Thirst Scrum Bar in Richmond upon Thames

I celebrated a big birthday in the private dining room at the Dysart. Barny and his team went over and above in terms of thought, preparation and service on the night. We pre ordered from a great menu, which ensured the evening was very smooth. Both of my fish courses were excellent and all guests were delighted with their choices. It really was a very perfect celebration.

Since moving to Twickenham I have been awfully disappointed with the local fish and chip shops. Happily I have now found great chips and even better fish. Many thanks.

Second dinner in this restaurant, with a complete, good and very generous menu at £14.95 per person. The service was charming, attentive and efficient. Papadums were offered. Only regret: there is no half measure between the spicy, really spicy dishes and the non-spicy dishes which seem almost a little bland in comparison. I recommend less the buffet, varied and complete, including rice, naan, papadum, several varieties of meat and vegetable curry, at the very low price of £12. The only downside is that when we reached the end of the service, we had to find the meat in the middle of the sauce and the keeping warm system was not very effective. The dishes were barely warm. So, for the small difference in price, the buffet is definitely not the right option. The tables are spacious and the restaurant is well heated in winter. This is one of my new favorite addresses.

We come to Richmond about once a year & found this restaurant on our last trip. Loved it so much we returned & it did not disappoint. We both had seafood pasta, mine was with a tomato based sauce with hint of chilli, & husband's was creamy. They were both superb. Accompanied by a lovely bottle of Italian white wine it went down a treat. We shared the passion fruit cheesecake for dessert as I remembered how large it was ! Overall a great meal out & very reasonable price.
