Shad House Tandoori in Blackburn with Darwen

We have been having takeaways from Abdul at Shad House for over 12 years now and have never been disappointed!! The food is wonderful, nicely prepared and packaged, the flavours superb. It's been especially challenging for the Shad House team with our diverse tastes - my wife has extra, extra, mild korma and I have jalfrezi with extra green chillies! Nonetheless, Shad House has consistently delivered and always with politeness and a smile! Long may it continue!

Ordered a curry last night, took over 1 and a half hours to come, curry was awful grease on top of curry alot, chips looked like they was from days ago, usually good food from there both me and my mum are poorly bad stomach ache and sickness 😷

My brother ordered from here last night michael baldwin .the food was swimming in greese it all went in the bin .the little bit of what my mum had gave her bad runs today

Nice friendly staff, Metal tin to keep your roti warm in was quite kool.

Do not order unless you want to wait 2.5hrs to be told your order is on its way obviously don’t have the staff to cope when it’s busy.

Awful curry I've heard good things about this place for years finally decided to try it had a chicken tikka Madras it wasn't even edible it was stodgy looked and tasted like it had been on heat for at the very least 12 hours the garlic nanns terrible tasted very strange and fell apart in your hands im so shocked this place has good reviews so misleading I love curry tried places all over and I wouldn't pay 2 quid for this meal for 2! Popadom and onion was the only this that tasted how they should batched cooked and whacked in the slow cooker me thinks

Absolutely banging scran, best curry house around

Not been for a couple of years decided to give a try back to one of the best in Blackburn, will now be my go to curry house, went tonight 11th September 2023, the worst curry I have had in years, 3 out of the 4 meals binned, no salad with any of the starter's, garlic nan was raw garlic mixed with a bit of butter, definitely don't go here, must be new owners or something,

Nice staff on the phones, quick delivery, excellent curries, big portions with lots of flavour and meat. The rice was very nice also in generous portions. Chapattis were good. I wouldn't order chips again. They were good but very small portions for the cost. Overall good value for money and will definitely order from here again.

Very disappointing, both currys very dry, no sauce. Chicken very dry and tasteless. Everything luke warm when it arrived. Chips anaemic. Overall very disappointed. Wasn't worth the money

Been to Shad House many times over the years and it never fails to impress. The food is delicious and always hits the spot and the staff very friendly and can never do enough for you. I’ve tried many dishes on the menu and I can’t say there is one which hasn’t been cooked to perfection. Highly recommended. Thank you Shad House

Amazing food every time! The choice of dishes is fantastic and no matter which one I order, it never fails to tantalise the taste buds. Great customer service and food always arrives on time and piping hot. A must try.

Placed an order at 1705 and was advised it would be about 40 mins to be collected. It was ready at 1830!!. The food itself was not good in my opinion. You could taste old burnt oil on the fried stuff. Considering our order was almost £80 and most of it wasn't eaten as it was nasty, I won't be going again. Bit of a shame as it was recommended to us by others.

We went for my grandaughters birthday. It was absolutely fantastic. The food was cooked to our requirements And all fresh. We had the Sunday buffet. You could choose what you wanted and it wasn't just a basic buffet. You git to choose what starters and main you wanted.

Got a curry last night and it was delicious the good is very freshly made and its beats Kyber anyday I will definitely recommend this curryhouse

Lovely family run business. Over 20yrs I’ve tried everything on the menu and enjoyed all bar one. They have something for everyone. Consistency of flavour, freshness and quality. Their Shashlik dish is sublime. Highly recommend Shad House.

Without doubt the best curries I've had, and on multiple occasions.. I've tried a range of curries and every one was exceptional, the starter "aloo chop" is a hidden gem... Lamb dishes are really succulent and (as are the other dishes) always cooked to perfection.. Its clear that these guys take great pride in what they do and what they produce/create. Service is warm and friendly and the prices are great value.. you will not be disappointed ordering or eating here.

Delicious lamb chops and king prawn zaffroni. The vegetable curry was excellent and the pilau rice was fluffy and extremely tasty. Great value for money too.

You can tell when a chef cares about the quality of his food within the actual taste. Absolutely quality.

Always a good meal highly recommended, bit of an issue with a couple of missing items, but quickly sorted and dropped off service with a smile.

First time customer and will now be a long standing customer if they maintain the standards I experienced last night. I have tried more Indians than I can remember and this was one of the best. From the phone order being taken by a well mannered person who checked the order through and gave an honest, realistic time frame. Through to the polite chap who delivered the food, acknowledged I was a first time customer and made an effort to talk; and onto the quality of the food - clean, exceptionally tasty, good portion size and a diverse menu which gave me new tastes. I can't wait to go back. Well done on exemplary all round service and food.

Had a great eve with my best friend for the buffet the food was really good we had a mixture of starters tandoori chick, tikka, seekh kabab and pakora. I had a keema shahee and my friend had chicken tikka sagg. All made fresh to order and they were lovely people will definitely be back. Thank you

Have been using the shad house for many years. The food is consistently good and never disappoints. They also do free delivery which is a bonus. The chicken tikka rogan josh is wonderful. I really like the staff here as well.

Friday evening starts with a delivery from Shad House. We never ever been disappointed with our meals. We have just had the most delicious king prawn madras and chicken tikka shahee. This food is authentic and amazing quality and great value. I would not order from anywhere else.

Omg google viewers! This place is wow! I sliced my toungue to ribbons tryin to get at every last drop in the foil tray in wich my chicken curry was delivered in and PROUDLY sported a yellow chin n nose tip For almost 3 days.it was so tasty and every bit as good as the very best reviews can give.sadly in this case only five stars but deffo a 10/10.well done shad tandori absolutley fantastic good tasty food.

We have ordered from here for nearly 10 years. Never a mistake. Friendly phone service, great delivery service, hot and tasty food. We have eaten in a few times for birthdays and NYE also. The staff couldn't be nicer. They ensure you are happy at every turn. Really feel looked after and wanted. Never feel rushed, in fact we feel like family almost as they do not make you even feel like a customer. Food is freshly made in front of you, nothing hidden. Chapattis, naan etc rolled out there and then. Fresh curries that taste amazing. Will make any curry to any heat you require so on other reviews where people have mentioned the spice leaving them on the toilet etc.. You can ask for medium or mild and it's not a problem. Love this place and love the staff!!

Shad make authentic and delicious Asian food. They will do Asian style if asked. Our takeaways are consistently spot on and beyond delicious we haven’t had a bad meal from them. If you like a supermarket standard curry this may not be for you and it’s your loss not to try it!

Great Indian been going for years

Ordered two Chicken Goa rolls which we couldn’t fault. Curry was ok, far too spicy for us however the seekh kebab was great. I opened the Tikka Prawns and ate one straight out of the box, to my horror my mum and boyfriend were complaining about a fishy gone off smell and said DO NOT eat those prawns (I’d already ate a whole prawn as I didn’t realise the smell) - the fact they could smell it from two metres away is very worrying.The other prawn got thrown in the bin and I hoped and prayed that I didn’t fall ill. 12am and I had excruciating stomach pain and couldn’t sit still, up all night going to the toilet and eventually started vomiting. I’m still going to the toilet today and I’ve never felt as ill. I will never be returning here again and I will never ever be eating a prawn again with fear that it’s going to make me bed and toilet bound for two days.

Had this for collection with friends last night. Eat here if you want to give your colon a good workout. I have been quarantined by my wife for the smell that my lamb bhuna has created 24hrs later and I feel sorry for anybody that experienced it earlier on today. Still, tasted lovely!

My usual curry house which we order from as a family, King prawn curry (chefs version) is amazing!! It’s my usual curry I opt for, it’s worth paying and waiting for, the chef that cooks it knows what I want soon as I walk in! Staff there are great very polite and well mannered! Customer service on point.

We have ordered from the restaurant numerous times and never been disappointed with the quality of the food or service, only late once with our order when we moved homes , Veg Samosas are really good, and King Prawn Puri divine ..just make sure they bring your food in a box if you have ordered sauce dishes , would recommend definitely.

my family and i have ordered from here quite a few times and most of the time it has been good. However, I went on sunday night for the buffet. Where you sit is just in darkness and is cold. we ordered from the buffet menu and it took 25 mins for starters to come and a further hour for the mains to come. We had a baby with us that needed to be home and in bed. We were the only people in there and they were taking orders for takeaway and sending them put first before our food. will not be going back there again.

Tried this takeaway for the first time tonight, we ordered chicken tikka balti, chicken tikka madras, chicken pakoras and onion bahjas. The food took just over an hour to be delivered which is OK on a Sunday night. The starters were nice and we enjoyed them, but my curry order was wrong, the Madras I ordered actually was some sweet korma type curry with cheese in it, it was quite sweet and inedible for me. I didn't want to wait another hour for a replacement so it went in the bin. It's a shame because the other food was good, but I won't risk ordering from here again.

Nos fuimos para mi cumpleaños el domingo, dentro estaba fría y poco acogedora, era que se mueven alrededor de la entrada por unos minutos sin saber si nosotros mismos sentados o esperar un camarero, cuando nos sentamos pedimos inmediatamente ya sabíamos lo que queríamos. Optamos por el buffet, que no es un buffet. Te puedes sentar y esperar a ser servida, esperamos más de media hora para empezar, sabían increíble! Genial! Entonces esperamos por lo menos 40 minutos para platos principales y habían sido y recoge los platos mucho tiempo antes de que llegaran. Después de haber terminado el plato principal nos dijeron los postres no estaban con la opción de buffet y que tendríamos que pagar por separado, todavía un poco de hambre. No había manera de que estábamos esperando otros 30 / 40 minutos mientras hacía un par más samosas y bhaji. En general no me visita aquí de nuevo aunque la comida era fantástico probablemente llegar a la opción de comida para llevar, pero sin duda no podía comer de nuevo.

i have heard people recommend this place so when i got a flyer through my door i thought i would try it. wasnt cheap,, starters were nice but the main a chef special keema was a big let down, we didnt eat it, was salty and had a funny taste. it was our first time so will try again but mabe a different curry. fast delivery, never paid so much for a takeaway to throw away.

Shad house has become our 1st choice for our Indian takeaway now. The food is always delicious no matter what you order and is always delivered hot. The Chicken Tikka Balti is my new favourite.There's a bit of a wait (usually up to 1 hour) for delivery on weekends but we ordered on a Wednesday and it was here within 25 minutes. I can only assume they are really busy at weekends....I'm not surprised as the food is just yummy! Portion sizes are huge and the naan breads are the best I've had. Would definitely recommend.

My wife and I have been vegetarian for 30 years or so. A couple of years ago I ordered a vegetable madras from Shad house. It duly arrived complete with chicken bones in it. I have never heard of a chicken bone curry and I'm sure any meat eater wouldn't have been happy with it either. I swore not to go back.My wife recently convinced me to try the place again. We have ordered a couple of times since and although we had some problems, the food was good. Today however, my takeaway vegetable curry had what I thought was fish in it, which I had the misfortune to have a mouthful. I was immediately sick. My wife called the place immediately and they insist that they have no fish on the menu? The Mrs says it smells of fish too? If it is not fish, I dread to think what I have just eaten. They offered to replace it but no sane person would accept a replacement. No offer of a refund either. We will definitely not be ordering from there again.

Well what can I say, the food was excellent, the portions plentiful, the meat quality was great. And it goes to show that tripadvisor works really well because had it not been for tripadvisor I would never have known about the place cos it is prob a third of a mile off Montague street through that end of Blackburn. I had the reshme kebab starter and the lamb chilli garlic Jal frazzi with a plain paratha.I have eaten Bangladeshi food from lands end to Inverness for the last 32 years and would put this in my top 10 for restaurant or take away. I will def return.Thanks Raymond.

Every time I've attended the Shad House (now not just a quality carry-out) I've found that the welcome is always good and the food is cooked fresh.The "boss" will even adjust the spiciness for personal taste if required (in my case upwards; it's cold up north!).I can particularly recommend the Lamb Goa with a Saag Bhaji.

I ordered many takeaways from Shad House and the food is really good, as is the service. If you like spicy king prawn dishes I would particularly recommend their King Prawn Zaffrani - it's delicious!Shad House also has a few tables if you want to sit in to eat and watch them cook your food in the open kitchen.

Been using Shad for years, food is excellent, staff friendly, prompt delivery, nothing is too much for "Mr Shad"! He has even made me a curry less spicy but still tasty, my favourite is Kasmiri chicken, its just so yummy! Highly recommended!

Had shad house every week before moving out of blackburn, 18 months and numerous bad takeaways later popped in and asked if would deliver (for delivery fee) to us 8 miles away. Thankfully boss said yes, so we are now very happy to have fantastic indian food every week again. Thank you shad house.
