Thomas A Becket in Northampton

There was a brilliant band in that night and we were really enjoying them although they started late as the rugby didn’t finish until 10pm but the band didn’t complain and played for over an hour straight through until the manager told them to stop and I overheard them at the bar saying they would only pay them half of the money they agreed because the pub ‘wasn’t busy’ I am appalled by this I go to so many pubs to see live music and have NEVER seen this happen before You don’t decide to not pay a band because the turn out isn’t as much as you hoped after making the band wait over an hour to actually start playing. I also noticed on the pubs social media they only advertised the band 4 hours prior to the event So I don’t feel the band was to blame I would never go there again and will tell my friends who are avid pub goers to listen to bands to avoid Thomas a Beckett for the way they treated that poor band and to refuse to pay what they agreed was just an insult !!!!!!

Well it’s been a long time since walking in the Thomas A Becket. What a ‘glow up’ it’s had. The interior was great, price of Guinness was sub £5 which is insane in today’s climate. Whether it was the best conditioned.. probably not, however still. Sport was on the tvs which could be viewed pretty much from anywhere. Staff friendly. Only let down, I know this can’t be helped, but the builder lot in there for the afternoon drink, openly talking about getting drugs, along with the fragrant use of the C word every 2 minutes kinda ruined the visit. Still, I’d go back.

No atmosphere, the place is dead on a Friday night, the Karaoke was awful! Chef decided to close the kitchen early, so no food. Bar staff are rude and miserable, strong smell of Cannabis from smoking area. This used to be a busy lively pub, but appears there has recently been a change of management. Shame!! We’ll not be returning.

This place used to be brilliant and could always get great food and service. Came tonight tried to order food and was told that chef isn’t cooking even though supposed to be open until 8pm?? Place is full of kids, and no atmosphere. Feels like the soul has been sucked out of the place. So sad as we are regulars as have our offices across the road. Sort it out please!! We used to love this place… Friday night and it’s dead!

Tuesday night darts match. Beer more expensive than other local pubs.

Not been here for some time ....been redone quite nicely but I can see how it's been paid for ....£2.30 more than a nearby pub 300 yds away ...WHY ... A shame ,,😬

I’ve never been so disappointed receiving this dish called ‘loaded chicken Goujons’. Theres nothing loaded about it. It was in fact the most plain, driest meal I’ve seen. I would compare this to a kids play area lunch menu. Absolutely gutted to choose this as my lunch option on a Friday work lunch. Nothing more embarrassing then feeling like a kid at the dinner table. 1/5, wouldn’t return.

Really nice pub. Stopped for a beer while waiting for a train. Top tier playlist on.

Very nice pub, staff great and the regulars

We came here for New years eve. Great evening, not too crowded, bar staff were lovely, band was awesome.

Massive improvement on the last time I visited about 5 years ago. Perfect pint of Guinness and the new layout and decor is great.

Wouldn’t Piss on this place if it was on fire, DJ is a nobhead, woman at the bar might as well swung for me with the looks i was getting, ruined my holiday.

Food was very tasty but unfortunately served on cold plates had to ask for cutlery which didn't help asked for extra gravy which was cold not the best experience and would not recommend it

Packed on Saturday night with a local band playing.

Great atmosphere unlike any other time I've been and despite it being completely packed I didn't wait too long for anything but even when it was a full bar the staff would make sure we knew they didn't forget us and were coming over. I'm impressed. It's had some good improvements and service is impeccable. The staff were all friendly and coped well with the amount of people. The band was even pretty good. 10/10 to go to with friends for a good night out.

I only had 1 pint. It was a decent pint of Ghost Ship. Atmosphere was subdued, it was gone 5pm.

We just popped in while our car was getting a tyre sorted across the road! A bit shocked to have been charged £9.20 for a pint of Guinness and a coke! I don't get out much!!

Pre match beer and food. The food was good and a good portion of chips and chicken strips.The service was good. The Phipps ale was mediocre as was the London Pride. Reasonable enough interior, but lacking in character.

Perfect place for rugby fans on a Saints match day

First time we have been to this pub, what a fantastic venue, our server Caron was great, we all decided to have the Sunday roast and this was amazing. Will be definitely booking again soon.

Has just been taken over, so early days yet. All good so far.....

Since change of management this place is dramatically changed, staff members this evening were drinking behind bar while serving customers and absolutely no atmosphere. I’m sure a few members of staff had already been drinking before starting their shift. I waited over 10 minutes to be served a drink as nobody was stood at the bar and there wasn’t anyone else in here. Bar staff wearing caps inside and very unpolite. As we WERE regulars of this pub. we will now not be returning.

I didn't go into the pub itself but went to a private function upstairs. The room was very well decorated with its own private bar and toilets up there with plenty of seating and even a small dance floor. There was music on and the beige buffet was decent enough!

Its a very nice pub the only problem i had was the stair to the function room as i have disabilitys other than that its very nice

Nice busy local, refurbished recently, the beer tastes great, the lines are definitely well cared for. Has live music sometimes.

Great pub, great food. Top class staff that fit us in for Mother’s Day dinner at last minute notice. The landlady and bar staff went out their way to ensure everything was perfect for us. The roast dinner was also exceptional. Best pub in town, 100%.

Great place but expensive drinks.

We had a party booking here. The cost of hiring the room was a very good price. The room is just the right size and beautifully decorated. Was very easy to book and communication was great. They cater but the food was amazing. Extremely tasty. The ladies we dealt with on the day were lovely and Gaby was brilliant. 4 stars but only because the cost of the drinks was a teeny bit pricey and there was not much parking, but there may be parking elsewhere within walking distance. Would definitely recommend this place and we will definitely be looking at booking this place for future gatherings.

Poor over crowded and expensive

A brilliant landlady who looks after you so well. Came in for Sunday lunch & will definitely be back! We had a great Sunday lunch, with all the trimmings! The Yorkshire puddings are amazing! A large party all catered for and food was brilliant for us all. Great service, can’t wait for my next visit. Thank you 😊

Good pub to go to before watching the rugby, 5 minute walk away from the stadium. Plenty of seats in and out, but does get busy. More heaters outside could be a winner.

What a Friday Night! Great Staff , great venue and the group they had on was fantastic. Staff were courteous and attentive, landlady was friendly with warm welcome.

Great pub, quick service, friendly staff and punters. Well located as a good stopping-off point between sixfields stadium and the station (it clearly has many other merits too... but it is!)

Haven't been to this pub for many years and what a surprise we had lovely decor and very friendly.we were seated and ordered drinks whist we waited for our meal.We didn't have to wait long and we were not disappointed. The portions were good and very tasty. The staff were attentive making sure everything was OK.and we will return.

Went in for a quick lunchtime catch up with friends. Very quick response time for both food and drinks. Food was tasty and well presented. The lady who served us was very friendly and extremely helpful with organising a cab for my friend. Premises were very clean and decor was nice too. A great little place with a good car park, easy to find and well worth the visit.

Nice pub , friendly atmosphere but a bit pricey. Then again everywhere and everything is these days 😪

Went to a function here which was nice but soft drinks are expensive.

Pizza is very disappointing. Missing ingredients and just threw you a sentence: We don't have it, if you came earlier we still have it. And just shrugged off. Not coming back for sure.

Massive thanks to Gretta and the team at Thomas a Beckett pub Northampton. Just held a special birthday party in their amazing upstairs function room. The room is fantastic, great size and completely self contained. Gretta is exceptionally helpful and goes out of her way to ensure your night is successful. The food was superb, all guests commented on the good food. Very reasonably priced and lots of choice. Lovely pub and great staff. Would definitely recommend to anyone !!

Beautiful chicken roast dinner! Loved every part of it and especially the stuffing balls. It came very quickly and was delicious. The barmaid was so lovely and friendly as soon as I walked through the door. Ordered drinks straight away and was able to take a seat outside within 5mins. Came with my partners family and enjoyed every second. Definitely would recommended to my friends and family. Very welcoming and positive atmosphere as soon as you walk through the door!! Owen and his staff are fantastic, kept the table nice and clear and it was fast service. Had the roast and it was delicious.

Attended a birthday party last night in the lovely room upstairs, Graham served us all night and was amazing, pub is so lovely and clean. Highly recommend, buffet was fabulous also.

This pub is always worth checking out for the many live bands that play here. When it is fuller (eg after a rugby match) things can get nicely lively.

Great stop pre Saint's Rugby game. Always busy game time. Good beers and friendly efficient service. In good weather, outdoor tables are much needed. Also offers temp beer stand in the back courtyard area...

Some nice cask ales, including locally produced ones, and a good atmosphere; very little 'dad dancing' this time. Staff are friendly and efficient.

Went for a funeral wake, good food, lovely room, unfortunately not disabled friendly as upstairs, but very private room👍

Absolutely fantastic!! We have enjoyed drinks and meals over the last few months leading us to book the private venue room upstairs. The manager Greta is amazing at ensuring all your requirements are met and all the team are brilliant. I highly recommend visiting whether just for a few drinks or meals, the Sunday roasts are simply the best and great quality at a very reasonable price. Or if you’re looking for a private function room definitely check it out as the room has recently been decorated to a high standard and honestly the team take over and ensure you’re well looked after and all your needs are met. Huge thank you to Greta and all the team for making Grace’s day a memorable one 💗

Dropped in before the Saints Match on Saturday the 2nd April. We stood at the front of the Bar for about 20 minutes trying to get served. The Bar Staff were busy serving people 3 rows behind us near the door. Obviously your not welcome here unless your Friends or Family of the Bar Staff!

Went for a works doo. Seemed a nice little pub. Not as cheap as the chain pubs I think but then again where can you get a cheap pint these days?

Nice venue, decent live band. Drinks prices were a bit steep but thats UK pubs in general. Lager from the lines tasted pretty clean and fresh.
