Fantastic food and service. The Farmers Arms has a great atmosphere with very friendly professional staff.

Great pub restaurant, food its really good the fillet steak just melted in my mouth and the tandoori fish starter was lush and if you don't like squid like me ask for salmon instead thats what they did for me

A great venue for my wife's 60th birthday lunch, which was a party of 12. The food was absolutely delicious and we enjoyed the wine and other drinks. The staff were friendly and very attentive. The setting was perfect in the May sunny weather.

Lovely night … enjoyed out outside drink before dinner, and then food and service top drawer. Unfortunately didn’t get a name, but all the staff we encountered were top drawer.

Really enjoyed our meal, never disappointed when dining here. The staff looked after us and the atmosphere was relaxing. We will definitely be coming back.

We had a family member birthday and it was a party of 12, thankfully the restaurant was able to accommodate us even though I didn't book until Thursday 1st May. We were given the private dining area and due to being a large party had already chosen the menu which meant we weren't waiting for very long before we received our starters. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed their meals and there were no complaints from anyone. The portions were generous, in fact a few people had to leave a few bits due to the size of portion. We never felt rushed to eat our meals and leave the restaurant, we will be back both as a large party and individual families and we'll be recommending the Farmers Arms to friends. Thank you for being so accommodating.

We've been here on a number of occasions and never been disappointed. The pub has a nice family atmosphere and can accommodate single diners as well as large parties. The food is great and there's always fish specials for sea food lovers. We've always been able to pre-order certain fish food choices, such as oysters, lobster, and never been let down. The service is also great, all staff are attentive and friendly.

We are a group of a dozen men of mature years who meet several times per year selecting pub venues for lunch. We were very well looked after by the Farmers Arms, mainly by Nathan. He has a no nonsense style about him which we all appreciated. The food was well cooked and presented and it was altogether a very positive experience.

Good food, lengthy wait between clearing main course dishes and ordering desserts, otherwise very good prompt caring service. As usual an enjoyable lunch.

Went for my sister in laws 40th. Had their little private dining space and it was stunning. Service was excellent. Food was really good and they were just brilliant with such a large group!

Great food and excellent staff. I really don't feel it is appropriate however to let children sit at the bar on bar stools playing computer games. When the pub is busy this is totally inappropriate.

Really enjoyed our meals we chose from the specials Sea Bass and Monkfish . Busy early friday evening we ate in the restaurant listening to the live music in the bar ...excellent singer with guitar.

We had a late lunch, 3 o’clock. The welcome was warm. The restaurant ambience was lovely - quiet and relaxed with a few ‘drinkers’ chatting in the bar. The menu and ‘specials’ offered an extensive choice. The food, service and atmosphere all fantastic. The special starter king prawn skewer was divine!!! Staff were all friendly and attentive, but we weren’t rushed - in fact we had the table all afternoon. Although none of us had room for desserts, a shared portion of chocolate truffles with coffee was just the perfect touch. Utterly delicious! 😋 A delightful and relaxing afternoon!

This is genuinely the best pub I’ve ever been too. Every single part of the experience they provide is on point, the food, the staff, the lighting, the atmosphere. The food is incredible, the pie and the chocolate fondant were that good it’s hard for me to put into words how much I enjoyed it. Adam and Amber were brilliant, you can tell they take pride in what they do and you feel like you’re really well looked after Can’t speak highly enough of this place

The Farmers Arms, Great Eccleston, is a thoroughly nice place to eat. The service was excellent, and the staff were very helpful but discreet. The food was delicious. The decor is tasteful. I would highly recommend it.

Totally agree with a recent reviewer - ‘inattentive service’ doesn’t even cover it. We had over-long waits at every stage, even including a long wait before we could even order, then there were more frustratingly long waits before any food came on the scene. Serving staff seemed frankly clueless, unhelpful and were invariably absent anyway. We won’t be back either.

First visit in a longtime with family, go to say it’s now in my top 5 of go to restaurants. Excellent service, all the staff were lovely and the amazing food topped it all off. We will be back 😊

What a shame. The place is quite nice but it was a birthday trip and they just didn’t deliver at all. We waited 25 minutes to order and almost as long between courses. The staff are awkward and inexperienced, finding jobs around the restaurant floor that don’t need doing to avoid dealing with customers. Failed to deliver all the way through. Some real training needed. Won’t go back.

We booked for Chinese New Year and thoroughly enjoyed the food served from the special menu. We both had the crispy duck pancakes, my husband had Szechuan King Prawns and I had the Char Siu Monkfish. Service was excellent

Came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. Lovely ambience, lovely friendly polite staff and the food from the light lunch menu was delicious. Would definitely recommend The Farmers Arms and wouldn't hesitate to come back.

Lovely lunch spot in the charming village of Great Eccleston . Service is fabulous- very efficient and attentive. Great menu - the devilled chicken livers on sourdough are a treat 😋. My two friends loved their lunches also - fish cakes and a Blt washed down with a lovely glass of white wine . Very dog friendly as well so that’s a real bonus as lovely walks in the area .

We had an early booking(6 pm) surprised how busy the bar and restaurant were. We were greeted and shown to a table immediately. We both ordered the haddock, chips and peas, one small, one regular. Food came in a reasonable time. Fish and batter delicious, the small one a bit dry. Chips ok, I’ve had better, peas are peas. Tartare sauce tasted of nothing. Come on chef, make the effort, yours would be so much better than using a squeezy bottle. Staff were attentive, can’t say I would rush back.

Just visited this place intending to have a meal with my sister and our husbands unfortunately we were met by a man with a beard who assumed we couldn’t afford to pay. After he heard our accents as we were visiting from Ireland, he proceeded to say ‘Do you want to know the price of a pint before you order?’ not only could my sister afford to buy the drink she could afford to buy the establishment. I recommend this place ONLY IF YOU WANT INSULTED. 1 star to many.

Top quality food with great service. We went during a quiet period so have only scored low on atmosphere, will go back again at a busier time to get the dull dining experience.

Had lunch here and the restaurant had a quiet, cosy atmosphere, with a decent sized floor separated into several smaller rooms, possibly due to building extensions. The part we sat in had one side made of high windows making it very light and warm with help of radiators. The food was tasty, I had sweet potato and lentil curry followed by cheescake. Macchiato was also well made. Would recommend. Reasonable sized parking at back with space for about 25 cars. Service was attentive, if not fast, but that seemed to suit the clientele mostly of retired age not working lunches.

Our favourite venue for a special meal, especially if fish is our preference on the night Table service was friendly & attentive - meals were excellent. The only downside was the position of our table - would have preferred a brighter setting.

My husband and I have dined in The Farmer's Arms a few times. Warm welcome from the bar staff Even though they're always busy. the manager does not give up attention and friendliness to customers. Attentive waiters and lovely atmosphere. Sea food here is amazing. I had grilled lobster and it was very well served to my requirements and was delicious, as was my husband's fish and chips. We have already booked a table for our next return to the UK.

Superb! I regularly visit the Farmers Arms with friends and family. They provide a great balance with truly exceptional food (I almost always eat of the specials!), friendly and attentive service with knowledgeable advise and always a good atmosphere. While the restaurant area offers a proper dining experience the outside terrace and bar provide a relaxed and friendly pub vibe. Well done Nathan and team, keep up the great work!

Came in on a busy Sunday afternoon the place as a lovely, cosy old fashioned feel about it with friendly staff and great food - and our waitress, Grace , was particularly helpful and polite

Food was amazing, staff were great, everyone had a great time. I think they were a bit low staffed as it took quite a while to get our orders in but once we ordered the food came out in a good time and was beautiful! Would recommend.

The pub is located in a very nice little village, there are other pubs here as well however after a long walk we chose this one for a drink. We decided to eat here as well, especially as it is a “fish” restaurant. We were seated in a corner, my view was of a wall! My partners slightly better but the table was far too small for a “restaurant” it was “pub” sized. The specials were in the entrance area, to read them you were constantly in the way of other diners and staff, surely they could be printed! Looking at the menu it all looked good though very overpriced. £13 for a starter portion of mussels is taking the mickey. They were meant to be in a Thai sauce but it was a cream sauce with just a hint of Thai green curry paste from a jar, tasty but not as billed. And they were pretty small mussels to boot, Aldi bagged mussels would be a better starting point.No bread was served with it or to the table. My main was Halibut, a pathetic little 125g piece served on a huge mound of sludgy mashed potatoes. It was served with just tenderstem broccoli and the same cream sauce as the mussels albeit minus the quarter teaspoon of curry paste. They had the cheek to charge £25 for this!! About £4 worth of ingredients. My partners food was equally indifferent, perfectly edible but a total lack of wow, except the prices. She had a very indifferent glass of Muscadet, at way over the top price. As a fish restaurant there should have been some decent wines, especially the whites. Try Springfield “life from stone” Sauvignon Blanc, it will be an education. When the bill arrived they had added a 10% service charge to an already overpriced bill . In summary it’s NOT a good fish restaurant. It IS a pub with expensive food, mainly fish. Portions of the key ingredients are stingy and padded out with cheap carbs. I would certainly not reccomend visiting, it’s really not worth the money.

This is the best restaurant we have eaten in for a long time. The food was first class. Served hot, great tasting food and a vast choice of meals including a fabulous selection of specials. Caters extremely well for gluten free as well. The staff could not do enough for you. We will definitely visit again when we are in the area.

Oh dear, what’s going on at the Farmer’s Arms? This was once one of our favourite haunts for high end pub food and pleasant atmosphere. Our foursome arrived a little early so we ordered drinks in the bar and awaited our table to become free. Sadly despite knowing we were waiting, no one came and told us they were ready for us. We went to the restaurant uninvited and were strangely shown to a table that would accommodate eight places despite there being several unoccupied four place tables. After the starters, when asked by the the young waitress if everything was okay, I mentioned that my smoked mackerel rarebit was a bit on the cold side (it had obviously been left on the pass too long) , this was met with a giggle from the girl without any word of apology either then or later on. The rest of the meal, though unremarkable, was reasonably good and passed without incident. In conclusion I would say that the place has lost some of its “gastro pub” veneer and to regain its former standing, needs to brush up on customer service. Not rushing back!

The staff & food is always 10/10 - one of my favourite restaurants!

Went yesterday for lunch on valentine's day everything was perfect. Fabulous food, the chocolate fondant was amazing !! The staff were lovely and very observant and attentive. We will be returning soon .

Good service and gluten free options

The food was excellent but the service was very slow. Waited 20 minutes for table that had been booked. Had to ask to order for both the main course and sweet. It was also quite dark inside. The gluten free options were very good.

We had a lovely date night dinner (quite rare for us thanks to our wonderful kids!). We were welcomed upon arrival, shown to a nice table and went on to enjoy a great meal with good service throughout. We are looking forward to returning with our kids in the near future :-)

My partner and I walked from Blackpool to visit this delightful restaurant. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The decor is beautiful, with an open fire in the bar area. We could tell that great care and attention goes into keeping the restaurant clean and well presented. I had the grilled haddock and and my partner had cheese and bacon omelette, which was well worth the 9 mile walk. Thank everyone at The Farmers Arms for making our visit so enjoyable, and we hope to see you again soon.

The pub looked beautifully lit up from The outside on arrival. Inside was warm and inviting with lovely lighting. Reception staff were fabulously welcoming and were expecting us. The eating areas were gently ‘buzzing’ - an overall great vibe. Menus were extensive and a varied wine list. The service and food were both exemplary. Overall a really enjoyable evening.

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and we were greeted with a genuine welcome that set the tone for the evening. The specials were expertly explained by the manager, and each dish was flawlessly executed—flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. But the real cherry on top was Darla, the happy hound roaming around, spreading joy and adding that extra bit of charm to the evening. Highly recommend!

Great pub food and cozy yet contemporary country decor - enjoyable lunch, with friendly staff and best of all - very dog friendly - 5 stars all-round! Firecracker salmon was spicy but not too hot - salmon cooked nicely. Fish Finger Brioche sandwich was also good

All the staff is great, very friendly, despite how busy it was we were served straight away. Food is amazing. We definitely will be back. Also they have dogs friendly area.

We had a great family night, thoroughly looked after by Adam and his team. Four of us had the Chargrilled Venison special, and honestly, it was spectacular! The flavours and sauce that came with it was incredible. It was a great evening and we all enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

After being seated I had to get up and find a server to order drinks. One hot starter came on a cold plate. Main course plates luke warm. Bread rolls be better warm. Food was tasty and server attentive. Perhaps put these small things down to tiredness after the festive season, but if I pay these prices I expect the best service and food. I hope this is helpful.
