We booked a surprise meal for my partner, the organisation was excellent and it was really easy to pre order. The food was so tasty and the staff were so helpful and friendly.

What a gorgeous pub! We booked for our anniversary meal earlier this week and were so impressed with our experience at the Farmers Arms. The food was delicious - one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time served beautifully and didn’t have to wait long at all. The service was amazing start to finish, the staff were all so lovely and friendly and even put together a lovely dessert for us to share for our special occasion! Looking forward to our next visit!

So impressed we've booked a table for the festive menu in December with our family and we live an hour away. Staff lovely and very attentive. Nothng was too much trouble. You need to book it gets very busy

We had a wonderful lunch at the Farmers arms yesterday celebrating our special occasion. There were 2 staff on who were both welcoming, friendly and attentive. They both made us feel very special and made our day very special and memorable. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional

Lovely place and staff very attentive but thought the food let them down on this occasion, won’t be returning. Starter very bland and plain and two of the fish mains were overcooked and were like mush. Dessert was again very plain and tasteless.

The Farmers arms was very busy on Sunday with a party of 37 upstairs and the bar down stairs very crowded. The food was good and we enjoyed the atmosphere in the restaurant. There was only one person behind the bar and he was very good however he was run off his feet and as our table wasn’t ready we had to wait 15 mins before we got served. At busy times more bar staff are required. We waited 30 mins before our table was ready and after finishing our meal we had to ask twice for the bill. We were shocked to be asked by a waiter if we could leave the table because someone else was waiting. Not an encouragement to return.

This is a hidden gem. The food was fantastic, great choice on main menu & a super specials board with a very friendly & attentive team giving great service.

Too busy staff not as available as they should have been starters really good I thought wow then mains disapointing fish and chips loads of batter not as much fish chips re cooked gammon over cooked tasted burnt chips re cooked

The seafood here is amazing, I had sea bass which was to die for, and my husband had the seafood curry, it was amazing. The starters of chicken livers and the salt beef hash cake were fab. The staff were attentive and friendly, as you can see I did take a mark off the service, if you are of a certain age, being called guys all the time gets it bit annoying, call me old fashioned, but the food and the service are great.

We are regulars because the food is always to a high standard - particularly any fish.

It’s Saturday night and it’s busy a full car park and bar a bit noisy but that’s ok . The only trouble is when it’s this busy the service is slow, the food was nice eventually! , maybe go in the week next time.

Food lovely as always but I asked the waitress for a small roast beef Sunday lunch. I commented when it arrived as I would hate to see a full sized one. Lady next to me agreed. Still couldn’t eat over half of it. So imagine my surprise when the bill came I was charged full price. The waiter said the didn’t do small portions but when advised that was what I’d asked for and she didn’t inform me they only do full size or children’s. I paid but feel very disgruntled at having to pay and wasting so much food. Will definitely think again before returning. Although pleasant the waiter was very much of an attitude of tough.

Enjoyed a late afternoon drink in the outside seating area with the sun shining and not too busy for a Saturday afternoon, excellent cold pint of Guinness to wind down after having a long walk on the promenade near Cleveland 👍

We had the best time. Adam and the team accommodated 18 people for Sunday dinner to celebrate my partners birthday. The team were amazing, the food was excellent. A special mention to Adam, Nathan, Kyle and Kieran for making sure it was special. The preorder process was seamless. I would highly recommend.

This was a joint Birthday meal for an elderly lady and a nineteen year old girl. The food was very good and there was not much left on every plate there were 8 of us.

The food was good, the service fine and for a Saturday afternoon the atmosphere was ok. One thing that was a little strange was the smoked haddock I ordered was not what I actually received. On the receipt it was described as Grilled haddock and was £2 cheaper than the smoked. The grilled haddock was not on the menu. Usually a substitute is recommended by a member of staff, but in this case I only became aware of it when I got home and checked the menu on line. Make of it what you will. Also be aware of the 10% service charge.

Went in for a drink and a meal with my friend and were extremely pleased. There was a warm, friendly welcome from the barman who offered us drinks before our meal. The meal was in a very nice dining area with a lovely ambience about it. The food was very very good and we both enjoyed our meals The service was excellent and the staff were very attentive. Everything about the experience was pleasant and if we are in the area again would most definitely revisit. First class experience.

We booked a table for 9, a 1 year old and a dog and we were put into the private room for celebrating our Mums 50th. Some of us had travelled from Scotland and some from London to meet in the middle and had a house booked. The owner of house recommended Farmers Arms and so so impressed. Food was amazing, service was amazing and the whole general experience. We even spoke about booking again to try more on menu if we came back again! Thank you x

Staff are very friendly and attentive.

My wife and I dropped in with our disabled daughter and our dog and it had a terrific meal. Each of us were made to feel welcome by friendly and helpful staff. As the parents with a severely disabled daughter, sometimes eating out can be tricky. We've hit on a system whereby we share the feeding of our daughter with one starting (when she is hungry it requires 100% focus) and the other taking over when things have settled. To ensure we enjoy our meals too, we often ask for one meal to be delayed by 5-10 mins - this time it was my wife's. The waiting staff and chef quickly caught on to the logic behind the request and could not have been more helpful. As we were about to change feeding duties, the third meal appeared ready for my wife to eat. Each of us ate the most delicious food that was freshly prepared (and hot). This level of service is rare and made our day- thanks. Apparently, we bumped into a new menu and the (fully encased) pies were quite simply, outstanding. My daughter had the Fish Pie and there was a completely clean plate. I would happily recommend The Farmers Arms

Very long wait for food Young gentleman who was in charge of taking food orders just didn’t seem to be enjoying his job, was quite curt when speaking.Did apologise for the wait but didn’t sound like he meant it.

Sorry to say my Birthday meal was very disappointing. Whilst not wanting huge portions, the Fish Pie was a joke!No vegetables and no warning that it was served bare unlike every other dish. The service was very unfriendly and arriving with grandchildren not only attracted unwarranted concerns from certain staff but also from equally unpleasant customers! This at 6:30 pm. Not likely to return. What a shame!

Excellent new menu and food was delicious. Excellent attentive service as always from Alison and her colleague whose name I didn’t catch but had red hair. We sat in the room to the right as you enter which is a lovely room. The atmosphere would improve with some background music.

We visited The Farmers Arms on Sat 7th September for a birthday celebration. On arrival we were greeted by staff at the door and promptly shown to our table. We were situated by a window which was pleasant as it was a warmish evening. The table was just right for eight persons dining and very comfortable and clean!! The manager came and introduced us to our waitress(Cordelia ?) who would be looking after us.He informed us of the specials and made us welcome. Seven of us had the haddock goujons for starters and one the brie. They were excellent! We all chose different main courses and everyone was more than happy with their choices. We were too full for dessert maybe next time. The staff were very pleasant ,polite and accomodating and very deserving of the surcharge on the bill which when I went to pay was told straightaway was optional . The atmosphere was really pleasant and relaxed. We would all recommend The Farmers Arms for either a family meal or a nice dinner treat! I am sure we will be back to try the other menu choices soon.

Its nice enough, but service a bit slow. Fritters overseasoned yet potatoes underseasoned Baghis overcooked but generally ok

Popped in at lunch for a meal. Prices very reasonable. Pie, chip & peas was £8.50. Pie was half a plate pie with a choice of meat & potato, mince & onion or cheese and onion. Nothing fancy but for the price we couldn’t fault it. Staff really nice too. Would totally recommend for a cheap no nonsense meal. Dog friendly too.

Absolutely brilliant Sunday lunch ,great staff and reasonable price

This place is unreal! Dinner for four of us and every dish we each had was exquisite. From the scallops, prawn cocktail, Korean boa buns, cod, skate and seafood skewer. It has been a very long time since we had food this good. The cocktails are bang on too! Service was excellent and in general its just a lovely place to visit. Even though its forty minutes from where we were staying with relatives it's hands down our favourite place to eat. Fully recommend The Farmers Arms to anyone and everyone. Looking forward to our next visit already

Great visit yesterday for a meal with the family. Food was great and our waitress Alison was absolutely fantastic!! She is a credit to your team and made us all feel really welcome and special, especially the children. Everyone needs more Alisons working front of house, please pass on comments and i hope she gets rewarded for her hard work.

Amazing food with great service

We had a great night, thoroughly looked after by Adam and his team. Very happy atmosphere in the pub and that was good. The Ribeye steaks we ordered were tough though which was a shame. The Hake special and the burger were good.

Very nice restaurant, good service and dog friendly which is a bonus. I thought the menu was a bit limited and my cheese & onion pie was okay but not great. Not bad overall but not memorable.

Enjoyed a wonderful lunchtime gathering for family and friends to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday. The food and service were excellent. Nathan and his team did a sterling job keeping our party of 27 served with food and drinks efficiently and courteously. Many thanks to the whole team at The Farmers.

The food was excellent and good value but the service was genuinely exceptional, especially Alison who looked after us in the most delightful and professional manner the likes of which I haven’t experienced in a restaurant for many, many years. Went for my 60th and we had excellent service and brilliant food. Great afternoon had by all.

The food was very nice (though I think the chips were oven chips). Service was great, very accommodating and polite staff and everything was served in good time. The decor and atmosphere is very classy yet cosy

Just had a really tasty early dinner. We chose from the specials board; Steamed Shetland mussels followed by Pan-fried Cod . We gave them both 10/10. The service was impeccable too, friendly and professional. Just perfect.

Booked a table for Sunday lunch at this pub and were hugely impressed. We were met by the staff who were very welcoming and attentive. We were early so drinks at the bar was a starter to the afternoon with a knowledgeable and engaging barman. Once seated at our table in the very comfortable restaurant we ordered the traditional Sunday lunch with one of us having beef, the other chicken with all the usual accompaniments, all cooked to perfection. All hot too. Service was timely and efficient and the meal was 10/10 excellent. One of us had a dessert of lemon curd cheesecake, again superb. Big shout out to the draught beer - Hen Harrier - light and very enjoyable. The menu, if Sunday lunch is not your thing is a good choice of other dishes from fish, curry and burgers. It is definitely one of those eateries where you would return again and again. We intend to! Read less

Party of four who all thoroughly enjoyed a Sunday lunch experience. Three different mains followed by two different desserts all of which were excellent. All staff involved were helpful attentive and efficient. We will return before long!

Absolutely superb. Went as a group of 5 for lunch. We all had the 3-course set menu. Food was absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable. We'll certainly be coming back.

Couldn't have been more accommodating with my daughter and her allergies. Offering to make dishes ahead could eat. Outstanding service. Maitre d was fantastic and all food, especially Chicken pot pie, delicious. Can't celebrate this Gastropub, enough!

Saturday 20th July 2024 This great pub is not just a great restaurant, an old-fashioned propper village pub, but it rightly has a great name for its hand pumped ales today the bar staff/ owners knew there jobs and how to keep hand pumped ales. This restaurant food was well renowned but as I did not eat here I can't give an opinion on the food. The beer was handpumped and well kept,I certainly can. This pub has great, easy-going background music it also served a cracking pint of hand pumped ale Any real ale drinker would be well happy drinking in this splendid pub

Had lunch there last week. Can highly recommend it. Food and service first class. Lots of menu choices. Would like to go back until I've tried them all.

Food was epic. Servers were all friendly and helpful and thoroughly enjoyed it. Sticky toffee pudding is a must have. Best pudding I've had from any pub, anywhere. Asian platter to try next!

A very nicely kept Hostelry, with an excellent menu, but certainly at the top end of pub pricing. Four of us had pre-booked, and our table was readily available but the main member of staff, a young man, was certainly not the most welcoming of folk. Lovely surroundings, and quite busy, but food arrived punctually, and I would rate my Fish pie as excellent. Others in our party were also happy with their meals. A mix of drinks, but no bottles of wine, and all had a dessert. Total cost circa £154.00

Absolutely delicious food and lovely crisp white wine coupled with excellent service.

We went to try out their special ‘Egyptian’ meal. There was so much food we couldn’t eat if all! We had never had Egyptian before and if catered for everyone’s tastes as some loved the spicy food and others enjoyed the really flavoursome food - especially the soup and the lamb cutlets. The other favourites were the salads and the falafel and the accompanying dips. Would definitely have again. Was great to have the opportunity to try something different!

We had visited this pub before with our dogs and decided to leave them at home and go again. Sauvignon Blanc was excellent as was the Chardonnay. All Staff welcoming and cheery. My wife ordered the hake special which didn't disappoint, the skin was cripsy the new potatoes where cooked to perfection and the tenderstem broccoli had just the right "snap" to it. I ordered the monkfish special with miso tempura battered tenderstem noodles, pork and prawns which was unimaginably cooked to absolute perfection. Wouod definitely recommend it great value for money for such quality food and wine.

Great service and offer a gluten free option that one of our party needs

My partner and I visited today for lunch.We were quickly shown to our table and promptly asked what we would like to drink.We both chose the chicken gammon and leek pot which was served with chips and delicious vegetables.The whole meal was excellent as was the service.We will be back

WOW! The food is superb and I cannot fault it. We have small appetites so for lunch I had garlic mushrooms which I found excellent (5*) and my husband had Tandoori Chicken Skewers. He states it was very good but does say he found slightly undercooked and not cooked in a Tandoori oven. (4.5*) His problem. He should have said something. The beer was reasonably priced but my wine was OTT. 2x 250ml cost £17.80. Mind you, I love rose wine and this was delicious albeit very expensive. The bill arrived with a 10% service charge added but the staff are happy enough to remove this. All in all, yes, we will return as it was so enjoyable but next time I will book and ask for the table for 2 under the fishing flies painting, in the corner.

Came in for a beer only, which was good. Bowland brewery. Selection of lager's. Nice atmosphere. A pleasant place to sit and have a beer. Beer garden to the rear with extensive private car park.
