Duston Village Chippy in Northampton

Wonderful food, will be coming back if I can park! Just a shame I didn't realise they'd forgotten the pot of mushy pea until I'd gotten home.

First time here but my usual chippy was closed, should I come again probably not but I’m quite fussy when it comes to chips, I struggle to find good chips local to me so I travel across town, these are far from bad just not good enough for me, sorry but Upton fish bar or Nicks place for me

I was disappointed, I was recommended through friends and through the awards won through the local news paper but the chips served at 5pm was clearly lunchtime leftovers, the fish was really good it has to be said but I saw the fresh chips coming out and as the first customer that evening I know I was given lunchtimes leftovers. Disappointing

Just came here for the first time. Ordered a large chips and they certainly was large. Chips were lovely and I loved eating them. I'll be coming back for sure and trying more food next time. 👌🏻

Ordered kebab without sauce..... Got home and chilli on it ...ruined it.... Called to change it and was told will not add sauce next time ..... Sorry av used you for over 3 years not again

We have been to a couple of chippies the last few weeks for a Saturday treat and have found the chips to be horrible. We picked up fish and chips from here, what a difference. It was absolutely delicious. Will definitely be going here again.

Had a very fresh crispy battered single fish 🐟 was delicious. I highly recommend this chip shop. Please note if this chip shop is quiet at all. They will reheat food give you dried out fish and older chips. I visited tonight and for the second time received dried out bettered fish a battered sausage i couldn't through and less than perfect chips note

I love this chippy..the best chicken kebabs the salads are always fresh too. Staff are always friendly my favourite chippy by far!

Asked for mixed kebab meat and chips.. 8.90 I thought was a bit steep for a medium... When I got it just a kebab no chips. If your not local beware..3 bits of plain chicken and a handful of donner kebab. Took two minutes to eat and still hungry... Go to brinklow its 7 quid large proper chicken with seasoning and loads of nice chips.. Never trust a Chinese kebab shop..

This place is awesome,,, winner of many awards for Best chippy, I highly recommend phone in an order for collection. Definitely better than waiting in the queue which sometimes leads outside, this place gets very busy on Fridays and Saturdays dinner time.

Really not impressed with the quality of the food. And they had no vegi burgers (or alternative) so one of our group had to go without. Chips were sweaty, limp and congealed. Don't plan on going back

Always tasty, fresh food, the cod is one of the nicest I have had, flakes away. Never had a bad experience here portions sizes are great! Recommend.

I've got to admit this place has gone down hill to the doldrums .. poor customer service . Over change and forget items..dare not complain as they will not take responsibility and blame you.. not coping with the pandemic situation at all well. Annoying regular customers enmasse

What a great Chippy! In fact! I'd say the best chip shop in Northampton. Duston Village Chippy is highly recommend. We ordered the Scampi and Haddock and all the families plates were clean at the end of the meal. A sight that always makes me happy. Thank you Duston Village Chippy!

It was cheap and clean but the were re heats from the night before so tasted all crunchy. The fish was fresh and tasty.

We visited my parents for the first time in 6mths, and decided to have a socially distant meal of fish n chips in their garden. My Mum's friend recommended this chippy. Very good recommendation! Queued for quite a while, but def worth the wait. Government guidelines being followed, a one in one out policy, with no more that 3 customers in the chippy at one time. It's obviously a popular place, a queue is always a good sign! FRiendly, happy staff. It was all very delicious and enjoyed by us all!

Was a cold wet night when we visited the store our fish was cooked in front of us and chips were fresh.

Regretfully I have given 3 stars instead of 5 as we went there on recommendation that the food was good, but unfortunately picked a busy time. The place was packed out with people waiting but that didn't prevent the people serving stopping all the time to answer the phone as well as allowing people who were obviously regulars jump the queue! Needless to say when we got home part of our order was missing as the guy wrapping our food thought the phone was more important. Food was great but they need to focus better on serving customers. Plenty of other good chippies in Duston so will be going to them instead next time :)

Good chippy nice staff nothing is too much trouble. They always make sure your order is right big or small orders

We purchased a cod and chips, saveloy, battered sausage, curry sauce, mushy peas and a large chicken kebab. Live 5 mins from here and was stone cold once home....kebab chicken was fresh but dry. All food cold indicating poor retention times on cooked foods. In particular cod and chips and peas were dreadful. Used to come here a lot. Won't be coming again.

Always great food and service, best chippy around

My daughter and her partner have recently bought chips twice and myself on one occasion during the past two to seven days. We all experienced diarrhoea, abdominal colic and nausea within twenty four hours of eating there. We will not be purchasing any food item again and could not recommend this venue to any person.

Been here a couple of times now and had kebab and chips. Good portion size but on both occasions the kebab has been very dry and hard to swallow. Chips aren't the nicest either.

Been going here for four years getting worse every time I go in the last few months hard chips again mushy peas are like green water chips are very hard taste less bitty every time I go and the Cod Roe is very small compared to any other chip shop I've ever been to . They let people jump the que just thought I'd share my experience and they very expensive compared to other take away 's

The chips are absolutely full of bits. Any decent chip shop would discard most small bits not include them. The chip shop is always really busy but I really don't understand why. The mushy peas were like watery green soup with the odd pea. The paper around the food was absolutely saturated in grease and you can tell that everything is cutting costs. I'd rather have quality food than cheaply made hard bitty food. Customers push in, to get the staff to cook food for them before they reach the till and the staff don't get orders correct either.

Love this place. Always have time for a chat and portions are the biggest.

Try to avoid where possible but this place is the closest in the village. Chips are usually soggy (but were ok last weekend) the kebab meat is cut so thin that it dries out and looks and tastes like it’s 2 weeks old (they have been told about this numerous times). Fish was ok but cold but the worst thing is the over charging. Happened twice now, only a few pounds but is rather annoying. Not only over charging against what’s ordered from the menu, they also fail to tell you that it’s cheaper to order kebab + chips, rather than separately. Essentially therefore overcharging twice over. If you complain, they get grumpy and flustered. They also allow more frequent regulars to jump the que which again is very annoying when you’ve been waiting for over 30 mins. My honest advice? Avoid where possible

Fantastic fish, great chips. Always busy always friendly. I've had just chips,cheese and beans for naughty lunch or fish and chips to take home for supper when working late. Worth queuing up for! Have yet to try the kebabs ....

We had a family fish and chip supper to show our Japanese visitors a typical English meal. The fish was cooked to perfection as were the chips, very tasty and not at all greasy. We would recommend this chippy to anyone, we regularly have fish and chips from other establishments but this was very good.

Our own fault but thought it may be different this time. All the food was cold, kebab meet cut so thin that it was hard and rubbery just like strips of cardboard. Cold chips, cold fish, cold curry sauce. Nothing tasted fresh, and if you tell them they get grumpy. Stay well clear

The chips here are excellent but the massive let down is the wait for the food. The staff can get rather rude. There really needs to be a better system of ordering as the queue is just ridiculous. It is a shame because the chips are brilliant, and the portions are plentiful.
