Thornton Lodge in Wyre

Came here a few days ago and will 100% be returning. Staff was so friendly and nothing was too trouble for them. Our food was amazing, came out very quick and was very hot. Thankyou

After visiting another Chef and Brewer not far away I thought I would try here. I have to say it was equally as good. I was greeted with a big smile from a staff member as soon as I walked in. The decor wasn't as nice but the food was equally as good. I had mushrooms to start and my partner had squid and we both opted for a rump steak for our main course, it was cooked to perfection I honestly couldn't fault it. Neither had room for dessert but I saw another customers toffee pudding which looked yummy. A lovely evening with lovely service and food. Highly recommend.

The staff were very attentive and recommended alternative items when they had run out of certain meals. Some would say running out of food and drink is bad planning however it shows that good food gets eaten and can be popular. The alternatives were very acceptable. Quantity and quality were right and we were not rushed.

We have been to Thornton Lodge many times for dinner and so for a change, tried the breakfast.. we were not disappointed ! It was delicious, well presented and plenty of it! Service again, was of a high standard and attention to detail spot on. We have tried other pubs in the area and Thornton Lodge is by far the best for quality of food, and exceptional staff who always go the extra mile for you. We look forward to our Christmas dinner at Thornton Lodge! Thank you Donna and Ben for the great breakfast.

just came back from having lunch at the Thornton Lodge, absolutely delicious. i had the chicken and bacon sandwich and my husband had the cheese board. both were stunning. The service from the staff was also brilliant. I would highly recommend a visit here

We were here today with family and had a fantastic meal and experience. From the time we walked in to when we left, we were made to feel relaxed and that nothing was too much trouble for Rob, our designated waiter.The food was well presented and delicious ,all staff were very friendly and the service was impeccable.Look forward to our next visit!

We choose Thornton Lodge as the venue for my Father's wake. We were offered a small section at the back of the building which was kept private for us.The service and attention we received was second to none with Melissa, Katie & others really pulling out the stops.The food was of a very high standard - the Seabass with Scallops & Risotto being a particular favourite on the tables. The whole meal was incredibly reasonable on the price side of things too.Can't recommend this place enough and looking forward to sitting outside once the weather permits again...

I had battered Atlantic cod and it was appalling. The batter was like rubber and the fish was grey in colour this is my second visit and I will not attend this venue again

Very busy here this evening , but they managed to squeeze us in. We all had the steak. Everyones were perfect. This chef can cook a steak! Staff were lovely. Thankyou for a lovely evening.

Pleasantly decorated & furnished & polite staff. The place is neither a restaurant or a pub, you enter via the bar area & then when you request food your escorted to a table in a dining area where I found the menu to be disappointing and the food even more so and the drinks are expensive in comparison to other places in the area. I was asked upon paying the bill if everything was ok with the meal and I gave an honest reply which was negative but delivered politely and this was met by silence, the staff although very polite seamed inexperienced and offered no explanation.I wouldn’t recommend this place to eat as there are many better places & more reasonably priced in the area.

We had a late Sunday lunch here. We pre booked as we had heard it gets busy. On arrival we were shown to a table and provided with a high chair. Our meals arrived after a wait of 15 minutes. Everything (4 adult meals and a child's portion) arrived at the same time via 2 waiters. It was piling not and well prrsented. We all enjoyed our food and would highly recommend this venue. We will definitely return as it also represents her good value.

Been twice before, great on both occasions. But this time! Ordered drinks which arrived after the long awaited starters arrived,future daughter in law requested a straw which never arrived my son had to go to bar to get the straw. Waited ages for main course. My sons steak was requested rare it was a bit rare but dry, no juices whatsoever. Future daughter in law was offered no alternative to chips, but was told she should have read the menu properly. Mine was ok.Did not bother with desert because we may have been there all night? They gave a 25% discount so we asked for the bill. After about 10 minutes it hadn't arrived so I went in search of it, paid and left!?!?!

Returned to Thornton Lodge to give another try after a poor meal and service previously, must say it was very good, a bit on the pricey side and not a brilliant Grill choice but i'm not complaining,and will go back again happily

A comfortable environment and welcoming service made this a pleasant evening out the food was well presented and cooked. Not the cheapest of the various chains would you get much you paid for and this provides good value even if a little more expensive

Lovely place very clean however expensive depending on what you order there's some big difference between dishes size wise. And the kids drink £1.05 for blackcurrant squash in a tiny milk bottle.... Was ridiculously expensive and disappointing! Staff were lovely.

Absolutely brilliant family meal last night celebrating my partners 21st birthday. The table was decorated when we arrived. The service was excellent and the food phenomenal. I recommend the Mixed grill. Thankyou to all the staff in particular the manager on shift for your attentiveness and excellent customer service!

For pub food you really can’t beat Thornton Lodge. Grapes at Wrea Green is the same chain but is never consistent

We arrived at about 7 pm last Saturday and ordered drinks at the bar. When I asked if there was a table available for 3 they said were very busy there will be a half hour wait. We said no problem and sat in our bar with our drinks. There were few people around and the place did not appear busy so after half an hour I went for another drink and asked the bar staff if our table was ready yet. She asked the chap at the end and he said that table is ready. We went to our table and ordered our food. There were so many tables empty im unsure as to why we were not seated any earlier. After waiting over another half an hour with no sign of any food appearing we had to explain to one of the many waitresses standing around that we could wait no longer and we left very hungry indeed. Not sure what the problem was with so many staff and so few customers.

We love coming here on a regular basis, the food is always outstanding and delicious can not fault it.

Can not recommend this place enough we keep on returning and the food and staff continue to be outstanding.

Arrived at 2pm for a birthday lunch. Given menus and drinks order taken. Then we were told that several items were not available because of an oil spill in the depot.

Had been to Freeport with friends and fancied something good for evening meal so we bobbed in here. We've been before and we weren't let down then or now. Even though it was busy being a Sunday, food and service were very good. Nikki our waitress was polite and friendly. Can't wait to go again.

We are on holiday nearby and noted this place was easily accessible with an electric wheelchair. We booked a table for 1830 on a Sunday evening for 7 people. Nikki was very helpful and although they were super busy and service was slow the food was good and we enjoyed our meal.

Pleasantly surprised by surroundings, quality of food and service. We were served by Melissa, who was so professional and really looked after us.

Two more visits under our belt and both evenings were excellent. Tasty, good value food, well presented, excellent friendly service. LOVED the “stations” - dog water and biscuits, blankets if you’re cool outside and sun cream if it’s hot! Added to the complimentary “necessities “ in the ladies room - lovely touch! We as a family of 7 ate here last night and it was delicious, we could not find fault with anything, the food was lovely and the staff very friendly and talkative which was very nice. It was very clean and in the ladies toilets it had a little basket with lots of very useful things in it, very nice touch. Would certainly recomend to anyone up that way and we would definately go again

Just a normal outing to have a Sunday lunch with my daughter and grandson but wow what a !lovely meal we were gob smacked so tasty we will coming again for our Sunday lunch the BEST

When visiting my daughter we always call in here for a meal, (which is nearly every weekend). Staff very friendly and the food is delicious. Can highly recommend the Sunday lunch and the pork crackling is out of this world. My husband is a fussy eater and had the chicken and mushroom pie which he described as amazing.

Visited Thornton Lodge twice within one week, the food was very good, although my husband didn't get enough custard with his pudding even though we had said each time that he likes to have a lot! The service however was very slow as each time we visited there were only two members of staff on show.

Visited Thornton lodge for a family tea on Thursday last week, we were served by Amy who was lovely and very attentive. Excellent choice on the menu, excellent value for money and excellent speed of service! Big thumbs up! Definitely recommend and will visit again!

We are frequent visitors here and it never disappoints. Food is always excellent and the staff work really hard and are friendly and attentive. The summer sharing platter is delicious! Keep up the good work.

We brought family for tea tonight and we last minute added another to the party, nothing was to much trouble they moved us to a bigger table and got a high chair for my Godson the food again outstanding, Nikki and the team again were outstanding we were treated outstanding and can’t say enough apart from we will continue to return thank you

I called into the pub for a bite to eat a few days ago and was very pleased with the new summer specials menu. I had the chicken with pesto potatoes which was lovely. The chicken was really tasty as were the potatoes which also came with a tomato based sauce on the side. The staff were really attentive as usual and I was served by Callum and Kyle. A great pub with lovely staff and tasty food.

Family meal, excellent customer service from Kyle, food good and surroundings pleasant. Would go again

Lovely food good menu choice drinks are fantastic the gin and cider flavours are brilliant, took a while to actually get a table after waiting around half an hour at the bar before we got a table but was worth the wait even the kids found something they liked slightly dearer than your local pub grub tho, we will be returning again soon.

just had lunch at Thornton Lodge for the first time , and what a lovely meal . The sea bass was amazing , the staff were all very friendly and helpful . Beautiful surroundings ,lovely and clean, would highly recommend . will be going again very soon .

Food cold and small portions , staff rude and unhelpful , didn’t take complaint seriously, manger couldn’t deal with complaint , lots nicer places nearby

We visited here for the first time and we weren't disappointed.

We had a fabulous meal from start to finish until it was ready to leave and we witnessed what I can only describe as a very large angry man shouting and being aggressive to a member of staff. He was in her face pointing and shouting. It was distressing for the member of staff and all the other customers that were present.They had asked for alcohol and rightly so the staff member asked the young girl for proof of ID which she didn’t have. The man was outraged shouting that she was 19 and what was the problem, it was explained to him that the law states they must challenge all 25 years and under for proof of ID. He wouldn’t listen then became rude and shouted and pointed at the staff members face. The manager intervened and asked them to leave, he still carried on with his tirade of abuse, before eventually leaving with his party. What a shame that not only did he cause unnecessary grief and upset to the staff and customers around him. But he leaves a review on here that is all lies. I hope this clarifies what really happened. This is a lovely pub the staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Nothing is to much trouble and I would recommend the food to anyone x

Pleased and disappointed. The young man that served me was really nice and polite and got my drinks as fast as he could and he was always smiling! There was also another lad who was lovely, he was wearing a blue coloured shirt I think . HOWEVER, there was one woman who didn’t seem to be doing much and everyone else was running round as it was very busy when we were. She just stood round talking to people and not actually doing her job, it’s such a shame because the rest were really brilliant! Very disappointed in her! Everyone else seemed to be wearing an apron but she wasn’t, very scruffy.

We went here with family who were over from Manchester and felt really let down.

Me and my Husband came for a meal on Friday night. Food was very good as always, as was service. Used gormet card which gives a good discount most days. Good choice of gins available which is always a plus for me. New staff member served us and was unsure on something but came straight back with answer. Good atmosphere.

If you want to be called a liar, be subjected to petty bigotry, called names, sworn at and eventually assaulted by relatives of the "manager" who not employed by the place whilst waiting for poor quality over price slop whilst questioning inconsistant application of unlawful incorrect policy then this is for you!!!!!!!!!

My husband & myself had been a couple of lunchtimes & enjoyed the food so decided on a Sunday night visit. We were seated with menus & just left, the people next to us who arrived after us were asked if they wanted to order, they said "no" & the waitress was walking away so I called that we were ready, so she took our order for roast dinners. We heard when the next table ordered, no one had mentioned it to us. So when the starters arrived ( 3 pieces of escalopes & 3 rings of calamari both at £5.50 I know escalopes are quite expensive but calamari??)we asked & were eventually told there were none so I changed my order to rump steak. Both main courses were excellent but I asked for french mustard & I know the other table asked for mayonnaise neither materialised. No one asked if the meal was o.k. & not once did I see any member of the staff smile. With a bottle of wine & 2 non alcoholic drinks the meal came to just over £70 so I would normally have left £7.00 tip, they got none. The food was great but the service was disgraceful

On a beautiful warm evening 25 of us strolled down from Stanah for supper.

Visited midweek. Ordered two main meals. Place wasn't busy but food took 20 minutes to arrive and then the order was wrong. By the time they had replaced the faulty item, the rest of the food on the plate had gone cold! They reduced the bill to account for this but it ruined the meal. The portions were small, would have preferred to pay a little more to get a reasonably sized meal.

Visited here a number of times with my family and not had a bad meal ever. Staff are always friendly and can't do enough for you! Definitely one on the regular visit list!

Went back here for a Sunday roast and booked a booth by telephone for 5.30pm. Arrived to be given half a booth but it was actually ok. The food did take a little while to arrive but I was pre-warned that a large party was booked in just before us and they would be given priority! The food was good and the bill with drinks came to just over £20 a head so more than acceptable.

We visited last Sunday for lunch and it was well worth the visit. The meat was very tender and plentiful, the veg were nicely cooked and the Yorkshire puds a delight. We both cleared our plates and were surprised how reasonable the bill was. The service was quick, friendly and efficient, we will definitely visit again if we are in the area.

We have just been to the restaurant for the first time as it was a treat for my wife’s birthday.

Food was outstanding, Nikki and the team were great I’ve never had triple cooked chips as stunning as theirs and dessert was truly amazing

Recently visited with friends and family after the funeral of my husband. Arranged for a buffet to be served along with tea/coffee & cake. Highly recommend this establishment, treated with courtesy at all times. Given a section of the Lodge where we could all reminisce , move freely and accommodated our sincere friend who was in a wheelchair. Food delicious and served the choices we had made without fault. Quality of the food outstanding and very well received.

Just been to have dinner with family. Food was wonderful, everyone cleaned the plates. The service was great.....a huge thanks to Nikki (the assistant manager for making our time so enjoyable) and Donna (trainee) for wonderful service. We will be back soon....... 😊

We called for a meal for my Daughter’s birthday. The staff were nice and friendly took us to a table and asked if we would like drinks took the order and left menus on returning with drinks took our order. We had mains and desserts the food was quick hot and very good. The dessert was large and great. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend 5 stars

Visited here today with my partner, food was outstanding, the service from waitress Nicola by far made the visit a 10/10 all around. She was very helpful and lovely and friendly! Nicola is a credit to the team!

Have had a couple of bad experiences here previously but agreed to give it one more chance as other family members like it. Glad I did - today’s experience was great. Service prompt and very pleasant, food very tasty with no long waits. It was early evening and not busy but we’d been at this time before and had problems; nothing to moan about tonight - everything was excellent! Thanks guys ☺️

Me & my wife have been coming to Thornton lodge for a few years now & we love it .its great that you can bring your dogs in the bar area, Chris & Hannah have a great team who make you more than welcome a special shout out to Kyle, Callum,Lucy & Kesha. Over the bank holiday we've met up with different friends & they all commented how much they love it here .we tend to bring our 2 dogs in most of the time but we've eaten here in the restaurant on many occasions, the menu has just changed & I can only recommend trying it as theres some tasty dishes on there .

Had a lovely time at Thornton Lodge, the place is fabulous, lovely staff and plenty of them, food was excellent and a very comfortable relaxed atmosphere, there was 8 of us seven adults and child and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the Clementine tart was amazing.

My wife & I called at this venue on our way home from visiting family in Yorkshire. We had had a long day & ready for a drink & nite to eat. We picked the wrong place. I have to say at this juncture it was not busy. I went to the bar to order drinks, my wife went to see someone in the dining area to get a table. I waited & waited, in 3rd place at the bar, I waited. Darren the barman is very good at avoiding, (a) work, (b) eye contact with customers, (c) helping staff who can’t cope. Despite Darren’s total lack of both awareness & customer care I was eventually served by the bar girl. Sorry no ice, how much change do you need? Come on. My wife didn’t have much luck either. Half empty restaurant, but, “ no tables for at least an hour. You could eat outside, but you’re food could be a while!!!! Why?? Won’t be back.

Mum was given far too much which did put her off alittle, food good but cold have been warmer. but it was mothers day.

We visited Thornton Lodge on Thursday evening and it was so good that we returned the evening after.

We were invited here by our daughter as a treat for mothers day. Stylish decor. Spacious. Lots of tables and not on top of each other which is a bonus. Special menu for mothers day was extensive enough. Everyone enjoyed 3 courses. Food was good. Service extremely slow but you expect it on occasions like this. I would love to go again and sample the ordinary menu.

Booked on line which was very easy with lots of time slots to choose from. On arrival the staff member was very curteous and efficient, quickly showing us to a table by the window as requested on the booking. Drinks were served to us quickly and we were given plenty of time to choose our meals. All the food was delicious and plentiful. The atmosphere in the restaurant is lovely, very relaxing, perfect for a night out with friends, as a couple or for families, well done Thornton Lodge we will definately return soon

thought we'd found a good place to take all the family instead it could not have been more diffierent I had to complain as inedible cold not at all like first visit. the waitress was understanding told to go to the till for a partial refund but the manager was called over to unlock the till and without looking up hardly said oh yeh you've complained before when had given a good tip before this was the last time we went

Lovely 3 course menu, plenty of choice to suit all tastes. Only gripe is the drinks are very expensive.

We were told we couldn’t have ice creams for the kids because the restaurant was full and they can’t serve ice cream in the bar area. The restaurant had 20+ empty tables! Rubbish service if you ask me!!

My sons took me here today for a Mother`s Day meal. I have been here before and recommended it to others. However, sorry to say I was disappointed today.

Went here for a bit of lunch and was taken back by how good the service and food was had Scallops and calamari starters beautiful come her for a meal well worth it and still have money in my pocket for a few drinks place to be had to have a bite of the Cala before I took the photo oops

We love this place to come whether it be for a drink in the cosy fireplace bar where dogs are allowed so great for after a walk round stanah, or whether it be for a full meal in the restaurant area. The menu is amazing with lots of choice especially for vegans a full menu for us! Good prices and really friendly staff. It's a great place to go any day of the week

Came here unexpectedly as a last minute decision to have a meal out, my father raves about this place and I have had a previous good experience here, yet this time it wasn’t as good as a previous meal there.

Good food, good choice and value on the early evening menu. Bit noisy due to children running around. As a couple it would have been better to be separated from them to a quieter area

Taxi let us down, so we phoned Thornton Lodge to let them know. No problem. We were greeted warmly on our arrival by Calum and shown to our table where we ordered drinks. We chose the Valentine's menu and ordered seared scallops for starters and Hunter's chicken and Sea Bass with scallops as main courses. The food was excellent and the service warm, friendly and efficient, particularly from Calum and Mellisa. A lovely evening.

We go to Thornton Lodge once a month in the afternoon. It is a nice clean restaurant with plenty of room. The staff are pleasant and helpful.

Me and my mum first came in mid January as a little treat before I went back to uni. We hadn’t been since the restaurant changed hands so we had no idea what to expect. We were so glad we went! I had the chicken liver pate to start and then the beef rib, oh my gosh it was one of the nicest meals I’ve ever eaten in my entire life! The service was spot on, the restaurant has been decorated lovely and although there was a little bit of a wait on the food it was so worth it! I would much rather wait a bit longer for my food and receive the standard that I got rather than them trying to rush it and me having to send it back! It was that good that we decided to take the rest of my family the following Sunday! When we walked in the door, the manager recognised us from the previous visit which was really nice. It showed that they’d taken the time to serve us and treat us like an individual rather than just another customer through the door. There is a smaller menu on a Sunday due to the large Sunday roasts that they cook but the menu was still varied and we all found something to suit us. The trio of meat Sunday dinner is to die for, you get pork, beef and turkey as well as pork crackling, vegetables, a Yorkshire pudding and the option to add a pig in blanket too. Would highly recommend coming here, we will certainly be back! Keep up the good work guys!

I visited Thornton Lodge today . It was lovely! There were 5 adults and 3 children and even though the food took a long time to come, it was definitely worth the wait.

We chose to go to Thornton Lodge to celebrate our anniversary, wed been before and it had all been good. We booked a table the week before so we booked in when we arrived. Hannah showed us to our table and explained the ordering system and choice of menus. We gave our drink orders and chose what we wanted to eat. Our drinks were brought to us straight away and our meal orders taken. We didn’t have long to for our food to arrive. The food was beautiful hot & very tasty. We were asked if everything was ok with our food. Our plates were cleared and we were asked if we would like the dessert menu or coffees. We’d had all we could manage. We went to the bar to pay our bill and thanked the wonderful staff for a fabulous evening

We went as a party of four last night and to say the place was cold was understating it. The staff were good and attentive but hard worked. The food was good but spoiled very quickly because the place was so cold. One of our group put his coat on, the ladies put theirs over their knees, not acceptable under any circumstances. A staff member told us the heating kept going off and coming on and apologised. Other diners were muttering about the temperature as they passed our table.

I went for my favourite hunters chicken as usual but had it with baby roast potatoes which were definitely a good choice. All the food we had was good and Hannah looked after us really well.

Had an evening at the Thornton Lodge with my Lady friend,the staff were very helpful, showed to a booth and kindly ask us what would we like to drink.

The vegan choice is very good and it's great to see they are moving with the growth of veganism. The staff have always been very helpful and the surrounding are very conducive and pleasant.

It is very nice Food At Thornton Loged But on the last visit we had a small issue And we spoke to the Manager and it was sorted right away wish is good Managering.

The staff and the ambience were very good.Food was served quickly and was first class.I would recommend the Sea Bass with Scallops. It was delicious. Make sure the waiter books the 2 or 3 course option's.

The waiter said that all burgers were included in the deal. Received the bill to learn that one wasn’t in the deal. Instead of apologising for his mistake and deducting the difference he just shrugged it off, so did his higher up colleague at the bar. Ended up in an argument over this, none of the staff giving in. So much for the customer is always right! Also there was no manager on site to talk to?
