Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Food good although portions are quite small and a bit expensive (Edinburgh prices I guess) . But would still recommend a visit.

Been here a few times now and it's always the same experience: 1. Location and atmosphere decent 2. Food, quite good 3. Service: chronic The service let's the place down hugely, it ruins the experience. Apart from the barman, you'd be surprised if any of the staff were trained at all. There appears to be no one in charge, and the staff are all looking around at each other going 'errrr what should we be doing'. Such a shame.

Very bland food at extortionate prices. Had to ask if I could order rather than be asked. Had a chicken curry, rice and bread with kale on the side? served in a bowl with no room to manoeuvre the food. I'd suggest you hire a new chef as there are many reviews saying the same as I am.

Nice looking bar with great views. Service too slow and seems a bit unorganized. Biggest let down is the food though. Massively overpriced for what you get. 7 quid bread starter are clearly leftovers from breakfast, including brioche, which has no place in a dinner dish. Can't recommend the fish pie. Half the fish was missing, it smelled quite fishy which indicates no fresh ingredients and it was tiny. It's a 20 quid dish of the size of a starter. Won't be back, quite disappointed

So this was our first visit to this restaurant, it was a Valentines treat for my partner. We seen it had mixed reviews but still booked as we knew it’s Scotts sister restaurant and it has an amazing reputation. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly female member of staff that showed us to our seat. We had a drinks order taken quickly, looked at the menu and before long our very attentive waiter returned and took our order. Long story short all three courses were amazing as was the service. Warm, comfortable and very welcoming. Not cheap but nowhere is and definitely value for money. Again big shout out to all the staff we came into contact with as went over and beyond to make us comfy and welcoming on what was a very busy night for them.

My wife and I dined here a few weeks ago. It was a Saturday night but thankfully we were able to book a last minute table. Excellent setting and the restaurant is quite nice inside. The service was very good. I don’t remember having to wait too long. Staff were pleasant and helpful with menu suggestions. I was hungry as hadn’t eaten properly all day so had built an appetite. For starters we shared the bread selection and the chicken tempura. We thought the bread selection was nice with varying types of bread but perhaps a little expensive for what it was, coming just shy of £7. The chicken tempura was tasty and came with a nice dip. My one criticism is that the batter lacked crisp. For mains my wife got the fish and chips and I got the recommended king rib supper, which is slow cooked pork, char sui glaze, katsu ketchup, pickled onion with fries. My wife enjoyed your fish and chips but personally I felt that the batter looked wet like an otters pocket. Certainly not like the crispy batter they have on their website. The wife said the taste of the fish was lovely but I feel that the batter was a let down but I suppose that’s my opinion and some people might like that style of batter. The chips were nice and chunky. My king rib supper was pretty good. The pork has great flavour and it was a nice addition to the menu as it’s not something you’d usually get. Chips were fine but were enhanced by the delicious katsu ketchup. We also had some honey roasted carrots as a side which were decent. For dessert my wife got the salted caramel tablet sundae and I got the raspberry cranachan pavlova. I don’t know if it’s because my sister recently made such an awesome pavlova and that I had misleading expectations but this pavlova was a little disappointing. It was too hard and dry for my liking. My wife’s tablet sundae was sweet but still tasty and it was a large portion. Overall we thought it was a little expensive and maybe my rating is a little harsh but nothing stood out for us. I am not against returning, especially knowing they do tacos and bao buns.

Great restaurant with lovely atmosphere and staff. Couldn’t fault the service. My one big disappointment is the food portions and cost. I had the tacos as my main - two small tacos with some lettuce and pork brisket paste and a small pot of chips. This cost £18!! Wow.. it did leave a bit of a bad taste in my mouth and I left feeling robbed and still a bit hungry! I had to slowly eat it so it wouldn’t be finished within two minutes! I don’t know how they equate that to an £18 dish... my husband burger was a bit sparse too. 5 year old daughter had the Mac n cheese which tasted more creamy than cheesy so she didn’t eat it. Did think about complaining but didn’t want to ruin my husbands birthday dinner. Will likely go back for drinks again but not the food.

This was the first time my wife and I (and our dog) have eaten at Thirty Knots and will definitely return. Let me explain why. The service we received the from the minute we entered until we left was superb. We hadn’t booked but the Manager was able to find us a table in the bar, which is super cosy and had a great selection of drinks. There is a great selection of food on offer at very reasonable prices. We didn’t have to wait long for our food being served and it was very tasty indeed. It’s a very well run establishment with a great team of people who whilst busy still find the time to provide a super service to their clientele. It was a lovely place to have a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon and we will certainly return.

First visit to this restaurant and we were impressed. We had a booking for lunch and we were taken straight to a table and were given menus and enough time to choose before being asked to order. We had ordered main meals and they were both pretty good - the slow cooked pork was excellent , the steak and ale pie was a 4/5 - both were served quickly enough and came hot. I see other reviews about cold food - but that was not the case for us. The restaurant was reasonably busy for a very cold Scottish day with a mix of clientele - small groups , families and couples. We had a dessert and it was excellent and compared with other restaurants very reasonably priced. We live in Fife so this is reasonably close for us and I would be happy to go back and recommend for lunch - good food and good service with competent staff.

I don’t write reviews however having visited here and The Bridge Inn (both Buzzworks) over the festive period and both were equally as bad. As quite a regular at Buzzworks restaurants I emailed them directly and still had no reply. I appreciate the festive period is a busy time, however at the very least you expect basic service something we never received & found ourselves constantly having to ask for items, returning cold food items, tables to be cleared between courses and empty glasses taken away. For those having eaten here before will know how cramped the “booth” tables are. We were a group of 4 adults and a 1 year old - they put us at a booth with a high chair which was not ideal given the booths are raised and the baby in the high chair could not reach the table. I am no chef but the food was terrible, bland & cold and all guests left disappointed and hungry with one even calling into McDonalds on the way home. Given no response having raised these issues directly with Buzzworks, I can only assume they do not care about the food/service they provide but perhaps rely on the stunning location to entice customers. For those wishing to feel satisfied with enjoyable food & basic service I would definitely not recommend .

A little disappointing given on our last visit, when the food was excellent. The steaks were not cooked according to what was requested, which you didn't realise until you got to the middle of the steak. We did express concern and in fairness, the charge was removed from the bill, though the server appeared irritated we had complained. The chocolate fondant was burnt and inedible. I didn't complain about that, given the servers previous apparent irritation. Perhaps on this occasion, it was just too busy. A shame as our previous visit was why we booked for today

First time we’ve visited Thirty Knots. The restaurant has been really well designed and tastefully decorated. However the staff looked frazzled which I can understand at the festive period and tried to make allowances for that. We ordered the steak pie which was dry as if it had been lying for a while. Poor quality steak and vegetables were beyond “Al dente” To add to this every time the exit/entrance door opened next to the bar a force ten gale came through. Cold during the whole meal. Having ran our own business for many years I think we are more than forgiving when service is below par but feel these points should be raised. PS … The staff were trying hard but something wasn’t right on the day and you could feel that vibe.

We were invited to join our aunt and uncle for dinner at Thirty Knots because they had been told that the new owners had apparently improved the whole experience and the food was much improved. Unfortunately for us we were served by a gentleman who had a serious issue with BO. This was extremely unpleasant. The service otherwise was timely. The lamb main course was enjoyed by both my aunt and uncle, however I chose the steak pie option which turned out to be a mistake. The steak was tough and some of it had been burnt to a hard consistency and stuck fast to the serving dish. The accompanying vegetables were a disappointment too. On the positive side, the view outside in the fresh air afterwards was excellent. My advice, choose another restaurant nearby.

The Heineken silver went down well and the service was good. Only issue, our food wasn’t as hot as I thought it should be when it arrived (hence the 3 stars). It also felt like it arrived quickly which I’m always sceptical about. Decent food and the ingredients seemed fresh just a shame about the temperature of the food.

Maybe a victim of its own success, but in the run up to Xmas, ridiculously busy, 15 minute wait after our reservation time , to get our table and actually got asked to leave to make way for the next reservation. Food was fabulous, though, in flavour texture and presentation. We had starters and mains , no room for desserts ! Lamb and chicken were tender, but the sauces really made them stand out. Not cheap, but worth it for this food quality. Good views of the bridge of course, would be great in summer months on the outdoor areas, but inside, with hard floors, it was very loud ,so maybe more a group outing venue than a romantic dinner date for 2.

Came for brunch on Sunday. Large group. The service was perfectly attentive and efficient. Server was polite and friendly. The food was delicious, filling and great value for money. Had a look at the dinner menu and that looked very enticing too. Lovely family atmosphere with comfortable seating. Definitely recommend.

We went for breakfast in a group of 8. Staff were very attentive and the food was fantastic - perfect portion sizes, great quality and very reasonably priced. Can’t begin to recommend 30 Knots enough.
