A fantastic venue, great service and very friendly staff. A very relaxing experience.

*** They are unimpressed that I left 1 star regarding the fact they never seem to be open, yet they have social media accounts and don't think to use them to inform people they are closed on that day (we'd checked), so you make a point of going and have to find out for yourself, despite advertising as being open from 8am. That's "mind blowing". The fact they are never open when we try - that's mind blowing. Not sure how it's survived this long, as a business. Convinced this place never actually opens. Tried several times now to visit, when in York, visiting from Durham. First time we sat at a table in the courtyard and someone came out and said they were closing early due to no staff. Since then, despite advertising being open from 8am we've never found it open yet. Turned up today at almost noon and was not open, again. Tables folded away and door blocked with tables and folded chairs. Last time I'll be bothering.

Lovely hidden gem within York with a great outside sitting area alongside a wide variety of cocktails!

Best meal I’ve had in a while with the customisable Toad in the Hole! Atmosphere is stunning and is positioned in a quieter part of lively York. I went with the Welsh dragon sausage (homemade) which took my breath away. Gravy was delicious and paired with red cabbage for freshness. The whole meal was as comforting even in the heat wave as advertised! Would love to come back

Stopped for breakfast in this quaint little place randomly....honestly could not fault anything, food was better at a 5*spa ive recently visited!! Service was impeccable, Do yourself a favour and dine here!! Little goldmine find....took in the local history also from the neighbour 😉

Pool tables ar not cleaned and it costs £8 an hour +£10 a year membership not good value for money

I came here with my friends last Thursday on a day out to York and I can honestly say I’ve never had worse service in a restaurant. I work in hospitality so I know it can be stressful but there was not even 4 tables in when we visited so no reason for it to be that poor. After taking our food order the waitress left without giving us a chance to order more drinks so we had to wait for her to come around again to try get her attention. Once the table had been cleared and we were ready for the bill it took at least 30 minutes to get it. We were sitting with coats on so it was pretty obvious we were ready to leave but the waitresses on just kept coming down to the area we were sitting, looking at us and walking away. To make it worse there was at least £10 added to the bill in service charge even though we were only a table of 4 and received no good service. Also didn’t get a print out of the bill beforehand was just shown a card machine to pay my share. If they had shown us a print out of the bill like they should have we would have removed the service charge because it was not deserved. All that said though the food was very tasty and came promptly so at least someone could do their job well.

My 2nd visit after joining for the pool tables £10 for year. On both occasions I have have to spend 10 min cleaning the tables. Paying £8 per hour for the table. Is a rip off as all 3 tables need reclothes as holes in it. What am I paying the for. Impossible to get 8 games in one hours.

We have been many times.. and never had a bad meal yet, service, quality, can't praise it any better

Bartender was absolutely belting, attention to detail with cocktails left me amazed. Very fast service and the food was quickly delivered to my table. Good quality and happy with how it was.

Hidden away in the back streets of York you'll find the 1331 Bar & Grill. The 1331 Bar & Grill is a small bar with a small restaurant attached. Drinks are reasonably priced but it is as a restaurant that the 1331 excels. The food available is mostly hot dogs, melts and jacket potatoes and all are reasonably priced, (especially for York) and very well prepared. Some cocktails are available at 2 for £9.50. I would definitely visit again when next in York and would recommend that you visit as well. Reservations available.

A wonderful eatery in the center of York. I am no food critic but the homemade coleslaw alone is quite possibly the best I've ever tasted. All of the food that we ordered was delicious, right down to the garnish which, to my unrefined palette, seemed to be pea shoots, invoking memories of childhood and eating peas fresh from the pod. The order was perfect, despite my family of picky eaters and their numerous bespoke changes to the dishes listed on the menu. The premises itself is bright and cheerily decorated. Not that I'd make a point of trying, but I am literally struggling to find any fault with this place. Ultimately, the children cleared their plates and we fed all 5 of us for under £65 including children's pudding…..which does bring me on to one very minor gripe. There was no itemised bill (presumably to be paper-free) and a service charge had been added. I had to ask the server if the total already included a service charge at payment. Don’t get me wrong, I would not begrudge the staff their tip as the service was quick, friendly and polite and up to the same high standard as the food, but it would be nice to have the bill checked or explained prior to making payment. In conclusion, we will eat here every time we are in York, I would even go so far as to say we might even make a trip to York just to go to 1331!

Like all the hospitality businesses in the UK, they seemed very understaffed. However, the waitress was amazing. She was sweet, got us seated right away and thought with us about a possible other table that would be better for us. Drinks and food came fast and the atmosphere was good. Food was typical comfort food and the portion size was very big. Loved the place and we would definitely visit again when we're in York.

I really enjoyed the breakfast (off a very extensive breakfast menu) that we had here, there was a lovely vibe and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. There are just one or two points I'd like to make: - I didn't like that the condiments (ketchup etc) came in sachets - it gives off the whole 'greasy spoon' vibe and that's not what this place was at all! A bottle or a ramekin would have been nicer. - We had to query our bill as it came in about £5 more than we anticipated. When raised the waitress said that this would have been a service charge. I wasn't very happy that a service charge was automatically added to the bill, or that there were no signs or disclaimers saying this would be the case, just felt a bit sneaky!

We had breakfast here and really enjoyed the food. Tasty, good size portions and a great choice. Sets you up for a day at the Christmas Market.

Lets start with the postive....... we was sat quickly.. The male who served us looked like he had no interest in what he was doing. Ordered one tea and one coffee, a baked potato and a frankfurter. The food came out before the drinks (which never arrived!!!!) There was a hair in the jacket potato so called the male server across who again didnt seem interested in the hair. Said he would take the price off the bill!!!! Was told that they was busy with the one coffee machine..... Due to the poor service and the hair we left and did not pay (only had one bite of the frankfurter and one folk full of the baked potato) We will not be returning.

Quiet place if you don't want to be surrounded by tourists. They offer more snack like food rather than full meals but it is pretty good quality and reasonably priced. Offer full selection of beers and cocktails as well.

Nice location. But we're scammed on the cocktails, by staff who were weren't trained properly. Senior staff weren't bothered. Locals who won't visit again.

30 minutes at 2115hrs to get served at the bar is totally unacceptable. I have seen better toilets in 3rd world countries. Sack the manager and employ someone who cares where they work.

Great place, good large portions of ciabatta pulled pork and cajun chicken sarnies with fries and coleslaw and atmosphere is fab! Cocktails 2 4 1 all day too....a real find and even the karaoke man is a fab singer and very entertaining! Just love the vibe in here!

Went here for drinks in the evening, they have a cracking cocktail deal 2 for £9.50 total bargain nowadays. Such cute vibes in the courtyard, has heat lamps and a garden area at the back!

Perfect! A hidden gem just off the main drag. Great service, beautiful food. Often you miss the things around you when you only look in one direction. My advice... explore, get a bit lost and have a much better experience.

Amazing experience and will be our go-to when we visit York. The service was awesome the entire time. The server was lovely, made us feel welcome and added to the whole experience. The coffee was lovely too, the latte art was a nice touch and it tasted delicious. I had scoured the area online for a good vegan breakfast and this one went beyond expectation. The portion is very generous, my partner and I both agreed. Everything is well seasoned and there was so much avocado, I was beyond happy. We can't wait to return and would recommend it to everyone.

We held our wedding service, reception and party here and it was absolutely awesome from start to finish! Jodie and Jan’s relaxed but efficient approach made the planning incredibly easy! They were adaptable and accommodating to make sure everything was exactly as we wanted it, and they worked so hard on the day behind the scenes to ensure everything went to plan! We got lots of compliments from guests about our ‘lovely venue’. The food was absolutely fantastic! Service was happy and friendly throughout. And the accommodation was spot on. There’s honestly nothing to pull them down on, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them as an awesome wedding venue!👌🙏

Food was nothing special and expensive. Halfway through my meal the girl asked if I wanted the bill. Once I was finished, she was there faster than lightening. She said it was £ 18 something, which was even more than I expected. My mistake, I should have asked for a receipt, because I ended up paying even more ....

My wife and I had our wedding evening do at 1331. Jodie and team couldn’t be more helpful re setting up etc. it was a perfect evening and end to our wedding day. The buffet was lovely. The bar staff on the evening were very friendly. So happy we had the event at 1331.

Brilliant place to have a birthday party, small but friendly and atmospheric.

Favourite place from our visit. The food was amazing, lots of it as well. Service from the young staff was first class, (shout out to Billie), the young waitress who kept us supplied with 2for1 delicious cocktails, and also made sure we had a table reserved for evening, and the young waiter who also helped. Really buzzy place, great for all sorts of celebrations or just eating out. Would highly recommend.

I would recommend booking, they get busy for good reason, we were a walk in and got a choice of seats, one next to a very loud party and the other next to a door in regular use! Our fault entirely, hence I'd book if we went back. Lush food, i had chipchos with vegan chilli, really tasty and filling. The staff are all really pleasant and helpful, and the music was brilliant. We were dancing away while we were sitting eating :)

Excellent Breakfast I had the the Full English everything was cooked from fresh Bacon, Poached egg , Black pudding, Beans, Tomato sausage, mushrooms Hash brown and Toast and my Wife had Eggy Bread,Bacon and black pudding again a huge portion that was well cooked followed by coffee and orange juice Comfortable surroundings with happy polite staff and all at a reasonable price ! We definitely be returning for more of the same !

The food was lovely, nice vibe and pretty chill location tucked away up a side street. Have to say the service was pretty slow, with us having to wait a good fifteen minutes or so before order was taken, and then another little bit for another drink near the end of the meal. The toilet facilities weren't amazing either unfortunately. But otherwise was a good experience, lovely food as I say and nice menu selection.

Lovely place, came for the pub quiz, was only 2 pound pp to join and was great fun. Fairly decently priced drinks and just a general good time with friends. Would recommend!
