same, nice décor, great location, lovely outlook, and the service is fine and friendly, but that, I'm afraid, is as far as it goes. The starters read well, if a slightly odd combination at times, but the delivery was really poor. My mother's soup had the consistency of baby food to the point of being globulous, and had a strange dusting. Two of us had some sort of wild mushroom concoction. Elements of it were tasty, such as the picked (straw?) mushrooms, but the combination with the unidentifiable mush on the base and camouflage atop made the whole dish quite peculiar. The final starter was simply smoked salmon, not too difficult, but you do need to source a good quality smoked product, this tasted like something out of Macros. It was all too much of an attempt at style rather than creative quality cooking. Oh well, Sunday lunch is all about that fine English tradition, the Sunday Roast. When it arrived each plate full looked like the hill from "close encounters of the 3rd kind". A huge entangled mass of roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and vegetables, with a slab of meat capping the top. No finesse at all. We had 2 pork and 2 beef. Both dishes had a single slab of meat on top, a 10mm thick piece, overcooked, dry and just too thick. (We had asked if there was crackling for the pork, and if there was any extra, the affirmative response gave us some hope. Now not only did it not arrive the strip that came with the meat was un-crackled). The roast potatoes we soft skinned, not proper roasties, except for my mother's which were burnt - a problem with quality control on plating up one feels. Individually some of the vegetables were quite nice, but there were far too many caramelized carrots and with the red cabbage mixed in with cauliflower cheese, and a jus rather than a gravy, it made the whole ensemble very sweet. Oh and the apple sauce was in there somewhere whether you liked it or not. No stuffing with the pork, and the Yorkshire puddings were the giant mass catering type.Much of this could I guess be sorted if they served the vegetable separately so you could choose what and how much you wanted. Likewise the sauces etc.Remarkably we still decided to order desert. I had the crumble, and shall not do so next time. The others had the ice creams, which were fine, but were clearly not home made. Finally, the wine list has been reduced to war rations. Very limited. They still have the local whites, the Baccus and Willow Creek, and their sparling, all of which are excellent, and reasonable value. Their own reds are however pretty mediocre and there is no option for anything else that is decent unless you want to pay £60, which for a Sunday lunch is not really on. So all in all VERY DISAPPOINTING to say the least. God knows its a disaster compared to where things were heading last April, its such a shame.

We went as a group of 8 for my sons birthday on his recommendation having been a few times and had a very good experience, so he and his girlfriend were slightly embarrassed at the poor service and we had. To begin with we arrived on time and weren't immediately greeted even though there were only a few other customers in, maybe 14. Once seated we had to wait 45 minutes to even get a drink, no one even came to speak to us to apologise, they were obviously short staffed and working very hard but not a word. We were given 2 menus for 8 of us and no drink menu until we asked. we eventually ordered after about an hour, (we had to chuckle that the waitress had to tell us that unfortunately they were out of hens eggs so the Crispy hens egg starter was not available!) we did quietly mention that we were very dissatisfied so far with all the waiting etc.and they did give us a bottle of Cava on the house, but unfortunately things didn't improve. The food itself was very good on the whole, with the exception of the chocolate fondant which was very over done and no fondant at all. We had allowed 2 and a half hours for dinner and after 2 hours 15 I asked if we could order dessert (we had postponed the taxis) and I asked for 2 chocolate fondants to be put in as I was told that they took 15 minutes, they actually took 30 which meant that I had to leave most of mine, but it wasn't very nice anyway so it didn't really matter. We had to ask for the bill to be prepared twice and ended up having to keep the taxi waiting and it cost us an extra £10! It was a shame as we had heard good things about this place

Served with some beautiful homemade breads for the table. Main course was a beautifully cooked steak and pudding was the chocolate tart. We ate here on 12 7 2015 It's not a very large dinning room but clean and very pleasant. Staff are not exactly friendly but they are efficient. We ordered chicken liver pate, it was fine but not much of it, we would have preferred less lettuce leaves more pate. Mick had lamb for main which I tried it was wonderful, my pork was ok just lacked any flavour. Next was dessert which again was rather small and the ice cream was almost non existent. We didn't order wine as on other occasions, rather overpriced, just ordered long drinks to go with the meal. We would make other visit in the future.

Went there with a group of friends and was very pleased with the standard of food and also the wine produced there.Never had a decent glass of English wine before so was pleasantly surprised!Staff were helpful and location was great with a view from the restaurant that other places would be jealous of.

Three Choirs has become my favourite place to go for the most amazing food and wine. I have enjoyed popping in just for evening drinks and also for long lazy lunches with friends on the terrace over looking the beautiful vineyard. The atmosphere is relaxed, the venue is gorgeous and the staff are friendly and make you feel very welcome. I have also enjoyed a fantastic evening meal in the restaurant with my family. The food is delicious and beautifully presented and the wines are delicious too! I didn't think it was expensive at all for what you get, particularly in comparison to other restaurants/pubs locally. It is smart but not pretentious and it is the attention to detail that makes you feel you are having a very special experience. Well done to the manager, who is such a charming man, and his team for turning this venue around. We certainly have needed somewhere like this in the area.

Took a large party to the restaurant recently. The service was spot on and the staff were all very attentive without being intrusive. The food was superb and considering there was so many of us it was all delivered together quietly and efficiently. The manager even came out to ensure that we had everything we needed. We were all so delighted that we have booked two more large parties for later and Christmas.

Myself and a friend went for lunch during the week and the food was first class. The waiting staff and general manager couldn't do enough for us and were very attentive. The grounds are stunning. I loved it so much, my husband and I have booked to come for our anniversary meal in a couple of weeks.

We came for an afternoon & had a lovely time. We started off with a sharing platter & I was provided with delicious gluten free bread. Afterwards we went for a tasting where we had three wine & cheese pairings which were delicious. The tasting & talk was about an hour & was really informative. We sat out on the terrace & in the sun it was absolutely beautiful. We will definitely be returning!

Booked at short notice as it was Father's Day, but luckily they had room for 2. The restaurant was busy but the waitresses still had time for everyone.Very good price for the Sunday lunch, we had the beef, it melted in your mouth.Seasonal vegetables presented simply and effectively, more than enough for 2 and cooked to perfection. Will definitely recommend and return.

Although the food was "artistically to look at" but the quantities were rather small as vegetables are so cheap and yet this restaurant is skimpy on them. My host had to order additional vegetables so that we could enjoy the food. I dont mind gourmet food as long as there are plenty of vegetables as the meat and fish are usually the most expensive. I dont mind the artistic licence as long as there are plenty of vegetables initially as one should not need to order additional vegetables by the way of side orders. The vegetables should complement the dish. The starter and dessert was rather on the small side and the wine was a tad too overpriced.

Visited first Saturday of June for the Vineyard tour and tasting session. Charles our host was superb. Very, very informative and with a small group of ten made the two hours speed by with so much information about the vineyard past, present and future. The cheese and wine pairing session was excellent, and oh my, did we learn a few things! No more red wine my cheese definitely onto the Three Choirs White's! A lovely chilled afternoon, good company, excellent service, thank you.

I took my daughter to this hidden gem of a restaurant for her birthday and can't rate it highly enough. We had a wonderful view over the vineyard and the food was delicious, beautifully presented and the English wines were excellent. The staff were efficient and courteous. This restaurant is in a wonderful location and has an outside terrace for al fresco diningIn the better weather. When we left to go to the car, we spotted three or four deer running through the vines.Magical!

If you're after a quality lunch at a good price and in unique surroundings, this could be the place you're looking for!We tried the 2 course £15 lunch menu. Freshly cooked, well presented, and delicious! On a sunny day, you can enjoy eating on the terrace with views across the vineyard.Recommended!

Just back from a nice lunch and wine tasting at this great little vineyard. We had a very nice lunch and bottle of local wine then had a tasting session of three wines and cheeses. The food was very tasty and well cooked and the waiting staff were very good. Not expensive , there is a two course lunch for £15 and an A la carte menu. The chap given the tour (sorry forgot your name) was very informative about the vineyard, wine and cheeses. Would definitely go back for more. Bought 3 bottles of the very tasty wine. Thanks Mandy for the voucher.

My partner and I were at the Vineyard for a family members wedding reception in May, so this review is based on that. The reception was in a large marquee on the grass outside the restaurant. The day went very well without any hiccups and the manager was always present to keep his staff on their toes. The food served at the wedding breakfast was excellent. The salmon starter was great, the lamb main was cooked perfectly for me, though a little pink for others.Prices for alcohol were reasonable. The only slight down side was the temperature at night did drop and it wasn't warm in the marquee. Heaters would have been a welcome addition.

Sadly this lovely venue is let down by an incredibly rude man in a position of authority. If you enjoy being spoken to like you've just been scraped from the sole of someone's shoe, this is the place for you.

Visited Wickham vineyard last night for the first time since taken over by three Choirs. The food was all very tasty but we were a little disappointed that the wine wasn't actually from the vineyard, this was apparently due to the fact that the vineyard hadn't been operational for a while. It was a Saturday night and our bill for two people was £124 before tip, so not cheap but enjoyable. Just one issue that actually spoilt the evening THE SERVICE. For this sort of price my expectations were not met. Nothing unpleasant or slow, just inexperience. A couple of the young staff didn't seem to have been trained up properly, for example soup spoon put in wrong place and wrong way up, not rude but not polite either, curt responses. They only served café tier coffee which was a shame after such a nice meal, charged at other coffee prices, and not served with any mint , chocolate of petite four. I asked the young lad if they had any, his response was "no" nothing else at all.

This was our first visit here as we had previously visited the Newent Three Choirs Vineyard. Arrived for lunch and were shown to a lovely table with a view out to the vines and surrounding areas. Very nice fresh white linen table ware and grey/beige décor. Quite a small restaurant which seats about 50 diners. We ate from the a la carte menu and had starters of stinking bishop cheese soufflé, salmon salad with avocado & 2 kinds of beetroot and mains of confit of duck, salmon with selection of fresh vegetables. All were excellent and very good sized portions. We even made space for desserts of rhubarb trifle with ginger shortbread and crème brulee with lemon shortbread. A couple at the next table opted for the £15 menu with one of them having the largest veal fillet I have ever seen, which just fell off the bone. They stated they had eaten here before and couldn't fault the restaurant and food.We had a bottle of their own May Hill white wine, which was one of the nicest medium white wines we have tried and available to buy in their own shop alongwith lots of other wines and gifts.Service was very good by 2 members of waiting staff, checking meals were ok always with a smile .We didn't do the vineyard tour as we have been on the tour in their Newent vineyard which has more mature vines, but they have only owned this vineyard for a year and still improving it.Would definitely recommend eating here.

Have been wanting to visit for a while since the new owners took over after many recommendations from friends. Finally got to visit and was not disappointed. Took my parents for lunch. The food was amazing, service impeccable and the renovations of the building are fantastic. Looking forward to revisiting soon.

I just can’t see how their prices are sustainable. Charging over £4 for a flat white with oat milk is outrageous, so I won’t be returning.
