Thirty Knots in Edinburgh, City of

What a shame. Visited for a meeting last week to see on my receipt that a 10 % service charge was added. States on my receipt this is an optional cost - clearly something they are slipping ontop of costs and hiding from customers. Very disappointing and feels underhand

Went for Sunday roast, food was great but this is the third time we’ve been and the service just isn’t there, we would have had a desert but they forgot our water and our second round of drinks, We used to love the place but unfortunately do not think we will be back.

Views of the Forth Bridge are spectacular. The staff are friendly and quick. Great place.

I went for a function and was seated upstairs near the upstairs bar. The food and service were great, and the staff are really helpful.

First time visiting on a recommendation from a friend. To be honest we didn’t realise it had reopened since it was a Harry Ramsdens. Anyway, lovely, inviting interior & super friendly staff. Food was excellent & good portion sizes. No rushing & just lovely to sit, eat & catch up with friends.

First time we've been here had a really nice lunch food was amazing. Friendly and warm service. Beautiful scenery will definitely be back soon. 🤗 X

Came for a meal with my partner as we were in the area so thought we would give it a try , food was absolutely phenomenal, portion sizes were huge for starter and mains, service was quick and waitress friendly! Price was slightly on higher end £76+ for two courses each and we were not drinking alcohol however was worth every penny as we left very satisfied with full bellies! We will 100% be back as we both agreed it was the nicest meal we have had in a long time .

Had a lovely experience at breakfast this morning, staff were amazing and our sever Jack was five star! Will definitely be back as the friendly faces at breakfast are just what you need !

We really enjoyed Thirty Knots. The decor is lovely, the atmosphere is fantastic and Callum was a stand out member of staff. We really appreciated his kindness and professionalism. We had soup and some drinks. We really enjoyed the Cullen Skink. We would highly recommend this place .

A shout out to the staff at thirty knots we had an amazing meal there tonight, the last time we were there over a year ago it was horrible and it was only after seeing other reviews saying how much better it was that I tried it so if you've not been there for a while give it a go !

Food was delicious,there is plenty to choose from. Lovely cosy friendly atmosphere. Toilets were spotlessly clean. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Stunning view of the bridges from the gorgeous outside decking area.

Food was quite good, service also good.

Came for Xmas day dinner with family it was amazing food and service was fantastic Holly out waitress was outstanding smiley and professional will definitely be back

Nice local restaurant, always busy and lively. Staff can be a bit busy at times, but they are warm and friendly. Breakfast is my favourite time to eat here, but it's good for other meals as well.

Primero si todo el personal muy amable. Gran ambiente. fabulosa decoración. Cálido. Comida. Todos teníamos pescado con papas fritas. Lamentablemente el pez era muy muy pequeño. Si no fuera por las patatas fritas, habría tenido que pedir otra cosa. No somos gente codiciosa pero por el precio fue un espectáculo muy pobre. Viene con guisantes mushy. Otra vez la porción más pequeña. Volveré, pero al menos dar una buena relación calidad-precio.

Así que habiendo tenido una experiencia media previa decidimos darle otra oportunidad. Entramos por el bar que siempre se ve muy bien. Nos dirigimos al restaurante. Esperamos en el borde y nos vieron, pero no nos reconocieron, sino 4 miembros del personal. Finalmente el gerente del bar nos llevó y nos registró y nos sentó. La comida era buena y decente pociones, (humus de coliflor crujiente y haggis Bon Bon). Mains también bueno (lomo de cerdo y bacalao coreano). Servicio errático por ejemplo - Larga distancia entre la red -Nuestros platos principales fueron puestos y luego nos preguntaron ¿está todo bien? - Le pregunté que podía tener un sabor es helado que se servía como parte de un helado que me preguntaron si quería 1 cucharada o 2 , dije 1 . Cuando me llegó la factura noté que nos cobraron por 2. Solo un extra de £ 4 pero me molestó ya que eso no se aclaró y la respuesta principal fue ‘ no tenemos un botón para eso! ‘ Cuando llegó la factura era de £ 97 incluyendo el servicio tenemos 2 copas de vino, pensamos que estaba bien, pero en el lado alto, pero bien. Lo que sucedió después podría haber sido un error genuino, pero el servicio agregó £ 30 a la cuenta que me da cuenta antes de que mi esposo fuera a pagar. Se corrigió sin embargo eso y las £ 8 por 1 cucharada de helado dejaron un mal sabor que fue una pena

Encantador ambiente acogedor y relajado, excelente servicio cálido y amable y comida muy sabrosa. Volveremos. Buena ubicación lejos de la concurrida Edimburgo con espectaculares vistas de los puentes.

Really nice gastro pub, interesting menu choices, beautifully decorated. Lovely views of the forth rail bridge. Service was prompt (maybe the food arrived a little too quickly to allow us to relax). Thai chicken and Korean cod well presented with great flavours. Would recommend.

The food was fresh and served quickly. The only disappointment was near the end. My partner ordered dessert so I decided to order a pot of tea. Her dessert arrived super fast but my pot of tea did not come. When asking for the bill, I had to ensure I wasn't being charged for something that didn't arrive.

Had dinner there in the pub area overlooking the firth bridge. Excellent.

Recently had a training day at Thirty Knots and had use of the top floor venue. Perfect for what we needed.Excellent customer service, great food and drinks. Also well lit room, layout and even the temperature was spot on. Highly recommend and will definitely use again

My friend and I had a lovely lunch in the pub. It's a beautiful setting. Service was great as my friend was late, but I was well looked after. Highly recommend.

At short notice, Dovile managed to organise a small function for us for 25 people with family visiting from Australia. We were given the upstairs function room which is excellent with it's own private bar and amazing views of the bridges. The food was excellent and the girl who looked after us upstairs was brilliant (sorry I didn't get her name) Thanks to everyone involved at Thirty knots who made this happen. Gordon Watson

Lovely ambience, lovely staff and great food so what more you ask for? A great view well you’re in luck! Recommended stop for a lovely meal in a great location.

Drinks were smooth, food was yummy and David was a delight! The view of the water and bridge didn’t hurt the experience either. 😊

Relaxing venue with excellent food. Staff extreeeeeermly friendly.

Great kids menu, superb quality and good portions too. eg £3 for chicken strips starter, £6.50 for burger or Chicken breast and chips. Adults burger and onion rings great too, Fish and chips was decent (fish only ok)

This was amazing, I was served with Alana and Jack and ate the chicken Nagasaki and a king rib supper. They were both superb and so was the service, il definitely be back.

I ordered the pork belly and it was big and tasty but not cooked amazingly. It should have been grilled a bit longer so that it could have been crisped up. The Bao Buns did look tasty. I enjoyed the Beavertown Gamma Ray, it’s much nicer than neck oil.

We’ve just had a lovely meal at Thirty Knots. Great service, amazing food, friendly staff and the views are fab too. Can recommend the lemon & thyme chicken, coconut chicken & the chocolate bomb.

We went to 3 people and took the net... A killing. For dessert, the tofee pudding... It was really good!

In the pub, my friend's plate was three quarters filled with very average chips, a 'small' fried fish and a tiny ramekin filled with m/peas. I ordered the roast chicken special, minus y/pudding and potatoes,and asked for extra veg instead. The plate came with y/pudding and no extra veg. Poor value for prices charged.

David was the most pleasant and kind individual. The food looked awesome, we saw bao buns, chips etc go by but didn't eat. Instead we opted for a liquid barley lunch.

What a great find in searching Maps for restaurants in the area! Great food and fantastic, attentive service in a beautiful restaurant with outstanding views. We had the artisan breads with a lovely olive oil with pomegranate molasses; fish and chips perfectly cooked and sticky toffee pudding for desert. Overall a wonderful experience and would highly recommend.

I was with 3 other people and they all enjoyed their food a lot. My meal (feta and tabbouleh salad) was also good, but was missing a few ingredients. When I enquired about this I was told it wasn't missing the ingredients. I felt was a bit argumentative and took me by surprise. The service was very poor in that the staff didn’t bring requested water until my 3rd request. They did not check in with us, and we had to request the check and pay at the bar. Odd that I was disappointed in such a beautiful place in a stunning location serving great food because of very poor service.

Beautiful location and a really stunning restaurant. Had dinner here on a Saturday night, it was busy but still felt comfortable and cosy. The restaurant is well decorated with lovely seating, art work making it feel really luxurious yet warm and inviting. Menu is a good balance of different options, so there should be something to suit everyone. We started with the warm artisan breads that came with a delicious whipped butter? Stunning. Our table had steak and ale pie, the chicken schnitzel and the chicken bao buns... clean plates throughout. Deserts was florida cake, chocolate torte and chocolate, and rasperberry cheesecake. Great service from our server, she was attentive yet gave us plenty of space and time. Excellent location for a special treat.

Second time here , another gorgeous lunch in the restaurant overlooking the bridges . We had the fish and chips and also the coconut chicken . Highly recommend

Sent the following e mail on the 19/08 still no reply evening of the 22nd ....So thought I'd warn everyone! Avoid! Good Morning, I took the family for breakfast yesterday. I had the light breakfast £8.45, said I didn’t want an egg, but wouldn't mind more bacon - so got 2 slices of bacon, 1 sausage, 1/4 of a tomato and bread. My two granddaughters had the Kids breakfast £3.95 one got four sausages & bread and the other had 3 sausages, slice of bacon & bread. I’m at a loss as to why the adults light breakfast is more than double the kids menu with half the items?? We have been several times before, but I haven’t paid for it, so wasn’t aware about the prices. Look forward to your response.

Unfortunately the poor service let this establishment down, I don't know if they were just understaffed at the time but for what they charge I'd at least expect the service to be spot on. The food was nice but not spectacular, the drinks were good though after waiting ages for them. We'll give it another try to see if things have improved (update - we have since been back and things have improved on all fronts, we shall be visiting again)

We came for dinner on Sat 17th August. This was not our first time but it was for our friends who had the best time. They were really impressed by the service and quality of the food. The girl who was assigned to our table was Kerry. She was very bubbly and friendly and also very welcoming. She took great care of us and made sure everything was perfect. We will most definitely be back and I know that our friends will also return at some point. Thank you for yet another wonderful evening Thirty Knots.

He used the function room for my wife’s 40th birthday meal. VIP treatment from start to finish, with a lovely view of the bridges and we were looked after brilliantly. Would definitely recommend for any special occasion!

Why can’t most restaurants these days serve HOT food ? ?. Would’ve sent my dinner back to be heated up however in a party of 8 so stayed quiet. Disappointing afterwards to hear the group had the same issue. The food was nice but please, - why heat the plates if the food is not hot on the plate ? ?

Sorry poor quality and portion of food. I first thought that i was given a half portion of fish and chips. Cup of tea, that came without a saucer, needed to ask for a spoon and also sugar Staff more interested about who was to be given the night off. Would not recommend this place.

Attractive bar and restaurant with beautiful views of the Firth of Forth and the Forth Bridge. It would be nice to sit outside if the weather is good, which unfortunately it wasn't when I visited. I only had a couple of pints, which were good and the price was affordable. Staff friendly and welcoming.

Such a nice atmosphere with wonderful customer service! Their fish and chips were phenomenal; the best I’ve ever had! They were also very accommodating to our group when more people showed up than originally planned. I give a 10 out of 10! Would love to come back sometime.

We were gifted a Buzzworks voucher and opted for lunch at Thirty Knots in South Queensferry. The restaurant has a fantastic location overlooking the Firth of Forth and the three bridges and the interior of the building is tastefully decorated. The menu has a choice of dishes to suit all tastes and the quality and presentation of the food was first class. The service by a wee Australian lass (Alana?) was friendly and efficient. Don’t be deterred by the recent rogue reviews awarding only one star…..this is an excellent restaurant which we would have no hesitation in recommending to potential diners.

My favourite of the Buzzworks restaurant group. Great atmosphere and the staff are attentive and the food is amazing Rebecca is an asset to the Buzzworks group She is always smiling, professional and remembers you every time you come. The last time I came I brought friends over from Canada and she made sure we got the window table and was very attentive throughout

First visit for lunch and drinks today. The food was delicious, best steak pie! The quiality and pricing of the food was really good. Absolutely beautiful views to sit outside and enjoy a drink or two. The staff are very attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend 👌

Very good view to the bridges and Harbour

Incredible first dinner in Edinburgh! Recommend the rib of pork! On a bed of fries. I ordered mashed potatoes with the pepper sauce! Then dessert! Staff was friendly and accommodating!

Recommended by a renowned hotelier in Edinburgh, Thirty Knots lived up to and exceeded their reputation. The steak and ale pie was sumptuous, the service was attentive and Sam in particular was engaging and fun to work with. We, of course, had the sticky toffee for dessert, and it was marvelous.

The food at Thirty Knots is heavenly and the portions are enormous. The pie is the best I’ve ever had, and the king rib was also divine. The staff is very friendly and efficient, and the location is second to none.

We had a great night at Thirty Knots. The food was really good and the service of Alana and Kerry was super friendly. We enjoyed it very much.
