AMAZING... Wow that was great, food fantastic, service great and staff very welcoming. Just googled an Indian near me while staying in Blackburn for a family wedding and this one popped up. Brilliant choice and just around the corner close to the Rail Station. The night after a busy wedding this place just hit the spot, "hair of the dog" Cobra beer and one of the best Indian Curry's we have tasted. Brilliant way to end a perfect weekend.

Attended for Valentines. The table was beautifully set adding to a great ambiance I had no. 36 - couldn’t pronounce it at the time and sorry can’t remember the extensive name but it was perfect. My partner had jalfrezi. Along with the mushroom rice which was light and fluffy and nice soft chapatis the meal was a success. Friendly, pleasant staff completed the experience. Will definitely be back.

Great place opposite the Weatherspoons pub The Postal Order nr the church in central Blackburn. Some of the best Indian food we've tasted. Lovely friendly staff. I had Grilled King Fish (£7) as a starter, which was quite spicey but very tasty and my partner chose Parippu Vada (£4.50), a king a chickpea patty. For main course I had Koonu Theeyal (£8.50) which were mushrooms in a mildly spiced coconut sauce with coconut rice (£3) which were delicious. My partner had Paneer butter masala (£9) and garlic naan (£2.50), which he thought was the best hes eaten. We also had a small side dish of Tadka dhal (£4). Definitely a place to try, great food at a great price.

My second visit to this delight. Very much a hidden gem of a restaurant. It's not your usual curry house. Rather, authentic, delicious Indian food cooked to perfection. Well worth a visit. I'll definitely be going back next time I am in the area.

Me and my partner come here often. We love it and it's a perfect place for a nice meal together. The staff are lovely and friendly and prices and reasonable and you definitely pay for what you get. I can not recommend this little restaurant enough.

Food was cold, lovely food just cold

Mine and my husbands second visit and it was just as perfect as last time. This time we both had a Thali. My husband ordered a meat thali and I ordered a vegetarian thali. I asked the waiter if I could try one piece of paneer (lol) as I've always wanted to try it and the chef incorporated it into my curry. Everything was delicious and the waiter was lovely and explained everything on our thali. We will definitely be back soon ☺️

Called in for an evening curry on a short business trip having read good reviews. Nothing especially fancy or pretentious about this place, but without question the best curry I can remember.

Great little restaurant. It has to be Blackburn's finest. Faultless service from beginning to end. The food is out of this world and so delicious with just the right portion sizes. Loved it x had a few takeaways too from here but the dine in experience did not disappoint 👏 👌

Distinctly average. Slightly pricey it was very quiet when we were there. Toilets are grubby & to say everything is advertised as "fresh" on the menu there are a lot of freezers on the way to the toilets.

Delicious masala dosa at Thira Restaurant in Blackburn! The dosa was perfectly crisp with a flavorful, spiced potato filling, and the chutneys and sambar on the side were authentic and fresh. A real taste of South India—highly recommend!

The chicken Biriani was delicious. The food was hot on arrival too. Will definitely order again.

Had a takeaway from Thira. Very nice service from the lady at the counter. Some of the best lamb chops we've ever had! Small, but very tasty and so well cooked! Chicken saag was really good, plenty of chicken, very clean tasting and not oily. Partner had a curried fish dish that she really enjoyed, rice was nice and fluffy, garlic naan was great and again not oily. We'll definitely be back!

Fabulous buffet for 30+ people! After visiting Thira several times and always having fantastic food and excellent service, today I had my birthday lunch buffet here and it was super! Highly recommend, thank you!

I know I should try other places, but why bother when you have found a restaurant that is so consistently good? I visited four times this month, and the food and service continue to be superb. Friendly, authentic, unpretentious...I really recommend it.

We visited for a second time, a few years after our first visit. Not much had changed, it's a no frills dining area in a no frills part of Blackburn. But holy moly is the food good. It's seriously good. We are big fans of South Indian cuisine so made a special trip from 10 or so miles away just to eat here. We shared an excellent dosa with chutneys followed by chicken 65 and lamb chops. They were both superb, moist meat, richly spiced and perfectly seasoned. The lamb chops in particular, were to die for. We shared just one main course, a Kerelan fish stew. Once again, the protein was faultlessly cooked in a beautifully spiced, rich and velvety sauce. The seasoning was again, perfect. We had that with rice and a naan. The only miniscule thing I'd have had slightly differently would have been a little more charring on the naan but it was a genuinely top drawer meal and with good service and friendly waiter. We are not going to leave it years again. In fact, we may not even leave it weeks. Its that good it merits the trip out and a 20 mile round trip.

This restaurant is not a big place and sited right in the town centre opposite pubs and takeaways. It’s nothing fancy but the quality of the food is excellent. Probably the best curry we have ever tasted. Everyone in our party agreed.

Amazed to find the superb restaurant on Uber Eats, tried their home delivery for the first time and from placing the order it was on my table within 35 minutes. Hot, fresh and plentiful! A mix of chicken tikka, poppadoms and onion bhaji to start, all with fresh sauces. Followed by a chicken biryani and King prawn masala with I think mango and tomatoes. Astonishingly good all for just over £30.00 to the door, so excellent value. Next time we’ll visit the restaurant itself. 10/10!

Arrived unannounced and received a very warm welcome. The menu is a southern Indian flavour, very gentle. Portions sizes are perfect, no wastage and the price very decent

My first visit to the restaurant gutted I didn't know about it 8 years ago. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our southern Indian culinary experience. The poppadoms were light, thin and crispy, onion bjais were delicate and delicious with chutney and fresh salad. I ordered the prawn mango curry and lemon rice , prawns cooked to perfection. The spices did not overwhelm the dish everything was perfect. My friend ordered spinach and chicken with mushroom rice and she could not fault anything. The staff were warm and friendly with beautiful smiles. The owner made us feel very special, thank you 🙏 . Restaurant busy with regulars and I'm happy to say I'll be a regular too. Can't wait for my next visit, I can highly recommend a visit and you won't be disappointed. I know my food and I scraped the dishes because I was too polite to lick the plates 😋😋😋😋😋 Everything was freshly cooked, portion sizes just right and definitely not overpriced. See you soon 👍😁

The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the aubergine curry was the best I ever had. 💯 recommended. Amazing vegan options - ask for their aubergine curry, and you won't be disappointed.

OMG, honestly just so delicious! They have an ability to accommodate options with no seed oils. Like Naadan beef with coconut oil, Aapam, or ginger lamb chops with toned down spice.

We just walked in to the nearest place to our accommodation and found a delight. This is a really great indian restaurant with very well done & varied food at very reasonable prices. The service is also friendly and effective. You could not ask for more.

chicken 65 had 10 small pieces of chicken , no salad at all and for £6 I find very expensive , £11.50 for the lamb rogan josh came in a small container and that was it, not even any boiled rice . portions are ridiculous for the price . if I could add photos I would . won't be ordering again . way over priced

My parents recommended this place and it didn’t disappoint! We enjoyed a mid week lunch. We ordered poppadoms, onion bhajis, paneer with peppers, a Thali each and a take away for my mum 😁 everything was delicious! Fresh, fragrant and authentic… The gentleman serving us said that the owners are from Kerala, South India and this is the food their mums make every day. Service was warm and welcoming and our meal was thoroughly enjoyed by all, we will be back :)

We visited here recently based on the good reviews and we're not disappointed! It doesn't look much from the outside and it's very basic decor inside, but wow, the food is so different to any Indian restaurant we've been to before. The staff were lovely too. And the prices are very reasonable. We will definitely return and I highly recommend if you're looking for Indian food that's a little different.

Fantastic authentic Keralan food, the staff are amazing, this is NOT your standard curry house. A must for all Genuine food lovers. Keep a look out for the auto rickshaw (tuktuk) often seen outside.

Everybody in the family loves the food from Thira.

We took our vegan/vegetarian neighbours for lunch . They had never eaten South Indian food.It was a wonderful experience for them and for us too. The food was excellent and theservice was great . We highly recommend it . Our friends are planning to return soon with their family.

What a treat. Unassuming Southern Indian restaurant near to Blackburn Cathedral that serves delicious food from a wide ranging and interesting menu. Wonderfully polite and attentive staff and a charming owner who proudly showed us his latest award which is so well deserved. Fantastic value too. Would love to return.

Delicious scallops and chicken to start. King fish Alleppe and masala prawns as main alongside vegetables with coconut and parota. Gulab jamon and kulfi to finish. Having just returned from Kerala it was a delight to eat such authentic food. I will definitely come back if I visit this area again. Thank you!

This was my fourth experience of Thira (other than visiting Santorini!). On each visit the waiters and waitresses have been as friendly and efficient as the food is exquisite and tasty. It has been This is quality food not fast processed food; sometimes it takes a good while for the food to arrive the price reflects the costs that this involves. As an occasional treat it is well worth it for me. I hope that the sibling venture in Bolton succeeds and that this wonderful Blackburn branch continues to delight diners for many years to come.

the lemon rice is banging,abit stingy on dosa filling tho when you consider it £8.50! had about 4 different curries from here now & they basically taste very similar…I love thira but the curries look & taste size for £10.50 curry shud be abit bigger

We’ve had Thira many times but last night they forgot to put a couple of items in our order.

Me and my friends went to Thira for food and ordered appam and stew. Stew was good but the appam they served was so thin even the fishing net is much thicker than that appam. We told the waiter about the appam but they didn't care to bother about anything. I don't think it is fair to serve food like that to customers when they are charging a good amount of money. I forgot to take a picture otherwise i would have posted pics of that appam.. Coz it was that so disappointing experience. 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

The food we ordered was delicious. We have been to the restaurant a few times but today it was too cold to venture out again. The quality of the take away food was just as good as when we visit. It’s become one of my favourite places to eat in Blackburn.

I visited for the first time today for dinner with my partner and two children. We had already looked on here and decided we'd all try a Thali each but was informed these are only available Monday to Friday so we were abit disappointed however our food was all amazing. I ordered the butter chicken, my partner ordered a dosa with a tarka dhal, daughter ordered a tikka masala and son ordered a prawn puri with chips. Everything was perfect and we will definitely go again to try a Thali :)

From the door being opened for us and seated down, this restaurant does service and speciality on another level. The staff are so lovely, polite, know what is in the dishes and friendly, The food is nothing short of outstanding. This is better than indian food which i love but this restaurant takes it to another level. Absolutely loved it and came back again the next day for more. Try the Dosas....

So the food and atmosphere was generally good. However when I was served my jalfrezi the waiter dropped it and the sauce spilled all over my table and windows. I got an apology but no discount or refund at all! Waiter thought it was funny I would ask for a discount!

Had a takeaway from here and it was so good. I love Indian food and think this is my new favourite place. There are dishes on the menu that I’ve not heard of before and can’t wait to try them. I hadn’t had a masala dosa before and it was delicious, really light and tasty. Would recommend the seek kebab and the king fish. Also really lovely parathas, not greasy at all. Ordered the chicken tikka masala for my little boy and it was so much better than your average tikka masala. They should be very proud of their chefs! Excellent.

This was great food. The spices and flavours are amazing. Love it when you get both and the taste is like a good fine wine dazzling your taste buds. Well done. And an excellent value. Starters and mains with drinks. £37.50. What’s more to say.
