I enjoyed the service as they were very Intensive but the food was extremely dry and brittle. I don’t recommend unless you like bland food but the atmosphere was ok at least. Interesting deco reminded me of the Great Depression. Overcharged food. Bad atmosphere. Bad service. Do not recommend, food looks better than it taste.

This place used to be the best Indian restaurant by a clear mile in darwen .but what has gone wrong .the curry is bland the starters are burnt .this is not once but on a number of occasions. I always used to get sunday buffet it was a bargain .now you get so little portions and all you seem to be doing is asking for more.and on 2 occasions the buffet never even came

First time dining here, lovely food & good service. Luckily we were seated in the smaller area at the front, as the noise level in the larger area at the back was horrendous but we will definitely visit again.

Been coming here for years at all times of day/night and in various states of sobriety and drunkenness! Always a friendly welcome and always a quality choice of curries etc. Had family meals here and they have seated around thirty of us with ease and no drop off in quality and service either.

We visited this restaurant for an evening meal. The hosts were so welcoming and cheerful. The menu had lots of choice and we ordered a variety of dishes that came out nice and hot and was absolutely delicious. The owner son came to chat with us at the end of the evening and was a pleasure to talk to . His father should be very proud of his professionalism and impeccable manners. If we lived closer we would frequent this place regularly. If ever we are in Darwin again we will definitely revisit.

I visited The Akash after being recommended on arriving to Blackburn. I came with my husband and sister in law and brother in law for a footy match so stayed over. We wanted somewhere nice to eat after the match and was not disappointed. We had not booked and did arrive until 9:30pm but they accommodated us with no problem at all. The service was A1 everyone so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The food was amazing 🤩 best Indian I have ever had so tasty and so much food. The owners son was amazing and made our visit extra special with his help in needing to charge my phone and offering to sort our taxi. He even gave us a little gift to take home. If I lived nearer I would 100% visit this restaurant regularly. Defo worth a visit you will not be disappointed x

The best Indian restaurant in the area

Honestly such lovely food. But what impressed me particularly was the very speedy delivery and the loveliest delivery guy! Will certainly use again!

My friend took me out this evening Monday 12th Feb 2024 for a quiet meal for my birthday. We were placed in the front area of the restaurant even though we both did not want to go in that area. Within the first 10 mins a party of 7 were placed right in front of us. We expressed our concern to the waiter before they sat down as we could hear the loudness of these people before they came to the table. They were loud, noisy and talked about inappropriate bodily fluids and tried talking about a current netflix programme even with two very young children at their side. My friend and I could not even make conversation due to their loudness. They totally ruined our evening. I also ordered an extra takeway meal to take home for my son. The chicken tikka massala, garlic naan bread was tasteless. This is the last time I ever visit Akash. The waiter should have acknowledged our concern before putting a rowdy group next to us.

Called in for a takeaway. Lamb biryani and a naan, it was great Good value for money

Went in for New Years Eve meal with family. Service was very good and all waiters were very pleasant. Food was delicious and garlic naan was to die for. Gave us a complimentary Baileys.

A group of Five friends went to this restaurant to celeberate a special occassion expecting a good dinner out. We have ordered 3 Fish starters and 2 others. But the Pricey Fish starter was just the tiny tail of fish with heavily skined. Barely a mouthful of eatable fish for Appx £7-£8 Suppose to serve Starter first followed by Dinner, but we been served all together while we were waiting for longtime just drinking wines. Not impressed at all. The food quality was terrible regardless of we requested to cook with more spicey flavour. It was total waste of time and appx £200 yet we had an aweful experience. Even in the end, Usually any indian restaurant offers like "After Eight Mint" along with the bill but we been serve with few orange slices which looks so cheap. When politely mentioned to the owner about our overall experience; he was bully, arrogant and rude. Absolutely disasterous experience! Will never go back and never recommed anyone to go there.

I have been to this restaurant many times and its fantastic the waiters are fast and amazing and the food was divine if your looking for a cheap fantastic restaurant to go to i reccomend this place

Been coming here for over 35years on a regular basis, from weeknights, to weekends & Sunday buffet etc, I've noticed over the past few visits portion sizes have gone smaller, curries have been bland, no flavour, granted everybody is cutting costs, but I've been having the Shimla grill for years, you used to get half a tandoori chicken & king prawns with it, this is what I was served last night for £13.50, basically a bigger mixed kebab starter, rice & salad, the vegetable curry sauce was just bland, so acting upon what was served & what we paid, wasn't value for money for 3 of us, I've had better Indian takeaways elsewhere, on my personal experience I wouldn't rush back, I will probably go & spend my money elsewhere, for a better tasting curry, sorry Akash but I'm just giving my honest experience on what we got & our overall rating of our visit....

The staff and the service is first class. I can't remember ever complaining about any of the food.

Good food, this place has been around for ages, there's a reason for that. I scored medium on atmosphere, it was a quiet Wednesday evening, but I believe it gets really busy at weekends

Been coming to this fine restaurant since it first opened, an aeon ago and every bit as good today. Not visited for a long time but will not stay away so.long again.

We have been using the Akash for a lot of years and have never been disappointed, we've also been on Christmas Day and it was still great. We went recently to celebrate my wife's birthday and as always the food and service was excellent especially from Abs, nothing was too much trouble and he went out of his way to make her feel special. We are looking forward to our next visit which will not be long.

A spacious well lit restaurant. With polite, smartly dressed waiters. A very good variety and choice of menu. Plates were very warm and the hot plates were ideal. It was approx 3/4 full and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. First visit here and will definitely go back, when in the area again.

Fantastic food and service, I had the chicken tikka balti Bhuna and my partner had chicken tikka bhuna dhansak, with chips, pilau rice and garlic naan and all was cooked to perfection and the service is amazing. We would both definitely come again. Thanks guys.

Having recently moved to the area and trying out the various Indian restaurants, this is comfortably bottom of the list. Lacking in flavour, overcooked. Easily the worst we have tasted in Darwen. On the plus side the staff are friendly but we definitely won't be coming again.

Lovely starters and people, was very happy they kept up traditions like hot towels , orange slices, complimentary liquor, and lollipops made the night great and reminded me of when I was younger. The service was also very quick which was good. However, the curry’s lacked flavour and authenticity which we were disappointed by and was very over priced for certain things as they weren’t the best. Wouldn’t go back unfortunately. Other than that had a good time.

Very busy when we visited this showed in the service and the quality of food. Felt rushed and some staff members were quire rude. Won't be returning.

Me and my mates went here. Got starters and main meals. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed and shown to a table. Not bad for a Friday night. Everything we had was top notch food. Couldn't fault it at all.

Good tasty food reasonably priced with courteous service. It would perhaps look better if the barman dressed like the rest of the staff rather than in a track suit and puffer jacket... been again-barman still dressed randomly, pity he still isn't dressed in waistcoat etc like the other waiters

it was ok the restaurant looks nice and it's well maintained. the service was good although did get asked too many times if everything was OK. its a little more expensive than other local Indian restaurants. the food was dissapointing I had lamb which was ok but a little dry. curry sauce was bland. rice was dry and flavourless (no it wasn't boiled or pilau so it should have been flavoured) and nothing was spicy all very bland and a bit dry and the naan bread was too charred and couldn't really taste the filling.

Been going here for over 30 years and chosen over the others but tonight I won’t be going again. When you are told when how and what you can and can’t eat by a very rude and pretentious young waiter and then when you lodge a complaint at the end and they just keep repeating goodnight and not listening to the customer it’s time to take business elsewhere! Rude full of themselves is an understatement. In front of us he was trying to show a trainee waiter how to take the plates in one go and knocking the red sauce down my jeans and not apologising is unforgiving. It was like we were just cattle and the other party that were in said the same totally unexceptable. We paid but defo will not be setting foot in there again. the guy who was serving us needs to be sacked. He will loose business for the acclaimed Indian and we did nt get a single apology Unbelievable!!!! Wished I had got his name

Tried ordering a takeaway at 23:45 for pick up at 00:15, only to be told the chef had gone home!! Says open until 00:30 on sat night, very disappointing is an understatement 😔 won't be using ever again as false advertising and not to be trusted 😔

Beautiful meal here. Staff so friendly and looked after us well. We enjoyed every minute. The starter platter was excellent and advice given about meals to order which was good

I've amended this review from the previous 5 stars as we have had two take aways delivered from here now which have contained meat when we have specifically ordered vegetarian meals. One instance what I though was garlic mushrooms (in batter) actually contained Chicken We have now had another meal delivered which should have been a veg Madras which contained a big chunk of Lamb. Generally the food has been good from here but this is pretty bad and makes me wonder about allergen controls for their meals.

Such an amazing meal and the service was amazing. Really look after you.

Nice atmosphere, nice welcome, nice staff...everything I ordered could have come out of a tin. Interesting, spicy, flavoursome? No. Sorry but it was bland from start to finish. Such a shame.

Attentive staff and a lovely meal. Enjoyed the recommendation for the signature dish of Argy Bargy, had the chicken variant. All in all a really nice experience.

Lovely people and beautiful food, just took a wee bit longer than expected, but we did need to be somewhere, so give them and yourselves all the time needed x

Take away food was cold and not as described I ordered a chicken biryani and it came with an omelet all over it which made everything else a soggy mess. Absolute rip off for freezing cold food.

Haven’t been in here for years We didn’t realise there was a car park right behind the restaurant so we parked across the road Fairly quiet but it was only 545/6pm on a Thursday evening Lovely polite staff Superb food all round Got to give the garlic naan a shout out as it was amazing Large portions of everything Really enjoyed it and will be back soon Only thing I’m not keen on personally are the booth seats as they are a tight squeeze if you are a larger person like I am !! That’s just my opinion though

Just had a family meal with the grandkids , very happy with the Sunday buffet . Kids had extra kebabs and onion bhaji. Main meal was fantastic and plenty of it , would definitely recommend. Very pleasant helpful staff .

Just had lunch st the Akash Darwen. I ordered sirloin steak and chips. What could go wrong? It was inedible that's what.

Had the Sunday buffet and it was OK. Reasonable value. Didn't appreciate the extra charge for papodums though! Usually included and not cheap!! Lassi was great!!

Just had an amazing meal, thank you Akash. And thank you so much for going above and beyond bringing a missing item up so fast, absolute heroes.

They have an all you can eat buffet every Sunday from 1.30pm to 7.00pm. The buffet menu changes every week creating variety. My favourite today was Lamb Bhuna with Pilau Rice and Bombay Aloo. Waiters were very helpful and attentive without being overwhelming.

What a great place! Table service fantastic polite not at at all rushed and they were really busy!! Good value for money. Most of all thankyou for being so understanding about the music. Highly recomended

A well know curry house in Darwen which offers both eat in and takeaway service. The variety of curries on offer is vast and if you can't see exactly what you want on the menu, they don't hesitate to accomodate your requests. If you like trying new things and live a bargain the Sunday Buffett (not really a buffett, but an all you can eat set menu that is served to your table) is definately woth a try. When eating in, drinks are of average price of any Curry House and as expected. The free Baileys style drink, lollies, oranges and hot towels at the end of the meal are a nice touch too. Take out, always good too.

I visited the takeaway tonight and the behaviour of some of the kitchen staff was absolutely appalling. They were arguing, shouting and squaring up to each other so much so other staff had to intervene. I wasn't the only person in the takeaway there was another man and a woman with 2 small children. This was totally unacceptable and totally unprofessional. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Fantastic , great food with a great atmosphere. All servers very polite, 4 stars instead of 5 just because it was very busy and quite noisy but that just goes to show how popular this place is.

Been a while since I visited this Indian always been good food slightly disappointed with the main meal as lacked in overall taste. Marinated lamb was lovely but the sauce was a little bland. All other dishes where good. Will try again in the future.

Really good menu, of Indian favourites. Service is good, lots of friendly helpful staff. Food well-made, naan breads are super. Warning, bring a good appetite, portion sizes are big.

We have eaten in this restaurant and ordered a takeaway, to be honest there was no difference apart from dishing and washing up afterwards lol. Seriously the food was really tasty and enjoyable.

Always going to Akash when we go out for a curry. Consistently good quality and friendly service. Never had a bad curry yet Buffet on a Sunday is a winner
